Chapter 10.Handsome and Goldy.

Shawn and I were on our way to the mall in his jeep. I told him to take our car instead, but no, he won't listen. We were already 7 minutes late, and Aaron called me up, I told him that we were on our way.

Well, going on a jeep was a nice idea cause, I never rode a Jeep before, and it was kind of fun and crazy, at the same time. I was enjoying the ride.  I was happy. Life was good until, Shawn decided to play music.

I was scared of his choice, but he played a nice song, 'Tonight, tonight.'

"I like this song," I said.

"Me too," replied Shawn.

The cold air was hitting us making my hairs fly back. I was smiling, seeing the trees rush by our sides, the moon following us, the cars passing by..... I was enjoying everything about the ride.

I was no more interested in bowling, I wanted to keep riding, with this loud music and Shawn by my side.

I loved his Jeep.

"La La La," Shawn yelled at the top of his lungs.

"Whatever." I yelled back.

"La La La," Shawn yelled again.

"It doesn't matter," I yelled in return.

"La La La," he yelled, bursting into laughter's.

"Oh well," I screamed back and started laughing.

I couldn't sing along because I was laughing so hard.

"Melissa?" he said.

"Yeah?" I said in return.

"I missed you all these years," he said looking at me, his eyes piercing through mine.

I almost drowned into them. What the hell? His eyes were perfect.

Why am I even thinking this?

Screw me.

"Look at the road and drive, I don't want to die," I said.

"You are supposed to say 'I missed you too.' Aren't you?" he asked.

"Yeah I am, and yes, Shawn Collins, I missed you, and the way you annoyed me all the time but, that doesn't mean that you are allowed to annoy me," I said.

"You were the same five years ago, you didn't change a bit, except you are taller, your hairs are longer, you are prettier and smarter," he said.

"Was that a compliment?" I asked.

"It was many compliments together," he assured.

"Thank you so much, well I must admit too, that you are very handsome now, and a little less annoying," I told him.

"Thanks for the compliment, milady," he said doing that British Accent.

"Ew. You suck at this," I remarked, making a disgusted face.

"At least I tried," he said laughing at my reaction.

We were in the parking lot of the mall; I hopped out of the jeep.

"I looooooooooooved the ride Shawn, it was AMAZING," I said jumping up and down.

"Your mom said that right, you are wild," he said smiling at me.

"Huh," I huffed, "but I really loved it."

"Okay, you are welcome," he said.

"No, you are not getting my point, try harder," I said, lifting both of my eyebrows.

"What do you mean?" he said looking at me.

"I mean, after bowling, we should go on a drive," I said with hopeful eyes and puppy face.

"Yeah right, a drive home," Shawn joked.

"A drive to somewhere else, you know, mum trusts you, so, we can go home late and, we can just drive around the town," I said, still doing that puppy face.

"Stop doing that puppy face, okay, we'll go on a drive, happy?" he said.

"No, a long drive," i suggested.

"Okay, happy?" he asked annoyed.

"Yeah," I exclaimed, throwing both my hands over his shoulders and hugging him shortly before pulling out.

He kept his left hand on my shoulders and on his right hand, he was swirling the jeep keys.

"Hey," someone said from behind us.

We both turned around watching Aaron, walking towards us.

"Hi," I said, still excited after the Jeep ride.

I should stop now.

"Hey," Shawn greeted Aaron.

"Oh, Shawn, this is Aaron Power, and Aaron, this is Shawn Collins," I introduced them to each other.

"Hey dude," Aaron said putting his hand in front for a hand shake.

They both high-fived each other with their shoulders. Like, Shawn hit Aaron with his left shoulder and Aaron hit Shawn with his right shoulder, and they patted their backs at the same time. You know what I mean?

That was weird.

"Hey, you guys done? We should head to the bowling squad, because we are late already," I told them.

Now, we were walking towards the entrance, with me the middle, Shawn in my left and Aaron in my right.

"Why are you in a hurry?" Aaron asked.

"Cause, mum changed her mind, and we have 30 minutes only," I said to Aaron and winked at Shawn.

Shawn rolled his eyes.

We went to the bowling zone and I got our names registered as

COL, HAY, and POW.

Shawn went out of the zone because he had to call someone.

So, Aaron came and stood beside me.

"Hello, Mr. Pow," I joked.

"Shut up," he growled.

"Fine," I said, before walking towards Shawn, who was coming towards the zone.

"Done with your calls?" I asked him.

"Yeah. What are you doing here? You should be with him," he said.

"He yelled at me, so I came out," I said.

"And what did you do, that made him yell at you?" he asked raising an eyebrow.

"Just said 'Hello Mr. Pow' that's all," I said.

"What's that Pow thing?" he asked.

"You'll know once you get there," I giggled.

Shawn and I walked into the zone and went towards Aaron.

"Why do you smell like Lavender?" Aaron asked me.

"Are you always this dumb, or today is something special?" I asked sarcastically.

"What?" he asked confused.

"Never mind," I huffed, "that's the perfume."

"Oh," Aaron said.

Shawn and I giggled.

After the 10 rounds, we were waiting near the score machine to print out our results. The machine made weird sounds and the paper finally came out.

Shawn won, followed by Aaron and then me.

"The machine showed wrong scores, because I definitely won," I announced before walking out of the zone, followed by Shawn and then Aaron.

"Now what? Where are we going now?" Shawn asked.

"What about, talking to strangers about random things, like, your favorite color, or actor, or how much you love your family?" I exclaimed.

"Are you crazy?" Aaron half yelled.

"Sounds great," Shawn exclaimed too.

Shawn and I ran away from the zone towards the food court, and I realized that Aaron wasn't running. I stopped running and ran back towards Aaron, I held his hand and dragged him along with me. This time Aaron was running too, so I left his hand, and he followed my lead.

We reached the food court and sat in a table.

"Your turn first," I told to Shawn and scanned the room, "You have to tell that lady in yellow, about how much you love sunsets in the beach." I finished.

"What? She is going to slap Shawn," Aaron protested.

"No she will not, Shawn will win her by his charm," I said and winked at Aaron.

Shawn got up and walked towards the lady. He said the things, unfortunately we couldn't hear him and after some minutes, the lady looked at us and laughed. I waved at her and smiled too.

Shawn came back.

"You cannot tell them that it was a prank," I yelled at Shawn.

"You didn't tell me this rule," Shawn protested.

"Fine, next time, keep that in mind," I said.

"No next time, we have one turns each, because 30 minutes, remember?" Shawn said.

"Oh yes, time's already up," I panicked.

"Let's do this prank thing on our way to the parking lot, not in the food court anymore?" Aaron suggested.

"Sounds good," Shawn said, and I nodded.

We got and started walking towards the exit of the mall, with the soda in each of our hands.

"Now, Mel, you have to run to that old man in blue and tell him that you are upset cause you had to flush your goldfish down into the toilet, and run back here," Aaron said.

"WOW, that's a good one," I said.

"Hurry up," Shawn said.

I ran to that old man in blue shirt, white trousers and black shiny shoes. He had a bag in his hand, like the ones you get in the grocery store.

He stared at me in shock and I said "You know something? Today morning, I had to flush my goldfish down the toilet and I was so sad. I got it two months back and I named it, umm... Goldy. I asked mum to buy me another fish, but she denied. I don't know why. Do you love goldfishes?"

"Yes, I love them, actually I have some in my house too," he said.

"Oh," I replied, "anyways, bye." I finished.

I was walking away, until the man called me back.

"Take this," he said, giving me transparent packet with a gold fish in it, half filled with water.

"Why were you carrying this with you?" I asked confused.

"I wasn't carrying this, I was coming back from my office, and my daughter told be to buy another fish for her, she already has three of these, so, you can keep it," he said.

"Thank you so much, but I can't take it," I said. I felt like the worst person ever."You should take it," he said smiling, and he patted my back.

"Thank you," I said, before walking towards Aaron and Shawn, with the goldfish in my hand.

I regretted bringing up this idea of pranking people. This man was so sweet.

"I don't want to play this game anymore," I said, looking down at the fish in my hand.

"It's okay," Shawn said, and hugged me.

"You are such a girl," I said slapping away his hand, making him laugh.

"See you tomorrow in school then," Aaron said, half happy cause, he didn't have to talk to strangers.

"Let's go," I said to Shawn.

"Yeah," he replied.

The guys waved each other off, and I turned around to find the old man, he was still standing there, I waved at him, catching his attention, and I shouted "Bye, and thanks again."

The man waved his hand too, with a wide smile.

Shawn and I hopped into the jeep. Shawn put the key in and the jeep roared into life.
