big time songwriters

Songwriting.

Something Dani always found peace in doing. Being able to tell a story with a story or get a message out that sticks to the listener's mind. Dani finds it therapeutic in a way, as it allows her to speak her mind without actually speaking it out.

"So what's with Fanboy and Chum Chum?" Kendall questioned, causing Dani to look over to see the group standing around her.

"That would be Daryl and Jam Box, your new songwriters." Dani smirked.

"Oh." The boys hummed together, which turned into a scream as Griffin appeared on the other side of the glass window.

"I'm releasing a deluxe edition of your album, and I want the bonus track to have a fresh new song." Griffin explained.

"Oh, so that's why Gustavo is pouting." Logan said, causing the group to look at the man, sitting in the corner with his arms crossed.

"I'm not pouting! You're pouting!" Gustavo snapped.

"Everyone uses other songwriters, Gustavo." Griffin disclosed, sitting beside him. "Katy Perry, Maroon 5, and Daryl and JamBox are the hottest songwriters out there."

"Aren't they the ones who fight a lot?" James asked.

"The song's called Wings of a Dove!"

The group quickly turned their attention back to the studio to find the duo fighting.

"Some songwriters you got here." Dani snorted, watching as a man was used as a window wiper.

"That means this is going to be a great song." Griffin informed the group.

"Guys, heads up, they're coming in!" Carlos cried, causing the group to scream as they ran around the studio.

...

Daryl and Jambox were rolled out of the studio on stretchers as they argued over what hospital they'd be taken to.

"Okay, we know that fighting is not the way to write a great pop song." Kelly pointed out.

"Yes, it is." Griffin declared, sending her a smile. "Now, go with them to make sure they're okay. And by 'okay' I mean they don't sue the company."

That caused Kelly to let out a groan as she turned around and quickly followed the direction in which the two were rolled away.

"And you need to find me new songwriters. A-S-A-Now." Griffin ordered, turning his attention to Gustavo. "Ones that can write a hit and take a punch."

"What are you idiots so happy about?" Dani asked, looking at the boys, causing Gustavo to turn around.

"Stop, it's creeping me out!" Gustavo said.

"We want to write a song!"

"Noooo!" Gustavo dragged out, pushing through the group, causing the boys to chase after him into the studio as Dani quickly followed behind them.

"Writing a song is the next step for us as a band." Kendall explained.

"Yeah, come on, Gustavo." Logan pleaded.

"We're ready." James added, causing Gustavo to harshly push onto the piano keys as he quickly turned to face the group.

"Are you ready to sit in complete silence for hours, waiting for the perfect lyric to arrive?" Gustavo asked, quickly standing from the piano bench. "Or stare into the eyes of the sun to find that killer hook? Huh!? Are ya!?"

"You could write the song with us." Carlos said, smiling at the producer.

"No! Because you are the dogs, and I am the lone songwriting wolf."

"But you write songs with Dani all the time." James reminded the man, pointing to the blonde girl beside him.

"No. We only put verses together." Gustavo corrected, causing the girl to lift her eyebrow. "It's called collaboration."

"Isn't that like the same thing?" Dani asked, causing the four boys to nod.

"Get out of my studio!" Gustavo demanded, barking at the boys as he chased them out of the studio, causing Dani to chuckle as Gustavo came back. "You too, Jennings. Out!"

"Sir, yes, sir." Dani said, jokingly, as she sent him a salute before quickly racing out of the studio after the boys.

...

"He's wrong; we would've written an awesome song with, like, rhymes and stuff." James said as the group walked into the lobby.

"Rhymes and stuff?" Dani questioned the boy, looking over at him with her arms crossed. "Really James?"

"It's the best I could come up with, okay!" James exclaimed, throwing his arms up, making the girl roll her eyes.

"Hey, at least we get to relax here at the Palm Woods while Gustavo 'creates' in the studio." Carlos pointed out.

"What if it was the other way around?" Kendall said, causing the group to stop as James and Carlos quickly turned and faced the others.

"I smell plan." James smiled.

"All our plans are pure genius." Carlos proclaimed.

"No, no, they're not." Dani shook her head.

"Hey, Mr. Bitters eventually found all of his pool furniture." Carlos said, pointing at the girl as the boy beside him nodded in agreement.

"All we have to do is get Gustavo to take the day off, and we write and record a song at the studio." Kendall explained, causing Carlos and James to point at the boy.

"Yeah, one problem." Logan said. "How do we get the lone wolf out of the studio?"

"Katie!" The four boys exclaimed, causing the girl to shake her head as the boys made their way toward the elevator.

"You coming?" Kendall asked, stopping as he realized the girl wasn't following behind them.

"Dani." Charlie's voice called from behind the blonde boy.

"I'll catch up." Dani said, looking up at the blonde boy as Charlie reached the duo, causing the girl to smile at him. "Hey."

"Hey." Charlie smiled down at the girl before looking over at the boy beside her. "Kendall."

"Charlie." Kendall spoke, sending the boy a closed-mouthed smile before looking back toward Dani. "If you change your mind, you know where to find us."

"Got it." Dani nodded, sending the boy a smile before he walked away from the two as Dani turned her attention back to Charlie. "Hey, what's up?"

"What are you doing right now?" Charlie asked.

"Nothing right now, why?" Dani said, letting out a little chuckle.

"A little birdie told me you knew some martial arts." Charlie smirked, causing her to smile.

"I know some things," Dani confessed, nodding her head.

"Well. I was heading to the gym to practice, and I kind of need a partner. I would ask Cami, but she doesn't know the basic rules of martial arts." Charlie explained, causing them both to chuckle as he smiled at the girl. "Would you be my partner?"

"Sure. sounds like fun." Dani said, smiling at the boy.

...

Dani grabbed a drink of her water as Charlie continued kicking the dummy.

"Come on." Dani called, gaining the boy's attention as she walked over to him, grabbing his hands, pulling him to the mat.

"What are we doing?" Charlie asked, lifting his eyebrow at the girl.

"Sparring," Dani replied. "Give me what you got."

"Are you sure you-." Charlie started but was cut off as the girl threw a punch toward him, causing him to catch her hand. "Okay."

The duo began throwing kicks and punches at each other, not making any major contact.

Charlie threw a punch toward the girl, causing her to grab him by his arm and then the back of his neck, quickly flipping him over.

"Okay. You win." Charlie groaned in pain, making the girl chuckle lightly as she held her hand out, causing the boy to grab it as she pulled him up. "I thought you said you weren't really good."

"No, I said I knew some things." Dani corrected the boy, smirking.

"Clearly." Charlie said. "What belt are you?"

"I got my black belt at the age of 12." Dani answered, causing the boy to nod in surprise.

"Impressive."

"Come on, let's go one more round." Dani pulled the boy back to the center of the mat. "And the time, don't go easy on me."

"Don't count on it." Charlie said, smirking at the girl, before both turned and bowed at each other.

The duo quickly jumped into action, with Dani once again throwing the first punch, but Charlie quickly dodged it.

Charlie somehow got Dani on the mat, but she quickly kicked him in the chest, causing him to stumble backwards as she jumped up, getting back into her fighting stance.

"Bring it on, pretty boy." Dani said, smirking at the boy, causing him to grin before he swung his leg toward the girl.

Charlie ended up connecting a kick to the girl's side, causing her to fall, but she quickly wrapped her leg around his, causing him to fall with her, but he fell right on top of her.

Both stopped as they stared at each other in the eyes as Charlie looked from the girl's eyes to her lips, causing them both to lean in.

Their lips were about to touch when they pulled away at the sound of the girl's phone ringing, causing the boy to quickly stand up as he helped her up.

Dani sent the boy a smile before she quickly answered her phone, not even looking at the contact. "Hello."

"Dani!" Carlos' shouted through the phone. "We need your help. We're under attack. I repeat, we're under attack."

The sound of the boy screaming rang through the phone before the phone went silent, causing the girl to move the phone away from her ear to see he had hung up on her.

"Sorry, I have to go." Dani apologized, turning around and coming to come face-to-face with the boy.

Charlie gently grabbed the girl's face before he softly placed a kiss on the girl's lips, causing them both to pull away with a smile on their faces.

"I've been wanting to do that since I laid eyes on you." Charlie admitted, looking the girl in the eyes as he moved a strand of her blonde hair, tucking it behind her ear, causing her to lean into the boy's touch. "I guess duty calls."

"Yeah, I've got to go." Dani said, locking eyes with the boy.

"I guess I'll see you later." Charlie questioned, causing the girl to nod. "One more for the road."

The girl placed her hand on the boy's cheek as she quickly stood on her tippy toes, placing a quick kiss on the boy's lips before slowly pulling away.

"Bye," Dani smiled as she made her way toward the door.

"Bye," Charlie said, sending the girl a small wave before she was fully out the door, causing him to pump his arm in the air. "Yes!"

...

Dani made her way through the studio with a smile on her face.

It quickly faded, and she slowed her steps as she noticed the mess that covered the studio: flipped couches and chairs, instruments, and snacks everywhere.

"Hello." Dani called out, stopping in the middle of the hall as she did a circle as she looked at all the damage that had been done. "Guys!"

"Dani!" The four boys exclaimed, popping up from two different rooms, Kendall and Carlos on one side while James and Logan were together on the other side.

"What is going on here?!" Dani exclaimed, turning her attention to the four boys. "The studio is completely trashed, and where is Gustavo?"

"Health spa."

"Nice." Dani said, nodding her head. "What did you idiots want? I was in the middle of something."

"We need you to help us write a song!" Carlos explained, popping up beside her as he grabbed her arm.

"No, she's going to help us write a song!" James exclaimed, popping up on the other side of the girl as he held her other arm.

"No, she's helping us!" Carlos said, pulling the girl toward him and Kendall.

"She's helping us!"

The two continued going back and forth as they pulled the girl.

"Will you stop that!" Dani snapped, snatching her arms away from both boys. "I'm not a ragdoll, okay? Now will someone tell me what's going on?"

"Well, we sent Gustavo to the Palm Woods so we could write our own song; now we're fighting over what song to write. The Yeah song." Logan explained, pointing to himself and James before gesturing toward Kendall and Carlos. "And the Oh song."

"You're kidding me, right?" Dani asked, causing the four boys to shake their heads. "So you're telling me you four are fighting over two different one-syllable words?"

"Well, when you put it that way," Kendall trailed off, causing the other three to nod. "So just tell James and Logan that Oh is better, and we can all write the Oh song together."

"Or you can tell Kendall and Carlos the Oh song is stupid, and we can ditch it and write the Yeah song." James said, causing the two boys to gasp.

"Never!" Carlos huffed, causing them all to turn around before stomping off back toward the room they came out of.

Dani was minding her business when she heard the sound of screaming come from the hallway.

"Not again." Dani muttered to herself as she quickly made her way toward the sound of yelling to see the four boys fighting in the studio with the band watching behind them, eating popcorn.

"What are you guys doing here?" Kelly questioned the band as she rushed into the studio.

"They're working with our new fighting songwriters." Dani informed the woman, pointing toward the four fighting boys, causing her eyes to go wide.

"Cover your ears." Kelly ordered, causing them all to quickly cover their ears as Dani and Kelly put on headphones before Kelly placed the microphone beside the speaker, causing a loud squealing noise to come from the machine as Dani watched the boys drop like flies.

"What are you doing?!" Kelly exclaimed once they made it into the recording studio.

"Me and Carlos wrote an amazing song for the bonus track that goes oh, oh, oh." Kendall explained.

"But we wrote a better song that goes, 'yeah, yeah, yeah.'" Logan interjected.

"And then they attacked us with foil helmets and hair extensions." James exclaimed, pulling one of them from Kendall's head, causing him to scream in pain.

"Hey, it's because our song is way better." Carlos said, causing them to start screaming at each other again.

"Hey!" Kelly shouted, causing them to stop as they turned back to the two in front of them. "You want to know the worst way to write a song while fighting."

"Yes, but ours really is better because it goes."

Oh
Yeah
Oh
Yeah
Oh
Yeah

Dani and Kelly turned and looked at each other before looking back at the boys.

"That wasn't bad. Sing that again." Kelly said.

Oh
Yeah
Oh
Yeah
Oh
Yeah

"Here's a good idea." Dani spoke sarcastically. "How about instead of screaming oh and yeah at each other, why don't you idiots scream oh yeah together, and then that can be your song?"

"It did sound pretty good." Logan admitted.

"But do you think Gustavo will like it?" Carlos asked.

The sound of Gustavo's screams filled the studio, causing the four boys to let out a scream as they quickly raced to hide behind Kelly and Dani.

"Wait!" Kelly held out a drumstick, causing the man to stop immediately. "Before you kill them... and explain what all that is, check out the new song from your new songwriters."

Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Oh, yeah
Screaming oh, yeah, yeah

"It's... not... terrible." Gustavo admitted. "It just needs a little bit of help, like arranging and producing and a master at the controls. Now get in the studio!"

"I thought you only wrote alone?"

"Let's just say that every now and then, the lone wolf needs his pack." Gustavo said.

The man let out a howl, causing the four boys to begin howling too.

"Okay!" Dani exclaimed, causing them to stop as they looked over at the blonde girl. "Please never do that again."

Oh, yeah (Oh, yeah, oh, yeah-eh!)
Oh, yeah (Oh, yeah, oh, yeah-eh!)

So tell me who am I supposed to be?
What I gotta do to get you close to me?
If I run away tonight will you follow me?
(C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, oh, yeah)
I can't seem to get you out of my mind (Oh, no)
And I ain't gonna stop until I make you mine (Make you mine)
I just gotta make it to you by the end of the night
Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, oh, yeah! *Oh!*

Say anything you want, I turn the music up
'Cause baby we ain't going no-o-o-where
I'll leave it all behind to be with you tonight
And everybody's screaming: "Oh-oh-oh-oh"

Oh, yeah (Oh, yeah, oh, yeah-eh!)
Screaming, "Oh yeah, yeah"

I know the night is ending
And time just keeps on running out
I gotta find my way to you, (oh, yeah!)

Say anything you want, I turn the music up (Say anything)
'Cause baby we ain't going no-o-o-where (We ain't going nowhere)

(Oh-ouh, yeah, yeah!) Oh, yeah, oh, yeah-eh!
Oh, yeah!

"Well, it looks like we have a bonus track for our deluxe album." Griffin announced into the mic, causing everyone to cheer as Dani excitedly rushed to the guys. "But how did you write it so fast?"

"Let's just say it started with some fighting but ended with a big-time collaboration." Kelly explained, patting Gustavo's back.

"You know, I think I'll write a song with Gustavo." Griffin declared.

"Of course, we can skip the fighting." Gustavo suggested.

"No, no, I want to be thorough." Griffin said, stepping back, causing his assistants to rip off his sleeves to reveal his muscular arms.

He quickly grabbed Gustavo up from his seat before rubbing him against the glass of the widow.

"It seems like it'll be a good song." Dani said, not once taking her eyes off the scene in front of her.

"Oh, yeah."
