Chapter 5

---Bidziil's POV---

I watched Thorn from a distance while Karma eyed him curiously from her position against Lyra. My eyes slid to the kid as my hellhound rubbed her head against her stomach, almost pushing the kid to the side in her attempt to get some attention. A low sound formed in the back of my throat, making her look up at me with her fiery red eyes before she relented.

Meanwhile Thorn was looking at the small babe wedged between the paws of Cain's hellhound. He was a good friend of mine, who had asked me to breed Karma and Kieran together, since he wanted another pup. Though they were both fierce predators known throughout the world, they had incredible maternal instincts.

So getting the babe from between Kieran's protective paws would be a rather impossible and possibly dangerous task because with hellhounds, both the males and females cared for their offspring. Karma might be the more dangerous one but judging on pure muscle power, Kieran could pack quite a punch, or rather bite.

Thorn obviously didn't know all this as he tilted his head slightly, as if calculating the chances of getting the baby out unscathed. A slow smiled slipped on my lips as he made his way over Kieran, who tilted his massive black head towards Thorn and huffed, exhaling a small strand of smoke.

It was a sign to be cautious and my eyes flashed back at Thorn, before I said, "Easy there. Kieran's protecting the babe and he might think of you as a threat." Thorn stopped and turned his head, his black eyes narrowing at me while I smiled.

He reminded me very much of a stray cat you'd come across on the street. A smirk spread out on my lips while I watched Thorn closely before nodding to myself. Yes, Thorn definitely had the same attitude as a feline, judging by the way he stalked closer to Kieran, even after I warned him.

Ashkii stepped up behind me and twirled a piece of his hair between his fingers, staring at the black strands before he looked at Thorn and shook his head. "I thought I was rocking black, but then I saw him..." his muttering became too silent before he closed his eyes.

I watched as the black at his skull was exchanged for blonde, rushing down until my brother opened his eyes again, checking the color. "This is better, right?" he asked, his voice slightly insecure before he grinned as I nodded, beaming happily towards me before he looked back at the show in front of us.

Both of us watched and stared in awe as Thorn simply stepped up towards Kieran, who by now was growling warningly with an open mouth, revealing the smoldering back of his throat. He couldn't breath fire like dragons and drakes could but if he bit down, you were likely to have burns next to your puncture wounds.

When a particular sharp snarl erupted from Kieran's chest, his tail swishing through the air while his fur started to bristle, I pushed myself off the wall and walked to them both, in the intent to stop Thorn from getting mauled.

Instead, I was rather surprised when Thorn reached out for the baby, gaining a low snarl from Kieran as he opened his jaws to bite down. Thorn simply looked at the hellhound and then, something weird happened.

A low thump whooshed through the air before we all heard whispers seemingly coming from nowhere. I tried to understand what they were saying, but even with me being a Precursor, I had a hard time to understand the soft voices.

It had an odd effect on Kieran though; the hound instantly calmed down and flattened his ears, recognizing Thorn as his superior before he nudged the babe awake with his nose.

"Hey buddy. Noah..." Thorn whispered as the baby whimpered, fluttering with his eyes before he was safely in Thorn's hands. He turned around and seemed rather shocked that I was standing behind him but both of us were rather distracted with the blue light slowly appearing in between us.

It acted and looked like a shadow, wisps of deep-blue fluttering through the air, showing glimpses of the core of hellish blue light. The whispers came from this entity, growing more clearly to see before I heard Ashkii groan as he stepped back.

"I don't like those things, the first one I saw attacked me." He paused for a moment, observing the entity closely before moving towards us. "This one seems friendly though...Is this your doing?" He asked, turning his head curiously towards Thorn.

A tendril of the blue light curled down towards Noah's face, gently petting his cheek before we heard a low murmur coming from the entity. My brows shot up, as I realized that I had understood what the entity had said, and that it had spoken in a very, very old language.

"Safe....peace...."the tendril of blue smoke disappeared as Thorn frowned down at the child in his arms before I smirked. "Okay...." I said slowly, stressing the fact that I felt slightly impressed, "I think its best to find out what your abilities are. All of them." I added, glancing behind Ashkii as the other, black entity appeared and rushed past him before spinning around the blue, which caused a flutter in the lights before they both vanished.

Thorn's eyes flashed towards me when I took another step forwards, while he instantly backed up, glaring at me as he did so. I chuckled lowly in my throat, shaking my head slightly as I felt him tread carefully around me, even after me saving him on earth.

Yes, truly like a feline... or a little kitten...

Thorn's eyes narrowed while Ashkii chuckled behind me before I focused again on the bristling young man in front of me. "Excuse me? Did you just refer to me as a kitten?" he demanded while Lyra skipped closer to him, followed by a quieter Blake, who was watching everyone closely.

"Bidziil...you spoke your mind out loud." Ashkii snickered behind me while Thorn looked like a mad spitting kitten, ready to claw at me. The image it conjured up made me chuckle slightly, yet again.

"I did, but I didn't mean anything bad with it. Now, please, answer my brother's question...those entities, is this a recent event or..." I trailed off when Thorn shook his head slightly, making the two kids look up at him while little Noah slept soundly on his arm.

"No, they just weren't visible for the others. I used them to guide me to safety and they spotted danger before I did." I nodded once, thinking for a moment before I hummed, rubbing my thumb and index finger against my chin before glancing at the point where the entities had disappeared.

Ashkii twitched before looking behind him. "Oh boy, Mom's coming home. You best prepare them; she hasn't seen a human in years, let alone small kids." He smiled warmly at Lyra and Blake, and I knew he was exited, since mom's mother hen instincts would be aimed at Lyra and Blake, and not at Ashkii....well, not all the time.

I don't think mom was going to let him out of her sights so swiftly.

---Thorn's POV---

My eyes were still narrowed at a chuckling Bidziil, who was leaning against the wall as he overlooked the room. His eyes were gleaming brilliantly in the faded light, which made me realize soon where exactly I was. Or rather, where I wasn't.

Earth doesn't have electricity anymore...not unless you have claws or fangs.

Looking away from the man a few steps behind me, I took the time to look at the room I was in whilst pulling Noah soothingly closer to my body. My instincts and nerves were on edge, wary of any movement in or around the room as I let my eyes take in every bit of information.

It looked like we were in a rather large room filled with comfortable looking seats and couches on one side and a really expensive looking TV mounted against the wall, flanked by two enormous bookcases on the other side of the wall. When I took a step away from Bidziil and felt only warmth under my feet, I looked down and smiled as I noticed the warmed tiled floor underneath my still bare feet.

Ashkii decided to ignore us for the moment and walked up to the couch, plopping down before he picked a remote up. Instantly a soft tune filled the room, making me freeze along with the kids as we listened carefully.

"What? Not to your liking?" when we didn't react, Ashkii laughed to himself before muttering, "You guys look like you've never heard music before. Talk about living under a rock." I caught movement behind Ashkii as someone else entered the room but I didn't remove my eyes from the boy.

Was he even serious right now? Did he really think we've had an easy life? I could sense the disturbance Ashkii's meaningless mutter caused in Blake and Lyra, who had always longed for a normal, human life.

"We were too busy running away from vampires that wanted to drain us, werewolves who wanted to claim their mates and other creatures that wanted our heads on a platter. I've never had the luxury of electricity, let alone having a moment of peace to listen to music," I deadpanned before rubbing a hand through Lyra's soft hair as she hugged me tightly and closer her eyes, resting her head against my stomach.

"The only home I knew was the darkness of the forest or the relative safety of a cave deep underground. Excuse me for 'living under a rock'." I finished coldly before breathing out sharply when I felt myself grow angry.

Ashkii at least had the decency to look ashamed of himself before Lyra successfully drew away my attention, stating that she was cold. With a soft sigh, I moved Noah in her arms before swiftly removing my sweater and accepted Noah back, watching as she pulled the sweater on and smiled warmly.

"Better?" I asked, feeling the faintest smile slip over my lips as she nodded, the size of my sweater seemingly making her look like a dwarf. I heard a soft squeal before a woman's voice gushed, "Oh, just look at you, you're so adorably cute!"

I looked up and instinctively pulled Lyra and Blake behind me as the woman rushed forwards, halting instantly at my reaction. She seemed to understand it was a habit hard to ignore and stayed on a respectable distance, unlike a certain person.

Said person was standing behind me, breathing in my neck as I felt the muscles of his chest flex and relax with each breath he took. The sensation was oddly distracting but I didn't trust them enough to explore these feelings.

A shiver ran over my spine, which was quickly followed by a finger lazily chasing behind it. I jolted away from the touch to glare at Bidziil, who simply smirked teasingly down at me before looking at the new person.

"Mom, I think its best I take my leave and leave you and my brother to talk." Ashkii made a noise of disagreement and fright before Bidziil added, "I'm taking these three to my own realm to watch over them, closely." He added in a soft purr, looking down at me again while all I wanted to do was slap that annoying smirk of his face.

What did he think I was, a pet or something? Before I had time to protest, my surroundings looked like they melted into a blur of colors and flashes before coming to a halt in a totally different room.

The hellhounds let out a noise of happiness as they bounded off through the hallway, their claws clicking on the hard wooden floors. I was still on edge though, being in the presence of a man that seemingly lived to tease and tempt every shred of logic thought out of my mind.

I mean, me and the kids had just been teleported out of some unknown realm into another unknown realm and instead of looking for any escape routes, I was too busy eying the man who brought me here.

Bidziil had relaxed as soon as the surroundings stopped spinning and stretched out, showing me a peak of sharply defined abs before he shrugged his shirt off. Sad to say, my brain all stopped functioning properly at that as my eyes roamed over the revealed planes of skin, muscle and tattoos following the natural curves and lines of his body.

A clearing of the throat made me look up at the smirk I had a love/hate relationship with. I hated to know how much a stranger could affect me with a simple smirk, because I absolutely loved the way it enhanced Bidziil's features and made his eyes stand out.

Those eyes were now twinkling with mischief and appreciation before he hummed and walked out of the room. Blake and Laura both looked at me before looking at Bidziil's retreating back.

"Hey, Alduin! I've brought some guests home." I didn't hear a response but I did hear Bidziil's laughter as clear as day as he added, "Three possible supernatural beings, though one does remind me more of a kitten."

At that, my head snapped up in slight irritation before I gave Noah to Blake, who was smirking widely before I stopped after Bidziil, planning to tell him what he could do with his little pet name. Not that I didn't like it, because the way his voice purred around the nickname was causing me to shiver, but I wasn't a weak and helpless creature!

The second I walked through the doorway, my anger left as snow in the sun and I gulped down when I noticed I hadn't stepped in another room but a lounge room that was simply outdoors, protected by a high glass ceiling. Beyond that was a vast expanse of rolling lands and mountaintops.

I however, had more interest in Alduin and stared up at the scaled chest of an enormous dragon. Alduin's reaction o my appearance was instantaneously, as he pushed himself up from his relaxed position on the grass and moved faster than I'd imagined possible for something of his size.

"How...curious..." The deep timbre of his voice rumbled through my body as he stretched his neck before placing one clawed wing closer to me, leaning forwards as he did. I felt the warmth of his breath rush past me before his head was hovering in front of me.

"I've never seen one the likes of you before." He muttered, tilting his head to the side slightly before he sniffed. "Human scents swirl around you, yet, next to nothing is in your blood. But there are, other things..."

Bidziil laughed at my shocked expression but soon stared at me in shock when I had picked up a cup and threw it at his head, missing him on purpose as a warning. Maybe he'd stop laughing at me.

The ground shook under Alduin's laughter, his slitted eye glancing at the doorway, where I knew the kids probably were scrambling away from. "Feisty one too. Ah, I like him Bidziil. Maybe he'll be able to stop your head from growing to large to fit through the door."

I tilted an eyebrow before pointing at the glass ceiling and otherwise open room. "Maybe that's why he removed the walls of this place." I stated dryly, earning an amused snort from Alduin and a playful glare from Bidziil before Alduin leaned his head closer, eyes flickering to my chest as my heart protested against the presence of such a large predator so close.

"You and I will become great friends, fierce one. Just you watch." Alduin pulled away and took a few steps back, eying me closely before his lips curled up in amusement. "He does act like a feline, though I'd hardly call him a kitten. Remember that cats have claws Bidziil."

With that, the dragon spread his wings and with a rush of wind blowing throughout the house, he was gone, a mere fleck in the sky. I gaped after him before looking at Bidziil and observed the man closely as a thought popped in.

Why was he the only one that I had met for the very first time, and yet, felt absolutely safe with during every passing second? But more importantly, what happened when I was out?

I looked down at my body and sighed silently, feeling nothing out of the usual, though....What Alduin said worried me, as he mentioned very little of being a human lingered in my blood.

Had the serum completely changed me or wasn't I even close to human to begin with?
