So, imma just apologise in advance, but also say that whatever happens in this chapter wasn't planned, but it just kinda happened (like most things in this mess of a fanfic series)

As the fight between Hyunjin and Chan and Felix, the demon/ghoul hybrid noticed something was off about this 'evil' Hyunjin. It was almost like the real Hyunjin was trying to take his body back. 

Hyunjin would stop fighting randomly, and dodge a blow at the last possible moment, his eyes flashing from black to brown. Seokjin had disappeared to who knows where, not wanting to stand around and watch a fight. Felix internally scoffed; Seokjin more than likely figured that they would kill Hyunjin, but he was wrong. 

Chan suddenly threw a punch, however 'Hyunjin' dodged it. That gave Felix enough time to throw a punch of his own, which 'Hyunjin' didn't have enough time to dodge as his head harshly snapped to one side. Hyunjin's nose was bleeding, and his eyes had turned from black to brown again. This time, they stayed brown for a longer time.

"Run" Hyunjin simply said.

"Why?" Felix asks breathlessly.

"Follow Seokjin's scent. Just g-go" Hyunjin's face was screwed up in pain, "don't let him die. If he dies, I die, and Hyunho gets stronger!" 

Felix and Chan glance at each other, looking up at the massive volcano.

"I'll go" Chan says, "I owe Jooheon a lot. It's time I repay him for everything he's done for me, and for you" 

"Go" Felix agreed, "but if you die on me, I will bring you back and kill you myself" the hybrid growls out as Hyunjin begins to push himself up from the ground, his eyes a soulless black once again. 

Chan nods, scaling the massive volcano. He could feel the vibrations, and every so often the harsh shaking of the volcano threatens to throw him off, but he held on tightly. As he climbed, he couldn't help think back to the past...

Flashback!

"You're an idiot" Jooheon deadpanned, "you want me to tell Felix you're dead when you're actually not!?"

"I know it's crazy but-" "you have no idea what you'd be doing to him, to yourself even! You're Mates dumbass; Mates aren't meant to be apart like this! It'll break both of your hearts until you decide to show up! And what will you do then huh? Just walk up and say 'honey, I'm home?' He'll hate you"

"I nearly drove District 9 into the ground. Felix is a better leader than I am" Chan sighed, not realising how stupid he sounded.

"You're damn right about that one. At least Felix won't abandon them like you have" Jooheon snapped.

"I don't want to be a leader anymore J! I'm not meant for it; he is" Chan said.

"Then why would you fake your death? Why couldn't you just go back and just say you want to step down and have Felix take your place?" Jooheon asks.

"Because...he needs to learn how to lead them without me there. I know he can do it; I believe in him" Chan said, looking Jooheon dead in the eyes, "do you?"

"Of course I do" Jooheon whispers, "the real question is: will the others follow his lead?"

Flashback End!

Chan's breathing became heavy and uneven, a yelp escaping him as a particularly hard shake from the volcano almost completely flung him off. He looks up and gulps.

"Fuck" he mutters, "that's definitely not good"

The volcano was erupting.

Am incredibly loud explosion came soon after, and this time Chan was flung off; rolling down the volcano at an inhuman speed. He cries out in pain as he hits the bottom. He looks down and curses loudly when he realises that his legs were broken. Thankfully, he felt them slowly begin to heal.

Further away, Felix and Hyunjin had felt the eruption too, and had collapsed. Hyunjin's eyes were back to brown, but he didn't look okay. He looked pale; too pale. 

"Felix...I'm sorry" Hyunjin whimpered.

Felix crawled over, looking up fearfully when he heard the deafening explosion from the volcano. He looked back at Hyunjin who looked as if he was about to faint. It was only then that Felix realised what was going on. 

"Hyunjin...Hyunjin, please don't die" Felix whimpered, shuffling closer as Hyunjin fell forward, "not you too, please"

"I'm sorry" Hyunjin coughed, "I tried to fight it, I really did"

"I know, I know" Felix runs his hand through Hyunjin's hair.

"Just...promise you'll avenge me?" Hyunjin said jokingly.

Felix let out a tiny giggle, nodding, "of course"

"Seokjin's already gone but...you c-can still kill...Hyunho" Hyunjin started to lose consciousness, and Felix knew he didn't have very long left.

"I'll tell my kids about you; about the amazing things you did" Felix choked back a sob.

"Thank...you..." and Hyunjin finally let go. 

Felix doesn't know how long he sat there silently, holding Hyunjin's body in a tight grip, but he eventually lied Hyunjin's limp body on the dirt, looking up at the volcano with angry eyes. He stood up, a low growl escaping.

'I'll tear that so called demon sorcerer limb from limb and keep his head as a trophy' Felix thought to himself as he followed Seokjin's faint scent up the side of the volcano where the path that led to the cave was. 

Felix wasn't going to let anyone else die, not if he could help it...
