I worked on my breathing as he approached us. Beside me Calvin balled his hands to fists, and his whole body tensed. It was very obvious he wasn't fond of Devon.

Devon had on an all black outfit that hugged his body at all the right places, and hid his face perfectly. It made me wonder how Calvin was able to recognize him, because I wouldn't have if he hadn't drawn my attention to Devon .
Devon looked a lot more muscular than before, and it suited him but as he reached us I noticed he looked like hell.

My heart constricted. Was he okay ?

The dark circles under his eyes were larger now, he looked pale, sick, unkept, my hands itched to touch him. Even when I knew that there was something he was hiding, and it might something to do with me, I still cared about him. I was officially gone !

"I can't believe you're still here", Calvin said, hate laced in his words.

The side of Devon's mouth tilted upwards in a smirk.
"It's really surprising isn't it ? Especially when you tried your best to get me kicked out ".

Calvin took an intimidating step towards Devon, but it didn't affect him. Infact, he looked bored.

"You are not one of us Demon. I don't care if you're half hunter, as long as vampire blood runs through your veins you can never be one of us ", he spat.

Devon's smirk got wider ,"Is that why you killed her ?".

That piqued my interest especially when Calvin's face went pale. Devon looked pleased at his reaction.

"Because she was half vampire ? Is that why you killed Octavia ?".

"You and I know that's not it. So keep her name out of your mouth, or else ... ", He said through gritted teeth.

Devon chuckled, "I didn't come here to get into a fight with you. The seer asked me to inform you of the meeting. But even if that were to happen, I'm sure you already know I'd win ".

Calvin's fists were noticably white now because of how hard he was clentching them, but he didn't say a word against what Devon said.
He knew Devon would win if they got into a fight.

Devon's eyes suddenly moved to mine, and held. Then scanned my face, and met my eyes again. Did he recognise me ?
I held my breath. Stay calm Kira.

He turned back to Calvin ,"Welcome back hunter ", he smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes, "Enjoy your stay ".

He walked past us, his arm brushed against mine as he moved, and I shivered. I turned around quickly, I don't know why, but he was already gone. He must have teleported.
I just stared at nothing till Calvin cleared his throat beside me.

I faced him. His expression was hard as his eyes searched mine.

"Why are you staring at me like that ?", I asked rubbing my arm. Why did I suddenly feel cold ?

"Can we keep going ?", I asked. He must have come out of whatever trance he was in because he started walking. I joined him.

"Who exactly do you want to see ?", He asked, after a while.

"Her name's Rya", was all I provided.

I could see he wanted to ask a question, but he stopped himself. One thing I had noticed about Calvin was he didn't like to dig. It worked in my favor.

"I know her, and believe me you won't find her ".

I stopped walking, and faced him.

"What ?".

"No one can find Rya. Even if she's in safe land right now, you won't find her ", he explained.

That didn't make sense to me.

He continued, " Her powers are very different. No one knows what she is. The seer has refused to tell anyone for years now, but she always asks us to keep an eye on her. She says she's dangerous. I don't understand why she lets her into safe land if she says she's dangerous. The whole thing is just confusing ".

"But Rya can't be tracked. No matter how hard we tried, we couldn't find her when we searched . I can't explain it, but she finds you not the other way ".

I pondered over his words.

"Do you want to head back ?", He asked.

My shoulders slumped, I felt weak. "Yes ".

We turned around, walked in silence for a while before I broke it.

"You say you rescue hunters and humans from the outside, and bring them here".

He nodded.

"Then how come you haven't been here for over a year ? ".

He chuckled.

I originally wanted to ask him why he hated Devon so much. I mean every being had a natural hatred towards demons, but I knew there was something deeper, there was a strong reason behind Calvin's hatred, and I wondered what. But again, I was in no position to ask him that.

"My team rescues, another team brings them back. It's dangerous if we're all in the same place ", he clarified .

"Oh ", I paused, "It must be very dangerous outside the walls of safe land ".

He shrugged, "We cope".

We kept quiet after that, till he broke it.

"I don't even know your name ", he said.

I responded without looking at him. "It's Kira ".

"That's a lovely name ".

Kira ... The name suits you

Why was everything reminding me of him ?

I noticed Calvin was staring at me the same way he had before.

"Why do you keep staring at me like that ?", I asked .

He shrugged, "I'm just trying to figure out something ".

"Figure out what ?".

His eyes held mine, " The illusion almost faltered when you saw the demon. At first, I thought you were scared but the way you were looking at him proved me wrong ".

"How was I looking at him ?", I asked, genuinely curious.

"Like you care deeply about him ".

I swallowed the sudden lump in my throat, and stared down at my fingers , "It's complicated ".

He scoffed, "Don't let him deceive you Kira. They always do ".

This time I stared at him.
"Who's Octavia ?".
