↠ goat demon

Emily was rudely woken up in the middle of the night by aggressive pounding on her front door and shouts for her to open it. She hazily walked out of her room as the lock turned and James, Kendall, and Logan stormed in.

She glanced at the clock on her oven. It was 3:23 in the morning.

"I'm taking away your keys," she told them, holding out her hand with her eyes closed, falling asleep.

"We have a bone to pick with you," Kendall grumbled, wrapping a stern arm around her shoulder and leading her to sit on the couch before the three of them stood in front of her, arms crossed.

"Where were you seven hours ago?" Logan interrogated.

"With Carlos," she answered.

"And what were you and Carlos doing?" James asked.

Waking up, she glared at them, "We were hanging out. Is that not allowed anymore?"

"Not when you take him to a scary movie!"

Emily sunk into the couch. Carlos promised he wouldn't tell. "Oh."

"Yeah, oh," Logan snapped.

"You know Carlos isn't allowed to see any movie with monsters, serial killers, stabbing, ghosts, curses, or demonic possession!" Kendall cried.

"Well, we missed the spy movie we were supposed to see because this kid in line for the carousel cut in front of us and we had to wait for the next ride! And by time we got to the theater, the movie had started and Carlos didn't want to miss anything so I suggested we see something else and he said the only other thing that looked remotely cool was that one!" She defended.

"Why were you on the carousel?" James asked, a hand over his face.

"Because they had dolphins."

Logan shook his head, "He won't go to sleep and keeps waking us up screaming."

"He wasn't supposed to tell you," Emily mumbled. She agreed to see the scary movie instead if Carlos swore he wouldn't tell on her if he got scared later.

"He's not supposed to see scary movies!"

"Well, I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do about it now," she apologized, turning to go back to bed.

"No, you're going to talk to Carlos and convince him it wasn't real!" Kendall corrected her.

"In five hours," she nodded.

Logan and Kendall both turned to James, gesturing for him to fix this so she could fix Carlos so they could finally sleep. The boy sighed, knowing she was going to be mad. He followed her, turning her to face him before bending over and throwing her over his shoulder.

"James!" Emily whined, holding her head in her hands. "I promise I'll talk to him when the sun is up!" The guys ignored her, carrying her out of her apartment and down to theirs.

Inside, James finally set her down. Emily elbowed herself away from him, yawning. There was a giant cushion fortress in the center of the room where the couch should be.

"Carlos?" Emily called. No response. She groaned, sulking over to the fort, taking off the roof to see Carlos, in his helmet, holding a large knife. "Carlos!"

"Stand back, demon!" Carlos yelled, closing his eyes.

"Carlos, you're going to kill somebody, and then you're really going to have nightmares."

"Emily!" The guys yelled. She turned, shhing them.

Carlos peeked one eye open, "Em! Get in!" He yelled, pulling her down into the cave. "The ghosts can't get us in here."

"Yes, they can," she corrected him, lightly tapping on of the walls, the entire structure collapsing.

"Emily!" Carlos cried, seething. "The ghosts are going to suck out our souls now!"

"Carlos! A couple of couch cushions aren't going to stop the ghost!" She told her, taking away the knife and holding it out behind her for Logan to safely take away and put back in the kitchen. Carlos cried, seeing his one weapon vanishing. "It was just a movie," she told him.

"It was so real!"

Emily sighed, standing up from the crouch position. "Remember that scene in the movie where the girl closes her eyes, spins in a circle, and chants?"

"You mean where the stupid girl summoned the goat demon despite everyone telling her not to because the legend is true?" Carlos bitterly remarked.

Tilting her head at him, Emily closed her eyes, and started spinning in a circle. "Em," Carlos gasped in fear. Then she started repeating the chant as best as she could remember. "Emily, stop it. Emily–"

"...Or unleash hell upon me," she finished, opening her eyes to see Carlos wide eyed, biting his fist. Holding her arms out, "See? No one is tearing my skin off and hanging me from the ceiling fan."

The three guys behind them frowned. "What movie did you see?" Kendall cried.

"It was stupid," she told him, unimpressed.

"It was scary!" Carlos said.

"And it was fake," she told him. "There's not evil goat demon coming to turn us into ghost goats for his evil army."

"What movie did they see?" James asked his friends, more concerned about their taste in film.

"Carlos, if the demon goat really exists–" hearing the guys start to scold her, she shh-ed them again, "you know everything now! You know how to summon it, which you would never do, and you know how to defeat it." Emily handed Carlos a salt shaker and one of the hockey sticks in the corner.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," he mumbled.

Getting the greatest idea of all, "And you're girlfriend and best friend are secret spies–"

"Em, you're not a spy," James groaned.

"–and we have secret spy gear. Alexa could totally defeat the goat demon, right?"

Carlos started grinning, "Right!" He agreed. "The goat demon doesn't stand a chance!"

"But he's still not real," Logan interrupted.

Carlos finally stood up, "Thanks, Em," he smiled, holding his pillow, seeming at ease and content with his knowledge Alexa could fight off the goat demon if he should appear.

Kendall held out two thumbs ups, "So, we're good? We can go to sleep?" Carlos nodded, skipping back into his room. Kendall turned to Emily, "Don't ever take him to a scary movie again."

"It wasn't scary," she rolled her eyes.

"It sounds terrible," Logan frowned.

Suddenly a horrified shriek came from the back bedroom and Carlos came sprinting out, throwing himself behind his friends and desperately climbing onto James' back for safety. "I saw it! The goat demon!"

Prepared to ask questions, assure him it wasn't real, and he was imaging things, the group all turned towards his room at the sound of giggling. A small trail of laughs emerged, with Katie holding her stomach in fits of laughter with a broken hockey stick, having them on her head as if they were horns.

if you don't like her, leave. sorry, but that's the truth.
