2.07; pranks
"You gave them the day off for what?" Emily questioned as if she heard him wrong.
"Pranking," Gustavo repeated.
When Emily walked into the studio this morning for a day full of rehearsals and recording, the boys were no where to be seen. Gustavo had given them the day of to prank each other and decided not to tell Emily she had the day off. When she walked in and asked, the man blew a horn and yelled, "pranked!" at her. She was not pleased.
"That's stupid," she told him.
Gustavo gave her a pointed look, "Do you want the day off or not?"
"Bye," Emily said, shutting up and swiftly exiting where she entered.
On the way down to the street to get a car, she thought to herself the possibilities the day could bring. Pranking with the boys could be fun.
She pulled out her phone calling Jo.
"Hey, Em."
"I have the day off with the guys for pranking, for whatever reason, so we're going wild," Emily cheered into the phone.
"The guys said girls aren't allowed," Camille shouted from the other end.
Emily's face twisted, "Why wouldn't we be allowed to prank?"
"Listen," Emily recognized the voice to belong to Katie, "They've had this pranking competition every year. It's very serious. They have a rule book and everything. The guys told me girls aren't allowed because girls aren't good at pranks."
"Are you kidding me?" Emily screamed into the phone. She had faced plenty of sexism in her time, but never would've expected it from them. "I'll be back in 5 minutes."

When Emily jumped out of the moving car pulling up to the Palmwoods, Jo, Camille, and Katie were all waiting for her.
The girls immediately began ranting over one another about how stupid this was and how they were joining the competition one way or the other.
After Emily finished a long winded insult, she noticed three of them walking into the lobby, each carrying pranking supplies. Emily nodded to the guys. The girls spun hot on their heels, blocking the guys' path to the elevator.
"What's this about girls not being good at pranks?" Camille, Jo, and Emily all spat at the guys.
"Never said that," Kendall told them. The bear in the middle waved excitedly back at the girls. Emily recognized him as Carlos. "I just said it could get ugly, and girls could get hurt."
Emily's eyebrows rose in amusement as the boy unknowingly dug himself a deeper hole.
"So you're saying girls aren't as tough as guys?" All three Jennifers questioned, joining the heated conversation.
James scoffed, holding six cartons of eggs, "Have you seen the bear standing next to me?" Emily looked at him incredulously. "This competition can get scary."
Carlos in the beat suit started growling and showing his plastic claws. None of the girls batted an eye.
"Hi, Carlos," Emily said, watching the bear intently.
Carlos in the suit stood straight, vigorously waving his arm at Emily. "Hi, Emily!" He gushed in a high voice. The two boys on either side of him nudged their friend to knock it off.
The girl gave the guys a victorious smile feeling that she made her point.
"Sounds to me," Camille said, "that you guys are scared to get your butts beat by a bunch of girls."
Camille snapped her fingers, three more girls joining their side. Carlos ripped the bear head off, "What? Ten against four? Yeah, that's fair," he scoffed.
Then six other guys including Guitar Dude and Tyler. "We're in!"
The guys smirked until James counted and realized they were still one short including an MIA Logan. Jett Stetson slid over, joining the fight. "I'm in too." Kendall gave the guy a look. "What? I don't like you but I will defend my gender," he said, fist bumping Carlos.
Emily looked to Jo, who stared the two boys down, annoyed.
"So be it, as reigning Sir High King Lord of the Pranks, I now declare this a Mega-prank-etition."
Everyone broke out into excited cheers except Emily who stared at Kendall in over whelmed confusion. "Isn't that title really excessive?"
The three founders of the game snapped at Emily defending the king. "Do you want in or not?" Kendall shouted.
Emily put her hands up in defensive, dropping the subject.
The clock in the lobby began chiming at the strike of noon.
"Bug out!" Kendall declared, everyone splitting up to begin the pranks.
Emily, Jo, and Camille stayed back, waiting in anticipation. Three of the guys in the back tripped over themselves realizing their shoelaces had been tied together, curtesy of Katie Knight.
Carlos, James, and Kendall turned, fearfully.
"Laces tied together; classic!" Katie bragged.
"So that's three boys down," Camille observed.
"And three to go," Jo finished, mocking them.
"Boo!" Emily whispered. All the guys dropped their supplies and hustled out of the lobby in fear.
Laughing as she watched them run away, Emily turned to her friends, "I have an amazing idea that will not only get the guys out, but prove we are masterminds, and superior and designing pranks," Emily shared.
"Tell us more," Katie smirked.

A catapult with a pie.
Except Camille would "accidentally" get pranked herself, run off crying, and when the guys went to make sure she was okay, thanks to the Logan Amendment, they could get them all out at once.
Down a hallway, they designed a large metal catapult, locking a creme pie on the end.
Camille had heard them getting off the elevator, and ran back waving that it was go time.
Knowing the boys would eavesdrop, Katie walked through the "plan."
"The guys get off the elevator to rush to the appointment for shelter," Katie said.
And they'll trip on the wire," Emily smirked.
"And get a face full of creamy defeat," Jo smiled, high-fiving Emily.
"Boys are stupid," Camille laughed.
"Now all we have to do is hide and watch the show," Katie stated.
That's when the boys jumped out behind Katie, Emily and Jo, scaring them. Emily jumped turning to see them. Camille screamed, tripping backwards on the wire, the pie flying into her face.
It fell, the creme covering every inch.
The boys broke out in celebration. Camille started dramatically sobbing. She ran off down the hallway, going to the next stage of the plan. Emily turned towards the guys, a harsh look on her face.
"Hey. We told you that pranking was dangerous," Carlos said in defense.
"Well, does your Lord Prankerton say you're not allowed to make sure someone is okay?" Jo retorted sarcastically as Emily gestured in the direction Camille ran off in.
"No, he does," James sighed. "It's called the Logan Amendment."
"Let's go," Kendall told his friends, running after Camille.
Emily quietly celebrated with Katie and Jo before abandoning the hallway and racing to the park where Camille would be crying on a bench.
Outside, Emily hid behind a tree with a pie in her hand. She saw the guys run up to Camille. Once she saw Camille lift her face up, revealing she was laughing, the guys cautiously stepped back, and Emily walked up behind them.
"It was Em's idea to sacrifice one of us so we could take you all out," Camille laughed, pointing behind them to Emily.
The boys spun around, nervously pushing each other, seeing Emily smirking with a pie.
"You were right," she told them. "This does get ugly."
The guys winced while looking around and seeing all the other girls emerging with pies, surrounding them.
"Yep," Carlos popped.
"We're doomed," they all cried.
"They look so cute when all hope is lost," Jo smiled.
Katie raised her pie, "Ready... Aim..."
Emily noticed a person out of place. Gustavo. She dropped her pie down in shocked confusion. The other girls lost focus, seeing Emily pointing to him, speechless.
"Dogs, Moore," Gustavo said, approaching them. "I am Kelly today."
Emily pursed her lips trying to form a question.
"Long story," he told her, "so studio. Now."
"Human shield!" The boys shouted, grabbing Gustavo and throwing him in the line of fire. Emily smiled. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't deliberately aiming for Gustavo's head. She totally was.
If she couldn't get the boys, this was just as good.
Gustavo screamed as pies hit him in the face. The boys finally let him go, seeing there was no more ammo.
"Hey, thanks again for the day off for pranking, Gustavo," James thanked.
"I'm Kelly," Gustavo muttered, before collapsing to the ground.
The boys waved to the girls before taking off back into the building.
"So close," Jo and Camille cursed.
Emily smiled, "That was a win for me," she told them.

Emily promptly abandoned the park to set up a trampoline behind a plant out at the pool. She planned to jump out, threaten to spray whichever guy she came across with silly string, they'd turn and run, landing on the trampoline and land in the pool.
The weird kid who eats corn chips constantly fell victim.
Katie got view of the whole thing. She stood in the lobby, congratulating Emily as she returned.
"Nice work," the small girl said.
"Thank you very much," Emily replied.
Katie pointed down to the extra cans on Emily's belt. "I just saw Bitters prank Jett. Shall we go after James and Carlos now?"
"Of course we shall," Emily laughed, looking around the lobby before checking upstairs, her can out and ready.
Katie stopped her, "No need. I was spying in the ducts earlier. They're in the supply closet in a stand off."
Emily nodded, unsurprised, "Yup."
Her and Katie made their way up the stair well to jump into the ducts from vent in the small corridor.
"So, what's going on with you and James?" Katie asked, unprompted.
Emily slipped on the railing as she pulled herself into the vent, caught off guard. "What? Why would something be going on?"
Katie rolled her eyes, "Come on," she groaned. "He's totally into you! And you're always hanging out with him now."
Inside the vent, Emily leaned out, grabbing Katie's arms to haul her in, "I am not."
"You are."
The girls started crawling through the chilled metal, searching for the vent leading into the supply closet.
"We're friends," Emily told her.
"Call it what you want," Katie shrugged, "but I know what's really happening."
Emily scoffed, unconvincingly, looking down into the vent, seeing James holding a rope, and Carlos holding a seltzer bottle.
Katie and Emily smirked as the nodded to each other.
"The crown will be mine!" The two boys screamed at each other.
Emily pushed the vent open, her and Katie spraying the boys with silly string from above.
Emily covered her mouth, looking away, laughing when he can emptied.
"Sorry, boys, but that crown will be mine!" Katie told them. "Hey, can I borrow that seltzer?"
Carlos sighed, "Take it."
He tossed it up to Katie who caught it. The small girl turned to Emily, pulled the trigger and a spew of seltzer spat out at Emily's face, drenching her hair and shirt while the two boys below laughed in shock.
"Katie!" Emily squealed, coughed the seltzer out of her mouth. "What the heck?" Emily asked, brushing the sticky hair off her face.
"This is between me and Kendall," Katie told her, crawling off to find her brother.
Emily scoffed, shocked at what just happened in so little time.
She leaned down, "Did that just happen?" She asked the guys.
"You're hair is dripping," James pointed out.
Emily groaned, sliding back so she could throw her legs out of the vent. In a sitting position, James and Carlos each supported her legs as she slid out, placing her on the ground. Furiously, they shook the silly string out of their hair while Emily used paper towels to ring the seltzer out of hers.
The girl groaned in disgust, feeling her hair, "Ew, my hair feels like straw."
"Told you this would get ugly," Carlos mocked.
James held a hand up at his friend, "Hey. That's not funny man. Unhealthy, brittle hair is not a joke!" James told him. Emily nodded in agreement, high-fiving James, who understood hair problems.
Carlos left the supply closet, rolling his eyes as they attacked him.
In the lobby, the rest of the members who already got pranked out sat on the couches.
Emily propped herself on the arm of the couch besides James, who was working with Carlos to rid themselves of silly string.
She looked up upon seeing Kendall run in, two water guns in hand. He turned, confused to see the group huddled together. His eyes locked on his friends, pointing to the guys, "Who got you?" He asked.
Emily rolled her eyes, "Who do you think?" Her, Carlos, and James retorted.
Then Katie stepped out, holding the seltzer bottle up to Kendall.
"Still think I can't handle Ye Day of Pranks, big brother?"
"Lord Prankerton would be very proud of you, baby sister," Kendall told her, Emily's head going back and forth like watching a tennis match. "But this battle's not over."
Bitters jumped up from the desk, "Yes, it is," he said, "because if either of you make another mess, I will pull off the ultimate prank." Emily sighed, exasperated. "I will close the pool for two weeks."
"What?" Emily asked, looking down to Carlos and James in shock, who were just as annoyed as her.
"The war is over. Put down your weapons and once again, I win, and you are all losers," Bitters sneered.
Emily noticed Kendall and Katie exchange a smirk. He looked to her and the guys for approval. The guys nodded while her mouth was covered by her hand in anticipation.
Kendall and Katie both turned, soaking Bitters with the containments of their weapons. Emily broke out in laughter and applause, watching the man run off into his office, as Kendall and Katie won.
"Wait!" Carlos stopped, "Wait, wait. Who wins?"
Kendall shrugged, looking at Katie.

A tie.
An hour later, Kendall and Katie arranged for a Star Wars themed, crowing ceremony. Kendall split the crown in half, and Jo placed a half on each victors head.
Emily stood across from Bear-Carlos on the girl's aisle by Katie.
Logan finally showed up. He pranked himself with explosive smoothies. Apparently he pranks himself almost every year.
Katie and Kendall bowed to one another, walking down the aisle of supporters who cheered for their new rulers of Prankdom.
They stopped at the end. The end where the barrier to the now closed pool was.
Emily reached in her pocked, pulling out the silly string. They all were to spray it in the air, creating a celebratory archway for the winners. As everyone sprayed, Emily held her across the way, firing at James' face. The boy sputtered in shock, his friends laughing at his expense. Seeing who shot him, James redirected his can, firing at Emily.
She laughed, cowering her head away, as she ran to their side, using Logan as a shield, and spraying James' head. James leaned over Logan, due to his height, and got the top of Emily's head.
The girl took off running into the lobby, James following, having started a new war.
