Self-Mutilation, otherwise known as Self-Harm is the action of intentional harming oneself. It is a global issue affecting millions of people and leading to countless numbers of suicides.
The ways people self-mutilate are numerous, and none of them should be taken lightly. Self-mutilation is a road many people go down to help numb the emotional pain or emotional numbness they experience and replace with physical pain.

Self-burning is the action of burning oneself. It is a form of self-injury that affects about 12.9 % of self-harming students today.
Self-Burning is something that can begin from watching it from movies, reading it in books, or friends who do the same. It is something that once you start, it can become a very hard habit to break.
Like other forms of self-mutilation, it is a way many choose to cope with their emotional distress or self-hatred.
Some individuals feel a deep-seated hatred for themselves and feel they deserve to inflict pain, so they choose to harm themselves.
Although self-burning can lead to serious damage, it is not considered suicidal behavior. Though not categorized as such, it is still a destructive habit and those who suffer from the habit need professional help.
Signs That Someone Might Be Suffering From Self-Burning Include:
• Wearing pants and long sleeves in warm weather
• Lighters being found among a person's belongings does not smoke.
• Low self-esteem
• Difficulty handling feelings
• Relationship problems
• Poor functioning at work, school, or home
Treating Self-Burning
Like all forms of self-injury, self-burning can be treated, along with the underlying issues causing the behavior.

Hypnosis and other relaxation techniques: may be helpful in reducing the stress and tension that often precede incidents of self-injury.
Medications: Such as antidepressants, low-dose antipsychotics, mood-stabilizers, or anti-anxiety medication may all be used to reduce the initial impulsive response to stress.
