big time concert
An album is the outcome of an artist putting in their hard work, time, and tears into creating music that will touch their target audience.
It will also determine if the audience likes your music or not based on the sales of the album as well as concert tickets for the tour.
This was one of Dani's favorite parts of the making of an album with the artist after songwriting-the first reaction to the actual album.
Dani was standing beside Gustavo with a giant smile on her face as she waited for the boys as she bounced up and down.
"Stop," Gustavo demanded, holding his hand up, causing the girl to immediately turn to her boss.
"Come on, Gustavo! This is an exciting moment for all of us!" Dani said excitedly, holding up her copy of the album. "I mean, after 3 long months, the boys actually made an album, and I actually have writing credits on an album!"
Before Gustavo had the chance to respond to the blonde girl, the boys came rushing into the man's office, gaining everyone's attention.
"Well?!" The four exclaimed together, causing the man in front of them to jump before him and Kelly reached down, grabbing the box and pulling out the album.
"Schipingo!" Gustavo exclaimed, holding the album out to the boys, causing James to quickly grab it as they began to cheer, surrounding the small object, trying to get a look.
"And people can buy this... in stores?" Kendall aked.
"Not yet."
"The record company will not release it until..." Gustavo started standing up but was cut off by the ecstatic blonde girl.
"Can I tell them, please?" Dani begged, looking up at her boss with pleading eyes.
"I was going to tell them." Gustavo said, causing the pair to start bickering back and forth.
"Will one of you just please tell us!" Kendall exclaimed, gaining the duo's attention as the others nodded in agreement.
Dani quickly looked up at her boss with pleading eyes, causing him to let out a groan.
"Fine!" Gustavo said, causing the girl to cheer happily as she made her way to the projector screen.
"Okay! So the record company won't release it till they announce your big time." Dani announced, smiling from ear to ear as she lifted the screen, revealing a map with pins in different states. "Tour!"
"We're going on tour?"
"And your first concert is in two weeks." Gustavo explained, sticking another pin onto the map in California.
Dani chuckled as she watched the four boys go into a daydreaming state, 'holding' a mic and dancing as if they were on stage performing.
"Should I tell them that preparing for a concert will be the hardest thing they've ever done?" Gustavo asked, watching the band. "And that it's not in time square?"
"Oh, let them have their fantasy." Kelly said.
"Yeah!" Dani smiled. "Look, they're so happy! Just give them a moment."
"Fine, I'll give them another minute before I bust their bubble." Gustavo smirked, turning towards Dani and handing over the dog cones. "Jennings, bring them to the studio when they're done and make sure they put them on!"
"On it!"
Soon the boys came back to reality as they started talking excitedly amongst each other about what happened in their daydreams.
"Finally," Dani said, causing the four to jump as they turned towards the girl, causing her to send them a smile. "Once you guys are gone, it's so hard not to watch."
"Where'd Gustavo and Kelly go?" Carlos asked, looking around the room.
"The studio. Put these on."
Dani then led the boys into the studio, where she took a seat on the edge of the makeshift stage where Gustavo and Kelly were standing.
"The concert stage," Gustavo said, gesturing towards the stage they were standing on. "Where you will need intense focus."
"Incredible stamina, and..."
"Expert knowledge of every inch." Mr. X spoke, stepping to center stage.
"Why are we wearing dog cones?" Kendall asked, pointing at the thing on his neck.
"It's so that during your concert, you're looking at your fans and not your feet." Dani explained as Mr. X jumped from the stage.
"And to avoid extreme injury, you have to know without thinking and see without looking." Mr. X added. "Flippy Flip!"
"What if we have an itch?" Logan asked.
"Don't!" Gustavo exclaimed, causing the boys to jump.
"Places. Focus. Begin," Mr. X called, causing Dani to click play on the radio.
Dani watched as Kendall and James walked straight into each other, nearly knocking one another over, while Logan and Carlos spinned directly into the drums, causing her to stop the music.
"They actually lasted longer than I expected." Mr. X said, causing Dani to nod in agreement as the boys quickly got back into their places. "Again!"
Dani sat and watched the boys fall, crash, and knock over almost everything on the stage more than once.
But once all four boys fell off the stage from the spotlight test, Gustavo clearly didn't know what to do.
"I will x-pediate their training," Mr. X said, making an X with his hands as Dani walked forward to help the boys off the ground. "And have them x-ready."
"Great, now let's move on to the hard part of your training, "Gustavo announced.
"Run!" Logan screamed, causing all four boys to quickly make a run for it out of the studio, causing Dani to chuckle as she shook her head.
"Seen that one coming," Dani said, jumping back onto the side of the stage as she sent her boss a smile.
...
"Okay, time for fan preparedness training with the number one teen idol, Dak Zevon." Gustavo announced, causing the boy to come in, standing in front of Gustavo, Kelly, Freight Train, and Dani.
"Dani," The teen idol winked, sending the girl his million-dollar smile as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "I'm still waiting for that date."
"Zevon, I already told you, I'm going to pass. I'd rather not have millions of preteen girls sending me death threats every second of every day." Dani responded, sending a small smile, pushing off his arm, and crossing her arms before they both turned their attention back to the boys.
"I thought I'd try. Guys, fans are your friends, but they can also be frenzied. Which is why lesson one of the Zevon method is Proper Fan Interaction, or P'FIE." Dak explained, making his way to the whiteboard beside Dani as he hit it with the yardstick before pulling out a whistle as he blew it, causing a swarm of 'fans' to come in as Dak made his way onto the stage. "Okay, now, observe carefully how I demonstrate the mosh pit hand slap."
Dani watched Dak successfully do the hand slap, but for James, it was a different story; he was dragged off the stage and directly into the mosh pit.
The other three attempted it together, and all were successful, even though you could tell how scared they were.
"Excellent." Dak said, causing the boys to high-five as James was tossed back onto the stage, causing Dani to giggle at how confused the boy was. "Now, security guards will protect you from 99% of the crowd," Freight Train appeared in front of the mosh pit, causing everyone in the mosh pit to back up slightly. "But 1% of your fan base will be insane and get to you."
Out of nowhere, a screaming girl jumped onto Kendall's back, attacking the boy, causing all four of them to scream in fear, and not too long after, the other three were dragged into the mosh pit because they were standing too close to the edge.
"This is so bad," Dani said, shaking her head as she watched with wide eyes, standing beside Kelly as she and Gustavo covered their eyes.
...
"Boys, I am proud of you."
Dani was sitting on the edge of the couch as she washed off the rest of the dry blood from Logan's face; Carlos was getting his head wrapped by an EMT; an officer was trying to remove the crazed fan from Kendall's back; and James was staring at his wrapped arms with wide eyes.
"This concert is going to take BTR to the next level." Gustavo explained. "And you have your first dress rehearsal in three days."
"And we want you to invite all of your friends from the Palm Woods so you can practice your stage swagger." Kelly added, holding up the passes before tossing them to Dani.
"I'm on it!" Dani said.
"So you're going to drive us back to the Palm Woods, right?" Carlos asked, holding his head.
"No. A concert can last two hours, and you'll need more endurance than a marathon runner carrying a cow." Mr. X explained, coming out of nowhere.
"Which is why you'll be running back to the Palm Woods, carrying these microphones." Dak announced, pulling out mics before tossing them to the guys.
Dani passed the boys as they ran singing 'Big Time Rush' as she drove back to the Palm Woods.
...
Dani watched as all four boys crashed onto the seats around the fire pit beside the pool as she approached along with Camille and Jo, handing them all cold water.
"Are you guys going to make it to the next two weeks for your concert?" Jo asked, concerned.
The four all took the water before they all proceeded to dump it all over their bodies.
"Yep, and it's gonna rock!" Kendall explained.
"Plus, you and all the Palm Woods are invited to their dress rehearsal." Dani announced, handing all the passes to Camille. "V.I.P., of course."
"Cool." Camille grinned, looking over at Jo. "We're V.I.P."
"Someday we'll be able to say we knew them when." Jo said sarcastically as the girls all turned to the boys.
"Hey, someday is today." James explained, standing up from his seat. "I have dreamed about this for so long, and it's finally going to happen."
Next thing you know, the crazed fan that was attached to Kendall earlier attached herself to James, causing Camille and Jo to look from Dani to the guys with wide eyes.
"Don't worry about that; it's part of our training."
...
The next three days were nothing but hard work and practice.
From the mosh pit with cones.
Running in place and being sprayed with the water hose.
Spotlight tests.
Hand slaps.
The crazed fan.
It was finally the day of the boys' dress rehearsal.
Dani was sitting on the edge of the stage in the empty room as she glanced around.
"Hey, Dani!" the voice said, snapping her out of her thoughts as she noticed it was the guys; the voice belonged to Carlos.
"Hey, guys," Dani smiled.
"Why are you sitting in here alone?" Kendall asked, jumping onto the stage beside her, followed by the other three: James on her other side, Logan beside him, and Carlos beside Kendall.
"Just thinking," Dani replied, shrugging, causing the guys to look at her, waiting for her to explain. "It's just that, growing up, it was always my dream to become famous like you guys are. You know, make an album, sell out arenas, and perform on a stage like this in front of a large crowd."
"We never knew that you wanted to be a pop star," James said.
"Yeah, it's not something I talk about much anymore." Dani sighed. "My mom always told me that music wouldn't lead me anywhere in life and that she didn't want to watch me just throw my life away."
"But you work for a music producer?"
"Yeah, and you've also written so many amazing songs for us and have helped some major celebrities." Logan pointed out. "Your mom's got to be proud of that."
"Yeah, I wouldn't know. I haven't talked to my mom in almost 2 years." Dani admitted, looking down again, feeling the tears trying to well up in her eyes. She felt two hands on her shoulder, causing her to smile at the four of them in appreciation. "It's fine; that's a story for another time. Besides, the Palm Woods have become my home, and you guys have become my family."
"I know that my mom loves having you around," Kendall said, wrapping his arm around the girl, causing the girl to place her head on his shoulder. "You've grown a special place in her heart, and Katie loves you."
"Yeah, you have one special mom. I also love Katie as if she were my own sister. She reminds me so much of myself when I was her age."
"Are you talking about the same Katie? As in Katie Knight?" James asked, causing them all to chuckle as Dani nodded.
"Yeah, she's a really great kid."
The room went silent for a second as the group just enjoyed each other's presence, soaking up what was and was about to be.
"Let's go." Dani spoke up, letting out a chuckle as she glanced over at the four boys with a grin as she jumped off the stage. "You guys have a dress rehearsal to get ready for."
...
Dani was standing between Gustavo and Griffin as they all watched the boy perform 'Someday' at their dress rehearsal.
Dani watched with a big smile on her face as she swayed along to the music.
The guys were actually killing their performance.
They survived the hand-slap.
Logan dodged the crazed fan girl.
Continued going during the spotlight.
They also looked and sounded amazing.
"Bravo!" Griffin exclaimed, moving forward from his spot as the performance ended. "Watching you boys go from nobodies to somebodies has been more thrilling than hunting humans. Which is why it hurts me to say the album, tour, and this concert... are cancelled."
"What!" Gustavo and Kelly exclaimed.
"What?" The boys yelled together.
Even the crowd yelled in confusion after the boys just killed the performance; Dani even heard Katie yell.
"What?" Griffin said, turning around to face Gustavo, Kelly, and Dani, who stayed silent. "I mean, yeah. Big Time Rush is dead."
"You can't just do that," Dani spoke, looking up at the man as she felt tears forming but kept them back as the boys joined them as she grabbed onto Carlos' arm.
"Technically, I can, and I am."
"What do you mean the band is dead?" Everyone else yelled.
"Accounting has just released their risk and feasibility report on Big Time Rush, and they decided it was too risky and not feasible."
Griffin's assistant threw the report at Gustavo.
"We're shifting our strategy to children's books on tape. No tour support is required. They have a higher profit margin and are super cheap to make." The female marketer explained.
"Which is why tomorrow Gustavo will be producing Can You Foo? as read by actor-environmentalist Ed Begley Jr." Griffin announced, pulling out a book.
"I'm sorry," Dani said, shaking her head as she let go of the boy's arm, quickly making her way out of the studio before the tears could start falling, ignoring the calls of her friends.
"It's a shame; I actually liked her. She had fire and talent. Which is why it pains me to say she's fired too."
"You can't fire Dani!" Carlos protested.
"This is her life and her home!" Kendall added.
"She has done so much for this company, you can't just fire her!" Gustavo exclaimed.
"She was good at writing music. Now that you guys are no longer a part of Rocque Records and we are shifting our audience towards something new, she is no longer needed." Griffin said, turning to his assistant. "Make sure you send her a fruit basket."
"She hates fruit." Logan informed the man.
"Really?" Griffin asked, causing everyone to nod. "Well, send her a cupcake basket."
...
That night, Dani cried herself to sleep as she thought about how the people who changed her life after three short months were leaving her.
It also didn't help when she woke up to a basket from Griffin at her door telling her she was fired with her final check.
That morning, Dani was in her kitchen baking cookies as she let her Big Time Rush CD flood her apartment as she quietly sang along as she thought about the good times she'd had with the boys.
The corndog lunches she had every Friday with Carlos.
All the pep talks and advice she was given from Kendall.
James' advice on all things hair-related and their bond over music.
Her study sessions with Logan, he helped her with things she didn't understand.
Even Katie meant the world to her; she always went to Dani for advice or just to hang out with her to get away from the guys.
Mama Knight always invited the girl over for family game night or movie night, and Dani always appreciated the gestures.
As Dani finished packing the final container of cookies into a bag, she looked at her clock, noticing the time and quickly throwing her apron off and grabbing the bags before racing out of her apartment.
As she made her way to the lobby, she saw Kendall, Carlos, Logan, James, Katie, and Mama Knight.
"Dani!" Katie exclaimed, running straight for the girl as she wrapped her arms tightly around her. "I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too, Katiebug," Dani said, sitting her chin on the girl's head as she felt a tear roll down her face before letting her go as she embraced Mama Knight. "Goodbye, Mama Knight."
"Goodbye, sweetheart." Mama Knight smiled, resting her hand on the girl's face.
Dani watched as Mama Knight and Katie made their way out of the lobby, causing Dani to turn to face her boys.
"Hey," Dani whispered, her voice cracking as she smiled lightly at the guys.
"Hey."
"I guess this is it," Dani said.
"This can't be it!" Carlos cried, shaking his head. "We've come so far."
"We're going on tour in a week." James said forcefully, with a smile on his face, as if he were trying to assure himself that everything was just a dream.
"James," Dani softly spoke, placing her hand on the boy's shoulder, causing him to look down at her before she wrapped her arms around the boy. She felt the other three joining in, forming a group hug around the small blonde before letting go. "I'm so sorry, guys."
"Boys, the car's here."
"Are you going to be okay?" Kendall asked, looking down at the girl.
"Yeah." Dani answered, sending a small smile as she felt another tear fall. "It's just a lot to take in, you know. I used to have nothing. Then I got this amazing job... this family... but I guess nothing is meant to last forever."
"Take care of yourself, Danisaurs." Kendall said, wrapping the girl in a hug and making her nod.
"And hey, if you're ever in Minnesota, make sure you come visit," James ordered, hugging her next.
"Of course," Dani chuckled through tears.
"Make sure you eat a cookie for me," Carlos said, wrapping his arms around the girl as she cried into his shoulder.
Dani let go of Carlos before Logan wordlessly wrapped his arms around the girl.
"These are for you guys." Dani said, grabbing the bags from the ground and handing them over to Kendall. "There are some cookies in each one, plus something to remember me bye. There's also something for your mom and Katie."
"Thanks, Dani, for everything."
The four boys made their way to the lobby door, stopping as they turned around and sent the girl one last wave before walking out of sight, causing more tears to roll down her cheek.
Dani was now jobless and had just lost some of her best friends; she didn't want to lose her home too.
There was only one thing Dani could do to help keep her home, so she pulled out her phone, calling the one person she knew that could help her.
"Hey Mac, it's me, Dani. Are you guys still looking for an opener?"
...
After a few days of being cooped up in her apartment feeling depressed, Dani decided it was time to get out.
Dani decided to head out to sit next to the pool with her song book when she saw everyone looking upset-everyone being Camille, Jo, Guitar Dude, some randoms who are always by the pool, even Lightning, who was sadly laying on one of the chairs.
"Um, hey guys." Dani greeted, sending a small wave as she approached them and taking a seat at the foot of Jo's chair as she had her knees to her stomach. "Why's everyone looking so down?"
"This place has been so depressing since the guys left." Camile admitted, looking over at Dani and Jo.
"And the music doesn't help!" Jo exclaimed, causing them all to stare at Guitar Dude, causing him to quickly stop strumming his guitar.
"What's everyone so down about?" a familiar voice asked, gaining everyone's attention and seeing Kendall, Logan, and Carlos.
"Kendall!" Jo was the first one to hop up from her seat, hugging Kendall.
"Logan!" Camille exclaimed, wrapping her arms around the brunette boy.
"Lightning!" Carlos exclaimed as the dog jumped into the boy's hands, gaining everyone's attention, causing Dani to laugh at the boy. "Okay, guys. Um, after the concert, I need to get a girlfriend."
"How about a hug from your best friend?" Dani said, wrapping her arms around him tightly before letting go as she realized what he said. "Wait seriously?"
"The concert's back on?" Jo asked, causing Kendall to nod.
"As soon as we find James." Logan answered.
"Yeah, has anybody seen him?".
"Uh, yeah, he's living here, in your old apartment." Camille answered.
"Wait, James has been back?" Dani asked, looking at Camille and Jo, causing them to nod. "That explains the noise."
Dani tagged along with Kendall, Logan, and Carlos to apartment 2J to speak with James about getting the band back together.
As the four stood at the door anxiously, Kendall finally rang the doorbell as the sound of a gong rang through the halls, scaring the group with the sudden sound.
"May I help you?" An older man asked, opening the door dressed as if he were a butler.
"Yeah, we're looking for James." Kendall replied.
"Do come in." The man spoke, opening the door wider as he stepped out of the way.
"We shall come in." Logan said hesitantly, causing the group to walk in immediately, noticing the changes in the apartment.
"This is our old apartment." Kendall questioned in disbelief, looking around the room confused, noticing the giant photo of James.
"Those are sushi chefs." Logan pointed out as two chefs popped out from behind the counter, scaring the group.
"Oh!" Carlos exclaimed, gripping onto the girl and pointing at the spiral staircase. "And what happened to swirly?"
"And what about the comfortable orange couch?" Dani pouted, noticing that the couch was no longer in the room. "I really liked that couch."
"Hey, what are you guys doing here?!" James excitedly asked, coming down the stairs before his attitude changed. "I mean... what are you guys doing here?"
"Big Time Rush is back together," Kendall happily announced.
"Yes, so... let's get dressed and go."
"Yeah, and what happened to swirly?" Carlos asked.
"And the orange couch?" Dani questioned.
"We gotta get back to Rocque Records to get ready for the concert." Kendall said.
"Yeah. No." James shook his head, causing the smile to leave Dani's face.
"What do you mean, no?" Dani asked. "I thought this was your dream."
"It is. You see, Hawk signed me to a three-record deal, modified the crib to suit my new personal style. And gave me... Sebastian!"
"Hot towel, lady and gentleman?" Sebastian asked, causing the three boys to automatically take one, but before Dani could warn them, they all let out screams, falling to the ground.
"Idiots." Dani muttered.
"Ooh, and, as I recall, you were the ones who told me to get real and move on. So I did." James smiled, causing Dani to turn towards the other three once again.
"You idiots said what?" Dani snapped, causing them to send her a sheepish smile.
"Megaphone for emphasis, sir?" Sebastian asked, holding out a tray that held a megaphone.
"Ooh, yeah," James said, grabbing it before he turned back to the group, yelling into it. "I rock!"
"James, I was mad, okay?" Kendall confessed. "We shouldn't have broken up the band. But we've always promised since we were peewee hockey players that we would stick together."
"Ooh, and you've never broken a promise?"
"We might be horrible people," Logan sighed.
"Look, you guys can fix whatever it is later. First, we need to fix this band." Dani announced, causing the three to agree as the small blonde girl turned to James. "Look, James, they're obviously sorry for what they said to you. This is important, not just for you guys but for me as well, so please let's go."
"He's not going anywhere." Hawks' voice boomed through the apartment as he made his way down the stairs, his assistant trailing closely behind. "Because he's got everything he needs here. Right, James?"
"Some toys or money, sir?" Sebastian asked, holding out a tray filled with things, and James opted for a Rubix cube.
"You guys told me to move on, so I did!"
"I also heard from a little birdie that you are in need of a new job, Miss Jennings." Hawk said, smiling at Dani. "What if you come to Hawk Records and work for me?"
"Never in a million years," Dani scoffed. "I have too much respect for Gustavo."
"What a shame." Hawk said, letting out a fake sigh as he turned to his assistant. "Well, now my assistant, Rebecca, will show you all to the door."
"She's going to show us the door?" Carlos chuckled.
Dani watched as Rebbeca kicked Kendall and Carlos out the door before she felt herself being lifted off the ground and thrown over Logan's shoulder as he ran out of the room and down the hallway.
"I can take her!"
...
"What do you mean James isn't coming back?" Gustavo exclaimed, slamming his hands onto the box table they were sitting at.
"He got a three-record deal," Kendall informed the man.
"And his own Sebastian." Carlos cried.
"I could get you a three-record deal and a Sebastian!" Gustavo said, turning to Kelly and Dani. "What's Sebastian?"
"Not as important as getting James back," Dani said.
"Gustavo, we're eating PB&J on box furniture." Logan reminded the man.
"You just have to nail this concert!" Gustavo shouted.
"What concert?" Katie asked, causing Dani to turn around and look at the young girl. "There's no Big Time Rush without James."
"She has a point." Dani said, knowing the girl was right, that it was weird only having the three boys.
"Then we'll find a new James." Kendall declared, turning to face Logan and Carlos. "If he thinks he can do without us, then we can do without him."
"He's right; bands replace members all the time."
"The Rolling Stones had three guitarists," Mama Knight said.
"Destiny's Child did replace every member except for Beyonce." Dani chimed in.
"And there have been three Britney Spears." Gustavo spoke.
"I don't think there has." Dani shook her head.
"Let's get a new James!"
...
Let's just say finding a new James is harder than it seemed.
There was the guy with the look, but he sounded horrible.
Then there was a 'rapper' who couldn't dance.
The mariachi player with a guitar.
A monk.
A nerd.
Even an opera singer who broke Gustavo's glasses.
But none of them had the potential to be as good as James.
"Kelly, is there anybody else left in the hallway?" Gustavo asked, taking off his now-broken glasses.
Kelly let out a sigh, looking at the list. "Just some guy named Skippy Hickenlooper."
The name alone caused the group to groan, dropping their heads on the cardboard table in defeat.
If you want it all
Lay it on the line
It's the only life you got
So you gotta live it big time
Dani raised her head just in time to see the boy do a backflip, landing it perfectly as he finished with a point.
Dani also noticed that he was dressed just like James and also kind of sounded similar to the Diamond boy.
"Welcome to Big Time Rush!" Gustavo exclaimed, standing from his seat as he pointed at the guy, causing Dani and the boys to stand as they clapped for him, causing him to cheer happily.
"I'm so excited! I must now tell my dark overlord, Zorblok." Skippy said, happily, bending forward as he began speaking darker. "Lord Zorblok, the time of prophecy is upon us."
The boy began running in circles as he made a sound while still bending over, before he ran and threw himself at the wall of boxes across the room, falling to the ground, causing Dani to snicker.
"Yeah, that's not weird at all." Dani sarcastically said, eyeing the boy on the ground.
"Maybe we can't replace James." Kendall stated, causing the others to share their heads.
"Big Time Rush is now a trio." Gustavo announced, walking out of the studio, causing the others to quickly follow.
...
Dani sat between Katie and Mama Knight as they watched the boys attempt to perform Famous, but you could easily tell something was missing in the sound and by the looks-that something was a person, James.
"Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop!" Gustavo exclaimed, causing Dani to cut the music. "Need I remind you that we have a concert in two days! And I put everything on the line for you, and you stink!"
"Yeah, well, the choreography is completely different with just the three of us." Logan explained.
"Everything's different with just the three of us." Carlos admitted.
"Look, don't worry, we'll figure this out." Kendall said. "Have we ever let you down?"
"Have they ever let me down?" Gustavo sarcastically laughed, looking over at everyone in the booth with him, causing them to shake their heads. He quickly stopped laughing as he turned back to the boys. "That's not the point. The point is that James is not coming back. Now, I don't care what you sing, but look like you're enjoying it, or I will destroy all of you!."
Kendall's face changed from a defeated look to a smudged smile as he started singing.
Oh, your such a turd
Oh yeah, a giant turd
And you look like a turd
And you smell like a turd
"Well, they do seem to be enjoying it," Dani chucked as she watched her friends have fun with a small smile on her face.
And you sme-ee-e-ee-ell like a turd
James' voice rang from the doorway of the studio as he finished the song, causing Dani's smile to grow.
"I'm going to be rich!" Katie exclaimed, throwing her hands up, causing Dani to chuckle as the adults gave her a look. "I mean, hooray for friendship."
Dani quickly made her way from the booth into the studio as she watched Carlos set James back on the ground.
"Big Time Rush is back together!" Carlos cheered.
"Yeah, I felt bad knowing how much you all missed me." James said, causing Dani to roll her eyes as she hugged the boy.
"And you're not going to miss the cool pad, the hot towels, and Sebastian?" Logan asked.
"Yes, no, and yes!" James answered, causing them all to chuckle.
"Well, don't sweat it, because once we nail the concert, we're going to go back to the Palm Woods and get our own Sebastian, right?"
"And what about Hawk?" Kelly asked, looking over to Gustavo.
"We'll talk about your Sebastian later, and we've got bigger problems than Hawk!" Gustavo shouted. "As in, the concert is in two days, we haven't sold a single ticket, and all the posters are now wrong!"
"Don't worry. Katie will donate her posters." Mama Knight offered, showing the posters with all four members that Katie was planning on selling.
"No, I won't."
I'll give you 500 bucks for all of them and a shirt." Dani offered, holding up the money.
"But I also get concession space for my hats and t-shirts." Katie demanded as she popped up next to the Jennings girl wearing her BTR apparel, quickly grabbing the money.
"Deal. Kelly, What money do we have left in the budget for street team advertising and local TV spots?"
"We got 5 bucks and a punch card for one free Schmetzel's pretzel." Kelly answered, pulling everything out of her pockets.
"We'll go back to the Palm Woods and get some street team volunteers." Kendall said.
"And I think I may know a way we can get some free TV spots." Logan added.
"Well, what are you waiting for? I can't sell this band to investors if we don't sell out the concert."
"That means go!" Dani exclaimed, shooing the boys out of the studio as they all got to work.
...
The next two days, the group did everything that they possibly could to get the word out about the Big Time Rush concert being back on.
Gustavo and Kelly were in charge of getting the investors.
Kendall and Jo were hanging up posters all over L.A.
Dani was with James and Carlos, handing out flyers outside of Rocque Records.
Guitar Dude and Lightning were also handing out flyers, but in a different part of Los Angeles.
Logan was getting TV time with Katie, Camille, and other Palm Woods teens.
It was officially the night of the concert, and the show was completely sold out.
"Okay, all that is left to do is-oh right-the concert!" Gustavo exclaimed.
"Gustavo..." Kendall started.
"Have we ever let you down?"
The four boys quickly made a weird pose, causing Dani to let out a chuckle.
"I'll let you know after tonight." Gustavo replied.
"You guys should probably head to your dressing room and start getting ready for tonight." Dani spoke.
"Yeah, so you can rock this place for your fans and for my big investors." Gustavo said, pointing at the V.I.P. area that was in the process of being set up.
The boys quickly raced backstage, beyond excited to see their own dressing room.
"Now we wait."
...
"Oh, god, I can't find them anywhere!" Kelly exclaimed, making her way back to the two.
"I couldn't find them either." Dani said, worriedly, looking from Gustavo to Kelly.
"Oh, what are the words I'm looking for?" Gustavo rhetorically asked, placing a finger on his chin as if he were thinking. "Oh, yeah... where are they?!"
"Gustavo!" One of the investors exclaimed, gaining the trio's attention as he waved to them, causing Kelly and Gustavo to weirdly wave back.
"That's really subtle." Dani sarcastically said, causing them to quickly put their hands down.
"Don't worry. The concert doesn't start for 20 minutes."
"Kelly's right." Dani agreed. "Besides, the boys have never let you down. I'm sure they'll be here; they probably just needed some air or something."
"Just stay calm!" Kelly exclaimed, grabbing Gustavo by his coat as she pulled him close to her face.
"Okay." Gustavo whispered.
It had been over 20 minutes; the boys had yet to show up, and the crowd had begun chanting their name.
"Don't panic!" Kelly snapped as the three peeked around the curtain. "Bands go on late all the time; it's a rock and roll tradition."
"Right, we'll just stall them and keep the curtain down."
Dani felt the curtain begin rising as the sound of the crowd cheering filled her ears, but it went quieter when they only saw the band on stage.
Gustavo grabbed onto Kelly as she lifted off the ground with the curtain, trying to pull her down.
As the trio made it to the side stage, they found Hawk standing there waiting for them.
"Gustavo, did you not want the curtain open?".
"Hawk, I should have known it was you!" Gustavo exclaimed, going to charge at the man, but quickly stopped when Hawk's assistant, Rebecca, stepped out in front of the man.
"You remember my assistant, Rebecca?" Hawk asked, causing Gustavo to wave.
Dani's attention snapped to the crowd as the room went quiet.
"Aww, the crowd stopped cheering. This is the part where I laugh evilly." Hawk said, laughing like a maniac before cawing.
Dani watched as the investors began to leave along with the crowd.
"Oh, look, all the people are leaving," Hawk said.
"Oh, this can't be happening. They've never let me down!"
"Don't worry, boss, I got this." Dani reassured the man, quickly grabbing a microphone and a stand before she quickly rushed onto the stage.
She sent the band a nod as she headed for center stage.
The girl let out a nervous breath as the music filled her ears, gaining everyone's attention, causing people to quickly come back.
Dani didn't even notice the boys rushing in on the side stage as she let the music take over.
"Sorry, we're late, Gustavo." Kendall apologized as the four boys came rushing up behind him, shocking Hawk and his assistant.
"Yeah, we got a little tied up." Logan informed him.
"Is that Dani on stage?" Carlos asked, pointing towards the stage.
"She's finally going to have her moment." James smiled, causing the four boys to fist-bump.
Your eyes
Crashin' into my eyes
Was I accidentally falling in love?
Your words
Didn't mean to heal the hurt
Were coincidentally more than enough
All these days I never thought
That I would need someone so much
Who knew?
But I don't think I ever planned
For this helpless circumstance
With you
You're scared, I'm nervous
But I guess that we did on purpose, on purpose, on purpose
Baby, I know it's weird, but it's worth it
'Cause I guess that we did it on purpose, on purpose, on purpose
But I guess that we did it on purpose
But I guess that we did it on purpose
My dreams running into your dreams
It's as if we wished on the same star
And maybe my time changing all of your time
It's a butterfly effect on my heart
And all these days I never thought
That I would need someone so much
Who knew
Who knew, no-no
And I don't think I ever planned
For this helpless circumstance
With you
Oh, woah
You're scared, I'm nervous
But I guess that we did on purpose, on purpose, on purpose
Baby, I know it's weird, but it's worth it
'Cause I guess that we did it on purpose, on purpose, on purpose
On purpose
But I guess that we did it on purpose
But I guess that we did it on purpose
Lost in darkness
You're my focus
Love me hopeless
But I guess that we did it on purpose
Lost in darkness
You're my focus
Love me hopeless
Oh, you're scared
You're scared, I'm nervous
But I guess that we did on purpose, on purpose, on purpose
Baby, I know it's weird, but it's worth it
'Cause I guess that we did it on purpose, on purpose, on purpose
"Okay, I want to take this time to introduce you guys to tonight's amazing band. Can everyone give them a round of applause?" Dani smiled, causing the crowd to cheer as she went through each band member. "And my name's Dani!"

As the music faded, the crowd roared loudly, causing the girl to let out a chuckle as she took it all in. Glancing to the side stage, she noticed the boys cheering along with Gustavo and Kelly, causing her to smile even bigger.
"Now, the band that you've all been waiting for-give it up for Big Time Rush!" Dani exclaimed, causing the crowd to cheer louder as she ran off the stage, hi-fiving the boys as they went on stage.
"Hit It!"
The music for Famous began to shake the building.
Halfway through the show, the backstage area was flooded with investors wanting to sign the group to their labels, but what shocked Dani was when Griffin pushed his way to the front.
"A three-record deal, a worldwide tour, and the immediate release of their album!"
"My mansion back, my studio fully restocked, Jennings gets her job back, and the dogs want something called a Sebastian." Gustavo demanded, causing Dani to smile as the man fought for her.
"I can do even better than that." Griffin said, stepping towards the young blonde, making her raise her eyebrow. "How would you like to sign with Rocque Records as an artist?"
"Wait, are you serious?" Dani asked in disbelief, causing the man to nod. "I don't know what to say. I would have to talk with my team. Gustavo?"
"Deal!"
"And I want you to go straight back to that studio and write 100 times, 'I will never do this to Big Time Rush and Dani again'." Kelly demanded, causing Griffin to quickly run off.
Dani turned her attention back to the stage, watching the boys finish the song before fans quickly rushed the stage, causing the boys to run as they were chased out of the building.
"You got to love fangirls." Dani chuckled.
...
Dani was sitting on the edge of the stage, strumming a guitar, when the sound of the door slamming shut caught her attention.
"Look who's still alive," Dani teased. "I thought I was going to have to send a search party."
"That was amazing." James sighed, falling back onto the stage beside the girl. "The girls love us."
"Wait till we travel around the world for our tour!" Logan exclaimed ecstatically with a big smile. "We are going to be so famous."
"We also heard that you got your job back." Kendall said, causing the girl to nod with a smile.
"Yeah... I actually need to talk to you guys. It's about the tour."
"The five of us are going to have the time of our lives!" Carlos exclaimed.
"I mean, think of all the places we'll get to see." Logan added.
"I'm not going on tour with you guys." Dani announced, causing them all to go quiet.
"What do you mean, I thought Griffin gave you your job back?" Kendall questioned.
"He gave me a job." Dani replied, causing the boys to grow confused. "You're looking at Rocque Records newest recording artist."
That caused the boys to cheer as they congratulated the girl.
"Wait, I don't understand, so why can't you go on tour with us?" James asked.
"Well, when you guys left for Minnesota and there was no band and I had no job, I kind of told Mac that I would go on tour with him and the band as their opener. And since they added earlier dates to the tour, I have to leave in a week."
"So we won't see you for three months," Carlos asked.
"I'm so sorry guys; if I had known Gustavo was going to go out his way and get the band back together, I would have never agreed to the tour in the first place." Dani sighed, pulling out her phone. "Look, if me being there means that much to you guys, I will call him back and tell him I changed my mind."
"No. You won't." Kendall stated, grabbing the girl's phone, causing her to look at him. "Dani, you deserve this opportunity more than anyone. You were the one who told us when we first got here that we shouldn't give up, and you shouldn't either."
"Kendall's right, this is your dream." Logan added. "I mean, yeah, of course we're going to miss you, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Take it and go."
"Big Time!"
"Are you guys sure?" Dani questioned.
"There's always the next tour, right?" Carlos stated, sending the girl an encouraging smile.
"Yeah." Dani nodded. "Thanks guys. You know for understanding."
"That's what friends are for!" James said, throwing his arm over the girl's shoulder. "Alright, now bring it on!"
That caused them all to chuckle, standing from their spots as they all gathered around Dani for a big hug.
