Episode 4| Control and Comfortations

EVEN though everyone else seemed to forget about the conversion that happened at lunch, it was still fresh on Alice's mind. How could this new girl ignore their existence? She thought, did the girl not care about her reputation, did she not care about her mother's reputation? She couldn't have.

Alice made her way to her next class, which she luckily had with Justice. Alice couldn't help but observe the girl for the second time today.

Just as before, there seemed to be something different about her. Everyone around the girl seemed to bow. They looked at her as though she was elite. Yet the girl herself didn't see it. Alice felt like she was going mad trying to figure the girl out. How could she not see the gold she was walking on?

Alice had to do something about it.

Alice normally sat in one of the upper middle rows in class, but she'd noticed Justice sat in the back middle rows. She sat next to some weirdo who was staring at her, as she naively ignored it.

At least what that seemed as though she was doing to Alice. In actuality Justice was avoiding the stares. She'd been getting stares all day, and it had been weird. At home, she wasn't invisible, but she wasn't exactly someone that got lots of attention by her peers. The only person who gave her attention daily was Chanel. Justice frowned a bit, missing her best friend.

During lunch while talking and getting to know Zel and Chase, she couldn't help but compare their blooming friendship to her seasoned friendship with Chanel. She felt as though the three could form a strong friendship, but it would never compare to the one she had with her best friend.

"Find somewhere else to sit creep." Alice told the weirdo sitting next to Justice.

The boy scrambled up fearfully grabbing his stuff, rushing out of the seat into another probably far away from the two girls.

As soon as the boy was gone, Alice gave Justice a fake smile sitting next to her. Justice returned an even faker smile to the girl. Just great... Justice thought.

"So you're the new girl, right?" Alice asked as she leaned across her desk, still having her perfectly fake smile plastered on her face. She obviously knew she was new. The question that Justice along with everyone else was why Alice was talking to the new girl? The Beverly Circle crew―especially not their queen bee―would never talk to anyone just because they're new. What was so special about Justice?

"Yep," Justice said distantly, as she'd rather not be talking to Alice. Yet Alice continued to stare at her. What did the girl want? The science between the two was awkward. "I'm Justice. Justice Andr-" The darker girl started off but was cut off by Alice.

"Oh, I know who you are." Alice said with a fake laugh. "And I'm certain you already know who I am." She added confidently, as she flipped her golden blonde hair.

Alice had hoped to have a bigger impact on her introduction to the girl. She'd expect the girl to bow down at her, and even want to be friends. What she hadn't expected was for the girl to seem bored with her. Alice wasn't used to this. Did the girl not like her? Everyone likes Alice.

Justice had wiped her fake smile off her face. She was getting quite bored, as she looked up to the front of the room and saw that the professor was still preparing for the lesson. "Is there anything in reason in particular that you're talking to me?" She looked back at Alice, but she refused to meet her eyes. She could see the frustration on her face.

Alice sat up straighter and cleared her throat. The other girl refused to meet her eyes and that was a problem. She needed the girl to meet her eyes. She needed to show the other girl how much power she held, even if she already knew. "I wanted to invite you to a small get together later on today. I would only be us and the rest of the Beverly Circle crew, we wanted to invite you to the neighborhood."

Yes, Justice and Diana had moved into one of the mansions in Beverly Circle. Justice remembered on the show that there had been a new home in their neighborhood being built and furnished. This caught the Beverly Circle crew eyes because Beverly Circle was a very... exclusive neighborhood. It hadn't occurred to Justice that she was staying in that house until now. This only made avoiding the Beverly Circle Crew harder.

Justice shook her head, "Thanks for the offer, but I'm fine." She said politely.

This didn't sit right with Alice. First the girl ignored them, hung out with losers, found Alice boring, and now she's rejecting to hangout with Alice and her friends. Once again Alice thought, WHO DOES THIS GIRL THINK SHE IS?

"I insist you join us," Alice said, there was now an impatience in her tone. Her fake smile was starting to weary, she was getting angry. "We wouldn't want you to make the wrong friends and the right enemies, now would we?" Alice questioned.

Justice wasn't sure what that last part meant. Was it a threat? Was it a promise? Before she could answer, the professor decided to actually start their lecture. As the lecture started Justice found it hard to pay attention. Her whole day so far was replaying in her head.

She looked over and saw that Alice was actually taking notes. She didn't expect the girl to actually take notes. The girl looked like the type to be on her phone during class, especially after their conversation.

The blonde wasn't paying too much attention to the lecture, she caught Justice staring at her. And instead of glaring at her, calling her out, or even cursing her, she simply winked and went back to taking notes.

Justice's eyes widen in shock from receiving a wink and finally started working herself.

The final class of the day was finally over, and Ichika was not looking forward to the car ride home. She'd caught a ride with Xander to school to show that nothing was wrong, but there was in fact something wrong. She'd tried to hide it all day, and the only person who she could talk about it with was Fallon. It felt like Fallon was ignoring her though.

Every time she saw Fallon, whether it was with the rest of the group, in class, or just passing her in the halls, Ichika felt like she wanted to walk up to the girl and cry her eyes out. She wanted to hug the girl as they both let their emotions show, but they weren't close.

Everyone always thought that the Beverly Circle was a close group, but they only hung out because of their parents. Especially Ichika, if it weren't for who her parents were she herself probably wouldn't hangout with them. She truly couldn't say that any of them were her true friends.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a voice from behind her the door of her open locker. Ichika closed her locker and was faced with a smiling Noah. She rolled her eyes at this.

"What do you want, Noah?" Ichika asked as she started walking down the long hallway. Ichika tried her hardest to not remember the night she'd cried on Noah's shoulder in one of his mother's restaurants. Luckily it was dark out, or else paparazzi would've been all over her. She was surprised that even though it was night, she hadn't found an article or anything in celebrity news about it.

This worried her, either she's just being paranoid, or someone is waiting for the right moment to drop it. She couldn't let her seemingly perfect relationship to the public be ruined. Ichika's father was partnered with Xander's mother in their oil business. The two were to be married and take over the oil business.

The only problem is that Ichika could careless about her absent father's oil business, and she was sure Xander could say the same thing. Ichika wanted to focus her future on fashion. She'd done a bunch of summer interning at big fashion industries all over the world during her summers, and she hadn't even graduated yet.

She already had one foot in the door, and so far it seemed like she had the talent.

"I just wanted to check on you." Noah told Ichika defensively. Ichika only began to speed walk after hearing that. She hated comfortations. "Slow down," Noah stopped her by grabbing her forearm gently.

Ichika looked at Noah's hand, then she looked at his face. She looked around and saw others snooping. She knew for a fact that this interaction would go around the school. "I'm fine," she hissed. "Now let me go!."

Noah stared at her with a glare for a while before letting her go. This was why he didn't check on his friends. He was never the type to comfort them anyways. Maybe it had been better if he'd dismissed her the night she came crying to him. He would have the ache in his heart to make sure the girl was okay.

He snarled, "I don't even know why I tried." And with that he was angrily walking down the hallway.

Ichika watched him feeling the tiniest bit of guilt. All he wanted to do was make sure he was okay. She doesn't blame him, if someone she considered a friend real or fake cried in her lap she'd want to check up on them too. But another part of her was angry at him.

How dare he? How dare he check me like that? During their small interaction, she felt cornered. She didn't want to talk to him about that. Her face twisted at the thought of it. The whole thought was embarrassing. She didn't even like crying in front of Xander, and they'd been together for basically their whole lives.

Ichika tried to not let the thoughts of Noah ruin her already horrible day.

Fallon waited for Alice outside of her car. She was currently scrolling through her instagram.

"I did it!" Alice exclaimed as she basically ran to the car in her heels. Fallon jumped, not expecting that and tilted her head in confusion. She was worried a bit though. Alice was almost never up to good.

"Did what exactly?" Fallon asked slowly. She had a fearful look on her face as Alice's smile only widen.

"I got that loser Justice to hangout with us later on today." Alice said with a squeal, except Fallon didn't reciprocate the same emotion as her. Alice stopped jumping up and down when she saw that Fallon had a serious look on her face. "What?" She unlocked the car and got in.

Fallon also got in, "I don't know," She started off with an aggravated tone. "Maybe it's because you invited Justice Andrews to hangout with us, and didn't ask any of us if that was okay." There was a bit of anger in her voice.

"Okay, voice down, or you're walking." Alice told Fallon in a stern tone. Fallon rolled her eyes at this, out of everyone Alice and Fallon were the closest and Alice wouldn't dare let Fallon walk. Also it wasn't a big threat, because she could always catch a ride with one of their other friends, or she could call her driver to pick her up. "And I don't see the big deal, she already lives in Beverly Circle."

"The big deal is that Demetrius doesn't like her. You could've at least asked him first." Fallon lectured Alice.

Alice groaned, Demetrius wasn't the boss of her. If she wanted to invite someone to hangout with them she could. She may have slept with the guy twice, but that didn't mean that she would let him control her. She was pretty sure in the sheets, she had as much power as he had, probably more. And that wasn't going to change outside of the sheets. "Well Demetrius doesn't tell me what to do, and I can do whatever I want. Not to mention someone has to lay down all of the rules and regulations for the bonehead."

And with that the conversation was over. Yet there was a tension in the car. Unlike Alice, Fallon cared about what Demetrius thought. She hated seeing him angry or frustrated.
