"Guys, this is so boring..." Remora complained while solving her maths homework. All three of us were in my room, solving our respective homework. "Remora is right. Let's go somewhere." Trevor added supporting Remora's statement. "Okay... lemme think," I responded rubbing my temple. "Hey!!! Why don't we go to a bookstore?!" I exclaimed. I could see Remora's pupil getting bigger, almost popping out. "Perfect!!!" she shrieked. "What will I do there?" Trevor questioned with a bored expression on his face. "Search for your Ms Perfect," Remora smirked making all of us laugh.

Remora and I dragged Trevor to my favourite bookshop. As we entered the shop, we were greeted by Mr Seymour. "Good Evening, Maureen," he smiled. "Good evening, Mr Seymour," I responded. "New friend?" he inquired gesturing at Remora. "Yeah, she is Remora," I answered. He then turned his gaze towards Trevor, "Trevor, where's your sister?" he asked. "Why do you care?" he snapped back. Silly boy, never knew how to behave. Trevor's words brought a frown to Mr Seymour's face. "Never mind, Mr Seymour, he is just being silly," I replied and glared at Trevor. He turned his face away from me. Sure, he was angry for forcefully dragging him into the store.

When I turned either side of mine, Remora was missing. I searched for her along with Trevor and found her sitting near the last rack with a book. Both of us rushed towards her. "Why did you go without telling us anything?" she was interrogated. "Chill, lass. I am not a kid. Well, I couldn't wait for your drama to end. You know what, this rack contains so many interesting books. I am so excited. It is sad, I cannot buy them all." she replied, making a sad face. "It is fine, this book store is more like a library to me." I chuckled. I sat next to Remora and Trevor took a seat on a chair kept in front of us.

I tried to concentrate on the book I was reading but there were those noises. Those strange noises were just not letting me do anything. This time they were louder and were getting even louder as each minute passed. As my eyes were glued on the door, Remora spoke up, "Is that something bothering you, Minny?" "Uh, no. Just a mere headache. Nothing to worry about." I smiled which convinced her. But Trevor wasn't convinced. He stared at me with doubtful eyes. "What?!" I asked. "You know you can't lie to me," he replied. "No, I am not ly- ahhhhhhhh, rat!!!!!!" I screamed. The little rat suddenly appeared from beneath the rack which scared the shit out of me. I jumped, making the whole rack fall.*THUD*

"Maureen!!! What did you do?" Remora gasped. "Are you okay?" Trevor questioned. "Yeah, I am fine," I answered while trying to collect the scattered book. I was afraid of what Mr Seymour would think of me. I was arranging the books on the chair when Trevor exclaimed "Hey, what's that? Seems like an underground basement or something," he stated while pointing at a square-shaped door on the floor, which was covered by the rack before. Now that the rack was no more, it was clearly exposed.

"Let's check it out," Remora advised. She rushed towards that small door, followed by Trevor and eventually by me. She opened the door to reveal a book. A very old book covered with spider webs and dirt. Remora took it out and cleaned away the dirt and webs with her hands. She opened the book but the pages were empty. They were yellow and crinkly. "Gee, what a waste!!! Nothing is written in this." Saying so, she again dropped it in the small pit and covered the door.

"Wait, I wanna hold it," I said and opened the door again. As my fingers touched its metallic cover, a bright yellow light flashed in front of us and the book heated up. It almost burnt my fingers. "Ahhhh!!!" I hissed in pain and took my palm back. "What is it?" Trevor inquired. "It's too hot!!!" I replied, blowing air through my fingers. He touched the book, but unlike me, he didn't take his hand back, rather held the book in his arms. "Look, I can hold this. It is not at all hot," he remarked leaving me baffled.

I tried to touch it again but this time it didn't hurt. I took the book from Trevor and opened it. To my surprise, the pages weren't empty anymore. They were filled with lots of writings and crazy pictures. "Hey, Remora, look. The pages are filled up now..." I reported and looked up to see Remora sinking in deep thoughts while Trevor was unquestionably confused.

I flipped through the first page. The texts had faded away but were readable. It read:-

There lies an immortal world,

beneath the land where mortals fight.

The dark will guide the way

till you reach the blinding light.....
