Chapter 54
"Girlfriend?" Laidra was bursting with so much emotion, her expression was struggling to decide which one to mimic. Her eyes screamed happiness whilst her mouth was in the shape of an 'o' from the shock she was feeling. "Laylian dear, i'm so happy for you! " She pulled her daughter in for another hug. She had decided to ignore the negative consequences which will come around because of it. It seemed that Laylian wasn't going to fit into the royal advisor's role at all at this point. It would be a lot of paperwork but after Laidra and Addafor ahd the discussions he had been considering having a talk with the royals, to change some rules.
"Wait you are?" Laylian asked, distracted as she was once again at arm's length from her mother. "Wait- no nevermind mother . I'm happy to what that but we're rather busy at the moment." Her head nodded towards the books which were scattered across the table.
"Busy with what?" Addafor asked for the sake of his wife. He had a brief explanation by Addamak but he wasn't quite sure how reliable it was or how thorough his brother had been. He walked over to the table and started to look at the titles of the books they were reading through. "Poisons and venoms? Why are you reading this?" He seemed incredibly panicked, there was an extremely slight tone of urgency to his voice. He didn't show those kidneys of emotions often and that's how they knew he was concerned.
"It's our grandmother sir." Tyrell spoke up to everyone's surprise. He had gotten slightly more comfortable in the presence of Addafor since they helped the two of them get out of the castle. "She's been poisoned...most likely." He cleared his throat in an attempt to clear his brain of the foggy emotions he was feeling., "But it's nothing like we've ever heard about in the human dimension...it wasn't...human."
"Oh my, poor children!" Laidra gasped as she sat herself down at the table. Vansilla, Landso and Acheron were all shocked at the way Laidra was acting. It didn't seem like her, they wondered what on earth had happened when they were away. They thought better than to ask now. "You should have come to us straight away . we know most of the inventory of the library as well as knowing tales of toxins from rumours and experience."
Her tone was somewhat bitter as she looked around the room and her eyes landed on Addamak . "it was an accident!" He raised his hands up in surrender. "How was i supposed to know that would happen?"His tone was defensive but he knew that he was in the wrong. He had done many things in the past, some on purpose and others not so much . He was the one who could have put a stop to many things but he decided not to. It was his decisions which got him into the mess that never seemed to go away.
"Now's not the time." Addafor was the voice of reason .Though his teeth gritted together. The teens felt a little left out if they were honest , they knew that they shouldn't be focusing on that but it had happened too many times now. The three of them clearly had some issues with each other .
"Mother." Landso said calmly. It managed to get her attention and put a small smile on her face. They were now all sat at the table except for Addamak, who preferred a rather big armchair. "Is there anything you would like to tell us? To make this ...arrangement easier?" He wasn't sure what to call it but arrangement seemed pretty appropriate.
Laidra's breath caught in her throat as she looked towards the two brothers. "I-I would say it's up to your father and Addamak...it's alright with me..." She received two nods front shoe she had mentioned, Addafor's being a little more hesitant. "Well...we have allahabad oen many things in life that we regret...things such as Addamak poisoning my sister-"
"We have an aunt?!" the three children said in unison.
"Had...well actually i'm not sure what she is doing right now...i haven't spoken to her in awhile, she may well still be alive." Laidra pondered . "if anyone would know then it would be Addamak, he was rather close to her." She gave him a slight teasing look. "Though not many people knew what they did ."
"And nobody will know." Addamak confirmed with a chuckle. "I am not totally sure that is what your son wanted to know. I say that we move on from the topic of our relationships and start to talk about poisons, we do have a life on the line" The twins were already back to reading the books which they had piled up. They were skimming the pages for things such as 'strange noises' and 'dark markings' . They hadn't found a lot, other than talk of bruising and it definitely didn't look like bruising.
"Of course." Addafor said in a much calmer tone, he had a tone of sympathy and pity. He felt sorry for the humans. They didn't get a very good first glimpse into the fae world, all the dimensions had negative sides. In the fae dimension it was mainly within the castle. "Now are there any particular....oddities which have occurred due to this toxin?"
The twins didn't really wish to speak about what they had been told. THey didn't exactly know the details, only what they were told by the fae who went to the hospital. Sylvester decided to speak up for them all. "There were dark markings all over her body, she was unconscious. It didn't seem like she was sleeping. But there was also an odd noise which seemed to come from her. It was similar to somebody clearing their throat. But it just kept growing louder."
Addafor's eyes widened as he jumped back up. "I don't' think that's a toxin!" he exclaimed as he jogged to the very back of the library and shoved some books away from the book end, behind the books there was a rather small black book. It looked completely insignificant, there was no title or anything upon the front to tell you what book it was. It looked like a small notebook. "Lets just hope i'm incorrect."
