Jhanvi Ki Janam-Jhanviś Birth

With the day of the gender reveal drawing near, Dev was buzzing with excitement. The idea of becoming a parent to a little girl made him happy and excited. He made a collage of famous women he admired since he was so excited to tell Anna about the reveal.

Dev (grinning): Anna, mujhe aapako kuch dikhalaana hai. Yahaan aao(I want to show you something. Come on over here.)

Curious, Anna walked over to Dev as he was revealing a collage of Nayanthara, Katrina Kaif, Aishwarya Rai, Sonali Bendre, Juhi Chawla, Madhuri Dixit, Kriti Sanon, Shraddha Kapoor, and Kiara Advani.

Anna (confused): Yah kya hai, Dev(What's this, Dev?)

Dev (enthusiastically): Hamaara chota bachi jaldi hi prithvi ki kuch sabase adbhut mahilaon ki shreni mein shaamil ho jaega. Main keval un avishvasaneey gunon ke baare mein soch sakata tha jo use milenge(Our little child will soon be joining the ranks of some of the most amazing ladies on earth. All I could think of was the incredible traits she would get.)

Anna misunderstood Dev's explanation of the collage's purpose, which caused her to experience a wave of envy and insecurity.

Anna (misunderstanding): Kya aap mujhe is tarah us nai mahila ke baare mein bata rahe hain jisake saath aap dating kar rahe hain? Ab, kya aapake paas yahi vikalp hain(Is this how you're telling me about this new woman you're dating? Now, are these the choices that you have?)

Dev (bewildered): Nahi, Anna- aap samajh nahi rahe hain! Main bas beti paida karane ke baare mein soch rahi thi. Itana hi(No, Anna—you're not getting it! All I was thinking about was getting a daughter. That's it.)

Anna (jealous): Aap any mahilaon ke college bana rahe hain, lekin aapane mujhe bache ka ling bhi nahi bataaya. Mujhase aur kya chhupa rahe ho(You're creating collages of other women, but you didn't even tell me the gender of the baby. From me, what else are you hiding?)

Seeing the hilarious miscommunication, Anna burst out laughing, seeing the mixture of strain and perplexity on Dev's face.

Anna (laughing): Main us par bahut hansa, Dev! Mainne maan liya ki aap haal hi mein mili ek mahila ke baare mein charcha kar rahe the(I laughed so hard at that, Dev! I assumed you were discussing a recent woman that you met.)

Dev starts to laugh out loud with her.

Dev and Anna sat in silence for a short while, enjoying the unexpected moment of happiness they had just experienced when the laughter stopped. Compared to the suffering and sorrow they had experienced during their divorce, it was a huge contrast. When they decided to call it quits on their marriage, Dev couldn't help but think back on how far they'd come.

He recalled the tears, the restless nights, and the overpowering sense of loss and uncertainty that had overcome him. But now that he was sitting across from Anna and they were actually laughing, he was filled with optimism and hope for the future.

For a split second, he allowed himself to picture a scenario in which they could put their differences behind them and begin a fresh, happier relationship. The thought of being able to spend happy times like these with someone brought him a sense of comfort and tranquility he hadn't had in a long time, even if they weren't romantically attached.

Dev (smiling): Beshak, mera matalab vah nahi tha jo aapane socha tha jab mainne kaha tha ki main chaahata tha ki hamaari beti bhi unake jaisi adbhut ho(Of course, I didn't mean what you thought when I said that I wanted our daughter to be just as amazing as them.)

The air in the clean, well-lit delivery room was a mixture of nervousness, excitement, and a sense of unity. Dev remained by Anna's side, resolved to be a comforting presence during the difficult times leading up to the birth of their child. The whole Malhotra family and Anna's family came to see the exciting but nerve-racking moment.

Doctor (assuring): Yah cesarean section ka samay hai. Dev, Anna ke paas yahaan rahane ke liye aapaka svaagat hai. Main baaki sabhi ko baahar intajaar karane ke liye kahata hoon(It's time for the cesarean section. You are welcome to remain here next to Anna, Dev. I ask everyone else to wait outside.)

While the medical staff prepared themselves for the procedure, Dev held Anna's hand and gave her a comforting squeeze.

Dev (softly): Anna, hum sabhi ek saath is mein kar rahe hain. Sab kuch sahi disha mein ja raha hai(we're all in this together. Everything is going to be alright.)

Despite her anxiety, Anna forced a weak grin as she recognized how comforting Dev's presence was.

There was a buzz of controlled mayhem in the room as the medical team worked quickly to get everything ready for the delivery. The Malhotra family stood in line outside, exchanging worried looks and encouraging grins.

Raj (to the family):Sabhi log apana utsaah banae rakhen. Hamaari poti janm lene ke kagaar par hai(Everyone, keep your spirits up. Our grandchild is on the verge of being born.)

Dev was a constant in the delivering room, encouraging Anna while the medical staff performed their duties.

Dev (whispering): Anna, aap shaanadaar kar rahe hain. Thodi hi der mein hamaara bachi hamaare saamane prakat ho jaayega(you're doing fantastic. In a short while, our child will be revealed to us.)

Right then and there, all she could think of was her Edward and everything they had gone through together. She thought back to their wedding day, how he had gazed at her with such affection and love, and how they had made a lifelong commitment to each other. She couldn't stop smiling despite the tears that were falling down her face as the memories filled her head.

She was thankful for their time together even as she sat there, buried in her own thoughts. She was aware that the memories they had made would always be with her, even though his death at the bridge had destroyed her world.

But another harsh blow had been dealt by life. Now her beloved Dev was divorcing her too. She felt as though she could barely breathe from the agony of losing another love.

Fortunately, Dev was there to support her at this trying time. She knew he would be her pillar of support as she navigated this new phase of her life as he clutched her hand tightly.

There was a collective sigh of relief in the room as the doctor announced their daughter's birth. Soon after, the room was filled with the happy sound of a newborn crying.

Doctor (smiling): Yah ek svasth bachi hai. Aap donon ko badhai(It's a healthy baby girl. Congratulations, both of you.)

The medical staff put in a lot of effort to guarantee Anna and the baby's health. When Dev finally took a first sight at his daughter, he was so overcome with emotion that his eyes mixed love and wonder.

Dev (whispering to the baby):Are, choti bachi!Hum aapaka intajaar kar rahe the(hey there, little one. We've been waiting for you.)

The family's enthusiasm built to a crescendo outside the delivery room as they anticipated hearing the news.

Renu (teary-eyed): A baby girl! This is wonderful news

Anna could not help but feel overwhelmed with emotion as she held her newborn daughter in her arms. With Dev by her side, they both had tears in their eyes as they gazed at their daughter. Khushi, stood next to them, holding her new baby sister.

Edward appeared in front of them in his ethereal form. Dev gave Anna a perplexed look as she gasped in shock.

Edward said, "Anna, mere priy, mujhe tum par bahut garv hai. Mujhe poora vishvaas hai ki aap ek shaanadaar maan hongi kyonki aap ek pyaari si bachi ko is duniya mein lekar aai hain(my love, I am so proud of you. I am confident that you will be an awesome mom because you have brought a lovely baby girl into the world.)"

As Edward spoke, Anna experienced a wave of warmth and comfort. Even though he was no longer physically present with her, she knew that he was keeping an eye on them and that she could always count on him.

"Edward," Anna said, "thank you. I miss you so much."

"Anna, I miss you too," Edward answered. "Lekin aap hamesha mujh par bharosa kar sakate hain. Aur main chaahoonga ki aap mujhase ek vaada karen(But you can always count on me. And I'd like you to make me a promise.)"

"What is it?" Anna asked, curious.

Edward glanced at Khushi and then back at Anna. "Main chaahata hoon ki aap mujhase vaada karen ki aap is nanhi bachi aur Khushi ko sagi bahanon se bhi jyaada kareeb rakhenge(I want you to promise me that you will keep this little one and Khushi closer than real sisters,)" Edward said. "Anna,ve bahanen hain. Isake alaava, bhale hi ve khoon se sambandhit nahi hain, phir bhee unhe sachi bahanon ki tarah ek-doosare ka samarthan, dekhabhaal aur pyaar karane ki zaroorat hai. Mujhase vaada karen ki aap aisa karane ka prayaas karana kabhi band nahi karenge(they are sisters. Also, even though they are not related by blood, they still need to support, care for, and love each other just like true sisters would. Make a commitment to me that you will never stop trying to make that happen.)"

With tears running down her cheeks, Anna nodded. "I promise," she declared. "Main hamesha yah sunishchit karoonga ki ve kareeb hon, ki ve ek-doosare ko jaanate hon, aur ve ek-doosare ko sagi bahanon ki tarah pyaar karen(I will always make sure that they are close, that they know each other, and that they love each other like real sisters.)

Edward gave her a smile, and for an instant, Anna had a feeling that he was standing by them, protecting their daughter.

"Thank you, Anna," Edward said. "I love you."

Anna answered, "I love you too, Edward," as a wave of love and serenity enveloped her. She looked at Khushi, and the two of them smiled, knowing that they would be there for each other no matter what, exactly as Edward had wanted.

After the C-section, the family—which included the Malhotras and Anna's relatives—gathered around the newborn baby girl, turning the hospital room into a joyful oasis. The air was heavy with love, laughter, and a common amazement at the newest member of the family.

Dev (cradling the baby): Hamaari choti rajakumaari aa gai hai(Our little princess has arrived.)

Each family member took turns holding, cuddling, and expressing wonder at the small bundle of joy, and the room filled with coos and soft words.

Raj (smiling): Usane pahale hi poore parivaar ko apani choti ungali mein lapet liya hai(She's got the entire family wrapped around her little finger already.)

Lynette (playfully): Bilkul apane raaj darabaar ki rajakumaari ki tarah(Just like a princess in her royal court.)

The infant was the center of attention as family members showered her with love and compassion while she was bundled up in a cozy pink blanket.

Masoom (teasing): Mera daava hai ki vah ab tak ki sabase laad-pyaar vaali raajakumaari hogi.(She is going to be the most pampered princess ever, I bet.)

Renu (excited):Ab usake pahale janmadin samaaroh ka aayojan shuroo karane ka samay aa gaya hai(It's time to start organizing her first birthday celebration!)

Excitement and lively talks about the future filled the room. The infant slept soundly in the arms of several family members, completely oblivious to the attention she received.

The differences that had previously caused tension in the family's relationships seemed to disappear as they played with and cooed over the newborn, replaced by the joy that they all felt at having a new member.

Dev (whispering to Anna):Vah hum sabako ek saath laayi hai, hai an(She's brought us all together, hasn't she?)

Everyone comes up with Indian names for her.

Sunaina (Bhabhi): Naam ke roop mein Anaya ke baare mein kya khyaal hai? Yah adviteey hai aur isaka sundar arth hai, "bhagavaan ne uttar diya(What about Anaya as a name? It is unique and has the lovely meaning, "God answered.)"

Tej (Bhaiya): Arjunisha ke baare mein kya? Hamaare parivaar ki tarah, isamen aadhunik aur paaramparik pahaluon ka mishran hai(What about Arjunisha? Like our family, it blends modern and traditional aspects.)

Masoom (Younger Sister): Avani ek aisa naam hai jo mujhe pasand hai. Yah ek shaktishaali aur zameeni naam hai jisaka arth hai "prithvi(Avani is a name I like. It is a powerful and grounded name that means "earth.)"

Rajesh (Dad): What about Samarthya?Yah lachilepan aur taakat ka pratinidhitv karata hai, jo aisi visheshataen hain jinake baare mein ham aasha karate hain ki vah unamen maujood hongi(It represents resilience and strength, which are attributes we hope she possesses.)

Aarti (Mom): Jhanvi vah naam hai jo main sujhaata hoon. Yah sundar, kaalaateet hai aur hamen hamaari viraasat se jodata hai(is the name I suggest. It's elegant, timeless, and ties us back to our heritage.)

Hoshiyaar (Jiju/Brother-in-law):Main use Vihaanika kahane ka sujhaav deta hoon. Isaka taatpary hai "ek nae yug ki shuruaat" aur isamen ek samasaamayik anubhav hai(I suggest calling her Vihaanika. It implies "dawn of a new era" and has a contemporary feel.)

Duggu: How about Tanirika? It's a bit unique, just like me!

Isha (Cousin Sister):Main Aaraadhya naam sujhaata hoon. Isaka arth hai pooja ki gai, jo usake prati hamaare prem ka prateek hai(I suggest the name Aaradhya. It means 'worshipped,' symbolizing the love we have for her.)

In the midst of celebrating their new daughter, Dev and Anna, who were full of fun, thought it would be fun to play one of their favorite games to decide on her name. They placed out a set of name cards with the different options the family had suggested while they sat together in the warm and inviting nursery, surrounded by the soft glow of low lighting and the soothing sounds of the baby's sound sleep.

Dev (smirking): Let the Name Selection Game begin.

Anna (grinning): May the best name win.

They arranged the name cards face down on the small coffee table, jumbled the suggestions from various family members on each one.

Dev (drawing a card): And the first nominee is... Avani.

Anna (with a chuckle): Interesting decision. Let me choose one now. Aaradhya!

They kept playing the game, talking about the significance and meaning of each name as they took turns drawing cards. As they made their way through the various suggestions, laughter reverberated throughout the space and a spirit of friendship pervaded the atmosphere.

Dev (drawing another card): Next up, Arjunisha. What do you think?

Anna (thoughtfully): I like the sound of it. Now, let's see... Jhanvi!

Dev (raising an eyebrow): Ah, our traditional pick. Classic choice.

As the game went on, they evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of each name, taking into account the special traits and meanings that spoke to them.

Anna (playfully): Okay, last one. Tanirika.

Dev (smiling): Duggu's suggestion. He'd be pleased

Following their conversation about the last options, Dev and Anna exchanged a deep look.

Anna (softly): Kya aapako nahn lagata kiJhanvi mein kaalaateet aakarshan hai(Don't you believe Jhanvi has a timeless charm?)

Dev (nodding): It does. And it connects us to our roots.

With a sense of agreement, Dev and Anna finalized their decision.

Dev (declaring): Jhanvi it is!

As the festive mood pervaded the Malhotra residence, Duggu announced his approval of the selected name with sincere delight and fondness.

Duggu (enthusiastically): Jhanvi is a perfect name! I love it!

His approval gave an additional layer of happiness to the festivities, reinforcing the family's unity in their selection of the newest member.

The Malhotra family excitedly got ready for infant Jhanvi's Hindu baby rituals in the days that followed. These customs had cultural importance and represented blessings, protection, and formally introducing the baby with the family's history.

Family members gathered for Jhanvi's ceremonial naming ceremony, known as Namkaran, which held cultural and spiritual importance, filled the Malhotra home with excitement. Vibrant décor decorated the space, and a miniature altar of candles, flowers, and goddess statues was assembled.

Dev (smiling):Ab hamaari nanhi raajakumaari ko duniya ke saamane pesh karane ka sahi samay hai(Now is the right time to present our little princess to the world.)

Anna nodded, keeping Jhanvi near as she wore small traditional clothing perfect for the event. There was a mixture of solemnity and excitement in the air as the family gathered around the altar.

A tiny lamp was lit by Aarti to represent the presence of heavenly blessings during the ritual.

Aarti (whispering a prayer):Jhanvi ka jeevan is lau ki tarah ujjval ho(May Jhanvi's life be as radiant as this flame.)

It was Jhanvi's turn to receive blessings and wishes from her family, along with their hopes and goals for her future.

Masoom (smiling):Jhanvi hamaare jeevan mein hansi aur khushi lae(May Jhanvi bring laughter and joy into our lives.)

Deep (placing a hand on Dev's shoulder): Vah badi hokar majaboot aur buddhimaan bane(May she grow up to be strong and wise.)

The Malhotra family gathered for the Mundan, a customary Hindu rite that involves ceremoniously removing a small bit of the baby's hair, after the ecstatic Namkaran ceremony. A mixture of excitement and reverence pervaded the air as the family got ready for this momentous occasion.

The Mundan ceremony was to be held in a small, holy place that the family had prepared. A priest in traditional garb set up the ritual implements and recited prayers for the baby's health.

Priest (blessing): Yah anushthaan Jhanvi ke liye pavitrata, swasthya aur samriddhi lae(May this ritual bring purity, health, and prosperity to Jhanvi.)

Masoom (teasingly): Jhanvi, it's time for a new hairstyle!

Raj (smiling): Yah ek aisa kaary hai jo hamaari sanskrti ke anusaar shishu ko sabhi nakaaraatmakata se mukt kar deta hai. Yah pavitrata ki or ek maarg ka pratinidhitva karta hai(This is an act that, according to our culture, cleanses the infant of all negativity. It represents a path towards purity.)

Before carefully performing the Mundan, the priest murmured prayers while holding a tiny tuft of Jhanvi's hair. Jhanvi's parents caressed her during the ceremony, as if she was relaxed.

Family members alternated in laying small offerings and blessings on Jhanvi's head as the Mundan came to an end. The soft sounds of prayer and the lovely scent of incense permeated the space.

The Malhotra family came together for the Annaprashan ceremony, which signifies the introduction of solid food into the baby's diet, as part of the ongoing celebration of Jhanvi's birth. A spirit of happiness and togetherness pervaded the air as the family got ready for this momentous occasion.

Dev (smiling): Hamaari nanhi Jhanvi badi ho rahi hai. Usake liye thos bhojan ka pahala svaad chakhane ka samay aa gaya hai(Our little Jhanvi is growing up. Time for her first taste of solid food.)

Jhanvi was beautiful in her tiny traditional outfits that Anna had picked out just for the occasion as she cradled the infant in her arms.

Anna (tenderly): You're going to love this, sweetheart.

The Annaprashan ceremony was held in a modest yet exquisitely adorned room, hosted by the family. The ceremonies were performed by a priest who prayed for Jhanvi's well-being, joy, and future prosperity.

Raj (with pride): Yah samaroh Jhanvi ko poshan ke daayare se parichit karaane ka ek sundar tareeka hai(This ceremony is a lovely way to introduce Jhanvi to the realm of nourishment.)

The priest offered Jhanvi a little silver bowl filled with rice and ghee mixture, signifying the beginning of her adventure into the world of solid foods.

Anna (feeding Jhanvi): Yahaan tum jao, mere pyaar. Duniya ka aapaki pehla svaad(Here you go, my love. Your first taste of the world.)

Joyous exclamations and grins filled the room as Jhanvi took her first taste.

The Malhotra family was divided over the idea of baptizing Jhanvi since different family members had different views. Whereas Aarti and Masoom were adamant that Jhanvi should be brought up as a Hindu, Anna expressed her desire for a Christian baptism.

Anna (with sincerity): Meri raay mein, Catholic baptism, vishwaas ko sveekaar karane aur Jhanvi ko ek thos adhyatmik aadhaar dene ka ek sundar tareeka hai(A Catholic baptism, in my opinion, is a beautiful way to accept faith and give Jhanvi a solid spiritual foundation.)

Aarti (resolutely): Anna, hamaare parivaar ki majboot hindu vanshaavali hai. Un reeti-rivaajon ko jaari rakhana aur unhe Jhanvi ko sikhana mahatvapoorn hai(our family has a strong Hindu ancestry. It's crucial to carry on with those customs and impart them to Jhanvi.)

Masoom (supporting Aarti): Hamaari pehchaan hindutva se bani hai. Jhanvi ko svaab haavik roop se hamaare dhaarmik aur saanskrtik reeti-rivaajon mein doobakar bada hona chaahiye(Our identity has been molded by Hinduism. Jhanvi should naturally grow up immersed in our religious and cultural customs.)

The divergent viewpoints caused heated debates inside the family, with each member vehemently upholding their own beliefs.

Dev (trying to mediate): Kya aisa koi samjhauta nahin hai jo dono paramparaon ka samman karata ho? Shaayad Jhanvi ki parvarish mein dono pahaluon ko shaamil karen(Is there not a compromise that honors both traditions? Perhaps include both aspects into Jhanvi's upbringing?)

Emotions were running high as the argument continued despite efforts to find common ground.

Lynette: Yah dhyaan rakhana mahatvapoorn hai ki Jhanvi har cheez ke kendr mein hai. Hamaare nirnay usaki bhalai par aadhaarit hone chaahiye(It's important to keep in mind that Jhanvi is at the heart of everything. Our decisions should be based on her well-being.)

The members of the Malhotra and Anna's families managed to come to terms with the issue and accept a compromise that respected both the Hindu and Christian traditions. They chose to baptize Jhanvi in the Syro-Malabar Catholic tradition, which has origins in the Indian Christian community, after giving it significant thought and having many discussions.

The family came together in a gorgeously decorated church, fusing the characteristics of both families' cultures. A subtle blend of incense, dim lighting, and an underlying sense of unity pervaded the atmosphere.

Priest (addressing the family): Aaj hum apane dono dharmon aur reeti-rivaajon ko ek saath laate hue, Jhanvi ke baptism ka jashn manaane ke liye pyaar ki bhaavana se ek saath aate hain(We get together in the spirit of love to commemorate Jhanvi's baptism today, bringing our both religions and customs together.)

Anna (whispering to Dev): Yah mere liye bahut maayane rakhata hai, Dev. Samajhane ke liye dhanyavaad(This means a lot to me, Dev. Thank you for understanding.)

Dev (smiling):Jhanvi ke liye hamaara pyaar sabase jyaada maayane rakhata hai(Our love for Jhanvi is what matters the most)

Jhanvi, dressed in a tiny christening gown, looked around with innocent curiosity as the ceremony progressed.

The family members took part in a number of rites, including as the ceremonial pouring of water and the anointing with holy oil, which stood for the purifying of Jhanvi's spirit. Her godparents are Tej and Sunaina.

Raj (reflecting): Yah hamaare itihaas ka ek sundar mishran prateet hota hai. Hamaare parivaar ke sauhaard ka sachcha pratinidhitv(This seems to be a lovely fusion of our histories. A true representation of our family's harmony.)

The priest gave Jhanvi and the family one last round of blessings before the ritual came to an end.

The families of Jhanvi's baptism, the Malhotras, and Anna threw a festive party. A variety of beautiful ornaments were used to decorate the space, which represented the families' diverse cultural backgrounds.

Anna (welcoming guests): Jhanvi ke jeevan ke is vishesh din ka jashn manaane ke liye yahaan aane ke liye aap sabhi ko dhanyavaad. Aapaki upasthiti hamaare liye bahut maayane rakhati hai(Thank you all for being here to celebrate this special day in Jhanvi's life. Your presence means a lot to us.)

Aarti (raising a toast): Jhanvi ke liye, vah jo dono duniyaon ke sarvottam pahaluon ko jodati hai. Vah sadbhav aur prem se bhara jeevan jien(To Jhanvi, the one who combines the best aspects of both worlds. May she live a life full of harmony and love.)

Jhanvi, the focus of attention in her baptism gown, was handed down from one loving relative to the next, symbolizing the families' newly discovered togetherness.

Cultural performances followed, encompassing dance, music, and even a delicate mingling of Christian and Hindu melodies.

Duggu (enthusiastically): This is like a big, happy family party! Jhanvi is lucky

In addition to commemorating Jhanvi's baptism, the reception was a show of the power of love that cut over denominational boundaries. It signaled the end of a wonderful chapter in the family's journey and demonstrated their capacity to come to understanding and forge enduring bonds of love, joy, and togetherness.
