Chapter 56

Laidra was right, Addafor was right, they were all right. Hazel made no acknowledgement that the twins were there. Though they spoke to her and held her hand. They reassured her that everything was going to be alright and that they would figure everything out. They had almost convinced themselves by the end of it.

They felt like they had done the right thing. THey did the right thing for themselves and for their nanna. They had stayed in touch with the fae as they were in the hospital room. They had snuck in through a portal Addamak created from the fae dimension. The twins wondered to Addamak why they didn't do that the night before but the reasoning was 'it took too much energy from me' .

Vansilla had to go and see her parents that afternoon, some sort of reassurance that she was still there and not up to any mischief whatsoever. She had tea with them in her parent's office and acted like the mature and proper lady she was expected to be, she was nothing but pristine in front of her parents. Now they had very little to distract them from reprimanding her for her improper posture.

The caileafaq's were with their children as well. Sylvester felt like a sixth wheel as he sat at the table where the royal advisors asked their kids about the human dimension. It was rather humorous to hear what the fae thought of the place, especially since he had lived there for some time now.

"A two roomed home? Surely that was rather crowded?" Laidra asked her children as they discussed Laylian and Sylvester's home.It had been a while since Laidra had stepped foot into a house which was that small. They do exist in the fae dimension, mainly more in the villages. Normal fae families had homes such as that though most often made the inside bigger than the outside, having built the houses themselves over a few years during their education.

"It was a little bit if we're honest." Laylian mumbled as she flipped through the book Tyrell had found when he was there, looking for any clue about the riddles on the walls. The book itself wasn't exactly straight forward, it was full of riddles and rhymes. They had just assumed it was to make it sound more like a story for children. The rhymes and rhythm made it easier and nicer on the ears. "But it worked well for just the two of us."

"Oh yeah how many nights did you sleep in your own house?" Acheron smirked and crossed his arms. Laylian opened and closed her mouth a few times before looking up and sending him a slight glare, but she couldn't help the smile which graced her lips. "Find anything?" He became much more serious , it was nice to joke but he knew that it wasn't' exactly the right time.

"Well not exactly..." Laylian trailed off, aware that her parents would be rather confused. The children had given them a few key details about what happened in the human dimension, they would have been there all night if they explained the whole situation to them, "I've found a few lines which could be attributed to why the place changed.Though it's to do with the gatekeepers, who we still don't know."

"Well ...what does it say?" Landso questioned with an intrigued expression. "We can't really work out the rhyme about the riddle or the riddle about -you know what nevermind that won't work what's the line?" Landso probably would have taken the book from his sister's hands if his parents weren't' there.

"alright alright i'll read it." Laylian cleared her throat. "No making fun of me if I stumble a few times." Her tone was stern as she positioned the book flat on the table and leaned above it." although you may think you are near the future is not yet so clear as you would expect to lose a dear one who is a servant to your fear. Change is in the air evolving something which was once fair , things you find which were not once there may be the cause of a scare." Laylian took in a deep breath. "The two must find the clue or be left behind, they cannot let themselves be blind as the world is not that kind. The call of the mundane will rid the earth of the pain , it will remove the dark stain and unite the dimensions with one lane."

The silence which followed was one of shock and confusion. Everyone in the room was trying to contemplate what the words meant. "It's slightly obvious isn't it?" Sylvester spoke up, most of the fae jumped at his voice. THey had forgotten he was even there. "If you take it line by line, word by word we should be able to figure it out. Though one thing stood out to me." Sylvester bit his lip, unsure about whether he should say what he was thinking. "Mundane..."

The older fae's eyes widened . What Sylvester was suggesting was something which had been on their minds for a little bit. They had considered it but they didn't put a lot of weight on the thought. It made sense. After all the questions that riddle would clear up so much for them.

"What does mundane say that is special?" Aceron frowned at the fact he was missing something. He knew the meaning of mundane, it was an adjective for boring things, normal things.

"Mundane means the normal, the everyday..." Laidra said to her children. "Humans are often considered to be that as they do not have the powers that the fae do." She fiddled with her fingers, she was uncomfortable talking about humans in such a way now that her daughter was in a romantic relationship with one.

"So the gatekeepers are human? But what did the other sentences mean? Is something else happening? Something worse?" Vansilla's voice made the fae jump once again, much to her delight. She had been sent back to the library after her dinner and decided to wait outside the door and listen in on the conversation.

"Van, if you heard what we said why ask?" Landso questioned with a small smile, he hadn't used his friends nickname in a while and it felt nice for it to pass his lips. "Though she has a point...there are many other lines which dont quite make sense.lose a dear one who is servant to your fear? What does that mean?"

Laylian and Sylvester froze as their eyes met. They knew what it was. They knew what the riddle meant. Lorraine and Oscar had taken Hazel to the hospital. The fear which the twins experienced when around their parents was something entirely differen to the fear that they experienced when they were in danger. Hazel's life was currently in danger.

"Kelso and Tyrell..."
