Chapter 2. Caring and Sandwiches.
After hearing several long, pointless sentences that were taking me nowhere, we finally sat in the corner of the canteen with our foods. Devan was having some turkey sandwiches and Coke. And I was having a chicken sandwich and Pepsi.
He chirped "so, you are a Pepsi girl? Ahaan?"
I matched his tone and chirped too "so, you are a Coke boy? Ahaan?"
And we both laughed more than it was necessary.
Devan had a nice smile though. Anyone could fall for it but, I was not in a mood or a plan to fall of anybody at that phase of life. I'm a gone case. Totally. So, he was my first friend, in this new school. Yes, a friend. I would rather consider him as a friend. Moreover, I was kind of enjoying the way he spoke those un-meaningful stuffs, rather sentences. He was funny and he made me smile so much. I was habituated to it by now.
He asked "so, tell me something about you!"
I replied "about me? Umm, what do you want to know?"
He said "about your family? Yes. About your family."
I gave him a closed mouthed smile and said "okay, I have my dad, mom and my baby brother, Jason. He is the best person that has ever come into my life. I love him the most. And basi-"
"GET OUTTA HERE, THAT'S MY SEAT." Someone said from behind me.
I turned around to face him. He was tall, muscular and had light brown eyes. In addition, he had sharp jawline and highlighted hair with different shades of brown.
My heart stopped. He was breath taking. He was handsome. He was perfect.
That mysterious guy never looked at me, as if it was only him and Devan there. Before I could say anything, Devan spoke out "excuse me?"
The guy snapped "you heard that right. Now move your lazy ass outta here."
I guessed 'outta' was his favorite word cause, he said that twice, already. What are you thinking about Mel? You are in danger. Help yourself and your new friend out of here.
"Mind your language." Devan said sternly, raising an eyebrow.
I was shocked seeing this side of Devan though. He could ever beserious, I was not sure about that.
The mysterious guy spoke up with unlimited amount of cockiness dripping from his voice "how dare you order me?"
before creating any problems, I interrupted "Devan, let's go. And we are done eating too, so never mind."
Devan yelled at me "why should we leave? You know what? I want to eat five more sandwiches in this seat, right now."
I laughed. Holy cheese cake.
"Let's go Devan" I said, taking up my backpack.
"No wait, I am serious." Devan said.
I went to his back and pushed him, and kept pushing him until we were out of the canteen.
"That man was mad," Devan complained.
'And handsome' I said to myself, "yeah." Is what I replied.

I attended three more classes, without Devan, because the classes didn't match. I walked myself to the hallway, then to my locker, I kept my books and took my skateboard, phone and stuff and closed the locker.
I turned around as I was putting my things into the backpack and was walking through the hallway.
KABOOM!
"Hey Mel," said Devan and he continued "did you think that you will escape the school without waving me off, then you were so wrong. And you know-" he paused and looked at my skateboard and continued yet again "boohoo, you skate too? Wow. Yeah, so where was I, yeah, my plan was to drop you home, but I love to skate so I won't stop you from doing that, I'll go alone. Anyways, bye. See you tomorrow."
"Thanks Devan for giving me a chance to speak. And yeah, see you tomorrow. bye." I finished.
I walked away. I looked at Devan, he was putting his things in his locker and walked back to him.
"Devan, you know something? I wasn't planning to leave the school without waving you off, I thought to wait for you in the parking lot." I said to him and smiled.
"I am sorry, but, I was just kidding. Did I hurt you? I didn't mean it. Mel, you care? You care about me? Me?" Devan said shocked.
"Yes, Devan I care, for you. If you remember we are friends. Okay?" I confirmed him.
"Thanks Mel," he said with a smile.
"You are always welcome. Always." I affirmed. "Now bye. I got to pick up my baby brother." I continued and waved him off.

I was skating through the streets to Jason's school. The tall towering buildings, the trees behind the pavements, the shops, the soothing wind brushing through my hairs, all felt so good and different. Nothing was same.
Now we were in a new house, new place, new views, new school, and a new friend, Devan.
I smiled. Wait, why am I smiling like an idiot? No, stop.
The people passing by me, felt like I know them, everyone. No one was a stranger to me. They looked like, I know them, all of them.
I loved New York since I was a kid and now, when I am supposed to stay here, it felt like I was living in my dream. Even the clouds, the birds, the butterflies seemed different and new to me. They were so beautiful.
I was loving this so much.
I was drowned in my thoughts, until someone honked their car behind me. I shifted more towards the side walk or the pavement, whatever you say.
The car honked again. This time, I stopped.
The car stopped by my side, and the tinted glass was up. It rolled down, in a while.
"Hey."
