big time fans
Fan mail.
It's one of the major signs that you have a fan base and fans who actually care about you, your music, and the message that you are trying to put out. It's a sign that people are listening, and getting your first fan mail is only the beginning.
"Dogs." Gustavo called, gaining the attention of the five teens on the couch and chair as he stepped in front of them alongside Kelly. "Here's a little thing we like to call..."
"Fan mail!" Gustavo and Kelly exclaimed, dumping a bag full of envelopes and packages, causing the boys to all cheer excitedly as they shifted through the mail, causing Dani to shake her head as she chuckled at the group as she laid on the chair with her legs hanging off of the side.
"Dear Kendall, can you please, please, please, please, please, send a photo?" Kendall read the letter.
"I love BTR, but mostly James." Logan read with a big smile, causing James to smile. "Ha, she is wrong."
Logan threw the letter over his shoulder behind the couch.
"Logan, you're my favorite." Carlos read aloud, pointing at the boy, causing him to cheer. "P.S., please enjoy this meatloaf I made for you."
Carlos pulled out a meatloaf as he eyed it.
"Meatloaf!" Logan cheered.
"P.P.S., please give it to Carlos." Carlos lied, pretending to read the note as he looked around as Dani watched him.
"That's my meatloaf!" Logan exclaimed, standing from his spot on the couch as he tackled Carlos off the side of the couch.
Dani met eyes with Kendall as they both looked away from the two, causing them to chuckle at the duo's shenanigans.
"Well, I don't know about you guys, but I'm sending my fan a photo," Kendall announced.
Suddenly, the room filled with a loud siren, causing the teens to quickly cover their ears.
"Was the air horn really necessary?" Dani groaned, removing her hands from her ears once the sound stopped, watching as Kelly dragged in a chalkboard.
"Fan mail do's and don'ts."
"Do keep it short and simple." Gustavo explained. "Write things like, 'you rock too' and 'hey, thanks.'"
"Do sign your name. Fans love autographs." Dani added, snapping her fingers as she pointed at the guys.
"Don't give out any personal information or advice!" Gustavo exclaimed, hitting the stick against the board. "Otherwise, some crazed fan will show up on your front doorstep and ask you to help make them famous."
Dani quickly shot up from her position on the chair as she watched the chalkboard tip forward, knocking Gustavo and Kelly to the ground.
Dani watched in shock as a teenage bleach blonde girl stood behind the chalkboard, her eyes growing as she noticed the four boys sitting on the couch in front of her.
"Jenny Tinkler?"
"From homeroom?" Dani asked in shook, causing the four boys to nod.
"Guys, I did it!" Jenny exclaimed happily, holding up a signed photo of the band. "I packed up everything, and I moved to L.A. so you can help me be famous like you promised."
Gustavo and Kelly jumped up from the ground, quickly turning to the bleach blonde girl that stood between them.
"So, fangirl, which one of these lads gave you advice and the address to my studio?" Gustavo asked.
Dani watched as a guilty smile grew across Carlos' face as he awkwardly laughed before quickly running out of the room.
"Well, go get him!" Gustavo said, causing the four teens to quickly race after the boy.
They made their way to the coffee station as they noticed the boy's jacket sticking out of the cabinet. James walked ahead, snatching the door open to reveal the boy stacking cups.
"131, 132." Carlos counted, stacking the cups before looking up at the group. "Yup, they're all here."
"Grab him." Dani ordered, causing James and Logan to rush forward, pulling him out of the cabinet.
"You told Jenny to come out to L.A., and we'll help her make her dreams come true?" James questioned.
"Not in those exact words."
"Jenny!" Kendall read, lifting up the autographed photo Carlos sent to Jenny. "Come out to L.A., and we'll help make your dreams come true."
"I didn't think she would do it!" Carlos cried, causing Logan to snatch the paper from Kendall as he flipped the paper over.
"You wrote down the airline schedule and turn-by-turn directions to Rocque Records." Logan pointed out before Dani took the paper next.
"Which you said was for your mother, who was coming to visit when I gave them to you!" Dani exclaimed.
"You helped him!" Kendall shouted from the other side of Logan, causing the girl to turn to face him.
"Does it look like I knew he was going to give it to a crazy blonde fangirl who is obviously accident-prone instead of his mother?" Dani shot back, causing them to start bickering back and forth.
"Okay!" Logan exclaimed, causing the two to stop as they turned away as Dani crossed her arms with a pout.
"Is the bad stuff over?" Carlos questioned as James took the paper from Dani, and he flipped the paper back over.
"P.S., we promise we'll help you." James read.
"What did we tell you about making promises you can't keep?" Kendall said.
"But it's Jenny; we love Jenny," Carlos reminded the boys. "Plus, she said that she was our biggest fan."
"She did come all the way to Chicago to come to see us," Logan agreed.
"Look, I love that you are trying to help a dear friend, but this wasn't the way to go." Dani said, ignoring the two beside her.
"Besides, it's Jenny." Kendall exclaimed with wide eyes. "You know what happens around Jenny." Kendall made a big circle with his finger.
"Bad things, bad things," James said, staring off into space with a scared look.
"Fine." Carlos sighed, throwing his arms up. "I'm going to tell the girl who we've been friends with since pre-k that you guys don't want to help her and that she has to go back to Minnesota."
Carlos turned away with a sad face and slowly walked away.
"Stop!" Kendall exclaimed, causing the boy to quickly turn around with a giant smile. "We are a team. So if Carlos totally messes up and promised we'd help her, then we got to help her."
"But-."
Dani was cut off by the sound of the trombone and screaming.
"Jenny!" They all said together, racing out of the room as Dani crossed her arms as she stomped behind the group with James.
"Easy, Jenny, easy!" The boys said, they watched Jenny hit Kelly as she fell to the ground beside Gustavo.
Dani took a seat on the edge of a chair beside Kendall as she watched the girl.
"But it's time for the big finale!" Jenny said, excitedly.
Dani watched as the girl jumped around as she slid her trombone stick as she played, causing the boys to jump around trying to avoid her.
Kendall quickly dove over Dani's legs, but before he had the chance to pull the girl with him, Dani felt something graze under her eye before it crashed behind her, smashing into the AC.
"Ow!" Dani cried, quickly covering her eye.
"It's starting," James muttered.
"Sorry, people say I'm a little accident-prone."
"Yeah, no kidding!" Dani snapped, holding her eye.
"Get this out of here before it destroys the rest of my studio!" Gustavo exclaimed.
The boys quickly led the girl out of the studio while they tried to keep their distance.
"Jennings." Gustavo called, causing the girl to stand up as she moved her hand away from her face. "I want you to get that eye checked because I don't need you dripping blood all over my studio."
That caused Dani to look down at her hand as she saw blood.
"Got it," Dani sighed, sending her boss a small smile. Turning around, but quickly turning back around as Kelly called her name.
"This came in for you." Kelly said, handing over an envelope, causing Dani to smile a bit as she saw the return address.
"Thanks, Kelly."
Dani sent her a genuine smile before turning around, making her way out of Rocque Records.
...
As Dani made her way into the Palm Woods, she noticed a fire truck driving away from the building.
Dani quickly made her way through the Palm Woods but stopped as she noticed James and a smaller version of him walking behind him.
"Dani." They both smiled, doing the finger guns as they walked past the girl, causing her to roll her eyes before making her way to the elevator, making her way to the 2nd floor, and heading to the guy's apartment.
"What's with the fire trucks, and what's with the hole?" Dani asked, walking through the door, causing the three to turn from the wall to the girl, causing her to point to the hole in their wall.
Before anyone had the chance to answer, Bitters walked up behind the blonde girl.
"Get rid of it." Bitters ordered, drenched in water with his hand wrapped, a pen sticking out of it. "Your friend has been here for two hours and so far has trashed an elevator, broken a water main, ruined my favorite pen, and started two fires."
The sound of a fire truck filled the Palm Woods as firefighters ran past the opened apartment door.
"Make that three fires."
Bitters quickly rushed out of the room as he followed the firefighters to the apartment next to the guys.
"Whoa, what happened to your eye?" Carlos asked, causing the other two to quickly look at the girl as she looked away from the hole.
"Jenny?" Kendall asked with a small smile, causing the girl to nod.
"Yeah, Gustavo wanted me to get it checked, but it didn't really hurt, so I just didn't go." Dani explained, shrugging her shoulders.
The sounds of an explosion came from the hole in the wall as Jenny's voice followed.
"Sorry!"
"So good luck with... that, and if you need me, please don't." Dani said, sending a quick wave before leaving apartment 2J as she made her way back to her place.
Not long after cleaning her eye, Dani received an urgent message from Katie, causing the blonde to quickly rush from her apartment.
....
"Okay, what's wrong?" Dani gasped, leaning over with her hands on her knees as she tried to catch her breath.
"What happened to you?" Katie asked, quickly looking over at the panting blonde before her eyes went back to wanting to be James.
"You said you needed help and that it was an emergency and the elevator was taking forever, so I sprinted down the stairs."
"I think that little freak did something to James." Katie said worriedly, causing Dani to turn to the girl with a smirk.
"Woah, Katie, it sounds like you..." Dani started, but was cut off.
"I do not have a crush on James!" Katie exclaimed, turning to the blonde girl, causing her to chuckle.
"I was going to say it sounds like you actually care about him." Dani said, causing Katie to let out a sigh as she turned back to the pre-teen boy. "But that works too." Causing Katie to send her another look. "But it is definitely weird that James isn't here."
Dani followed Katie to the boy lying on the pool chair that James would usually be in, the duo stopping directly in front of him.
"Where's James?"
"You're looking at him," 'James' answered, taking his sunglasses off and smirking at Katie. "And I know you like what you see."
That caused Dani to let out a little snort, causing Katie to quickly look at her, making her quickly stop as the two turned back to the boy.
"She meant the real James; this is his prime tanning time, and he should be in his favorite chair as he destroys his skin cells." Dani explained, referring to the chair the kid was in. "Now where is James, you little twerp?"
"It's all in this letter James signed." The kid said, holding up a white envelope with James name on the front. "Which says he's going to Antarctica to save the Caribou."
Katie snatched the letter before quickly throwing it as Dani crossed her arms. "First off, there are no caribou in Antarctica."
"Second off, James doesn't even know what a caribou is, let alone how to find one." Dani added.
"Third off, tell us where James is, you little freak!" Katie demanded, causing the boy to shoot up from his seat.
"I'm James now; get used to it, 'cause there's nothin' you can do about it." The boy said holding his arms out, causing Dani to grab ahold of his arm, causing him to cry out. "Ow, ow, ow. He's in the basement; he's in the basement; he's in the basement."
"Works every time." Dani smirked, letting go of the boy and fist-bumping Katie. "Pleasure doing business with you, twerp. Let's go."
Dani quickly led the way to the basement as they found the real James locked in a dog cage, causing Katie to grab bolt cutters as she broke the lock, causing the boy to quickly exit the dog cage.
"Oh, thank you so much. He was so tiny and evil!" James cried out, quickly standing to his feet as he wrapped his arms around Dani's waist, hugging her as he lifted her off the ground, causing her to let out a little squeal before he set her down. Before he did the same to Katie, he quickly went back to acting cool after he put her back on the ground. "And if there's anything I can do for you, let me know."
"Actually-." Katie spoke, leaning over to grab something, causing James to look at Dani, making her shrug as they both turned their attention back to Katie. "Can I have your autograph?"
"Anything for my biggest fan." James said cockily, grabbing the papers from Katie and pointing the sharpie at her before he signed the paper without looking.
"Great! You just agreed to let me be your manager when you go solo, endorse a line of hair care products to be developed later, and swear that I don't, nor have I ever, had a crush on you."
Katie sent the boy a sweet smile before quickly turning around, leaving the two teens in the basement as they watched her go up the stairs.
"I've got to stop signing autographs." James groaned.
"That you do." Dani chuckled, turning to face the boy, to find him eating from a yellow bag that had a dog on it, causing her face to change to disgust. "Are you eating dog biscuits?"
"It's actually quite tasty. Want one?"
"That's disgusting." Dani said, shaking her head and making her way up the stairs as he quickly followed behind her as they made their way to the front of the Palm Woods to see Kendall, Carlos, Jenny, and Jenny's suitcases.
"My dreams are crushed, so now I'll sleep on the streets." Jenny said sadly.
"Welcome to Hollywood." Dani spoke, gaining the three's attention as she and James stopped beside them.
"Nobody is sleeping on the streets tonight." James said, pointing a dog biscuit at Jenny. "You can crash at Rocque Records."
"By crash, he means sleep." Kendall quickly corrected, holding his arms out at the girl, causing her to awkwardly grin.
"Is that a dog biscuit?" Carlos asked, scrunching up his nose.
"You know, it's really quite tasty." James admitted with his mouth full.
"Is that bacon and cheese?" Carlos asked, sniffing the air, causing James to hold the bag out towards Carlos, who went rushing at the bag and grabbed a handful.
"You guys are disgusting."
...
They had brought Jenny back to the studio; let's just say it was a big mistake.
The four teens quickly rushed down the stairs after the girl somehow fell through the ground.
As they raced, Dani saw that Jenny was covered in dust as she stood in front of two large men who were dressed like they were in a rock band: Logan, dressed as an electrician, along with Kelly and Gustavo.
"Jenny, are you okay?" The four quickly asked, worried.
"Is she okay? She's amazing!" The rocker holding a guitar exclaimed, gesturing towards the ceiling that she just came from.
"Quick, Jenny, sing!" Carlos and Kendall said, causing a soulful sound to come from the girl, surprising everyone.
I've been falling through the roof
I just fell down from the roof
Whoa!
"The girl does have a gift." Dani admitted, causing the three boys beside her to nod in agreement.
"You know, she can help us get that younger audience we're looking for," the brunette rocker said.
"Welcome to Death Smash!" The two rockers exclaimed, causing everyone to cheer as Dani high-fived the three boys beside her as Jenny and her new bandmates started jumping.
"No, Jenny!"
"Come on, Jenny, let's go get permission from your mum." The rocker said, sticking his arm out, causing her to quickly link her arm with his as she joyfully waved at everyone before the three quickly left the studio.
"Well, it looks like this story is wrapping up quite nicely." Kendall stated as Logan walked over to the group. Carlos wrapped his arm around Logan's and Dani's shoulders.
"And I will never, ever overpromise again, I promise." Carlos said just as the sound of a sad tuba filled the studio, causing the other four to look at the boy.
A guy playing the tuba stopped in between Gustavo and Kelly, and Dani quickly noticed the autographed photo of the guys in his hand that was identical to Jenny's.
"Buddy Simmons?!"
"Hey, guys! Carlos promised me he'd help with my dream of becoming a famous jazz tuba player!" Buddy said excitedly, holding up the signed paper.
"He said he was our biggest fan."
"You're so cut off."
