The World We Live In

Yes it is 2:32am in the morning and yes I am still scrolling through things in the Internet although I should be sleeping and yes I am doing other things I should not be doing but I just felt the strong sudden urge to share my opinion of this picture I came across since I was heavily appalled by it. Just take a look at the picture.

The Little Mermaid

I'm not gonna lie to you I love this movie and I still do but when I look at the caption I can't help but shake my head. It's disgusting. A movie for little children is telling them that it's alright to change the way you look be someone who you're originally not and you'll be happy and get the relationship that you want.

Ariel had problems at home and instead of doing what any good parent would do and talk to her about it, her father decides to ignore it causing the first problem.

The second problem here is curiosity. Everyone knows that curiosity killed the cat. It kills me everyday and it's the reason I'm still awake now 😅😅 but her curiosity takes the cake. You experience a new world from where you live but that's enough for you. Now you want to risk your life and jeopardize your home and your people just to get a closer view of this unexplored world. There was line she could've drawn but she chose to ignore it and nearly got her father and some other friends killed in process. Sure it had it's perks when she saved the prince's life but at what cost? This brings us to problem 3.

Problem 3 is addiction. She tasted her first glimpse of a human up close and she wanted more. She stopped at mother to get close to him and lost herself in the process.

Problem 4 body shaming and the media. Face it we can't get away from it. It's everywhere we look and in everything we do. She wanted him and she knew she couldn't get him with the way she looked now. It's how many girls feel now. What I do if I feel that way is to throw on some makeup and do my hair really pretty but she too it to the extreme. Ariel got 'surgery' (all of us saw the movie) and got a new body and lost a part of her in the process. On tv or in magazines everyone sees the models and wants to look like them and so cosmetic surgeons make money because of it. Everyone wants fuller lips or a bigger butt or boobs. Kylie Jenner is a good example of this. Ariel basically showed us that it's alright for us to change ourselves just to be seen a certain way in a certain person's eyes rather than accepting and loving exactly who we are.

Problem number 5 is when life threw her a lemon. Ursula saw that Ariel was about to get the prince and she stepped in to stop it from happening. In all honesty there was nothing she could do at that point since she had already sold her soul to the sea witch. She just saw the errors of her decisions and regretted it. Just goes to show be satisfied with what you have.

Problem number 6 Ariel ends up on land with the prince in the end. So at the end of everything that happened you still didn't learn your lesson? You still ran off to the prince with your new body rather than living with the fact that all is well and learning to love you. You still took the cowards way out and ran off to him forgetting your family and everyone else you shredded out in the process. And she barely has any weight on her body. Is this how Disney sees beautiful? There is not one princess out there with a little meat on her bones. Only evil people are fat and all men have muscles and big jocks.

The world we live in today is one that makes me question it quite a lot. There are very subtle but loud messages in what goes on around us. Who knew Disney would make it that extreme? And now there are little girls watching this some of your younger sisters are learning the wrong message to carry around in life. Don't get me wrong I am still a huge Disney fan and love all of the princess movies with my mom when they first come out. But we need to aware of what's going. Cinderella; it's ok to be abused, just wait one day your prince will come and take you away to a happy life. Bullcrap. If you're being abused speak up. It's the only way to have a change.

Again love Disney but please look at the signs. I'm really hurt now so I'm gonna go play a game and the. Go to my bed. Good night.
