"TREVOR!!!" I yelled.

"Oh my god!!! Trevor is that you? What happened to you? I patted the back of the person but the body felt more like a female figure. "Maureen!! I am alright. Nothing happened to me," Trevor responded from the other direction. "If the person lying on that floor isn't Trevor, then who is it?" I thought to myself. I aimlessly moved my hands to feel the body. The person was surely a girl. She had long hair and a slim figure. "Hey, who are you? How did you get here?" I asked patting her back but she didn't respond. I rested backwards only to get stung by the sharp pages of books.

"There are books here!!!" I exclaimed and suddenly the room got lit. The lights were so bright that my eyes almost hurt. It took me some time to adjust to the excessive brightness. I rubbed my eyes to see Trevor in front of me. "Trevor!!!" I hugged him. "Hey, I am alright. Don't worry," he replied, embracing me. We held on to each other for quite some time until Trevor spoke up, " Maureen, doesn't that girl seem like Remora?" he whispered. I pulled myself back to see if that was true and it indeed was the truth. It was Remora.

"Remora!!! Get up!!!" I said shaking her back but nothing worked. Trevor turned her body, so she was lying on her back now. My knees felt weak as I felt her body was frozen and her lips were blue. Her pale skin had a hint of bluish touch to it. She wasn't responding to us at all. I didn't know how to react. I realized I was crying when my tears soaked my tights. Everything was so surreal. My throat parched up and my chest felt heavy. Something inside was stabbing me constantly. It felt as if someone was scratching the walls of my heart. I wiped away the tears, looked at my surroundings, and grasped that we were in the book store. The last rack was in front of us, the strange door stood beside us.

"Trevor, I think this is the right time," I stated in a quavering voice. He looked at me with confused red eyes. "Right time for what?" he asked. "To find out what is happening with us," I answered, my eyes fixed on him. "No, it's not," he said. "Trevor, it is now or never," I declared and stood up. "What about Remora? And where's the book?" he questioned. "Trevor, Remora is gone," I said, "And I don't need the book. We will find it out on our own, "I further added. "How could you do this to her? We can't leave her like this," he complained in dismay. "Your cries and complaints won't bring her back. We have to avenge her. Do you understand? Now follow me. No questions," I stated as I started to walk towards the door.

"Where are you going?" he grabbed my wrist as he inquired. "I said no questions, Trevor. Now, I don't know any other languages to explain this simple thing to you," I remarked stubbornly. There wasn't any more response from him. He loosened his grip on my wrist and I assumed that he was with me.

I walked towards the door and stood in front of it. My sneakers were just an inch away from it. I took a deep breath and twisted the knob. I got inside it and was followed by Trevor. I was quite sure that I was right. The door got closed automatically. The little openings by the side of the door got sealed and we were engulfed by darkness.

"The riddle said 'Get to the other side of the wood.' This is it, "I stated. "And why do you think you are right?" Trevor questioned. "Because the door is made up of wood and I always hear weird noises coming from the other side of the door. And woods always don't mean forests, maybe the person who formed the riddle used 'wood' in its literal meaning," I answered. "Or the forest of darkness," Trevor added. "Smart. It can be," I said.

We were totally blind. We held each other's hands and patted the walls to find a way through the dark. "Maureen, I guess you have powers. Why don't you use it? It would be easy for us then," Trevor remarked. Without questioning anything, I closed my eyes to focus. I let all my energy accumulate in both of my palms and when I opened my eyes, I was holding a ball of fire. It really helped. I could see Trevor smiling but soon the smile faded away. Must be because we lost one of our closest friends. He tried so hard to hide his tears but the tears just refused to do so. The tiny drops rolled down his cheeks and he wiped them quickly.

I diverted my mind away from Remora but I really felt bad. "What if she died because of me? What if she didn't deserve it? What if I am her murderer? What if I am responsible for all this? What if I lost Trevor too?!!" I thought to myself and shrugged. I pushed away those disturbing questions and started examining the place.

The room seemed disappointingly normal. It had four walls, a ceiling and a floor. We continued our mission. And surprisingly, we were able to touch only three walls. The more we went towards the fourth wall, the farther it got. After some time, to our relief, the wall didn't move anymore. It stood still but...
