Chapter Thirteen - NOT A COINCIDENCE

My eyes snapped open almost immediately, and something moist touched my cheeks, specifically tears. Judging from the dried smeared tears and salivas on my cheeks and lips, it seemed like I've been crying for a very long time.

I shivered at the strange encounter and magical revelation I had in the vision. Everything seemed so real, especially her scent and touch.

I mean, dreams are dreams right?

She can't really be gone, can she?

The word gone rang in my ears like a bell, and I couldn't help but burst into tears. That explains all the craziness and hallucinations I've been having for the past few years now, It finally makes some sense for once. I wasn't normal.

I'm I even a human in this case?

I hugged my knees tightly, swinging back and forth with so many emotions and questions flowing at the same time.

I stared at my reflection in the standing mirror from the corner of my bed side and wasn't surprised to find my eyes blue again. I think I could get used to that.

Her words rang in my ears again:

"Follow the black cat".

"Make wise decisions".

Could that black cat be part of this too...?

What does a cat got to do with this?

Wait - is that why it's been following me the whole time?

Now it all makes sense.

Should I perhaps tell mum about this...?

No.

I trust nobody.

Not those two.

Not in this kind of situation that is...

I clenched my fist and unclenched my fists, staring outside the open windows, expecting the black cat to return--- but no, an hour has passed, and another, then another---but nothing happened.

The time was already at the evenings, and I needed to rest for tomorrow's head aches anyways even though I've had more than enough of my sleep.

My stomach grumbled at the thought of food, making me to groan in hunger. I guess my stomach agrees to that too. That dream pretty much messed up my head and stomach.

"I just wish there were fruits around...especially my favorite...I could really be filled with those". I groaned and stood up, making my way to the dinner room in search of something to eat.

I wonder what my parents are up to.

Third person's POV

The moment she left the room, everywhere dazzled with green and blue glimmerings. The atmosphere radiated with a white gleamy aura - which could be predicted as something beyond the natural. As the aura slowly depleted, a symbol or rather a figure, glowed above the musical box. It was a strange symbol that only the greatest one could interpret it - an image of a winged girl with the scales of justice in her left hand, that had a glowing crown above her head. Almost like the Lady of Justice. The only difference was that something melanizing yet, glamorous engulfed the musical box as she reached out for it. She had purified some lingering dark energies from the box before blessing the table with different fruits. The satisfied blind Goddess then wore a sheepish grin, probably from the girl's first silly request, as others wished for fame, power and here, she was wishing for mere fruits.

"Go now and show justice to those that needs it, blessed daughter of the Everglow Kingdom".  With that, the Goddess raised her sword in the air and looked up to the heavens. The breeze caressed the ends of her golden hair as the atmosphere darkened at her presence. Her body slowly depleting and fading away, starting from her white silky wings--- as she had done her part of justice and granted the successor's wish.

{A/N: Love how this came out well! But do note that this doesn't belong to me as I only borrowed it from Pinterest! ©Mkitho on deviantart}

All kinds of fruits just you name it appeared, but with her favorite fruit more in numbers. They laid on the table right next to the magical box she loved playing all the time.

Was that a clue to something?

Yes.

That wasn't a musical box-

Her grandmother had disguised it to be one for her safety, but really-

-It's a sort of magical orb that chooses the destiny or fate of the next successor of the magical world and wields his/her powers. The Goddess of Fate only appears at the first summon or request by a true witch blood in form of a winged girl. If the successor is lucky enough, she would catch a glimpse of this glory. Sadly, Isabelle didn't witness this and wouldn't ever again.

What Isabelle didn't know is that her grandma, Alexis, had transferred her powers to the closest person she had trusted. And that closest person happened to be none other than the legendary Isabelle.

But unfortunately, she did that right after she had died in reality, before her sixty eighth birthday.

In the price of magic, using magic meant for the true blood line, doesn't only alter sanity. It as well results to early death-

-at the age of 68!

Mrs Alexis happened to be a victim of this sadly. She wasn't the destined one but she had to do this for the safety of her angel.

The true witch blood.

Isabelle's POV

I stood akimbo on the stairs when I saw my parents whispering in mumbles amongst themselves. The way they were mumbling lowly felt like it had to do with someone, or at least something I knew, or familiar with.

Hmmm...wonder what could bring them this close to TALK?

Hahaha-

-It won't be long before they argue again anyways...

I chuckled and took a deep breath, tiptoeing down the stairs as carefully as I could. As I reached halfway in my attempt, a strange unknown thought came pouring into my head, almost like it was said right to my face in a sharp tone.

"Go now and show justice to those that needs it".

I tried to ignore these stupid hallucinations and stay focus on my parent's conversation, but not until a strange scent filled my nostrils.

Not the food scent-

-Just a different scent...

I couldn't say if it was the scent of fresh dews or that of green leaves, but it was something definitely related to nature.

I involuntarily let out a sneeze and turned to see my parents look at me like they were shocked of my presence.

Great job, Isabelle.

Just when you were gonna savour this moment, you ruined it before you could even reach there.

The look on their faces made me realize I must have really set them off guard and that thrilled me honestly. Just why don't I have a camera with me at a moment like this.

"We uhh...need to talk". Mum started.

Not again with the talks...

I've already started hated to talk!

"Listen, you're gonna be home schooled from now on". Dad concluded, adjusting his darkened glasses in a way to intimidate me. "And that's final".

I felt dumbfounded and speechless. The hell they only cared nothing about my feelings or emotions.

"Okay". I answered flatly and took my plate, heading for my room. I give up trying to justify myself. I'd just dance to their tunes for a while, after all I'm not eighteen yet.

"Really?". They both asked in shock at my plain response.

"Yeah, why not?". I smiled bitterly and walked into my room, closing the door as silently as I could. I don't know if it was me but the air suddenly seemed tensed and different---and I recognize that kind of change.

The moment my eyes caught a glimpse of my dressing table, my bowl fell from my hands in fright.

The hell!

I was shaking and at the same time, pointing in disbelief at the displays of fruits on the table. Worse, the more I keep pointing, the more I felt sparks running through my hands.

"Isabelle! Are you alright?". said mum from behind the door.

I kept ignoring their questions from outside the door and focused on the mystery before me.

"Did someone drop this while I was gone?". I rolled my eyes in defeat, knowing what could possibly have led to this, and cleaned up the mess, tossing the spilled junks into the bin.

How in the world did all these get here?

I wasn't even hungry anyways, I just wanted to fill my stomach with something, at least that's what I thought.

Could this be another trick?

As if on clue, the box besides them slowly creaked open. Each time all these crazy stuffs happened, it was linked to this box...and who was this box linked to?

My grandma...

"What does this mean for me?". I gawked in realisation of the whole thing that has been hanging in the air---Magic.

"Go now and show justice to those that needs it". Those words came pouring into my mind again. Only this time, it came out barely a whisper from the creepy musical box.

Okay, this isn't a coincidence...

These are signs!

{A/N: Isabelle's life has just begun hehehe, be ready to face two options as the reader! Also...just dropped by to give credit to the picture placed about this story. Credits goes to the anime, hyouka, as I don't own any of their pictures. I couldn't really find a human one of my taste for Minuet so I picked this as a second option since it's clashing with fantasy. I love how it goes well with my story but feel free to imagine him the way you want to! Thank you and buh-bye!
