One of Gustavo's worst ideas yet.
Giving the boys a video camera each, and letting them record videos to give fans and peek into their lives.
Emily had dropped off the cameras to the boys yesterday afternoon with instructions to bring them back to the studio in the morning.
All camera were destroyed into pieces with the exception of one that suffered from severe water damage.
Gustavo had the group gathered in the studio for "phase two."
"Boys, our album comes out in three months," Gustavo said standing with Kelly and Emily besides a board covered in red velvet. "And given our recent web video disaster, it's time for phase two of my get Big Time Rush on the web so people will know about you and buy your album in three months."
"Is that phase two under the sheet?" Kendall asked.
"Guys, get ready," Kelly told them, excited. "Because today Big Time Rush is spending..." she tore the sheet off revealing a TV screen with a blog pulled up. "A day with Deke."
"Hollywood's number one entertainment music blogger," Emily commented.
"Guys, Dak Zevon was a nobody, until he spent the day ice fishing with Deke. Then he became "The reel deal," Kelly said, clicking to the post about the celebrity.
Emily got a giddy look on her face, giving the boys significant looks. They all groaned silently, rolling their eyes at what she was silently referring to.
"And today it's Big Time Rush at the famous Palm Woods pool," Gustavo told them.
The boys nodded, excited. "Cool, so we just have to hang out with this guy and be the real us," Kendall said.
Kelly and Gustavo both laughed, "No," making Emily grow a sincere look at the boys offended faces.
"I don't want him anywhere near the real you. You'll just knock him into the pool or slice off his arm with a hockey stick," Gustavo shouted.
"'Cause that's bad, right?" Carlos questioned.
Eyes widen with concern, Emily nodded furiously, "Yeah, that's bad," she told the boy who smiled, getting the question right. "If you have a bad day with Deke, your careers might end up like Tanyon Lavell," the girl told them.
In unison, "Who's Tanyon Lavell?"
"Exactly," all three told them.
"And now, I present to you my day with Deke big time dog training preparation team," Gustavo said, as Kelly blew an air horn, publicists, stylists, and an older Chinese man entered.
"Change them."
With that, the stylists ran forward, the boys screaming and collapsing to the ground being groomed for their day.
***
After the boys were dressed, hideously in Emily's opinion that no one cared for, the pool was recreated in the studio for a mock-interview.
"Boys, we've not only recreated the Palm Woods pool setting for your day with Deke. We've also recreated Deke," the publicist said, pulling out a cut-out version of Deke.
"He's so tiny," Carlos laughed, wearing a single tie and backwards leather cap.
Emily audibly laughed, as Gustavo stood, "Please don't say that when you see him, because it is very important what he thinks of you. Got it?"
"Got it," the boys responded.
"Now, good luck with your training, my young padawans. It begins now."
Emily followed Gustavo and Kelly out, mouthing a nervous "good luck" to the boys, feeling blessed Gustavo didn't make her stay and watch the disaster play out in person.
As Emily and Kelly entered the office, Gustavo sat at his desk.
"Shouldn't we be helping the guys?" Kelly asked for the both of them.
Gustavo shook his head, at his desk with various cell phones. "We are. Welcome to phase three of my Big Time Internet Blitz. I'm giving the guys ScuttleButter accounts," he said. Kelly nodded in approval while Emily looked on wearily. "That way, they can text their fans what's the haps-"
"That's a terrible idea," Emily interjected, already seeing the boys insulting each other online, or accidentally offending a fan, or causing drama for the whole group.
"-Only they won't be posting. It'll be me, because they are stupid."
"That's a worse idea."
Pointing to Emily in agreement, "Yeah, please don't do that," Kelly pleaded, taking a phone from his hands.
Taking it back, "It's easy. I signed up too," he assured them, beginning the type. "You just scuttbutt fun facts about yourself. "I hate brusselsprouts." Done," he said proudly, turning the phone to show them.
"It's two words: Brussels sprouts," Emily corrected, sighing as she handed the phone back.
"All right, delete, delete, backspace, and cut," He mumbled, before a swish played from the phone. "What just happened?"
Kelly scoffed, taking the phone, "You just sent out a scuttbutt saying you hate Brussels."
"That's the capital of Belgium," Emily told him.
The man let out a small, fearful scream, then stopped, "Who cares?"
"Belgians might."
Unamused, the man stood, exiting his office, Kelly and Emily snickering as they followed their boss back into the studio, seeing the boys had finished.
"Boys, this is a test you cannot fail. You need to make this a day deke will never forget," the publicist team told the boys as the girl entered the room.
"What he thinks is what is," Mr. Fong said.
"And remember, our album comes out in three months, and the web is a powerful tool that can take BTR right to the top, and Deke is a powerful man," Gustavo said, taking off his glasses.
***
Gustavo had switched to multiple laptops, sitting in his office all day, posting on social media.
Kelly and Emily had agreed to go in and check on him. Upon entering, he was humming a small tune to himself about how he loved the web, "Web. Web. Web."
"Right now the boys are winning over Deke, and thanks to ScuttleButter, I'm getting the big time word out all over the world."
Emily, bored, turned her attention away from her boss as soon as he started talking, in her opinion, thinking this was a bad idea, but, yet again, no one cared. Ironically, her boss is what caught her eye, but on the news.
"Why are you on TV?" She asked, cocking her head to the side.
The man of interest turned his head to focus on the tv while Kelly unmuted its sound. "Gustavo Rocque is back in the news for sparking outrage in Belgium," the newsman spoke. Emily rolled her eyes, knowing this would happen. "After posting on ScuttleButter that he hates Brussels, Belgian Americans in L.A.'s Little Antwerp, are burning his records and boycotting his latest project: Big Time Rush."
Gustavo screamed and Emily's face dropped, seeing the boys on the news, knowing this could ruin the band.
Five seconds in, he hadn't stopped screaming. Emily slammed her hand on his desk, making him stop. "Stop screaming! I'm going back to the Palm Woods to ensure the boys don't mess anything up, and you," she pointed to Kelly, "don't let him make this worse," she said, walking out as Kelly nodded.
***
Emily entered the lobby, about to turn out to the pool, stopping in her tracks and backing up when she realized Kendall and James were in the lobby already, standing in front of the supply closet.
"Hey," she said, confused. "What are you guys doing in here?" She asked, pointing out to the pool where they were suppose to be with Deke. The boys expressions dropped in fear seeing Emily walk in.
As they stuttered, struggling to respond, Carlos and Logan ran in, holding wires and a gardening hose, missing Emily completely. "Okay, we disconnected the Palm Woods' WiFi so deke can't post his blog from here," Logan said, Emily's eyebrows rising.
Kendall and James tried to subtly get their friends to stop talking, before Emily found out what happened.
Ignoring them, Carlos held up the cords in his arms, "We also disconnected the cable TV, telephone, air conditioning, and all the garden hoses. Just in case."
"In case of what?" Emily demanded, a worried but harsh look on her face. Logan and Carlos jumped, turning to see Emily was right behind them. They backed up to the other boys, all unable to explain.
"You can't stop the truth!" A quiet voice yelled from inside the closet.
Dawning on her, and scared to know the answer, "Is that Deke?" Emily asked.
Logan threw the cables onto James while Kendall turned to the door, addressing the man locked inside. Logan pulled Emily aside, "Look, we did everything we were told, but after five minutes he decided he was done, wrote this awful post about us, and James' freaked and locked him in the closet," He explained, calmly.
"Oh my god, you idiots. How is keeping him in there longer going to make this better?"
Logan shrugged, "He gets a chance to know the real us?"
The girl smacked his arm, going over to the other boys, seeing Deke emerged from the closet, unharmed.
Screaming, he tried to ran past the boys and escape, until the boys blocked him and shoved him back inside. "As soon as I get Internet access, you guys are big time finished!"
With the knowledge of how Gustavo messed up, Emily's heart started pounding at the thought of the boys career being destroyed in a single day.
"Well, let's look on the bright side. This is definitely a day Deke will never forget," Kendall said.
"Dude!" Emily shouted, her voice wavering, stressed.
James turned to the girl, pointing at her, "Why are you here anyway?" He asked, suspicious.
Sighing, "If you must know," Emily said as the boys sat on a bench in front of her, "I promised Gustavo I would personally make sure this interview went flawlessly because he offended the country of Belgium and now they're boycotting your album."
James yelped, as the others looked on confused and surprised.
"We have to get Deke to post something good about us then!" Carlos exclaimed.
"Look," Kendall said, speaking towards the guy behind the wooden door, "we just want a chance to change the way you think about us."
"Fine, I'll interview you through the door," Deke agreed. Cheering, the boys jumped up, standing in front of the door. "What made you decide to come to L.A.?"
Looking to his friends, Kendall answered"Um, well, we didn't really plan on this, but when amazing opportunities come, you have to-"
"Could someone elaborate on that?" He interrupted, monotone.
James nodded, "Sure, well, it was my dream to be a pop star, but my buds helped me get to the audition-"
"Where do you see yourself in 20..." Deke said, slowly and voice dropping.
"Oh, no! His battery died!" Logan cried.
"Wait, wait," They all said, Emily opening the door.
The boys crowded around the girl, seeing Deke had climbed into the air ducts.
"He's in the ducts!" James screamed, causing the group to take off in the sprint, down the lobby. Hearing his voice, the group stopped, looked up to see Deke watching them through a vent in the ceiling. "Yeah, well, the truth is we do so sing."
Kendall, Logan, Carlos, then James, all sung in different octaves of C.
"Not bad," Deke admitted. "But I will destroy you!" He cried, taking off.
"You've been better," Emily told them, running ahead of the group, following the ducts, looking up.
Stopping again, Deke breathed heavily, mumbling how hot it was in the duct.
The boys, together, "Do you want some water?"
"Do you have sparking?" Carlos nodded, running into a random apartment, getting a bottle, tossing it into the vent. "Thanks. Later, losers."
The group stopped again, outside, hearing Deke fall down the chute.
"So, um, what are we looking at here?" Kendall asked.
"False imprisonment, involuntary manhunting. I would say at least 100 hours' community service," Logan answered.
Hearing clatter in the vent, Carlos, astounded, "Is he going back up?"
The group heard a repeat of Deke falling down the chute, crawling off. "Which way did he slide?" Carlos cried, the group running off to find him.
"We can't lose him. He thinks we're big time phonies!" James reminded everyone.
"He went that way!" Kendall shouted, everyone sprinting off, following the right vents, into the Palm Woods classrooms. The boys shuffled around. placing an empty garbage can under the vent for Deke to fall into.
"You can't be serious," Emily sighed, seeing they were going to imprison him again.
As Deke dropped down, the boys closed the lid on top of him, leaning against it casually, to keep him inside.
***
Emily leaned back beside Kendall and the boys around on of the firepits at the pool.
"Life's funny, you know? One day you're hockey players. Then you're a pop band," Carlos thought out loud.
"Then blog-nappers," Logan commented.
"Why does he think we're phonies, hmm?" James asked, before shouting towards the guy locked in a trash can. "He should like us."
"Why should he like you?" Emily asked, annoyed. "Honestly, I don't like you right now," she told them, disappointed in how today went.
"Worse than that, since when did we start caring about what people think about us?" Kendall said, standing in front of his friends. It's what we think about ourselves that matters."
In agreement, "I think we might have let the marketers put words in our mouths," Carlos admitted.
"I think Mr. Fong's biscuits may have caused temporary insanity," Logan said, both standing.
"Ho ho, finally a true statement," Deke cheered.
"And do you guys realize we never even questioned these outfits?" Kendall retorted.
"I think we look good," James said.
"It's a little overdone," Deke said, making Emily point to the trash can in agreement.
"Quiet, you."
"We are not four hockey players from Minnesota anymore. We are four Anakins who went to the dark side," Kendall told his friends, hitting the trashcan.
"So what do we do?" The guys asked.
Emily stood up, walked over past the trashcan containing Deke, turned, and slowly motioned for the boys to follow her, insinuating they had to let Deke free.
Sighing, the boys nodded, knowing she was right, wheeling Deke after Emily, through the lobby and outside the front doors.
Kendall and Carlos unlocked the lid, opening it, Deke popping his head out.
"You're letting me go?"
James reached in, grabbing his torso, while the others helped pull his limbs out, safely. Carlos placed his shoulder tray back on his front for the guy to set his laptop on.
"And the truth is, with our album coming out soon, there's a lot of pressure, and it kind of got to us," Kendall admitted.
"We hope you can forgive us," James told him.
"And we hope you don't press charges," Logan said, cheekily, making Emily lightly elbow him in the side.
Thinking, "Wow, you've really given me something to think about," Deke told them, before smirking, "Right after I post my blog about how I was locked in a closet, tackled, chased through ducts, and trapped in a garbage can. Bye!" He said, dashing off, across the street.
Hey, you never know. Maybe he'll get hit by a bus on the way to his coffee shop," James thought out loud.
A bus honked loudly at Deke, who crossed right in front, safely making it to the other side, "So close!" The five cursed together.
Emily sighed, running her hands through her hair, thinking of how to tell Gustavo, "Okay, I'm off to tell Gustavo before he sees the blog," she told them, starting to walk down the street, noticing they walked alongside her.
"It's our fault," Logan reminded her.
"You shouldn't have to tell him alone," Kendall said, an arm thrown casually over her shoulder.
The girl smiled to herself, walking with the boys in silence, until Carlos had a question.
"So why does Gustavo hate Belgium?"
***
Entering the studio lobby, Emily gasped, a hand covering her mouth, seeing it torn apart and left with scattered protest signs against Gustavo.
"Well, looks like Gustavo had a good day too," Kendall mutterd, sarcastically, stepping around the mess.
Gustavo and Kelly both entered the room, covered in waffles. "Boys, I have a feeling your album's not gonna sell very well in Belgium."
"You had one job," Emily said, plainly, looking to Kelly.
Before the boys could confess and explain what happened, the two executives remembered, screaming, "Your day with deke!"
As they ran into the office, pulling up the blog from behind the desk, Emily and the boys stood, regretfully, in front of them.
"Gustavo, before you read the blog-" Kendall tried to say, before being shushed by them both.
"'The Big Time Truth,'" Gustavo read. "'After lies about snowboarding, corporate written sound bites, and being locked in a supply closet, I knew within my first five minutes that Big Time Rush were big time phonies.'"
As soon as it sank in, Gustavo stood, screaming, "You locked him in a supply closet? You had one job," He shouted, before looking to Emily, accusingly.
"But, hey! "'The rest of my day was literally A Big Time Rush,'" Kelly interrupted, having read further on into the post.
Confused, Emily crouched over, turning the computer around for her to see. The boys leaned over Emily, reading along.
"'And not just because of 20 foot high heating duct slides, garbage can rides, and sparkling water delivered upon request,'" Logan read from her side.
"'But in discovering that Big Time Rush are four dedicated, smart, and fun-loving guys who share a passion for music and life,'" Carlos gasped, continuing on.
"'My day with Big Time Rush is one I'll never forget,'" James read, ecstatically, both arms on the desk, Emily in between. Noticing when he spoke, she looked back, the two making eye contact, and both uncomfortably shifting in their spots.
"'And I'm looking forward to hearing their new album,'" Kendall finished.
Taking it all in, the group went silent, before breaking out into cheers of celebration. Getting off her knees, Emily jumped up with the guys, double high-fiving Logan and Kendall.
"Okay, okay," Gustavo said, gaining their attention again. "Now that my dogs have crushed phase two of our big time web attack, let's go back to phase one and make some web videos for the Big Time Rush website."
"And cancel phase three," Emily "coughed" into her fist, making the man roll his eyes.
"And this time, try not to break the cameras," Kelly told them, handing the camera to James.
"Got it."
***
The boys broke the camera while sliding down the air duct.
Gustavo and Kelly gave up and assigned Emily to follow the boys around the record them whenever something "internet worthy" was going on, as Gustavo put it.
Sitting in her apartment, curled up on the couch, Emily had connected the camera to her laptop, transferring the videos.
She got videos of them hanging out by the pool, playing hockey, foosball, going down the slide, and then decided to take some solo videos.
Before clicking play on the one with Carlos, a knock came from her door. Not having locked it, she shouted from her position, "It's open!"
The door swung open, Logan entering.
"Hey, Em, I was wondering if we could work on this assignment together," He said, most likely needing a quiet space to work. She nodded, brushing him off, meaning he could go anywhere and get started. "What are you doing?" The boy asked, setting his books down on her table and jumping over the back of the couch to land in the spot besides the girl.
"I'm going over some videos I got for the website before I send them to Gustavo," She answered.
"Let's see," he told her, leaning in to see the screen.
The video opened with Carlos waving at the camera. "Hey guys! This is Carlos from Big Time Rush. One thing you might know not about me is..." He quickly threw his helmet on his head, hitting it twice, Logan rolling his eyes. "I wear my helmet a lot." He said, shrugging, before slipping on a t-shirt left on the ground, smacking his protected head into the wall. The video ended with Emily gasping from behind the camera.
Logan nodded, not surprised, "That shows lots of personality," He hummed.
She scrolled through the videos, "I got one of you hard at work. One of Kendall with his family," she listed.
Noticing she didn't mention his other friend, "And James?" Logan asked, knowing James was by no means her favorite.
She sighed, throwing her head back. "I have a video of him walking me through his hair care routine."
Logan let out a laugh and then suppressing it, "Oh, wow, that must have been fun," he laughed.
"It shows lots of personality," Emily commented, tilting her head Logan's way.
Thinking about it for a while, "I know James flirts with you a lot, but that's not really his personality. I think he's doing it to get attention from you."
Sitting up, "And why doesn't he ever stop then?"
"James probably thinks you have this set idea of who is he, and aren't willing to think anything else." Noticing Emily didn't plan on speaking, "You have to take everything James says with a grain of salt, but, Em, he really is one of the best friends I've ever had."
Taking in Logan's sincerity, Emily nodded to herself, closing her laptop to go get her homework to start, "I would love to be friends with James," she told Logan, over her shoulder as she left the room to get her things. She quickly came back, "Oh, and Logan? Thanks for calling me out on it," she told the boy.
"No, no, I didn't mean-" He started to say, thinking he offended the girl.
"No," She cut him off, knowing he misunderstood, "Seriously, thank you. I've never had a friend willing to tell me when I'm wrong," she told him, smiling.
Logan smiled back, sitting on her kitchen table, flipping open the text book, and started reading.

Hi, I'm back. I hope y'all liked that part at the end. I wanna explore more of the relationships that I might not get a chance to within the episodes themselves.
