Chapter 12

---Thorn's POV---

I hadn't exactly expected my dad to turn so overprotective; as soon as Ye'iitsoh had ran after Blake whilst muttering that he'd teach the pup some manners, dad grabbed Bidziil by the wrist and told him that they needed to talk.

Now I was sitting here, twiddling my thumbs as I wondered where everybody was and what was I going to do until they got back. I suppose I could explore this house but...I didn't want to bump into one of those supernatural creatures and freak out.

"Ugh." I groaned in annoyance while rubbing through my hair, feeling stressed and on edge. Simply being back in this realm was making me feel tense, like I had to constantly look back over my shoulder. Even now, being in a room on my own, I had the feeling of being watched.

With an annoyed huff, I stood up and made my way to the garden outside. As soon as I stepped out, I felt a bit calmer. The Fae had already healed several of the trees and I was amazed to see so many colors and different leafs.

My feet moved slowly while my eyes strayed from one tree to another. A massive oak tree in the center of the yard dwarfed slender birches with their white barks, as if it was sheltering the rest of the plants with its massive branches and green leafs which rustling in the wind.

The fresh scent of watered plants and moist soil wafted up, soothing my tense muscles even more before I brushed my hand over the rough exterior of the oak tree. Somehow, I was aware of the soothing energy of the tree, the slow pulse of life humming softly under the palm of my hand.

A hushed whisper echoed through my mind, nudging me to open my eyes and turn around. Familiar blue eyes blinked curiously at me as the auburn haired Fae observed me with a light smile pulling at the corner of his mouth.

"Curious little thing, aren't you?" His voice lilted while he walked around me slowly, his bare feet silent on the mossy forest floor. I watched with hesitant curiosity, as the moss seemed delighted by the Fae's presence, little flowers sprouting in the male's wake before he paused beside me.

"You protect mortals while you're the exact opposite, have powers that I've never seen in any creature of this world and your ability to actually feel compassion for the plants and wildlife stuns me." Lorain whispered as he brushed a finger over the bark, almost like a lover would touch his loved one.

The tree seemed to shiver under the small caress before I felt something fall onto my head with a sharp thwack. "Ow!" My hand flew up while Lorain let out an amused chuckle before I pulled my hand back, staring at the acorn in my hands. It was still growing, even as it had fallen of the tree, leaves uncurling and the nut changing from a brilliant green in a warm brown.

Lorain's eyes flashed with a hint of mischief before he patted the tree softly and stepped away. I followed the Fae, knowing intuitively that I could trust the man without a doubt. Some of his brethren however...

"Don't worry about the rest of my kin; our race might be fickle but right now, they're more concerned on healing the wildlife than harming you." The redhead said with a wave of his hand, gesturing to several others who were all busy with the growing forest around us.

"Huh..." I hummed distractedly, smiling as I spotted a few butterflies fluttering around the trees. I've never seen these animals before and was surprised that they didn't seem afraid at all, in fact, I had to cough and wave my hand in front of my face when a pale yellow flew right in my face and settled on my nose.

What the? I'm not a flower!

Lorain laughed brightly, shaking his fiery hair before he gently encouraged the insect to crawl on his finger and fly off with a gentle blow of his breath. "My apologies, they're curious little things."

"No kidding." I muttered, flicking my nose slightly before realizing that we were being watched and this time, my gut was telling me to defend myself. So as soon as a figure lurched out of the woods and aimed straight for me, I let myself fall down whilst throwing my arms I the blur's direction.

Just as the vampire grinned, satisfied that it would get me, a medium sized boulder groaned as it flew through the air and collided against the man. He flew out of sight and hit the ground with a distant thud. Lorain seemed stunned by my performance, especially when I slowly placed my hands by my side and concentrated on calling the entities.

Unearthly voices shrieked in anger while I took a step back, smiling to myself as black and blue swirled through the air and circled the raging man. He snarled and bared his fangs, but every time he tried to move away, the entities were right there, cutting off his exit and shrieking angrily.

"Release me!" His claws slashed at the entities but slid right through the clouds of smoke, only succeeding in pissing them off. Seconds later he yelped and I heard Lorain step closer, tilting his head curiously as the vampire dangled against a tree, kicking with his legs furiously.

"Yours?" Lorain asked curiously as one of the entities swirled down towards us, a smoky tentacle reaching out gingerly as the Fae held his hand out. As skin and smoke connected, Lorain seemed to shiver slightly while the entity turned from its midnight blue to a neon bright color and then it zipped away with a happy cry.

"I don't think they belong to anyone but themselves." I replied as I watched it swirl around while both of us ignored the screeching vampire up above. That was, until a bright flash of light illuminated the forest floor.

Lorain made a small noise of disgust in the back of his throat before he clicked his tongue and the smoldering soil and healed it with a wave of his hand. "Don't burn the woods down before we have time to heal it, Precursor." He sighed tiredly as he rested his shoulder against the tree, eying Bidziil pointedly.

"Its seems that weeds are only exterminated by means of fire." Bidziil sneered as he glared up at the vampire, keeping himself between the cursing man and myself, breaking its line of sight. Bidziil seemed tense for a bit, but the same couldn't be said for the vampire when there was an ominous rush in the air.

When I looked over my shoulder, I realized exactly why the vampire was paling considerably and became a stuttering mess. It also opened my eyes as to why my father was Death in the flesh.

Golden eyes flashing sharply in the midst of black eyes, which seemed to pierce straight through the vampire's soul, his clothes fluttering slowly in the breeze and his expression as cold as stone.

The atmosphere was thick and tense, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up as a low, unearthly hum started up, ending in a plaintive moan before my father's eyes flashed sharply towards my entities. Instantly, they released the man and disappeared in a puff of smoke.

Landing with a thud, the man instantly scrambled on his feet but didn't dare to run away; it seems dad had a serious reputation and demanded instant submission, especially with this aura. Bidziil glanced at me and smiled before winking cockily when I shot him a worried look.

Well, he doesn't seem intimidated at all.

The vampire on the other hand was shaking all over, drawing my attention again as I unconsciously drew closer, reaching out with my mind only to stagger back and land on my bum when a rush of thoughts, emotions and memories slammed into me like a truck.

Visions on how he hunted humans, how he prided himself on draining them from every blood of blood, even if they were mixed offspring. Cries and desperate pleas rang through my head and were forcing me to slap my hands over my ears in an attempt to stop them.

Blood. Blood and a deep hatred for humans was the cause of thousands of lives, simply drained, tortured or bled to death. Because this vampire found humans inferior, he didn't even think about what they had contributed to the planets' near extinction, no. He simply hated them because they were different.

"Thorn? Thorn! Snap out of it!" Bidziil's hand cupped my cheek, forcing me to look up at him and not at that filthy abomination, that murderer that had snuck away after we laughed at him, only to search for an innocent family with kids and kill them in the most horrible way imaginable.

"This thing doesn't deserve a second chance, he belongs in Tartarus, the deepest circles of Hell or whatever he believes in." I spat, feeling my stomach rise up at the gruesome memories of how he ripped into the mother of two, killing her and her unborn child slowly and violently.

My dad hadn't reacted like Bidziil, rushing forwards to help me on my feet and rubbing soothingly over my back. He simply stared at the vampire in disgust, flinching at the exact time I did at another innocent life spilled at the hands of this monster.

"Good judgment call son." A deep voice resonated through my mind before I smiled up at my father. I don't know what came over me as I spat those words out but it felt right to do so. As if it was meant to be.

"N-No. No!" The vampire screeched out mortified before he ran away from us, gaining a few exclamations from both Bidziil and Lorain. As they moved to go after the man, Father simply waved his hand through the air followed by a rather unsettling scene.

The earth seemed to crack and split, rushing towards the fleeing man until it was a few feet away from him. The soil erupted and released several entities; these were clouds of black with a red core and instantly forced me to step back. I could sense these things were vile, evil entities that obeyed only because they were summoned to collect a soul.

"Very observant Thorn. These entities are remnants of demons and will do whatever is necessary to reclaim a foothold in the living realms. Now they can't do anything else but obey me."

The spirits rushed at the screaming man, entangling him with their smoky tendrils before they proceeded to drag him to the gaping crack in the earth. He kicked and snarled, yanking one arm free only to have several more tendrils latch on and yank him back with such a force that he lost his footing and fell on the floor.

With one last cry, the entities rushed the man and disappeared into the abyss, the earth shaking softly before it churned and moved on the spot. When it stopped moving, its surface was untouched, a butterfly fluttering towards a single flower where the vampire had disappeared.

"Well, it seems that Hades has a new guest. I'm sure he'll make quick work of the vampire." Father spoke, breaking the tense silence in the air as he walked forwards and patted me on the shoulder. "You and I need to talk but I think that your lover here," He said with a flicker in his eyes, "Needs to speak to you in private."

---Blake's POV---

I sighed deeply and rolled my eyes to glance at Ye'iitsoh out of the corner of my eyes. After he had carried us both up to his office, he had ordered us to lay down and not move a muscle. Now he was busy filling in some papers, the only sound in the office the rustling of paper against paper, the occasional soft groan of the chair when Ye'iitsoh shuffled his weight or Cole huffing out a yawn before he laid his head back down.

"This is boring!" I thought to myself, licking my nose and hearing Cole snort beside me, those golden eyes settling on me with something akin to amusement. I knew he was bored too but he was patiently waiting for me to do as told.

According to Ye'iitsoh, Cole had been called over to be the Alpha of my small pack. Cole had expected me to roll over and submit as soon as he had scruffed me in the kitchen. I huffed slightly and tilted my nose in the air, hearing Cole's muffled bark of laughter at my prissy mood.

Hey, nobody told me I had to roll over, submit and listen to every command from some guy I've never seen before. And Cole was barely older than me, so why should I listen to him in the first place? If only I could tell him were he could shove his idea of him being the boss...

Judging by the smug smirk on the golden wolf's lips, Cole could imagine what I was thinking about. I sneered at him, growling lowly and letting my fur bristle up in anger. "Blake..." Ye'iitsoh said with a clearing of his throat, looking pointedly at me over the edge of his horned glasses.

My ears instantly flattened as I whimpered, grumbling under my breath when I noticed Cole preening beside me. "But that smug jerk was laughing at meeeeee." I whined out, surprised when Ye'iitsoh sighed and muttered, "I don't care if he was laughing with you, you need to accept his rule as Alpha, not mine. I don't have time to run a pack."

He heard me? My ears pricked up as I tilted my head slightly before his words sank through. He was my Alpha? So I didn't need to accept idiot Mcjerkface next to me as my Alpha since I already had one. I growled happily and wagged my tail, much to Cole's surprise and Ye'iitsoh's annoyance.

"You are going to accept him as Alpha and be glad he can't hear you yet. That comment would've earned you a bite or two." Cole's head snapped up from his paws, staring intensely at the man working at the desk and probably silently asking what we were talking about.

"No Cole, I'm not going to accept being an Alpha just so you can hear what Blake is thinking right now." Cole narrowed his eyes with a growl but flattened his ears when Ye'iitsoh looked up at him. "What? No! I don't care that you'll take it over as soon as he submits-"

I snarled at that and barked my disagreement out loud, earning a pair of frustrated looks my way before Cole barked loudly, giving Ye'iitsoh a pointed glare. Eventually the man took the glasses from his nose and rubbed his eyes tiredly.

"You know what? Fuck this." He growled in annoyance and then I felt a strange surge of power going through my head, followed by a growl from Cole as he jumped me. "What the- Get off you jerk!"

"No! And stop calling me names pup."

My eyes widened at the reply in my head before I narrowed them again. Ye'iitsoh must have accepted him in the pack too...hey, but didn't that mean I was ranked above Cole? The golden wolf snarled and snapped his teeth beside my face, though his eyes sparkled with amusement.

"No. I'll be the Alpha as soon as you submit to me." I snorted at the ridiculous thought and nipped at Cole's paws. If he still believed I would submit to him, he really was an idiot. That earned me a low growl and a nip at my tail.

"I'm not an idiot." He growled in warning while I stood up and shook my fur out. I snorted at that and wagged my tail. "Sure you aren't. That's why Ye'iitsoh had to become Alpha over us two." I replied as I walked around the room. When were we going to get out of here? I was bored out of my mind.

"You're such a pup." Cole laughed, his nails clicking over the floor as he walked towards the door and waited patiently. "I'm not a pup, idiot." I replied with a growl, shoving him to the side.

"Pup." He smiled, pushing me back and starting a contest of trying to pin the other down.

"Jerk."

"Pea brain."

"Dog!"

Cole snarled at the insult and I wagged my tail with a chuckle before I froze, realizing that a certain someone was looming over me. Ah man. I didn't realize we had been barking and whining at each other during out mock fight and mental cussing, disturbing Ye'iitsoh's concentration and not to mention, messing his office up quite badly.

In a second, I was pulled off of Cole, scruffed and pushed on the floor, having a whimpering Cole beside me before I felt something being pulled over my muzzle. I tried to avoid Ye'iitsoh's hands but failed, feeling him tie the muzzle at the back of my head before he did the same to Cole.

"Since you guys need to get along and accept the other's presence..." Ye'iitsoh started, placing his palms against each other before pulling them apart, revealing a rope and two collars.

Ah man! No! I'm not a dog, I didn't mean that, I was just joking!

He either didn't hear me or chose to ignore me because when we walked down the stairs to the living room, I was muzzled, collared and tied to an equally grumbling Cole. Each time we wanted to walk one way, we had to let the other now or yank the other to wherever we wanted to go.

Ye'iitsoh was talking to his brother, pulling his face in a rather smug smile when Bidziil asked why the hell we were tied to each other. Cole grumbled beside me and curled his lips up but we couldn't bite or anything.

"Just accept me as an Alpha already!" He snapped to my mind, making me growl softly as I sat down, forcing him to drag me along. "Its not my fault Ye'iitsoh thought it was a good idea to become my Alpha first and then added you to the pack when he didn't want to be an Alpha. Its his fault we're muzzled and tied together too."

Cole rolled his eyes but I could tell he wasn't feeling that angry anymore. At least, not with me. His eyes were now fixed on the laughing Ye'iitsoh's back. I glanced back and forth before smiling slightly, knowing that the muscular man was distracted with his conversation.

"Wanna get him back?"

The golden wolf glanced at me and frowned for a moment before grinning widely, lolling his tongue out. I smiled and showed him what I was thinking about before we both slowly walked towards Ye'iitsoh, stopping on either side of him. Cole walked with me so we were in front of Ye'iitsoh, one of us on the left, the other on the right.

"Yes?" He asked slowly, smiling when Bidziil chuckled at a shared joke. I tilted my head pleadingly and whimpered. "Can you get these muzzles off? Its humiliating." I whined, already knowing his answer before he shook his head.

"No, you guys deserve the punishment since you don't want to work together at all. Only when you do that, I'll lift this punishment and not a second sooner." He said, glancing at me with those grey eyes before he pointed over to the couches behind him. I huffed and walked around him while Cole followed on the other side, stopping a step behind Ye'iitsoh.

"Now?" He asked mischievously, making Ye'iitsoh aware that he missed a conversation between us. Just as he was going to turn around, I barked, "Now!" And ran forwards with Cole by my side.  The rope that Ye'iitsoh used to tie us together snatched around his ankles and pulled the big guy off of his feet, but we didn't hang around to accept another punishment.

Darting through the corridors, we howled with laughter and made our way outside. "Did you see the look on his face?" I howled, jumping to the side when a door was opened in front of us. We darted past the stunned Fae and out to the woods, enjoying the cool air brushing through our fur.

"Yeah, he was so surprised and stunned that we pulled that on him. We'll get punished though." Cole added while I shrugged slightly. "Meh, It'll be worth it." I replied as we came to a halt in the woods, slowly walking side by side. Honestly, I quite liked the way this pack was functioning. Pushing Ye'iitsoh's buttons was amusing.
