Book 1. Chapter Five - Self Control
Xander
I pulled on the two lads' hairs and dragged them down to an empty class, bolting the door from behind. When my eyes finally landed on Ruby, I felt my gut and muscles get all tensed up for immediate course of action. I knew everything that has been going on with him and Isabelle, but I never took it as something this serious.
"Whoa, relax man." Ruby taunted with a nervous smile. He still had the guts to smile. He still has the fucking guts to taunt me. He's lucky we're not alone in this school or those teeth would be gone for good.
"And you!" I hissed in disgust, pulling hard at Sandra's hair at the same time. "You two have always been slipping from my grip. I've always been covering for you guys...but this ends now!"
The guy in my grasp suddenly burst into another laughter. I could barely contain my anger anymore. Apart from harassing students, these two have always made my life a mess. I can remember vividly months ago when he was once a coordinator like us, each time I think of that, I can't help but feel ashamed. He was supposed to stand for the students and not stand on the students.
Yes, I've been ignoring all informations on his secretive behavior. This guy was the most trusted person on my list and yet, the tables turned around huh. He really is a sneaky backstabber. His purpose all these while was just to sneak information from us, indirectly molest students and worse, do everything behind our backs. I regret that very day I didn't listen to my instincts. I sensed something fishy was going on but paid no attention to the 'false' alarms. I just wonder, how many more students have fallen into his trap?
The adrenaline in my blood kept rising, and I could feel myself itching for blood. I let him get away with him once, twice, third...and the sixteenth! I won't let him get away the seventeenth time! Worse, this person in particular is none other than Isabelle we're talking about. The very one that I won't even let my colleagues lay a hand on.
I groaned at that thought and tightened my grasp on their neck. I watched coldly as Sandra was pleading for the intake of air, whereas Ruby was showing visible fear now. But that wasn't enough. I needed them to feel pain. I want them to feel what they've made their victims go through all these years, even if it means death.
Then, the worst happened.
I could feel my fingers turning swiftly to claws. I groaned more as the left side of my eye was flickering to a deep crimson colour. I didn't want to change. I didn't want to break the promise I made either - that of drinking from live preys. I didn't want to kill because of a careless decision. These two are seriously testing the waters. If only I could amend the past somehow.
My claws dug into their skin, making them whine in pain and hiss in agony. "You feel that? That's nothing compared to what you've done."
"W-what are you doing?" said the shivering blonde girl in my right arm. It's so funny how she was cowering now but would look so intimidating in front of everyone. I'm glad someone gave her a piece of her mind earlier.
The thought made me wear a small smile, but that smile only lasted for a second. A small growl of satisfaction left my lips involuntarily as the scent of their fear reached my nostrils.
"A-alexander." The way he stuttered made me realize that he had seen me. He had seen the real me. Okay, that finalizes everything. I've been giving myself excuses not to hurt a fly but now he has given me no option than to do this.
As my teeth retracted into fangs, ready to attack, a familiar voice stopped me midway.
"Self control, Hunters." The redheaded girl cooed behind me, caressing my shoulders in soothing circles. "Let the losers go."
"If you dare let them go..." The daring words left my lips in between husky breaths. The last thing I needed in a moment like this was a female around me, especially her.
"Sandra Bourgeois." The redheaded girl boomed, staring into her eyes, like she was staring into her soul. Of course she was going to compel her. She always does that when I'm about to end them!
The blondie stared at her like she was in a daze, which she was in of course. You could compare her to that of a zombie actually.
"You'd forget everything that happened right away, alongside with you, Ruby Edwards. You'd only remember despising each other and about to create a scene in the principal's office. Nothing more, nothing less." The redheaded girl commanded the hypnotized victims besides her, showing them the way out with a wicked grin. "Don't forget to confess your sins too!"
"Stop defending me, Hunters! I can do things myself! I-I'm just..." My throat went dry and I couldn't talk anymore. I almost killed again. Fuck. I ran my clawed fingers through my hair with a frustrated sigh.
"So now what, bossy?" She said with a little hint of sarcasm in her tone. "Going to chase after the bird now?"
"I need some time alone." I growled softly, turning my back against her front. I don't want anyone around me now. I just fucking need to stay away from everyone now. I'm so fucked up. It seems like I still haven't gotten hold of my emotions yet.
What if I hurt someone someday?
The ringing of a cell phone caught my attention, and I averted my glare to the red headed girl in a questioning manner.
"It's a video call from Foxwell." She said, waving the phone in front of my face. "Want me to answer it?"
I sighed. "Go on."
I watched as she clicked her tongue with a satisfied nod. Making sure that the coast was clear, she raised her hands in the air, murmuring some jumbled words before flickering her hands briefly. Within some seconds, lights shot out from the phone in our front and projected the caller on the wall while the phone floated the whole time.
Crossing my arms, I got hold of my emotions, slowly returning back to myself. Whatever the reason she's calling now can't be definitely good.
The hologram of Foxy sprang to life, glitching a bit before maintaining it's signals. "Alexa—" She started but paused when she looked over to my side. "Oh hey Hunters, what brings you—"
"Did something happen?" I raised an eyebrow, not wanting her to finish the predicted chitchat.
"Well..." She started, sucking the bottom of her lips before switching her look to that of a worried one. "There's something you'd like to see, my Lord."
"Oh?" Interesting. Another situation to deal with, great. "And what is that Foxy?" I asked, with the hope that it wasn't something serious.
She closed her eyes for a moment, without saying anything else.
"Could it be something related to your parents?" The girl besides me asked in a whisper. "I think we need to get moving."
"You two need to meet me, like right now." Foxy chirped in, disconnecting the holograms that was made hovering in the air. "We can't discuss this here, it's not safe."
The phone then fell into my grasp once the magic was called off. "Unfortunately, my dad already booked me up with the other huntresses, I wouldn't be within this neighborhood for a week or two." The redheaded girl said with a sigh, running her fingers through the leathery strap across her shoulders. "You guys would have to hunt without me now, I can't believe I would miss out all the fun!" She frowned.
"Focus on enslaving those creatures now, and not having fun young lady." I poked my finger against her forehead in a scolding manner.
"Fine daddy, but can you cover up for me? In case anyone asks about my absence that is..."
"Daddy?" I raised an eyebrow and frowned but I was more like confused—until I got the clear understanding of what she meant and chuckled. It's not my fault I'm controlling and demanding. "Fine, I'd cover up for you, unless you stop calling me that." She rolled her eyes and shrugged a bit.
Foxy cleared her throat twice, catching our attention once more. What the hell is she insinuating?
"Hang up...now." I shot her a small glare and nodded as she baded us farewell and cut the call with a chuckle. It was just the huntress and I in the room now. The air was tensed between both of us. Both of us seemed strangely nervous, and that's the last thing I want here, not with a report on hand.
"We need to leave."
