56. Back

Halima hugs her mother and her father before they enter the car. She doesn't even look outside because she doesn't miss Nigeria, not one bit. She only misses her family and friends. Who's she kidding? She hardly has any friends but she's going to change all that now. She has already made a friend back at France, she's a Nigerian and she lives in Abuja too. They even exchanged contacts.

They drive directly to the Abba Sulayman house as per Halima's nagging that she wants to see her Ammi, Teemah, Amalie and Afnan. Innayo was discharged two weeks ago and she's actually getting very better now.

The Abba Sulaymans want to even start planning Amal's wedding. It's just Halima they were waiting for and according to what Fatima said in the morning, Hamza's parents are coming for the sa rana next week.

They arrive at the house and Halima doesn't even wait for her parents. She just enters the house like she does all the time. On entering the parlor she's met with the one person that if it were upto her, she doesn't want to see till she dies. But she's married to this person so avoiding him is a waste.

Moreover, Hajjo has made it clear to Halima that she's going back to her husband's house because according to her he's back to his senses. Audu has been forced to stay out of the matter. It's in situations like this that Halima wishes that her father was more outspoken than he is. So bottom line is that Halima is going back to her matrimonial home once she spends a day with her mother inlaw.

The tornado of emotions she sees in his eyes make her stagger. There's craving, sorrow, apology, self hate and alot more but the most prominent is craving and apology.

Sa'eed takes slow unsure steps towards Halima and she attempts to move back hitting her leg on something and almost falling down. He catches her with swiftness and speed he never knew he possess. Halima shivers in his hands. If someone were to see them, they'd throw 'aww' and 'so cute' at them. If only they know.

The shivers might look like shivers of love or arousal, but both of them know she's shivering in fear and nothing more. Her eyes are glistening and shining with accumulating unshed tears.

"Sa'eed dan Allah..." He cuts her off by capturing her lips in his, savoring the taste. The kiss is slow and passionate. Halima isn't kissing him back though. But Sa'eed doesn't mind. He knows he's taking everything too fast because he has to earn her trust again. But she's his wife and he has missed her more than ever. Afterall, a man will always act like the man that he is.

The unshed tears start to flow out of Halima's eyes and she closes her eyes, suddenly feeling like she's floating in midair. It isn't because she's aroused, feeling loved or happy. No! It's all fear, fear that's gripping at her guts and threatening to tear her apart.

Her breathing starts to become ragged and uneven. She feels like she's slipping into a huge dark room but she holds on, refusing to give into the darkness. Her body starts to visibly shake and more tears make their way out and design her fear stricken face. Her heart feels like it's about to explode because of fear. It's all fear.

All the while, Audu is trying to so hard not to pounce on Sa'eed for forcing himself unto his daughter like that, after all he did. His daughter is getting paler by the second and he's here kissing her like his life depends on it. The only thing keeping him in check is Hajjo. She's standing beside him looking at the couple.

Her knees give away and Sa'eed stops kissing her. As he attempts to stand her on her feet, she faints. Audu attempts to make a bolt for his daughter but Sa'eed beats him to it. Hajjo holds his hand and drags him up the stairs. She trusts Sa'eed to take care of her daughter.

Within the blink of an eye Sa'eed has her in the car with the driver taking them to the hospital.

Immediately they reach the hospital he scoops her in his arms and takes her towards the emergency unit.

"Please help me, my wife. She just lost consciousness for no reason." Sa'eed shouts and that gets the attention of a nurse. He quickly comes running with a stretcher and without being told, Sa'eed lays Halima on it. The nurse wheels her to where a doctor is and she's dragged into a room. The doors are shut in Sa'eed's face and he worriedly starts pacing to and fro while repeating Hasbunallahu wa ni'imal wakeel.

Within thirty minutes, the doctor and nurse are out. The nurse walks away and Sa'eed walks towards the doctor.

"Follow me to my office." Sa'eed fearfully follows the doctor.

Back at the Abba mansion, Hajjo and Innayo are discussing the wedding events and themes. Amal, Afnan and Fatima are busy looking up famous makeup artists, wedding planning crews, wedding event venues, photographing crews and all the other things they'd possibly need for the wedding who are experts in their various fields.

When Halima is asked after, Hajjo says she's on her way. That she went home to bring some things as she's spending the night here.

Audu and Abba are in Abba's study discussing with Hamza's father over a conference call on Hamza and Amal's accommodation. According to Hamza's father, he has a house in Asokoro which he's willing to give them, but it's not looking good enough for newly weds so they're discussing the renovation plans. What to add and what to remove.

Throughout the conversation, Audu hasn't been paying attention neither is he contributing. All he does is nod when his attention is being called upon.

They end the call and Abba turns to Audu.

"What's happening? You've been absent minded since you came here." Abba states.

"It's Halima." Audu tells Abba everything that happened and Abba picks his phone and makes a call. Soon, Fatima comes inside with her car key and a veil.

Audu tells her everything and she calls the driver requesting for their location.

"Fatima go there and make sure Sa'eed stays away from Halima." Fatima nods and then leaves immediately.

At the hospital, Sa'eed is sitting in the doctor's office.

"Who are you to the patient?" The doctor asks despite knowing the answer. He has gone through the papers Sa'eed filled out for Halima but he needs to hear it from Sa'eed.

"I'm her husband."

"Who was she with before she fainted?" Sa'eed's heart skips a beat but he answers anyways.

"She was with me. What happened?" The doctor adjusts his slim glasses to cover his eyes, taking a deep breath before dragging the glasses back to the tip of his nose.

"Was there anyone else with you who by any chance she has a bad memory of? Or probably someone she's extremely scared of?" Sa'eed sighs, scratching his now a little bit full hair with his car key. He hasn't had a hair cut since Halima left, that was about four months ago.

"Err... Yes and no." Sa'eed takes a deep breath.

"Explain please." Sa'eed opens his mouth to speak but the opening of a door and Fatima's voice cuts him off and makes him shut up then and there.

"Sorry for the interruption. I'm Doctor Fatima. I have all the answers to your questions." Fatima ignores the pleading look Sa'eed is giving her.

"Doctor Fatima, please, have a seat." Fatima sits on the swivel chair beside Sa'eed's and clears her throat.

"The patient, whose name I'd rather remains hidden despite the fact that you know, was forced to go through a traumatizing event by her husband, this man here. After that she was able to get out alive so she left the country for a few months. She came back today and because of the traumatizing event, she's now scared of her husband. He attempted to come close to her and she lost consciousness." The doctor types furiously before looking up at Fatima.

"When did this traumatizing event take place?"

"About four months ago." He types some more before he sighs.

"It's good the husband is here. You, Mr husband need to stay away from the patient till she's able to stand you. I suggest she starts seeing a therapist. Or, she should be staying around him till she's able to stand him. The second has more consequences attached than the first.

"One of the consequences is the one we've seen today. He attempted to come close to her and she had a panic attack. If care isn't taken, these panic attacks would become a part of her life and that wouldn't be good at all. Either way, it's your choice, she should be awake by now so you can take her home. But for the next few days, Mr husband please stay away from her." The doctor prescribes a pain reliever that would reduce the pain of the aftermath of the panic attack and Fatima leaves.

"Hey Fatima wait. Why would you do that?" Sa'eed asks angrily turning Fatima to look at him.

"I don't owe you any explanations. Please excuse me." Fatima leaves for the pharmacy and Sa'eed brings out his phone. He calls Hajjo and she picks.

After exchanging pleasantries Sa'eed tells her everything and she chuckles.

"Is she not my daughter? And she's also coming back to this house right? Don't worry then. Just go to your house, not your parents house. Get the house cleaned up and prepared to receive her." Sa'eed says an okay and thanks her before asking the driver to take him to his house.
