Chapter 10: Nightmare
Sitting in a dark room, he saw Grace, on the floor, with her hands covering he face, and soft sobs coming from her direction, her hair, messy and her dress torn up, with scratches and bruises littering her body, she was crying. "Grace...I'm so sorry...I--" He muttered out the words, not understanding why he was apologizing but was interrupted with a loud shriek coming from right beside her.
He saw a white silhouette he didn't seem to notice the first time he entered the room like it just appeared. By the shape of its body, he could tell it was a girl. The figure became clearer, he could see a pale face, with white long hair and she was wearing a long gown, only it looked old and ragged, with unholy bright red stains on it, like that was the dress she died in.
Darra looked back at Grace, trying his hardest to ignore the silhouette that was sitting uncomfortably close to her. "Run, Darra." She muttered, but the words seemed to reach his ears, muffled in whispers. In a blink of an eye, the silhouette was right in front of his gaze, his eyes widened to adjust to the brightness of its aura, soon realizing that it was Grace, her eyes, black like beads. But he only saw voids in the place of her eyes filled with disappointment and sadness.
"Why?" Her voice echoed, in a light, high pitch, through the room and everything became much darker, the both of them soon entering Darra's backyard, where he saw himself, screaming, shouting, and crying right next to his mother's grave. He looked back at grace, who soon spoke in her normal voice. "I thought we were best friends."
She began crying into her arms, louder and louder, and the sound of his own screams and cries haunted him. He inched closer to Graces' disheveled form, wanting to comfort her, when he stopped to the sound of her menacing laugh, one he had never heard coming from her vocal cords as if she was possessed by some evil being. "And you claim you love me, don't you, dear Darra?"
He saw her, a smirk forming on her lips as it froze, completing her evil glare, and her aura that was once white, was now purple with a hint of grey, showing pure terror, and his heart dropped. How did she find out? At that point, he wasn't clear about his feelings towards her. In his mind, it was written on the stone that his heart would beat only for her, yet his very heart, was refusing him to admit his feelings, and the words just rolled off his tongue.
"How sure are you?" She laughed once again, surely, that wasn't a good sign. Grace, or at least what looked of her, snapped her fingers and they were in Dillow, Darra, and Grace, looking about 5 years older than he was now, and she was running away from him. "You can't fall in love with me. I am your best friend, nothing more, nothing less." Her faint voice echoed through his mind as he just stood there, his arm out, as if reaching for Grace, calling her to come back, but she was long gone. Tears in his eyes, threatening to fall. Not only did he just lose the one his heart fell for, but he also lost, a very good friend.
"I happened to showyou your future. With the least to say, I broke your heart, and that left youshattered, would you like to see the rest?" She giggled with her hand in theair, as if just waiting for a signal so she could show him all he didn't want tosee.
He slowly walked over to Grace, and pulled her into an embrace, holdingher tight. "Grace, please come back. I know you're somewhere inside here pleasecome back." He said with a determined voice and rested his head on her soft, red, short locks. He heard soft sobs coming from under him, and that minute heknew that Grace was back.
Without hesitation, he pulled away from her andlooked inside her eyes, to see sadness and guilt filling the depths of her soul."Darra, run!" She shouted. She was being engulfed in darkness, from the tips ofher toes reaching to cover her up whole, and with the last of her strength, shemuttered, "I'm sorry!" And just like that, she was covered in darkness, fromhead to toe.
"Grace!" He shouted at the top of his lungs with tears in his eyesas everything around the both of them began to spin, he tried his best to focusbut the surroundings made him dizzy and his vision, blurry. He heard a loudshriek coming from the void of darkness, and everything around him started toshake, the entire earth seemed to rumble and crumble and just like that, heopened his eyes, wide.
