2.14; girl group

When Emily heard a girl group was looking to join Rocque Records, she put on her best outfit to greet them.

She loved the guys. She loved working with them, but every now and then, she felt I'd be a nice change to collaborate with girls. Especially on songs about romance.

Kat's Crew was a three girl band. Gustavo had a poster printed up of them and hung it on the wall to get them excited about signing. Emily even offered her song up for them to sing.

She finished I Know, You Know a few days ago and planned to have BTR sing it, but how many opportunities would she get for a girl group to sing her song as is without altering it for the guys?

"We got something," Kat sang, letting the note trail off. Kat was the lead. The girls were only a bit younger than Emily and the guys, but equally as talented. Kat had dark curly hair flopped over to one side.

"Ladies," Gustavo said, "that sounded amazing!"

"Uh, what is that?"

Emily internally sighed as she heard the voice of James Diamond upset. She turned in her chair to see the guys looking in on the session.

"And why are they singing our song?" The others demanded.

Emily pursed her lips, holding up a finger, "It's my song."

"And that's Kat's Crew, my new girl group," Gustavo answered. "And it's not your song anymore, it's theirs."

The guys gasped, looking at Emily in betrayal. She avoided their gaze, casually staring at the cheetah print booties she had on. Kendall and Logan looked at each other. Then they ran up into the booth, pulled Emily from the chair and shoved her down the stairs where James and Carlos led her out and into the office.

"Woah, woah," she snapped at the hostility. She turned in the office as the guys piled in behind her.

"A girl group?" Carlos demanded. "And they get our song? We love that song."

"My song."

"And they get a poster and we don't?" Logan questioned.

"And you dress up for them but not us?" James scoffed in disbelief.

"We deserve an explanation," Kendall told her, crossing his arms.

"Guys, they haven't signed yet," she told them. "Gustavo made the poster to get Kat Sweet and the Crew excited about joining Rocque Records. And thank you for noticing," she said, smiling smugly at James as she showed off her boots with ripped jeans.

"Oh, so what you're saying is that Gustavo's already forgotten about us and he's moved on?" James retorted.

Emily blankly stared at him, "You can't possibly have gotten that from what I said."

"Yo!" Gustavo announced, coming into the office. The guys turned as him and Kelly entered. "Big Time..."

Emily's jaw dropped, "Rush?" She reminded him, knowing this only fueled the guys fire.

"Right, well, kick back a while," he told the guys. "Kat's Crew is on fire and I wanna work with them a little longer and not you," he said exiting.

James shrieked as the guys fearfully turned back to Emily for help. The girl just sat there, lips pursed in thought, and she stared intensely into the floor, hoping she could avoid questioning from them.

Feeling them stare holes into her head, she smiled, lifting her head, "Well, more time for video games and hockey," she cheekily said, hoping they would get excited.

They didn't.

***

After finishing another take at the song, Emily led the girls out, showing them around.

"That is my chair where I live," she told them, pointing to the spinning chair at the panel. They chuckled at her.

"And obviously, the lobby-"

"Their poster is stupid!" James' voice screamed louder as they walked out. The guys were angrily staring at the poster.

Emily sighed as the girls made themselves known, upset with their attitudes.

"One, this is going to be our studio soon," Kat said. "Two, we sing better than you." Emily choked out a laugh in surprise. "Three-"

"Where's your poster?" They asked, pretending to look for it. Emily had to turn so the guys couldn't see her laughing which only increased when she heard James yelped again.

"Logan?" Kendall asked.

Logan shrugged, "Well they're clearly younger than us and girls so beating them up isn't an option," he told his friends. Emily, calm now, turned, holding her arms out.

"Fight me," she told them. She found herself the type of person to get offended when someone refused to fight her because she was a girl. She just wanted to fight.

"Accept defeat and welcome them to Rocque Records?" Logan supplied making Emily nod in agreement at his maturity.

"Tell Gustavo to give us our song back and we'll think about it," James shrugged.

"It's my song!" Emily exclaimed.

"Forget it," the girls snapped.

"Well, we're better dancers than you," Carlos retorted.

"Which is very important in music videos and exactly how we are going to win our song back," Kendall said.

"My song," Emily mumbled.

***

Emily refused to get in the middle of their feud and sat out of the dance rehearsals. She already knew Kat's Crew were far better dancers and didn't want the boys to find out.

They had sad looks as the slumped on the couch watching Emily play foosball with the girls, jealous she was spending so much time with them.

"We are Big Time Rush. We can totally take three 14 year old girls," Kendall said.

The girls stopped playing, turning to the guys, "You can't hit us."

"We know!" They snapped.

"Why won't you fight me?" Emily asked, going ignored.

"Just give us the song back! It was ours first," Carlos said.

"It was mine first!"

"Plus," Carlos said, everyone ignoring Emily every time she tried to claim her song. "We have an awesome idea for the video, with villains and a spaceship and-"

Emily gaped, unsurprised as the guys started shooting invisible lasers and acted like they were in control of a spaceship. Emily sighed, shaking her head helplessly as Kat turned to her for answers.

"This music video is taking place in an alley with dancing, explosions, and stars us, not you," Kat snapped back.

Emily leaned against the foosball table, annoyed that no one was giving her credit for her song, no matter how much they liked it, and talked about it like she wouldn't have a say it the music video.

"Yeah, well, this song has a rap in it and only Lo-Gain knows what's what," James told them.

Logan smirked, standing as he put sunglasses on. "Check it!" He stood in front of the girls, "Don't wanna get nasty, but this is how it rocks. This is Big Time Rush's house and not a kitty litter box." Emily hummed, impressed with the smooth rhyme. "And you've got posters on the wall, but it ain't no thing cause we gonna rock this town and put posters," the guys stopped dancing as Logan started stuttering, "on the wall eventually?" He looked at his friends, "There's too much pressure okay?"

"Listen up now, cause this is how it goes," Kat rapped, shoving Logan in the chair, "This is Kat's house now and not the stupid bros. And I mean it when I scream it and no need to read between it," Emily started bouncing her leg as the young girl rapped, "Cause you know that we always attack it, Big Time Rush is gonna end up like Boyz In The Attic just another distant memory on the wall."

Emily had a hand over her mouth as she compared them to the fallen band. The boys stood, fuming.

"You can't hit us!" They reminded them. The boys groaned, sitting back down as the smirking girl group left the room.

Emily remained, tilting her head at them.

"What?" Carlos asked.

"Why won't you fight me?" She asked again.

"You're a girl," Kendall replied in an obvious tone.

Emily bit the inside of her lip, thinking. She nodded, turning to James, "James, your hair looks flat today."

James slammed his hand down, standing, "You really wanna go?" He asked.

"Yes!" Emily replied as the guys rolled their eyes, pulling James back down. She sighed, seeing no one would fight her still, "Fine, you don't have to fight me, but please calm down." She asked them, walking after the girls.

***

A hour went by and the studio had been quiet.

Emily grew uneasy knowing full well the boys wouldn't calm down.

Instead, she was sat at the end of a long table with Kelly and Gustavo by Carlos in a suit. He placed glasses of water in front of them.

Kendall and James stood at the other end, holding up a red sheet, also in business attire as if it was an executive board meeting.

"What is happening?" Emily asked.

"We've brought you here to show you some starling numbers if you decide to sign Kat's Crew," Kendall said, dropping the sheet to reveal Logan with his own stick and red sheet.

"If you look at these projections clearly, you'll see," Logan assured them as he reveal his charts on large print boards. "Big Time Rush's record sales with no girl group in the studio skyrocket making Rocque Records an estimated $451 million dollars."

The boys switched boards, showing a drawing of Gustavo holding money bags. The man leaned over to his assistants, "Impressive."

"Where did they get this data?" Emily asked them.

"But with two bands in the studio," James said, revealing a final graph, "sales plummet. Rocque Records bankrupt, and you get so stressed..." The revealed the final board in the presentation: a drawing of Gustavo's grave. "You die."

"Are you through?" Gustavo asked.

The boys laughed, "We just saved your life," Carlos told him.

"But-" Emily jumped hearing Kat behind her. The girls started passing out small pamphlets of their own sales projections. "According to our sales projections report, sales profits with Kat's Crew will be $1 billion."

Kelly rolled her eyes, nudging an upset Emily, showing her a pie chart, "Oh, and according to this pie chart, girl groups rock and boys are stupid."

"That is so not true!" The boys snapped.

"Yes it is!" The girls replied.

The two sides started bickering over one another. Emily covered her ears and put her head to the table, wishing it would stop.

"Stop!" Gustavo shouted, getting between to two. "Stop it! Now, cats, if you wanna sign with my awesome label, you will stop being stupid like the dogs." He turned to the guys, "And dogs, stop being stupid!"

"Both sides have been warned," Kelly told them, her and Gustavo leaving as Emily remained tormented in her chair.

The two sides looked to Emily, seeing what she would say. The girl stood, looked at them, opened her mouth, only to close it, shaking her head and walking out.

***

The boys continued to be stupid and trashed the studio.

Gustavo walked in and was not pleased.

Emily had been walking into the studio lobby when she heard Gustavo shouting.

"What are you doing now?"

She looked up to see Gustavo storming her way. She turned to see the guys in the studio, on the floors. Gustavo marched past her, and she followed.

As soon as her foot touched the floor, she slipped, sliding forward uncontrollably. The guys dove out of the way as Gustavo slid past, crashing into the dry wall, creating a hole. James sat up, throwing his arms out to catch Emily as she slipped.

The girl crashed to the ground, groaning in pain as the wood collided with her hip.

The guys grimaced at the damage they brought upon the wrong people.

"Have you considered maybe you're acting entitled and selfish?" Emily calmly asked as she sat up.

Chills ran down their spines when she didn't yell or snap at them about how idiotic this plan was.

"Kat's Crew just wants what you guys wanted when you first came to town. And it's incredibly inconsiderate of you to sabotage Gustavo's opportunities because you're immature," she told them. Emily slowed got to her feet, gently walking out, safely reaching the carpet. She turned, "And it's my song," she reminded them.

***

Gustavo called a meeting.

After the guys set off a stink bomb in the bathroom, he and Kelly decided everyone needed to talk.

Emily sat at the head of the table with her associates while Kat's Crew sat along one side and left the opposite four chairs open for the guys.

They came in, concerned about Emily's cryptic text asking them to get to the studio ASAP.

They ran in to see the set up.

"Dogs, I'm glad you're here," Gustavo greeted. "Sit down!" The guys sat down, Logan taking the chair next to Emily, "I have something I have to say to all of you. I love both bands at this table. But I will not go through what I went through back in the 90's!"

Emily cautiously listened, not caught up to speed on what he and Kelly had talked about.

"Now, Kat's Crew is extremely talented and dance and sing amazingly," He told them, making the girls smile and the guys frown, thinking he was dropping the band. "But, the dogs have always stuck by me, and I have to do the same and stick with them," he said, making the boys smile.

Emily grew a small smile seeing him pick the boys. "No matter how stupid they are," she retorted, looking down the line at them. The guys smiled at each other upon hearing Gustavo pick them and Emily not upset anymore.

"You girls are great, and somebody is going to make you stars-" Kelly assured them, "Just not here at Rocque Records."

Emily gave them a sad, comforting smile as the girls stood to leave. Her head snapped up at the guys, minus James, standing, stopping them, "Wait."

"Wait? No wait," James cried.

"James," Kendall snapped at him, urging the boy to stand up. "Kat's Crew is extremely talented and you should definitely sign them Gustavo."

Logan nodded, "Yeah, we are the ones who acted like jerks, not them."

"We got jealous," Carlos confessed. "They got a poster, we didn't get a poster."

"And we don't want to live in together in an attic with gout," James mentioned making the guys nodded aggressively in agreement.

Emily narrowed her eyes in confusion.

"We'll stay on one condition," Kat said," You guys sing I Know, You Know."

The guys smiled, oblivious to Emily who yet again felt disrespected as they talked about her song like she didn't write it. "We'll sing it on one condition," Kendall countered.

"You do the rap," The told her.

"Oh," Carlos gasped, "And you guys can be in our spaceship music video where we crush the evil villain with our secret weapon!" The guys broke out, making sci-fi noises.

"Can the villain come down into an alley where there's dance and explosions?" Kat asked.

Chaos ensued as the two bands starting reenacting what the video would look like. Gustavo shook his head, standing, "Woah, woah. I am the producer here. I make all the music and video decisions."

The two bands shrugged looking at each other, as Kendall said, "But it's not your song."

Emily's eyes snapped up, seeing them smiling at her as they gestured for her to get up and join their side against Gustavo. Emily smirked, standing as she sauntered playfully down to the opposite head of the table by James, "It's my song," she sang.

Kelly scoffed, looking at Gustavo, "You think you can take the dogs, Emily, and the cats?"

"Yes!" He answered. "Because I am the big dog and the king of the jungle and I say no spaceship explosive alley video," he told them. Everyone had their arms crossed. The guys gave a knowing smirk to the cats who returned it as Emily stared Gustavo down.

***

The video opened with Kendall in his silver spacesuit, spinning in the captains chair, "Maybe this could be the line that starts the whole story."

It followed with the villain, played by Gustavo, intercepting the ships channel. He zapped the guys into an alley below, shot them with a dance ray and forced them to dance to the song. The cats were up in the ship, getting the Secret Weapon dressed in metallic blue.

Just as the cats arrived to save the day, Kat entered through smoke, leading into her rap. She defeats the villains with the secret weapon. Leading back into the song, Carlos grabs the dance ray and they all dance in the alley with fire and sparks as the song ends.

The spaceship takes off, The End displayed.

Carlos stood cheering and Emily clapped, high fiving Kendall after they finished watching the video for the first time.

"Yes, but one more thing," Gustavo interrupted, leading them out of the studio into the lobby. Emily gasped, remembering as she slid past them out in front of a large poster covered by a cloth. "Before my cats and dogs leave me so I can get some peace and quiet."

The guys and cats stopped in front of the poster where Emily stood hiding a bright smile. Gustavo nodded at her. "And this is way overdue," Kelly told them as Emily ripped off the silky red cloth to reveal BTR's poster.

The boys gasped, cheering to each other, as the saw their poster in victory.

Kat narrowed her eyes, "What about our poster?"

Emily shook her head, "What do you mean?"

The girls pointed. Everyone turned their heads to see four middle aged men defacing the poster with spray paint and black marker using the letters BIA.

Gustavo walked forwarded, narrowing his eyes at the boys he used to producer for. They froze.

One guys yelled, "Kick it!" And they danced backwards out of the studio down the hallway. Emily frowned.

"Is that..?"

"Yup," Logan answered, knowing what she meant.

Gustavo turned to BTR, who shrugged, "They're making a comeback."

"I've heard," the man grumbled.

The boys ran out. Emily, in thought, tilted her head to the guys.

"It that gonna you guys in 20 years?"
