2.06; sneakers
Jo Confesses: "Jett's my man!"
The heading was everywhere. Over every magazine.
As soon as Emily saw it, she banged on Jo's apartment door, asking if she saw. Jo was just a surprised as her friend.
Not only was Jett Stetson ditsy, but he explicitly expressed attraction towards Jo, knowing Kendall was in the picture. Emily would put money on it; Jett knew all about this.
Emily ran down to the crib with her friend to find Kendall. The girl opened the door, Kendall already seeming in distress.
"I can explain," Jo said, entering behind Emily.
"Okay, explain," James and Logan warned, clearly upset with the news.
Emily, a shocked look, held up a hand for them to dial it back.
"Guys," Kendall snapped, "I got this. Okay, explain," he told his girlfriend.
"I can't," Jo shrugged. "They told me that photo was going to be on a billboard."
"Does this look like a billboard?" Logan sassed, aggressively holding up the magazine cover.
"Guys," Emily groaned, rolling her eyes, as Kendall also motioned for them to calm down.
"I'm going to see the network publicist right now to get to the bottom of this," Jo assured Kendall.
James scoffed, "Yeah, well Kendall's going with ya."
"Guys!" Kendall shouted, "I got this. Kendall's going with ya!" He told Jo, walking out with her.
They slammed the door as they left, leaving Emily alone with Logan and James who quickly refocused their attention to Logan's laptop, ignoring the girl standing in the middle of the apartment.
"Okay. Before we buy these limited edition Buster Clydes together you will agree these are not for wearing but for reselling," Logan reminded James. "And getting rich."
Emily walked around the counter to see the boys were about to buy an expensive pair of sneakers to resell for a higher price.
"Yep, if we can even get a pair," James stressed, "Reserving section starts in 30 seconds."
"But you agree you no wear-y, we resell-y," Logan said, pulling out a contract. "Sign here."
Emily intercepted the pen from James, scribbling her initials on the paper. "I'm in."
"What?" Logan questioned. James shook his head, scoffing, while he signed the contract. "Em, you're not a part of the deal."
"I can get you more money and if you don't let me, I could probably sue you for breaking a signed contract."
James and Logan both stared blankly at the girl, back at each other, and then leaned around her, whispering literally behind her back.
As Emily rolled her eyes, she noticed the clock for purchasing had two seconds left. She went ahead and held her hand on the mouse pad, clicking the confirmation button just as the clock ran out.
She waited for the confirmation that she got a pair. The boys sat straight again.
"We'll accept you in the deal," Logan told her.
"Good, because you missed the reservation time and I bought the shoes for you," Emily told them, walking around towards the fridge for water.
The two boys gaped at the screen, sighing heavily in relief, before jumping up together, chanting, "We did it. We did it. We did it. We did it."
Emily watched with a confounded stare. Mrs. Knight walked out with the laundry, eyeing the two boys in shocked confusion.
"We just got sneakers online," they both said, in a deep voice, letting go of one another.
"Okay," Mrs. Knight shrugged, helplessly, leaving the situation.
***
Emily got the shoes delivered within ten minutes.
James and Logan, of course, pushed her out of the way once she walked in with the gold box and took the shoes for themselves.
"They're beautiful," the two boys sing-songed together.
Emily rolled her eyes, opening up Logan's laptop to finish the ad.
"Okay. Dot take them out of the box. We have to maintain their freshness," Logan reminded James, turning to see Emily typing away.
"I'm adding that they've never been touched," she mentioned as her fingers slew away on the keyboard.
"These shoes smell amazing."
Hearing James' comment, the two turned, gasping when they saw the boy holding them in his hands.
"Put them in the box now," Logan snapped.
"I can't. I'm in love with them," James cried, holding the shoe to his chest.
"You can't wear them!" Logan screeched, attacking James, who held the shoe over his head so Logan couldn't reach.
Emily sat back, unable to stop the chaos. Mrs. Knight could. She walked out, going for a run, when she saw Logan and James pressed against one another, freezing.
"We're fighting about sneakers," they both told her, playing it cool.
"Okay," she shrugged, jogging out.
"James, you signed a contract that states we sell these for $1,000, once they sell out, and you won't wear them," Logan reminded him, swiping the shoe away.
"$1000?" Emily cried. "You know I can sell them for more right?" She asked in disbelief they would actually go as low as $1000.
"Ooh!" Logan cheered, going back over to the computer.
"I need to be seen in these shoes just once," James begged. "Please, pretty please."
Emily shook her head, "No, James," she told him, exasperated and just wanted her money.
Logan on the other hand remained silent, as he started to fall into James' trap.
Which he did.
Logan wrapped the shoes in loose saran wrap so James could wear them, but they wouldn't be exposed to the outdoors.
"One lap around the Palm Woods and then right back here," Logan sternly told his smiley friend.
Emily lifted her head up from the counter where she had it, "These shoes have to stay in mint condition to sell."
"Got it. Okay," James confirmed, swaggering himself out into the hall.
Emily grimaced, going back to the ad, seeing the offers.
"If the ruins those shoes, it's your fault."

$3000.
$1000 each.
That's how much they were going for.
And James scuffed the top.
Emily chased the boy down the hallway. It took Logan ten minutes to get him out which then he went off on James himself.
"This was your plan all along. To scuff the shoes so I couldn't sell them and you can wear them," Logan accused, staring James down from the bar counter with Emily.
"Oh, you know I'm not that clever," James retorted in his defense.
"That's a good point," Emily nodded.
"But the Sheik's coming in three hours and if he sees this scratch, bye bye 3 grand," Logan told James.
The boy shrugged, "Then we'll just wash it off."
Seeing James grab the shoe, Emily jumped off the stool, laying across the counter as her and Logan separated James for the shoes and turned the water off.
"Are you crazy?" Emily shouted, "Water ruins leather!"
Disappointed, James looked down, "I guess we can't sell them." The boy grew an ecstatic smile on his face, "So I'll keep them and wear them. Bye!"
James turned to leave the crib. Logan and Emily looked down, seeing the shoes vanished and now appeared on James.
Logan yelped, "Stop," he called after James. The boy sighed, spinning around. "Look. We'll match the finish with nail polish, and buff out the scratches with makeup."
"That's going to work?" James questioned.
"I shined Logan's briefcase a few months ago," Emily answered.
Mrs. Knight returned from her run. James and Logan stopped her, "Oh, Mrs. Knight can we borrow your nail polish and makeup?"
"Okay," she shrugged.

Emily got the scratch out and left Logan to cover the finish when she got the fifth call in a row from Gustavo.
She went into the bathroom off the kitchen, calling him back.
When the line stopped ringing, she screamed, "What?"
"Moore, I need pictures of Kendall and Jo," Gustavo demanded.
"Why would you need that?"
Kelly jumped into their conversation, "We have to prove Jo is dating Kendall and not Jett!"
Emily rolled her eyes, leaning against the sink, "Even if I wanted to help you, I don't go around taking secret pictures of them on dates."
A silent pause rang through the line.
"Can you?" Gustavo asked.
Emily groaned, hanging up on the man in response.
She left the bathroom seeing James sitting alone at the counter with no Logan and no shoes. He looked up to see the girl return.
"What'd Gustavo want?"
Her mind focused on the shoes, "He wanted me to spy on Kendall and Jo," she answered absentmindedly, looking around for Logan, "Where's the shoes?"
"Logan's wearing them."
Gaping, Emily tore the magazine from James, "What do you mean he's wearing them?"
James sighed, snatching his reading back from the girl, "Relax, he's just taking a lap in them."
Ducking his head down in the article, James ended the conversation. Emily, however, did not. She poured the glass of water sitting on the counter over the magazine. James screamed.
"Why'd you do that?" He shouted, standing up, shaking the water off his arms.
"Why would you convince Logan to take the shoes out after what happened?" She demanded.
"Why are you assuming it's my fault?" James shouted back.
Emily crossed her arms, "Is it?"
James' angry face drifted away as he pursed his lips in guilt, "Maybe."
Saving James, Emily's phone began ringing. Jo was calling. She sighed, pointing at James, "You better hope those shoes are okay."
Emily retreated back into the bathroom, answering the call. "Hey."
"Em! We need your help!" Jo cried.
"Gustavo and Kelly are trying to catch us together, and if Jo dumps Jett she might get blacklisted from Hollywood!" Kendall shouted.
Sighing, "I know. Gustavo already begged me to stalk you guys and take pictures," she told them. She heard the two groaning on the other end. "Okay, listen. Everyone knows the public loves two things: hot celebrity couples and animals doing silly things. If you combine the two, Gustavo and Jo's publicist will both be satisfied, I'm almost sure of it."
"What is it?" The couple shouted in desperation.
"Tell everyone you two are going to stage a fake breakup at the zoo. Jett will swoop in, console Jo creating the newest celebrity couple and Kendall becomes a music bad boy-"
"That's a terrible plan," Kendall snapped.
"Don't interrupt me." Emily continued, "In reality, you're going to slap some peanut on the back of Jett and have him wait over by the llama pin. Jett gets photographed with an animal being silly, and you two can continue dating inconspicuously."
"Woah," Jo gapsed. "That will work?"
Emily shrugged, "I don't know, but you get to go to the zoo," she told them, knowing there was a zoo date planned before all this broke out.
"Em, you're the best," Kendall told her, hanging up.
Emily shut her phone, going out again to see Logan had returned but wasn't reassured when she saw the panic on both the boys faces.
Emily cautiously walked around the counter, looked down to see the shoes soaked in mud and cement.
"I'm going to kill you two," she said calmly, before sprinting after Logan, shouting about how he cost her $3000.
***
Emily eventually tired out from chasing the boys around the crib for 10 minutes, still, they didn't dare bother her.
She sat at the counter, head on the table when the Sheik arrived.
When he opened the case, revealing thousands of dollars in cash, Emily whined, spinning in her chair with her head hanging back.
The boys nervously laughed, opening the box.
The Sheik looked on in disgust seeing the shoes.
"You know what?" Logan smiled, "Forget about the $3,000, here's a special price: $1,500 and they are all yours."
The Sheik's large bodyguard shook his head. "Okay. You drive a hard bargain but I like your robe. 500 for the Clydes," James offered.
"No deal!" The Sheik snapped.
"This is all your fault!" James snapped at Logan, throwing the shoes at the wall.
"Oh, okay. My fault? I'm not the one who scratched the shoes," Logan retaliated, pushing James.
James pushed Logan. Logan tackled James. Emily watched unimpressed and bored.
Only was her interest peaked when the Sheik started laughing. "Idiots!" He laughed.
Emily nodded furiously, going over to sit by the man, "Exactly!" She turned to the man and the large man holding the cash, "I'll pour water on them for $200."
The Sheik snapped his fingers, smiling eagerly.
Emily smiled in return, pocketing her cash. She went over to the counter, gripped the water pitcher and stood over the two boys rolling on the hardwood. She slowly tilted the container, water soon pouring on top of them. The boys gasped and sputtered water out, shaking their heads to get the hair off their faces.
They let go of each other, sitting up, "Emily!" James shouted.
She stood there, tilting it more, until all the water was almost on the two boys.
The boys looked at each other, going back to their brawl.
"You are now my fourth best friend!" James snapped at Logan.
"You don't have any best friends!" Logan retorted, flipping James over.
"Okay, that is enough!"
Everyone froze, turning to see Mrs. Knight return, furiously staring the teens down. Emily poured the rest of the water out over James and Logan.
"Sorry?"
