big time secret
The group of teens found themselves sitting together in the apartment that belonged to their newest friend, Lucy Stone.
"Okay, the game is called 'What's the worst thing you've ever done to a person in this room that they don't know about?'" Lucy announced, taking a seat on the floor, causing the group to look at her, scared.
"Um, that game sounds dangerous." Kendall said, causing his best friends to nod in agreement.
"And also, not a game." Dani added, shaking her head.
"Come on." Camille urged the group with a smile. "I love secrets. Let's play."
"Is Big Time Dani afraid?" Lucy teased, pointing at the five sitting beside each other, causing the boys to laugh.
"How do you play?" Big Time Rush demanded with serious faces.
"I spin the spinner, and whoever it lands on has to spill their secrets." Lucy explained.
"Sounds simple enough." Dani shrugged her shoulders, causing Lucy to smirk, extending her hand to spin the spinner.
"All right. Here we go."
The first person the spinner landed on was the Diamond boy himself.
"James!"
"Okay, um, Carlos." James pointed at the boy, sitting on the arm beside Dani.
"Bring it!"
"Remember that girl, Heather Fox, you had a crush on at Camp Wonky Donkey?" James asked, causing the Garcia boy to grin as he quickly nodded his head. "Okay, well, she gave me a note saying that she liked you, but I threw it away and never told you because I had a crush on her too."
Dani watched as the smiles on Kendall and Logan's faces disappeared, causing her to know it wasn't going to end well.
"She was the love of my life!" Carlos cried, standing up on the couch, forcing Dani to lean closer to Kendall before the boy jumped over his three friends and onto their other friend, causing him to go crashing through the apartment door.
"Oh, boy." Dani muttered, watching the duo as Kendall and Logan rushed over to separate the two boys.
"Or we could play a different game," Lucy suggested.
After 5 minutes of trying to separate Carlos from James, the group found themselves back in their spots, with Carlos and James on opposite ends of the couch, with the four friends eyeing the Garcia boy catiously.
Carlos angrily sat with his arms crossed over his chest.
"Continue." James spoke, causing the Stone girl to hesitate before she spun the bottle again.
The spinner kept going, and the teens watched it in anticipation as they all slowly began leaving in towards the spinner as it began to slow down.
The Jenning's girl wasn't surprised when the spinner landed on her, causing the group to cheer.
"Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't really have any secrets." Dani shrugged her shoulders, glancing over at the red-headed girl. "I tell my friends everything."
"That she does." Logan nodded.
"Dani is as honest as they come." James added.
"We know where she's from, her favorite color, all of her breakups, how she kissed Logan, all the words to her songs..." Carlos rambled, causing Dani and Logan's eyes to go wide as their necks snapped towards the boy, causing his eyes to go wide as his mouth quickly snapped shut.
"What was that?" Camille chuckled lightly, looking between Dani, Logan, and Carlos. "Did you just say Dani kissed Logan?"
"Yes!" Carlos happily spoke, causing Logan to smack his arm. "I mean no. I definitely did not say that." Carlos leant towards Logan and Dani with a giant smile as he whispered loudly. "I think she bought it."
"I don't think she did." Kendall interjected, causing Carlos to look over at Camille, making her shake her head.
"Thank you, Carlos." Dani's voice dripped with sarcasm as she spoke through her gritted teeth, causing the boy to smile softly as he shrunk down into the couch.
"You guys kissed?" Camille questioned, pointing between her best friend and her on-again, off-again boyfriend, making them share a look before they slowly nodded.
"It was so long ago, and it was before you guys even became a thing." Dani explained, quickly standing up with Logan beside her.
"She's right!" Logan nodded vigorously. "It meant nothing!"
"Absouletly nothing!"
"She's not even a good kisser!"
"Now is not the time." Dani exclaimed, hitting the boy in the back of the head, causing him to yelp.
Camille's phone went off before she began gathering her things before heading toward the door.
"Wait, where are you going?" Dani questioned, taking a step closer to the girl. "I thought we were spending the day together."
"I forgot I had something. Maybe another time." Camille spoke, causing Dani's heart to break a bit. "We'll talk later. Okay?"
"Yeah. yeah." Dani stumbled out, sending the girl a small smile and nodding her head. "Later."
Camille sent the Jennings girl a small smile before stepping out of the apartment and disappearing down the hallway.
Dani tried to keep all of her emotions in as she stood still, watching the spot where her best friend once stood.
Dani felt a hand touch her shoulder, causing her to quickly snap out of her thoughts, looking back to find Kendall with the boys and Lucy sending her small smiles.
"I should get going." Dani cleared her throat, quickly wiping her eyes.
"Dani." Carlos spoke, but the girl sent a smile.
"It's fine." Dani shook her head, looking over at the Stone girl. "Thanks for having me. I'll catch you guys later."
Before the group had a chance to respond, the Jennings girl was out of the room within the blink of an eye.
...
It had been 14 hours, and Dani hadn't heard a peep from Camille since she left Lucy's apartment yesterday.
The blonde girl had been curled up on her couch for 14 hours with her phone in hand, waiting for a call or a text from the Roberts girl, but it was silent.
"Can you guys believe her?" Dani exclaimed, bursting into apartment 2J, causing the boys to jump as they turned their attention to the upset blonde. "It's been 14 hours and not a word. Not even a text to say if she's okay. Nothing. And we talk. Everyday!"
"Do you think it may be because you kissed her boyfriend?" James pointed to Logan, causing Dani to glare at the boy.
"They weren't dating!" Dani snapped, causing the Diamond boy to quickly put his hands up before she glanced over towards Carlos. "He still upset over what's her face?"
"Yes."
"And he's going to burst any minute." Logan whispered exclaimed, pulling her down onto the couch between him and James.
"And we'll be ready." Kendall spoke, causing him and Logan to shield the four of them with pillows.
"How could you do this to me?!" Carlos exclaimed, causing the four to jump as his head snapped in their direction. "Heather was the love of my life."
"Understood. But come on, dude, you probably haven't even thought about her in years." Kendall pointed out.
"I beg to differ." Dani muttered, letting out a sigh.
"How could I not think about her? She's the new face of live spokesmodel." Carlos explained, grabbing a magazine from the coffee table. "She's in every single magazine. And she is in every single commercial."
"Hey, want to bring your face alive?"
"I love that stuff!" Dani gushed. "Cleared up my face in days."
"I was wondering what you used to make your skin look much clearer." James grinned, nodding in agreement, causing the pair to start talking about skin care back and forth.
"Guys!" Logan exclaimed, causing the duo to quickly close their mouths.
"We'll sidebar later." Dani spoke, causing James to nod before they held the pillows back up at the Garcia boy.
And her name is tattooed right here." Carlos lifted up his left sleeve to reveal a heart-shaped tattoo with the name Heather Fox in the middle.
"Okay, that is a temporary tattoo."
"I have been wronged!" Carlos exclaimed, pointing at the boy before he came rushing at the group, causing the other three to hold him back with the pillow shields.
"Stop fighting!" Mama Knight demanded, causing the group to turn their attention to the woman as she approached them with a plate with snickerdoodles stacked high. "Fresh snickerdoodles."
"I'll take nine." Kate appeared out of nowhere, grabbing two cookies before the boys rushed past the blonde girl towards the woman.
"Dani, would you like to taste one of my famous snickerdoodles?" Mama Knight offered, holding out the plate towards the girl, causing her to take one.
The group watched in anticipation, leaning closer as the girl slowly bit into the cookie.
"Wow, these are great." Dani nodded in approval, causing the boys to cheer. "These actually taste just like my mom would make hers; she would just buy a-."
"So why aren't you guys at the studio?" Ms. Knight grinned, cutting the girl off, and that's when Dani knew she herself was keeping a secret-a cookie secret.
"Oh, Gustavo said don't come in." Kendall spoke.
"He's stuck on the last song of the new album." James explained.
"Very grumpy." Logan whispered.
"He'd rather be without the big-time distractions." Dani added, causing Mama Knight and Katie to nod.
"Well, perhaps my snickerdoodles will cheer him up." Mama Knight spoke, glancing over at her daughter.
"Why are you looking at me?"
"You need to learn to be nicer," Mama Knight explained.
"No. I don't want to go." Katie shook her head, but her mother grabbed her arm and dragged her away anyway.
"Huh. Now where were we?" Carlos spoke, letting out a light chuckle. "Oh yeah, that's right. I was wronged!"
The four teens jumped as Dani, Logan, and Kendall turned to face James and the Garcia boy.
"Okay, he is right. And according to the best friend code, when you wrong a friend, you have to make it right." Kendall reminded James.
"You didn't forget the Best Friend code, did you?" Logan questioned.
"I'm well aware of the best friend code... and the no-dating ex-girlfriends code, and the don't borrow underwear code." James muttered, glaring at Logan.
"What? It was one time!"
"Definitely did not need to know that." Dani spoke, sending them a sarcastic smile.
"And I'm gonna make this right!"
"See, this is exactly what happens when you keep secrets from your friends." Kendall smiled. "Bye."
"Wait, where are you going?" James asked, causing Kendall to turn around and give him a look.
"None of your business."
That left the four teens to stand there confused, causing them to share a look.
"Well, I have to finish some songs." Dani sighed. "I'll catch you guys later."
"See ya, Dani."
Dani sent them one last smile before she made her way out the door, quickly racing after the boy, whom she quickly caught at the elevators.
"Hey." Dani called, causing the boy to jump as he turned around, looking down at the blonde girl.
"Dani, hey." Kendall smiled.
"So, what are you up to today? I thought maybe we could hang out." Dani suggested.
"As much as I would love to, I am actually busy right now." Kendall replied as the elevator doors opened, causing the boy to step on. "Maybe later. I'll come find you."
Before the girl had the chance to respond, the doors began to close on her, causing the boy to send her a quick smile and wave before he disappeared behind the doors.
Dani watched as the elevator went up instead of going down to the lobby.
"What are you up to, Knight?" Dani mumbled to herself before turning and walking away.
...
Dani was sitting on her couch when her front door swung open. Logan came barging into her apartment, slamming the door closed behind him.
"We have a major problem!" Logan exclaimed, taking a seat on the girl's couch before quickly standing right back up.
"Please, come in." Dani teasingly said, motioning the boy into her apartment, before her smile slowly faded away as she noticed the upset look on the boy's face. "Okay, what's wrong?"
"I think Camille is cheating on me!" Logan exclaimed.
"Logan." Dani softly spoke, causing the boy to look over at the girl. "You guys aren't together."
"Right." Logan nodded before quickly shaking his head. "But a code has been broken!"
"Let me guess someone at your snack cake." Dani joked, causing the boy to gasp.
"Don't make such a joke." Logan held a hand over his heart, causing the girl to roll her eyes.
"So what precious code was broken this time?"
"Kendall and Camille are dating!" Logan exclaimed, causing Dani to accidentally pluck one of her guitar strings.
"I'm sorry. I must have heard that wrong. Did you just say Kendall and Camille were dating?" Dani questioned, causing the boy to vigorously nod his head. "Like each other? Are you sure you didn't have one too many cookies?"
"I know what I saw!" Logan spoke in a deep voice, causing Dani's eyes to go wide.
"And what exactly did you see?" Dani asked.
"Well, I was at the vending machine getting a pack of fruit smackers when Lucy approached me and told me she saw the two holding hands and twirling, and I chased after them, and I saw them get onto the shuttle together." Logan explained.
"So you didn't see them holding hands; Lucy did?" Dani questioned, causing Logan to nod. "I see. Logan, I can assure you, there's probably nothing going on between Kendall and Camille. It's probably just two friends hanging out."
"You're right." Logan nodded. "Just two friends hanging out. Alone. Together. Single friends. They must be stopped!"
Logan raced out of the room, causing the girl to shake her head.
"I gotta get new friends." Dani muttered to herself.
"I heard that!"
...
Dani had felt that it had been long enough for Camille to ignore her, and she needed to talk to her before she went insane.
As Dani stepped off the elevator onto the 4th floor, she heard a familiar voice from down the hallway, causing her to stop behind the wall.
"Did you tell Logan about us?"
"I didn't tell anyone." Camille reassured the boy. "You told me not to. But maybe we should."
"No!" Kendall snapped. "They cannot know I broke the code."
"So you did break a code." Dani said, appearing from behind the wall, making her way towards the pair.
"Hey."
"Dani, Hey. How long were you standing over there for?" Kendall questioned, raising an eyebrow at the girl.
"Long enough to know you broke a code." Dani crossed her arms. "That information alone is all the boys need."
"Just tell her!" Camille exclaimed, causing Kendall to sigh, dropping his head before looking back up at the girl.
"Fine. But not out here. They might be listening." Kendall whispered, shoving the two girls into the Roberts apartment before closing the door behind them.
"Will someone please just tell me what's going on here?"
"The code I broke was..." Kendall stammered, causing Dani to lean in, waiting for the boy to finish his sentence. "The Figure Skating Code."
"The Figure Skating Code?" Dani snorted. "What does that even mean?"
"Growing up, hockey players and figure skaters were constantly at war for ice time. And they are awful people with toe picks, and we vowed never to figure skate... ever."
"I'm a figure skater, and I'm not awful." Camille spoke up, pulling out one of her skates. "Dani skates too, and she's not awful."
"You're a figure skater?"
"No, I just like to skate around the ice." Dani explained. "Definetly not a skater."
"Anyway, Minnesota pairs figure skating champs Chet and Mim Camerelli were. They called us cavemen on skates and made fun of our dull and bulky uniforms, and they said that we could never do a double sow cow or death spriral if we tried!"
"So why are you figure skating?" Camille asked.
"Because I vowed that someday I would prove that hockey players are just as good as figure skaters. And with your help, I will prove it at tomorrow's competition." Kendall declared, triumphantly.
"Well, I'm sure you guys are going to do great." Dani spoke, glancing between the duo. "As long as you avoid Logan, he kind of thinks you guys are dating."
"He what!" Camille exclaimed, looking at Kendall with wide eyes. "I should go talk to him."
"No!" Kendall snapped, holding his arms out, causing the girl to stop. "Let me."
Before either girl had the chance to mutter a word, the boy was out the door.
"Hey, what's up?" Camille smiled at the Jennings girl, making her way to the couch.
"What's up? That's all you have to say." Dani asked, causing Camille to raise her eyebrow. "You just found out yesterday that I kissed your ex. You should be screaming at me or crying or screaming at me while you cry."
"Dani, I'm not going to scream at you." Camille chuckled, shaking her head. "I'm not mad at you."
"You're not?" Dani slowly took a seat beside the Roberts girl.
"No. I'm upset that you didn't tell me, but I'm not mad. I mean, I should be, but I know it probably meant nothing." Camille said, causing Dani to vigorously shake her head. "Besides, I know what it's like to be in your shoes, and I know you're probably beating yourself up, but it's okay. We weren't dating at the time, so it was fair game."
"So you're not mad?" Dani asked to reassure herself, and as Camille shook her head, Dani punched her in the arm.
"Ow! What was that for?"
"Ignoring my messages and not responding back!" Dani snapped, causing Camille to rub her arm. "Wait, so if you didn't run off because you were mad, where did you go?"
"I went to pick up Kendall and I's costumes for tomorrow." Camille replied, causing Dani to gasp.
"There's costumes too?! This I have to see!"
...
The next morning, Dani found herself being dragged from her apartment and placed on Lucy's couch beside the sad boy.
"Logan, I'm telling you there's nothing going on between Kendall and Camille." Dani told the boy, causing him to spit out a fruit smacker as he looked over at the girl.
"And I bet after tonight you'll never see them sneaking around again." Lucy added, wearing a nervous smile.
"What do you know?" Logan demanded to know, quickly sitting up and looking at the red-headed girl, causing her eyes to go wide. "You have a secret. Reveal it, by the order of the reveal it code."
"Yeah, well, I can't, because of the stupid 'new friend' code." Lucy snapped.
"You're in on it."
"I'm not in on anything, except realizing you're all weird." Lucy stated.
"Honey, have you seen your hair lately?" Dani questioned, causing the girl to gasp. "If we're weird, you definitely are too."
"I'm borrowing this." Logan announced, causing the two girls to turn their attention away from each other and turn it to the boy to find him standing there holding Lucy's guitar that looks like an ax before he raced out the door laughing like a lunatic.
Dani let out a sigh as she pulled out her phone, quickly dialing the Knight boy's number.
"Hey, just a heads up. Maybe avoid the lobby when you get back. There's a lunatic with an ax out to get you." Dani spoke as the sound of rustling had made it clear the duo had made a run for it, causing the girl to end the call. "We should probably follow Logan and make sure he actually doesn't hurt anyone."
"Yeah, maybe you're right." Lucy nodded, causing the duo to quickly race out of the apartment and follow the sounds of screams out the front door of the Palm Woods.
Dani watched as Logan quickly chased after the shuttle bus with the ax guitar held high over his head.
"Stop, please!" Lucy exclaimed.
"Logan!"
"Wait, wait!"
"Stop, stop, stop!"
Lucy and Dani were pulled to a halt by Carlos and James, who had their hands glued together, causing Dani to lift an eyebrow.
"We built birdhouses!"
"Now what is going on?" Carlos asked.
"Kendall broke a code, but I can't tell you which code because of the new friend code." Lucy rambled out.
"Kendall broke a code!" James exclaimed, pointing his and Carlos' glued hands at her, letting out a scream before chasing after the shuttle with Logan, causing both girls to roll their eyes.
"Boys." Lucy muttered.
"Tell me about it." Dani sighed, running after the trio with Lucy beside her.
...
"Okay, let's get in there, skate our routines, get out before anybody sees us, and..." Kendall and Camille screamed, quickly stopping in their tracks as their five friends stood at the top of the stairs, waiting for their arrival.
"Taxis are so much faster than shuttle buses." Logan stated with that same crazed look in his eyes. "Ha!"
"You broke a code!" James exclaimed, pointing at the boy, while Carlos quickly pried his hand away.
"Just tell them the truth, 'cause this is getting out of control." Lucy begged, gesturing towards the three boys.
"Uh, Logan, guys. Camillie and I are... in love."
"He broke the code!" The three boys cried.
"Kendall!"
"Okay! I'm not dating Camille!" Kendall confessed, motioning towards the brunette, causing the boys to go quiet as he motioned towards the blonde. "I'm dating Dani!"
"What?" The three boys and Lucy exclaimed, glancing between their two friends.
"Well, we're technically not dating, exactly." Kendall corrected himself, causing Dani to raise an eyebrow. "But we're talking?"
"We're talking." Dani chuckled, nodding her head to confirm the boy's confused statement.
"Look, as much as we want to cheer, first we need to know the code Kendall broke." James demanded, causing the other two boys to nod.
"Okay, fine. The code I broke is..." Kendall muttered, tearing the jacket he was wearing off, revealing a metallic purple with red and white swirls on his skating uniform.
Logan, Carlos, and James all let out horrified screams.
"He's figure skating." Carlos gasped, pointing at the blonde boy, before he fainted.
"And I'm better now." Logan tossed the guitar to the side.
"Okay, but we hate figure skaters!" James exclaimed.
"No. We hated the Camerellis, and they always said we couldn't do it. And yes, the outfit is hideous. But I always said that I would prove them wrong. And I didn't tell you guys because of the code."
"Well, in that case." Carlos jumped to his feet. "Go get 'em, my shiny, glittery best bud."
"You prove the Camerellis wrong. And skate! Skate like the wind!"
"Wait, you guys aren't mad?" Kendall asked, confused.
"No, we're..." Logan grimaced as he patted the boy's shoulder, quickly pulling his hand back. "Proud of you. You get out there and show the world that hockey skaters can skate just as well as figure skaters."
Kendall and Camille grinned, making their way past their friends up the stairs. Kendall turned to face the group, tearing off his sweatpants to reveal a pair of black pants as the group cheered them on.
Kendall glanced over at the short blonde girl, sending a wink her way before he raced into the building with Camille.
...
Kendall ended up in a boot with crutches and a very badly busted lip.
Camille had a concussion and broke her arm, so she had to wear a splint.
"Wow, you were awful." James admitted.
"He was." Logan agreed.
"Yeah, really bad." Lucy nodded.
"Now I know why they call it a death spiral." Carlos spoke out loudly, hitting Kendall's leg, causing the boy to cry out in pain.
"Honey, that's not how it was supposed to go." Dani shook her head.
"Okay, we tried it. It's over, and Camille's jaw is healing, right?" Kendall asked, causing the girl to mumble in response, making the group nod.
"Okay, let's just play a simple, non-violent game of truth or dare." Logan suggested, causing the group to all agree.
"I like it!"
Lucy flicked the spinner, and the first person it landed on was Dani, causing the group to cheer.
"Okay, Dani, truth or dare?" Lucy asked.
"Truth." Dani picked.
"When did you and Kendall start 'talking'?" Lucy asked, putting up air quotes when she said the word.
"Well, it kind of started off as this moment." Dani explained, glancing over at the boy.
"Which turned into harmless flirting." Kendall chimined in, causing the girl to nod.
"And then there was another one while we were singing a Christmas song together." Dani added, causing the other boys to nod.
"That did indeed happen." Logan said.
"But nothing happened because he was in a relationship, and I respected that."
"But then she moved to New Zealand, and so I asked Dani to prom. Where we beat James and were crowned Prom Queen and King."
"I was having a bad night, okay?" James snapped, causing everyone to chuckle.
"That's the night we admitted there was something there, and we've been spending more time together ever since." Dani finished, causing the boy to grab her hand, making her glance back over at him as they shared a smile.
"Aw, isn't that just romantic?" Lucy awed, causing Camille to mumble in agreement. "Wait, so you guys have been sneaking around behind their backs for months?"
"And I thought we were friends." Logan sarcastically spoke, causing Logan, James, and Carlos to fake gasp.
"You guys knew?" Kendall questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"Well, it's not like you guys were super secretive about it." James replied, causing the trio to nod along with Camille.
"I mean the constant glances at each other whenever you're around each other."
"Or the other person's face would instantly light up when the other person walked into the room."
"You would always sneak off together or whisper and laugh in the corner of the room."
"Also, Kendall was moping around every time we saw him when we had that Tiger Beat Contest." Carlos spoke up, causing Kendall to quickly wave his arm. "He got so jealous when you got paired up with that good-looking guy."
"Did he now?" Dani smirked, turning to look at the boy, causing him to quickly drop his arm, sending the girl a smile.
"Then, there was also Mother's Day, when you kissed him before you left."
"It was on the cheek!" Dani exclaimed. "So I guess we weren't super on the low about it."
"And you guys are okay with us being a thing?" Kendall asked, causing the three boys to share a look before nodding.
"Yeah, dude. We're happy for you guys." Logan spoke.
"And you guys will always be our best buds." Carlos grinned, causing the duo to chuckle.
