big time camping
"No."
"Please Dani." The boys begged.
"No, I hate camping." Dani said, causing the boys to gasp loudly.
"Take it back." James demanded, causing the girl to roll her eyes.
"Look, I'm sorry, but I just don't have a very fond memory of camping, okay." Dani shrugged, causing the boys to look at her, interested. "And no, I won't tell you."
"Come on, Dani. It'll be the best camping trip you've ever been on!" Carlos assured the girl. "It's going to be so much fun."
"Yeah, because sitting in the middle of the woods full of bugs, waiting for a bear to come and steal your food, just screams fun."
"See, you get it." Logan grinned as the boys nodded, causing the girl to roll her eyes as she turned her attention back to her book.
"Kendall." The three boys exclaimed, looking over at the boy as they nodded to the girl, causing him to let out a huff.
"Dani... Danisaurs... girlfriend." Kendall nervously chuckled, taking a step toward the girl, causing her to raise her eyebrow. "Don't you want to come and spend some quality time with your best buds and boyfriend that you love so much?"
The four boys pushed their heads together as they grinned at the girl, causing her to look at all of them before she looked back down.
"No." Dani answered, causing the boys to let out a huff as they pulled apart as the girl looked back up. "Besides, do you guys really think Gustavo's going to let you go camping?"
"Of course. He loves us." Carlos stated, causing the boys to nod in agreement.
"Sure he does." Dani sarcastically said, pushing herself off the couch. "If you guys need me, I'll be at the Palm Woods with Jo and Camille. Please don't get eaten alive by a bear or worse, Gustavo."
Before they had the chance to say anything, Dani quickly kissed Kendall goodbye before heading out of the studio.
...
"I thought you said the guys had left to go camping?" Jo questioned, causing the Jennings girl to nod.
"They did."
"Isn't that them over there?" Jo pointed at the boys sitting around the firepit by the Palm Woods pool.
"Hey. I wasn't expecting to see you guys back so soon." Dani said as the trio approached the four sulking boys.
"I thought you were going camping?" Camille added.
"Well, according to Gustavo, we're not allowed to be one with the trees and the soil, and the stars." Kendall explained.
"And camp outdoors." James added.
"I know where you can go camping with the trees and stars without breaking Gustavo's rules." Jo announced.
"We're listening." The four boys leaned forward, sitting on the edge of their seats.
"But I'd have to go with you." Jo informed them, causing them to sink back into their seats. "It's a secret camping spot."
"Yeah, I'm sorry, Jo." Carlos winced. "This camping trip is for men only."
"Yet you idiots are going." Dani snorted, causing Jo and Camille to chuckle.
"We can't risk you getting hurt."
"Oh, you think boys are better campers than girls?" Camille questioned.
"Yeah." The boys replied together.
"Hey! I've camped a lot with my dad and brothers, and I'm good." Camille snapped.
"Me too." Jo agreed, causing them to look over at the Jennings girl, making the girl groan.
"I could honestly care less." Dani shrugged. "But I doubt it's that hard to camp if James can do it."
"Hey!" James exclaimed. "Well, you know, let's just invite the Jennifers and make it a girls versus guys camp-off!"
The girls quickly looked over their shoulders, spotting the Jennifers approaching them dressed in camping gear.
The boys looked shocked as the three girls stopped behind Dani, Camille, and Jo, quickly taking their sunglasses off.
"I was kidding!"
"Okay, so where's this secret camping spot that won't get us in trouble with Gustavo?" Kendall asked.
...
Jo led the group through some trees before stopping at the perfect camping spot.
"Now this is my kind of camp site," Dani said, glancing around.
"Not bad." Carlos added, nodding his head in approval.
"It's not real." The three boys snapped.
The group was currently standing in the middle of a new set for Jo's show, New Town High.
Dani sent the boys a shrug before the two groups broke apart to set up.
"Last week on New Town High, we did a camping episode where we got attacked by boy zombies, and a vampire bear saved us."
"You scared?" The Jennifers asked.
"Do we look scared?" Kendall questioned.
The Garcia boy appeared in front of the Jennifers with a giant smile on his face, causing Dani to let out an amused laugh.
"Hi."
"This is nothing like camping." Logan complained, picking up a fake shrub and tossing it over his shoulder.
"It's camping Hollywood style." Camille stated.
"Stay there." Jo motioned for the Jennings girl to follow after her as they quickly made their way to the camera room. "Do you think you could work it?"
"You know who you're talking to? Of course I can." Dani said, quickly glancing around the soundboard before she pressed the four small white squares at the bottom of the board.
Suddenly, the sound of wildlife began to play through the stage, causing the Jennings girl to smirk.
"And we have life."
"Okay, how's that?" Jo spoke into a microphone.
"Well, we wanted to sleep under the stars." Kendall stated.
"Stars, coming up." Dani mumbled, sliding the control-labeled stars down, causing the set to go dark for a split second before it was lit back up by the stars that covered the ceiling.
"We also want to see the sunrise and wake up to the sweet sounds of the loons."
"Yeah, that's not going to happen." Dani said as the duo made their way back to the girls.
"Okay, it's impressive." James admitted. "But it's missing that element of danger."
"Who is that?"
The booming voice caused everyone to jump as they glanced in the direction it came from before quickly looking over at Jo.
The girl quickly motioned for them towards the trees, causing them all to quickly dart and hide.
Dani watched as a female security guard made her way onto the set.
"Beulah."
The woman stood there for a few more seconds before turning and walking away, causing the group to step out of their hiding spots.
"I am not allowed to bring anyone on set without clearance, so stay away from the weekend watch person." Jo explained.
"Boys on that side of the log." Camille pointed to where they were once standing.
"Girls on this side."
Dani felt her feet leave the ground as Kendall and James lifted her by the arms.
"Love our side. Love it!" Logan exclaimed.
"And don't even think about asking us for help."
"Don't ask us for help." The other girls and Carlos shot back.
"Carlos, you're on the wrong side." Logan told the boy, causing the girls to quickly push him away.
"Uh guys." Dani spoke, causing the boys to look at her. "Why am I over here?"
"Well, we just thought you'd be on our side." James said, causing the boys to nod.
"But I'm a girl." Dani pointed out.
"Yeah, we know that." Logan trailed off.
"I'm just going to go back over there now."
Dani made her way past the log and stood with the girls, causing the boys to gasp.
"Fine." James scoffed. "Let the games begin."
...
The girls quickly got to work setting up their side of the campsite.
They had a fake campfire set, the tent was pitched, they had a cooler filled with beverages and food, and they all had seats to sit and watch the boys fail.
Dani took a seat beside the Jennifers after she helped Jo finish putting up the tent.
"Earth, stars, and a sleeping bag—it's all you need." Dani heard her boyfriend say.
"Yeah, but the girls are kind of nice." Carlos stated.
"Hey, they are just going to slow us down." James exclaimed.
"We're going to end up spending all night trying to help them set up camp, and—what's that smell?" Logan's head quickly shot up as the boys quickly turned their attention over to the girls side.
"You guys want some apple sausage?" Camille offered.
"Yup!"
Logan, James, and Carlos went to make their way over to the girls side but were quickly stopped by the Knight boy.
"No!" Kendall exclaimed. "Because when we camp, we like to forage off the land. Now what we got?"
"I founded." Logan started, reaching into his pocket. "Four dirty mints and a mustard packet."
"Duct tape." James mumbled, pulling the roll from his pants.
"Wait. Look what I found." Carlos excitedly said, holding up a plastic turkey, causing Dani to let out a snort.
"It's a prop turkey!" Kendall exclaimed, looking at the boy in disbelief.
"Yeah. That's what the mustard's for." Carlos stated.
"Guys, come on." Blonde Jennifer said. "You have no food."
"Well, that's the way we like to camp—hungry, ready for anything." Kendall responded.
Suddenly, there was a loud banging heard through the stage, with a gush of wind following.
"What was that?" Carlos questioned.
James bent down, picking up some of the grass, allowing the wind to blow it away. "A storm's a'coming."
"It's the air conditioning. It kicks on to keep all the equipment cool overnight." Jo explained.
Dani quickly scrambled to her bag, quickly putting on some sweatpants, an oversized hoodie, and a beanie on her head.
"W-what, so it stays on all night?" Logan cried, shivering from the coldness.
"Hey, that's mine!" Kendall exclaimed, pointing at the hoodie on his girlfriend's body, causing Dani to glance down at it before she looked back up at her boyfriend.
"Maybe it is." Dani shrugged. "You wouldn't want me to get cold, would you, Kendall?"
The boy went to speak but quickly closed his mouth after mumbling out a 'no', causing the girl to smile.
"You guys brought extra layers, right?" Camille asked.
"Layers? We only need one layer to stay warm." Kendall informed the girl.
"Thank you."
Within seconds, all four boys stood tucked up in their sleeping bags, causing the girls to look at them in terror.
"Why are they looking at us like that?" Logan asked.
"They look like giant worms." Jo whispered to Dani and Camille, causing them to nod in agreement.
"Uh-huh."
"Definitely."
The girls decided to crowd up together around their heater and roast some marshmallows for some s'mores.
"Okay, now they're just mocking us." James frowned.
"This is Gustavo's fault." Kendall blamed the producer. "He should've just let us camp in real woods like we wanted."
"Oh, if he were here, I would totally give him a piece of my mind." Carlos exclaimed.
"Why don't you guys just admit that you're wrong and come and get warm?" Dani questioned.
"And come fake-roast marshmallows with us?" Curly-haired Jennifer said.
"Can we please go get marshmallows, please?" Carlos begged, leaning into Kendall.
"Nope." Logan replied, jumping from who knows where. "Cause thanks to some manly foraging, we can start a real fire."
"No, no, you can't light a fire on the—" Jo started, rising from her seat, but it was too late.
Logan clicked the button, causing the flame to light, and not even seconds later, the sprinklers above them came on.
"Idiots." Dani muttered.
"I hate camping Hollywood style!" James exclaimed.
A few moments later, the sprinklers cut off, leaving the boys standing there soaking wet.
"Wet!"
"Cold!"
"Hungry!"
"Guys, just get out of the wet sleeping bags," Jo started.
"Come over here." Dani added.
"Get some food." The Jennifers said.
"And some heat." Camille finished, gesturing towards the heater.
"We are men of the wild, and if the wild is a Hollywood sound stage, then we will conquer it without girl help." Kendall declared.
"What does that mean?" Carlos asked.
"It means there's got to be a kitchen or a pantry around somewhere."
"Right. Carlos and I will search the wilderness for provisions." James said, causing the Garcia boy to nod.
"And Logan and I will find warm, dry clothes and blankets."
"All right, let's roll!" Logan exclaimed before stopping. "I mean hop."
Dani watched the four boys in amusement as they hopped away from the campsite, nearly falling over.
...
An hour had passed, and none of the boys had returned to the set.
"Alright, it's been an hour, and they're still not back. I'm starting to get worried." Dani spoke, causing Camille to nod in agreement.
"They are really bad campers." Camille commented.
"Terrible."
Jo climbed out of the tent before speaking, "Okay, we'll go look for Logan and Kendall." The Taylor girl pointed over at Dani and Camille, causing them to nod in agreement. "You guys look for Carlos and James."
"Move out!" Dani exclaimed, quickly grabbing Camille's wrist and dragging her along as Dani followed Jo off of the set.
The girl led them toward the wardrobe department, hoping they were still there looking for warm clothes.
"There you are, Kendork." Dani breathed out, watching her boyfriend approach them. "What happened to camping?"
"Well, first, I have to find out what happened to Logan."
"Wait. you can't find Logan?" Camille asked.
"Well, he was in a bear suit. Then I heard voices. Then he was gone." Kendall told the trio what he remembered.
"But it's Saturday." Jo stated, confused. "The studio is empty on Saturday except for the occasional commercial like..."
Jo turned her attention to the bulletin board beside them, pointing at the schedule that was pinned to it.
"Big Bear Lip Balm. Fights off chapped lips like they were ninjas." Jo read. "Ninjas attack bear stunt man on city street."
Dani's eyes quickly widened as Camille spoke, "Wait. Didn't you say Logan was in a bear suit?"
Dani quickly glanced over at the board, quickly searching for a location before she raced off, the others right behind her.
"Okay, these ninjas are going to hit you really hard! Repeatedly."
Once they hit the lot, it wasn't hard for the girl to spot the guys wearing red ninja suits.
"Get away from Logan!" Kendall yelled, causing them to look over at them, confused.
Dani quickly sprang to action, sending a roundhouse kick at one of the ninjas, causing them to stumble back to the ground.
Out of nowhere, Kelly and Gustavo came rushing over, grabbing onto one of the ninjas.
"Hands off my dogs!"
"Attack the bear!" The director ordered as Dani sent a kick to another one, causing them to fall. "Who is the blonde girl?"
A long cart that was being driven by James came to a stop, and James and Carlos quickly jumped out to help defeat the ninjas.
"Abandon set!"
Everyone began to quickly flee the set; even the ninjas broke free of all of their grasp, racing away after the director and the crew.
Camille quickly made her way over to Logan, unfastening the buckle and allowing the boy to throw the head off of him.
"Oh, thank you." Logan gasped for air as Camille clutched onto his side.
"Still think camping's not dangerous?" Kelly snapped.
"And ha! There are bears!" Gustavo pointed at the Mitchell boy.
"Gustavo, what are you doing here?" Kendall asked.
"And if you had just let us camp outside and have fun like we asked in the first place, none of this would've happened." James stated.
"Look, I remember what it's like to have fun. But now I know what it's like to, I guess, be a parent. And, you know, I was worried about you guys," Gustavo admitted. "I get worried."
"Aw, you do have a heart." Dani gushed, sending the man a smile. "But you still have to allow them to do things, Gustavo. You can't always baby them."
"Okay, wheel, what if I can find a place for you to camp that's outdoors with a sunrise and loons?"
"Where?"
...
Dani stirred awake, wrapped in Kendall's arms, to the sound of the boys beloved loon.
"All in all." Kendall yawned as the group sat up and the girls exited the tent. "I'd say this was a pretty awesome camping trip."
"Yup, with awesome girl campers." Carlos added.
"And amazing band campers."
"Really amazing." Jennifer spoke, causing Carlos to grin.
"I must admit, I did have fun camping with you guys." Dani said, causing the boy to smile at the blonde girl.
"We should do this again." Camille stated.
"No." They all protested, quickly gathering their things.
