Chapter 11: Fun Whilst the Approaching Storm - Part 1

"I would like to thank you all for your presence." The voice of Hyperion said.

It was the middle of the night. The five legendary bladers where all fast asleep in their rooms. Unbeknownst to them, their partners had other plans in hand. They where in a large room around a long table accompanied with other spirits; some you may know, others, not so much. The important meeting was held as promised.

"May I ask you something, Your Highness?" a man with draconic gold and indigo features asked.

"Go ahead." Hyperion heeded the dragon's call.

"Why have you brought us here in the middle of the night? You do realise that I have a blader who can transform into an absolute monster when challenged by a powerful opponent! It is crucial for me and him to get a good night sleep to save some energy."

"Fafnir, Free's training may be important," another draconic spirit, this time with features that resemble white ice and wielding a lance spoke . "And so is Lui's. But the matters of this kingdom is equally important, especially when the king himself is the one who called us here."

"What Longinus just said is true, Fafnir." Hyperion confirmed. "Besides, Longinus is the rightful guardian of the last surviving member of the House of the Dawn. You are aware of that, right, Longinus?"

Longinus took a glance at the one sitting near him, Dragon. He sighed and said, "Yes, I am aware, Your Highness."

Hyperion nodded at this and was about to speak before...

"Father."

"What is it, Helios?"

"Why is he here?"

Hyperion noticed that his son's eyes were glaring at someone peculiar. He immediately knew who 'he' was. Sitting on the opposite side of where Helios was sitting was a pale man with jet black hair tinted with yellow and purple. His eyes were eerie green and his attire consisted of a black and purple coat topped with a magenta pendant.

Hyperion sighed. "Lucifer is a member of the House of the Moon, Helios. He is a descendant of our ancestor's brother. Therefore, he deserves a seat in this room."

"Even after all he had done to steal the throne from you? After he and his brat of a blader humiliated us on that day?!" Helios said, every word having a hint of hatred within. Though not visible, Lucifer's heart was piling up with regret with each syllable of his sins being spat out by the spiteful prince.

"Now isn't the time to start a fight, Prince," Achilles stated. "If you can't stand him being here, then you're free to leave and let your father handle all of this."

"I'm not backing off if it involves Hikaru's safety."

"Stubborn." Selene blatantly commented, receiving an annoyed groan from her brother.

"Wait, what does your blader have to do with this?" Fafnir asked Helios.

"That's actually why we're here." Dragon said. "You see, we invited our bladers here."

"YOU WHAT?!" the rest of the spirits shouted in shock.

"Your Highness, forgive me for asking but...do you know what happened the last time humans roamed this domain of ours?" a woman with red hair and red armour questioned.

Hyperion sighed. "I am aware of that, Eir. But that was a long, long time ago. I figured that things would've changed by then. Besides, our bladers have been through a lot in their carriers. From betrayals to destructive losses, they deserve a break from all of that."

"So, you invited those kids here as a little vacation for them? To clear their minds of everything that's been happening in the blading world?" Fafnir questioned.

"Precisely. I figured it would go smoothly but it seems like that wouldn't be the case considering what happened a few days ago."

Hyperion went on to explain what happened during the bladers journey to his castle; how a werewolf devil almost killed them and how said devil claimed to be working under a more powerful evil.

"So, you're saying that there's some secret devil-run society that's plotting to take over this kingdom, and the first step that they are taking is killing some innocent human kids?" Lucifer attempted to summarise the situation.

Hyperion nodded in response.

"Well, it would make sense for them to target your bladers. Besides, our bond with our masters practically made us immortal." the winged red guardian ogre, Spriggan stated.

"And if that bond breaks, we are vulnerable to permanent death." Longinus added.

"How much danger are these devils going to pose us?" Fafnir asked.

"We're not so sure about that," Valkyrie answered. "They obviously have motives that they refuse to spill out. But judging by how Fenrir spoke about the 'surprise', I think their plan involves more than just waging war."

"What are you getting at, Brynhildr?" Eir asked her sister.

"They're planning something bigger. I can't say what that plan would be but it will probably be something that we wouldn't expect."

"Whatever they are planning, we must be ready! The safety of Aether and the boys are now in our hands." Hyperion said.

"Don't worry, Your Highness. Me and the Myrmidons are always ready for a fight!" Achilles assured with a proud grin. "I'll make sure to inform my father about this matter, and maybe the other tribes too."

"Me and my sisters are in this as well." Eir said. Brynhildr nodded in agreement.

"Same here!" Dragon said, representing the dragons.

"The underworld is ready to prove its loyalty to Aether!" Lucifer said confidently.

"Those devils will feel the wrath of the forest!" Spriggan declared.

Hyperion couldn't help but smile at all of the support that was given. He took a quick glance at his three children. They seem to notice their father's gaze and gave a confident smile, prepared to protect their precious kingdom. Hyperion smiled back in response.

The next day, Valt and his fellow bladers where invited by Hyperion to the castle's training arena. Guided by the guards, they made their way to the arena. The arena was located on the first floor of the castle, on the northern side.

The hallway leading to the arena was decorated with battle themed decor such as armour, swords, spears and things of the like. The guards opened the door for them. The arena was a massive area made of quartz and stone. On the floor was a massive motif of the sun, moon, stars and storm clouds. Seats line the right and left sides of the room.

"Woah, this place is huge!" Valt said.

"It's like we can fit three busses in here!" Drum added.

All of their partners were there, including Selene and Eos. However, there was someone missing.

"Umm...where's Achilles?" Aiga asked, noticing the absence of his buddy.

"Oh, Achilles isn't able to join us at the moment," Hyperion said. "He has returned to Phthia for some important matters."

"Phthia?" Hyuga questioned.

"The island of Phthia is the homeland of the Myrmidons, a tribe of warrior spirits. Achilles is one of them since his father is their leader." Helios explained.

"Wait...so...Achilles is not just a fig orchard keeper?" Hyuga asked, still confused.

"Well, his dad owns that land. Can't just let it go to waste if you're wealthy." Dragon said. "But enough of that, we didn't call you five here to talk about the Myrmidons."

"Then what are we here for?" Hikaru questioned.

"Isn't it obvious? We're here to entertain you guys with a battle!" Eos said in excitement.

"A battle? Heh, count us in!" Valt said.

"We've already decided on our opponents. Let's get started shall we?" Valkyrie said.

"Alright!" the boys exclaimed excitedly. But deep down, Aiga was a bit disappointed that his partner wasn't able to come.

🔸🔶🔸

And so the battle begun! The first battle was between Dragon and Eos. The two took their positions on the arena. A Celestial stood between them, acting as a referee.

"Forgive me if I act a bit rough, Princess. Because I'm not gonna hold back!" Dragon declared confidently.

"In that case, I won't hold back either!" Eos responded.

"Ready, Set!" the guard announced.

"3!" Dragon transformed his hand into golden claws.

"2!" Eos summoned a radiant gold and white bow in her hand.

"1!" Both of them struck a battle stance.

"Go...Shoot!"

The two spirits lunged at each other, ready to attack. Dragon attacked first, slashing his claws at the princess. Eos dodged the attack swiftly. When enough distance was made between the two, Eos proceeded to rapidly shoot three quick arrows at the dragon. Dragon easily avoided two of them. The third nearly hit his face but luckily, Dragon moved away in time to see it pass him. The arrow was only an inch from hitting him, before piercing through his long silver hair.

"Woah! You nearly got me there!" Dragon snickered at his near mishap to Eos.

"Well, I did say I wouldn't hold back, right?" Eos said back.

"Don't get cocky. This is just the warm up!" Dragon said as his claws glowed with colourful fire before dashing towards Eos.

Eos charged up her bow, the arrow glowing a bright yellow. She shot it at Dragon, but it was swiftly slapped away by him.

She shot another arrow,

And then another,

And then another,

And then another.

But all of them were shrugged off by Dragon as if they were just twigs. The rainbow spirit eventually reached Eos and was about to slash her but she jumped out of the way to the opposite side of the arena. While in the air, Eos prepared to shoot another arrow. This time, small magical circles formed around her. As she shot the arrow in her bow, a barrage of golden arrows emerged from the circles and rained down on Dragon.

Dragon summoned his wings that began to glow in the same manner as his claws.

"ROARING TEMPEST!" Dragon cried out as he flapped his wings, creating a strong gust of wind that blew away the arrows!

"Woah! What was that move?!" Drum exclaimed in shock and amazement. "I never knew a move like that existed! I wanna learn it!"

Eos was almost blown away by the wind but managed to stand her ground.

"Eos is really strong too!" Valt said, before turning to Hyperion. "Hyperion, what type of bey is Eos?"

"Oh, Eos resides within a stamina type bey." Hyperion answered. "That explains why she's able to keep on battling even when dealt with the heaviest of blows. The strong wind is one example."

Back to the arena, Eos made a shocking move. She put her bow away and only took the arrow.

"What the- she de-summoned her bow!" Aiga said in shock.

"Is she gonna fight with only that arrow?!" Hikaru questioned.

"No," Helios uttered, making the bladers turn towards him. "Eos specialises in more than just ranged combat."

In the arena, the arrow in the princess's hand started to glow. It seemed to grow in length. When the light faded, what was in her hand was no longer an arrow, but a spear! The bladers could not believe their eyes.

Eos, with her new weapon, rushed towards Dragon and attacked. A sharp claw and spear clashed against each other, creating sparks. The two continued to clash repeatedly, with Dragon growing tired with each attack. Eventually, he had no choice but to leap back as Eos' attacks were too much for him to handle.

Unfortunately for him, he had given Eos enough space to perform her special move.

Eos re-summoned her bow but this time it was much bigger. She gave the bladers quite the shock when she fitted her spear onto the bow's string and pulled it as if it was still an arrow. Four pairs of yellow wings appeared behind her.

"ILLUSION PIERCER!!!" Eos shouted as she released the giant arrow. It zoomed through the air as it headed towards Dragon. In his last effort, Dragon used his claws to attempt to block the arrow and push it away. The spear arrow continued to push forward, creating a shockwave between the two.

Eventually, the spear bursted through, pushing the winged spirit and launching him off the ground. Dragon was pushed into a wall in a blinding flash of light and powerful shockwave. The light subsided, revealing Dragon sitting weakly on the ground, beaten up and panting.

"Dragon is no longer able to battle. Princess Eos is the winner!" The Celestial announced, gesturing his hand towards Eos.

"Yahoo!" Eos cheered, jumping and raising her fist into the air.

"That was a wonderful performance, Eos!" Hyperion praised while clapping his hands.

"It's nice to see you grow stronger." Helios said.

"Keep it up, sister. You and your blader have a long way ahead." Selene added.

At all the praises, Eos chuckled. "It's nothing really," she then turned to Dragon. "I don't think I can compare myself to a beyblade of a legendary blader."

At this, Dragon chuckled and stood up. "Nothing, you say? You totally beat me good there! You're more than nothing!"

"But-" Before Eos could object, Valkyrie stepped in.

"Dragon's right. You have the potential! If you keep this up, I guarantee that you and your blader can be at the same level as the legends!" she said.

The princess seemed to turn bashful, scratching her head. "Thanks, Brynhildr." she said.

Valkyrie only chuckled in response, proud to see a junior bey spirit in the making.

"Dragon! Dragon!" the voice of Drum echoed. Everyone one turned their heads to see the blonde boy rush to his partner, face red from excitement.

"That move with your wings was seriously cool! Teach me, please!" he exclaimed.

Dragon looked shocked at this and sweat-dropped. "S-Sorry, Drum but uh...I think you need to learn it yourself."

"What?!" Drum said in disbelief. "But why?!"

"Yeah, don't you bey spirits know how your moves work?" Valt asked.

"Well...you see, we bey spirits don't really know how our beyblades work. Sure, we have 'special moves' but they are only possible because we inhabit a beyblade and we have a bond. We don't know how a chassis effects the weight of the beyblade or how energy layers prevent beyblades from bursting. That's all in the hands of the human master." Dragon explained.

"So what you're saying is, you don't know what your special moves look like as a beyblade?" Aiga said.

"That is correct." Hyperion confirmed. "When beyblades were first created, the ways in which they are modified for battle were taught to us spirits so that we may know how to get a better advantage in the stadium. But overtime, the system in which beyblades function change, from being solid tops to ones that can break apart into three pieces. These changes were so rapid and complicated that we couldn't keep up, and so we gave up learning about beyblade mechanics. We leave all of those to the bladers, while we wait for the next command for battle within our vessels."

"So that's how it is," Hikaru said. "Well, if you can come to our world in your physical forms, we can teach on the mechanics. It's not too late."

"Really? I look forward for that day."

Suddenly, the sound of a bell was heard. I guess at this point, the readers know what that means.

"Ah, yes. It's that foodie time again." Eos said.

"That bell's really precise when it comes to meals." Aiga commented.

"It has to be," Selene said. "Our rulers must do a lot of work to maintain Aether. Sometimes they could get carried away in their duties, which could cause them to forget their essential needs. So the bell system was implemented to make sure our kings and queens are well fed and rested."

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's get something to eat. Can't continue battling on an empty stomach!" Hyuga said.

The group agreed and made their way towards the dining room, taking a short break before the next battle.
