Breached

"Mr. Sidwani I am afraid someone has snuck in the system violating the doctors and other healthcare workers' personal information. We will need to find someone fast who can help with us with damage control.."

My IT manager's words rung in my ears. How could this happen?

My uncle had left me his company hoping I would expand his legacy. Now the board would truly never trust me.

"What are our options Mr. Varma? How come there was no firewalls or any security walls in place to combat this? We will need security for at least 40 staff members that have been hired already. Those that were in limbo will likely not want to work here," I declare miffed.

" Sir there is a consultancy company that may be able to help," he stammered.

"Give me the name, and I want a team from there asap!"

"Do you recall Viraj Trehan?"

I glared at him .

" He was a major real estate moghul back in Delhi, but we all know what he really did for a living," my best friend Neil said.

"Yeah so what about him? What makes you think Mr. Trehan will help us?"

"Not exactly him. He has two grown children now. They branched out one of his legitimate businesses some years ago. They deal with IT breaches and setting up medical practices so this doesn't happen," Neil hissed at Mr. Varma's direction.

"So wise guy, how do I get them to come here?"

"Well now that you mention it, Karthik Trehan and his kid sister did go to the same school as us," Neil pointed out.

"That doesn't mean they will just come over and give us some VIP treatment and fix our issues. I am going to have no medical staff here unless I can secure my staff's privacy and safety asap," I retort.

"Vikram, I have texted Karthik this morning. Simiran and he will arrive here by lunch time. That reminds me, I better go make arrangements," Neil quipped.

"No how about we make Mr. Varma have the honors and we have a chat about how.."

"Do you really want to keep him around to ruin our chances of resolving this issue?"

I roll my eyes.

" You are fired Mr. Varma," I yell out as Neil leaves to make arrangements for our guests.

Meanwhile...

"Bhaiya I really could have come here alone," Simiran declared.

"I thought you liked when we worked together ,"Karthik said cheerfully.

"Haha. As if I will believe you! Dad won't let me go alone out of Delhi like ever ! I even said it was someone we grew up with , who went to our school," his sister declared.

"You are his princess. After mom, you are the only girl he is protective of. Actually maybe before Dadi died of that aneurysm , he was protective of her too," her brother pondered.

Simiran sighed.

Their grandmother's death three years ago had made her father a bit more anxious for everyone else's safety.

Dadi had tamed his anxiety when Simiran first went on a stayover school trip at age 11. But later she learned the security detail led by a Baldev Uncle was following her throughout her trip.

False sense of freedom for 2 days felt great until later when she realized her father was stubborn enough to avoid the threats from her mother to let her be.

She sighed as the chopper approached the helipad on top of Sidwani Enterprises Building.

"I still don't get how a big company like this doesn't have a secure IT firewall," her brother muttered.

She smiled.

" Well that is why we are here to find out," she quipped.

Two young men dressed formally led a group of men and women to welcome them to their office.

The one on the left recognized her right away. Neil Trivedi's father had approached her father for a business partnership shortly after Dadi had passed away. Mr. Aanad Trivedi wasn't as great as her father in his acumen in handling his businesses.

Obviously, Viraj Trehan had one answer for his ridiculous proposition.

" Whether I am alive or not, whether I am rich or on the streets , my daughter is my most precious diamond. You and your son are no jewlers that will respect her the way she deserves," he hissed in the corner.

Simiran was really good at gathering information. She was a chameleon like her father. She could fit into any crowd and command their interest or hide in the shadows until it was time to reveal herself.

Seeing Neil here meant one thing.

Game on.
