Chapter 16: Research And Magical Presence.

Sounds of breaking glass and swear words filled the house as Lilly, walked into her room, tear stains on her face, unable to process why her parents argued so much, even on Christmas Eve. She opened the door that led to her terrace, the place where she planted lots of flowers that gave her peace after a long day.

And that day, indeed was pretty long, she searched her pockets looking for the handkerchief, pulling it out and picking the flower that Darra gave her, laying it softy on the dirt where she planned to plant it. The scent of lavender filled her nose as she sniffed the handkerchief, convincing herself that that wasn't weird. She dug a hole right where she placed the unearthly flower and planted it right there.

The light from the full moon, shining onto it, the edges of its petals glowing with the same, luminous, pale, white light. 'It's a curious little flower, isn't it?' Darra's remarks on the flower echoed inside her head. "Indeed..." she mumbled to herself and saw the flower growing bigger and brighter under the moonlight.

"And it seems to bloom under the light of the full moon." she observed, entering her room and soon coming back outside with a notebook and a pen, the front cover of the notebook reading "interesting facts about flowers", the words looking old and yellowish, written with sloppy handwriting.

She went through all the flowers in her books, from the amazing daffodils to the sweet lavenders, bright red roses to calming daisies, joyful sunflowers to big bright tulips. Each has about three or four interesting facts. She came across a new page where she drew a sketch of the flower, she was also quite the artist, even though it was just a sketch, she didn't miss any detail, like as if photographing the flower. "Blooms under the moonlight.
Glowing edges.

The entire flower from the stalk to the tips of the petals is covered in blue" she wrote down in her notebook and thought about giving the flower a name, since Darra didn't quite mention it, and she had never seen anything like it. "Dane!" She said, writing the name in her notebook in block letters, going back into her room, and setting the tools back inside her drawer, she thought it was a good time for her to go to bed. The arguing stopped, and she was really tired from the day's events.

"Does he have the flower?" A deep and mysterious voice asked, seeming to be that of a man's as he was by the coast of Germany, staring into the sunset, with his phone pressed lightly on his ear. "He had the flower, then he gave it to some pesky human." A woman's voice said from the other side of the line, a little agitated.

"It's fine, keep her under observation. That flower is a powerful object created by his very own tears. It can be used for massive amounts of destruction if in the wrong hands. DON'T let it out of your sight." His voice echoed through the phone as he switched it off, not waiting for her reply, as he was now walking the streets of Russia, looking for a place to stay for the night.

She was standing on the highest floor of the tallest building in the world, she slowly backed away from the edge, moving a few feet back. "It's been quite a while since I've done this, let's just hope I make it okay."

She stopped and started running towards the edge, holding the bar with her hand and sprinting on them off the railings, falling from the skyscraper. She closed her eyes as if in meditation and in a few seconds an endless void appeared right in front of her, the edges dancing around in colors not one human eye could imagine ever existing, but in the center was just black, like as if a worm whole that never seemed to end.

She started spinning around too fast for the human eye to keep count as she went through the void, now appearing in the backyard, right where Lilly's room was. "At least I didn't lose my arm this time." She said, congratulating herself in her mind for being powerful enough, when she then spotted the flower, shining brightly among all the other flowers that looked dead in comparison to it. It was bigger and brighter now, and spreading that adored yet unearthly scent, yet again. "An unearthly scent, for a deadly price." She mumbled sighing. "Why did I pick this job again?"
