Chapter Sixty - Sleep mode
"She's getting out of control Isabelle, you can't stand against her alone, LEAVE AT ONCE!".
"No!".
Minuet's soft paws started to dig itself into my skin to make me comply to his orders. I bet that he would have shifted back to teach me a lesson, but he can't, and that's my luck.
"I-I can't leave them here Minuet...I'm sorry...". I sighed and tried to cut off our mindlink.
"Don't make me compel you Isabelle". He growled.
Before he could threaten me anymore, I saw myself walking towards the door just like that and mouthed sorry to the groaning Xander. I needed some time to get through all these. My crush is a hunter and my best friend is a witch. I'm beginning to question my humanity too. I'm I even human? I need answers right now!
But before I could twist the door knob, a burst of explosion caused all of us to fall on our knees from the shock.
Julius had activated one of the deadly magic circles ever known in the history of sorceresses. I've seen this circle in almost all the books in Grandma's library. This particular magic has been the greatest fear of many supernaturals centuries ago. It doesn't only darkens the person's heart but also her soul because it's pure evil and vicious - the person completely loses his or her mind if not careful. What's surprising is that this spell can't be done by one sorceress alone but six or more. It's been a really long time since the dark spirit in the magic was activated and because of that, it wasn't stable yet! If Julius doesn't quit that this instance... there'd be no trace of us at all.
I wanted to run. I wanted to hide. I wanted to do anything that'd end this whole conflict! But what? If I move any more inch these crazy traps around me would either paralyze me or do God - knows - what to me!
"Blair, get away from that place at once!". Xander snapped, waving his hands furiously to get back my attention as something flew furiously towards me. "She's going to vaporize you out of existence!".
I gasped as the beam got brighter and bigger, the dark flames at it's tips consumed the light in it, making the ball of energy into black magic. I tried to move. I tried to move away but because she converted my light to darkness my body is slowly getting a taste of what her body is experiencing too...but in the unpleasant way.
Is this the end?
Is this how I was gonna end?
"Conceal!". Minuet had converted his energy of shifting into a shielding green light of protection while he shifted back to his human form.
I could hear the skeptical gasps around me.
"Y-you!". Julius spat out, shaking terribly and at the same time pointing a finger towards him.
"I know you! Isabelle desperately goes to you everytime, isn't it?! You're...y-you...what are you exactly? An imposter! Huh?!".
Excuse YOU? Who goes to who desperately?!
"I'm your worst nightmare". He snorted.
"W-what?". She stuttered nervously and couldn't concentrate on attacking us again.
I gasped as the echoes of claps and laughs bounced around us. It wasn't Xander's neither Julius or Minuet's! But who?
"It's hard to see a witch against her own kind". said a deep low feminine voice from within the shadows. "I love this job so much!".
"Why do you have to ruin everything?! Can't you see this is an auditorium where everyone can hear you?!". Another said.
There were so many talkings and arguments but no one in view. Everyone were scanning the whole room but saw nothing. Is it that ghosts are real this time?
"You morons can come out now". Xander sighed, making me turn to him in confusion. "It's good to see you watch 'everything' and not destroy them". He said sarcastically.
My jaws dropped when the troops of hunters and huntresses showed up from all corners of the auditorium. They were passing through walls and doors and soon, we were all surrounded.
What?
How did they...
I held my head feeling a little light-headed as I felt the intense use of magic around me. Everyone here was dealing with magic and here I am... doing nothing because I can't. I can't believe these heartless dudes use our magic and still wants us dead!
"Magic?!". I stomped my feet, turning to the cold hunter. "Seriously?! And you call us 'evil, heartless and selfish'!".
"Unlike you guys, we use this magic for something that's beneficial to everyone". He retorted in a bloody cold voice. All these while I took him for granted, now he's showing his real colour. "And yes, you guys are still filthy whores. All you ladies know how to do is hypnotize, sleep, kill and overthrow".
I felt anger boil inside of me. He's gone too far now. He accused me not only of being a whore but only sleeping around!
"Enough!". I snapped, shaking my head furiously as I clung to Minuet's arm for my dear life. I may not be in total control tonight, but Minuet...I trust him...always.
"Take her!". Xander shifted his attention back to the sneaky girl, pointing at her direction. "She's the first one to feel the pain of her actions".
Julius started walking back nervously as they started approaching her. I feel so sad and angry at the same time. Should I help her? Despite everything she did to me? Should I risk this?
As I turned to limp away, Minuet held my arm with a hint of intimidation twinkling in his amber eyes.
"Don't do it". He commanded with a serious tone, engulfing us completely in a protective ball of light. "If you dare move...I'd never forgive you".
"W-what do you mean?!". I shivered in defeat and slumped my shoulders as I walked behind him. "There...there is going to be b-blood Minuet! I can feel it!".
"That's why I said...stay...back". He gritted through his teeth and looked into my eyes for a moment. "You won't like what you'd see... tonight's more of beasts and creatures than humans and hunters".
He turned his face away as I attempted to ask him a question. Before I could tell what would happen next he placed his palms on the ground, mumbling some strange words. I turned around in fear as the layer of protection became very thick and densed - very impossible to see what was going on.
"M-minuet! You...you can't do this to me!". I screamed as he continued making me powerful enough to help and defend myself but not powerful enough to break through. "You can't do this alone! They're all monsters! What if...".
"I'm a monster!". He retorted, gripping my hair roughly. "Let monsters face monsters, the chosen one gets to stay behind!".
"Minuet...". I whispered with an annoyed groan, tearing up silently at how he wanted me not to help him despite everything we've been together. "I'm getting out of this shield...".
Minuet narrowed his eyes down at me as I challenged him but he didn't say anything again. I watched in defeat as he floated out of the shield and vanished.
Crying myself out, I fell on my knees, sobbing against my palms with so much emotions. Why doesn't he trust me at this point? I've seen a lot of blood, I...I even injured him!
"I must help". My voice came out determined and firm as I wiped my teas with the back of my hands. "Even if it means losing something in me".
"Unconceal!". I snapped my fingers at the intimidating ball but it only rumbled and didn't break open. I've to try harder! I'd stop at nothing to get out of here!
"Open?". I blinked as nothing happened this time.
"Break open! Click open! Uhh...reopen! Anything that has the word open in it! Please just open!". Words kept pouring out of my mouth in frustration, leaving me more and more frustrated on the other hand. I need to get out of here fast!
"Unconceal, dammit!". I shouted in frustration, slamming my fists against the bewitched field. "It's me! Your master! The very one that owns you, not them! Hear me out".
The light flickered unsteadily and the circles were getting weaker and dimmer. That's right! A witch's desperate call at the time of escape! Thank goodness Minuet didn't remember that at all!
"Unseal...". I whispered in a soft tone and leaned my forehead against the force field, merging my emotions with the magic. My eyes closed briefly as the familiar electrifying feeling shot through me, Minuet's part of him - his magic.
"The chosen one needs to go...". I whispered again, flickering my arms in a slow circular motion as I felt my magic slowly come back to life again.
With a little rumble, the force field burst into life, safely dropping me on the ground. I didn't even realize it until Xander's voice reached my ears.
"Oh! There's my interrogator! It's time for you to be interrogated as well...".
I hit my hand against my forehead with an annoyed sigh. Everyone's eyes averted to me, including Minuet. I instinctively pressed my palms against my lips when dead bodies were littered almost everywhere. Okay, I may have lied about not having phobias on this...this is a nightmare come through.
Slowly raising my head, I teleported to his side, pressing my face into his shirt to see less of everything. I grabbed his left arm nervously and held his hand with a worried look.
"I know what you want to do but don't do it...don't... don't kill again, please...l-let them go...for my sake...". I pleaded.
"You still don't get what I am to you huh? I'm tired of driving you away the whole time I need to kill these fools-". He turned away and loosened my grip on his arm, slowly letting his bestial features take over him. "-Just stay behind me while I take care of the whole thing".
"M-minuet!". I walked back frightened as I watched him and the rest of the hunters engage into a deadly fight. The worst part was that Julius was making this whole thing worse by fighting against Minuet with her dark powers too! What's her problem exactly?! Can't she see he's helping?!
I cringed and shuddered as blood and crackling sounds filled the air. I'm too human for this. Minuet was right, I should've never come out.
I gasped when that familiar feeling of being watched hit me. Slowly and reluctantly, I turned around, squinting my eyes into the dull distance. At first, I saw nothing, but when I allowed my magic to scan the area carefully it was then I saw who it was.
I turned at the horrifying sight of Xander's body laying in his own pool of blood. He wasn't really laying, but he was leaning against the wall, watching the whole thing helplessly.
Our eyes locked for some minutes before he glared at me shortly and looked somewhere else. Okay, what is he up to this time? Is he trying to lure me to help him or what? I'm definitely not falling into this trap again!
(Fifteen minutes later of standing aimlessly in the battlefield as she's not being recognized or taken seriously for their rival's leader).
"Take my hand". I whispered and stretched my hand to his face, not looking at the terrible sighting. "You're so lucky I hate blood".
I could tell that he was staring at me in surprise at first before placing his hand in mine. He couldn't even stand up so I had to sling his arms around me to keep him all steady. I hate myself for doing this. I would never do this even but my compassionate Isabelle is forcing me to do this.
"Why are you helping me?". He choked out a bloody cough as his head rested on my shoulders for support.
"Cause you'd help me in return. You're the master in breaking circles of witches so I need you to do that right now. Know that I still hate you!".
"I still hate you too". He sighed and pushed himself against the wall next to the door. "Well...".
"What now?". I inquired.
He didn't answer and dug his fingers into his soaking cloak bringing out a blood stained amulet. The same one that drained me that night and the same one that tampered with my magic in school.
"GET IT AWAY FROM ME!".
He laughed and clicked the side of the amulet, making it glow a bit.
Slowly, he re-drew the circles Julius had made on the walls and that's when I understood. He had been playing with my mind. He sometimes pretend to wear something dangerous to attract us and use his magic to cover up the amulet so it'd look like it's enchanted or something. Okay, I've got to say...that's pretty impressive.
"Give me your hand". He requested.
"Are you crazy?!".
"Now is not the time for any-".
He rolled his eyes and forcefully placed his hand on mine while mumbling something - a whisper to the walls.
"Let's hope it works". Xander said, staring at the walls while leaning against me for support.
I watched as golden light traced the lines of the drawings across the wall slowly, gradually deactivating our magics.
"It worked!". I gasped as the walls glowed steadily and gave way.
"Freeze, both of you!". Julius's icy voice filled the air, and before I could think any further, my body slowly went paralysed. Uh oh. This is not good. How is she always able to get to my magic!?
"Dang it Minuet!".
"Where are you?".
"Play time's over you two, you need to die once and for all...your sins are just something else". She shouted and sent showers of devilish silver stakes through the air towards Xander.
I don't know why.
I don't know how.
I just don't know but my body somehow moved and instead of moving for safety, it moved to get the danger for Xander. I noticed that silver was his weakness and if I'm correct, one more silver thingy and he's gone.
"Blair, why did you do that?!". Xander's confused voice rose in the air which made me chuckle in amazement at how he could still worry.
"Because I want you to die in the most painful way and not like this Xander". I whispered in a moaning tone as I started feeling intense pains and heat rise from my lower abdomen to my upper body.
"You're gonna regret that Julius". Xander growled. "I can't believe I'm saying this but...Blair is nothing like you...you're letting your dark side consume you easily!".
I could already feel my magic start to vanish little by little. Maybe the spell she cast on me was the one that was eating my magic up because I'm already losing my consciousness slowly. My magical form started to fade away, as well as my magic and memories.
"I want to sleep..I want to sleep...I want to sleep". I kept repeating the same thing over and over again as I felt my life going. I started to emit my white magic as I gave up the other part of me as Blair.
"Isabelle?!".
