chapter 52

Chapter 52

The five of them had to go through a security exit door in order to enter the hospital. It was a little bit risky as sometimes you would set off an alarm in some places by doing so. Luckily nobody was alerted to the fae entering the hospital. It was the first time any of them had been into a hospital, it was a rather odd experience.

The white walls hurt their eyes. Their noses burnt from the extremely strong scent of bleach and other cleaning supplies. They all kept extremely quiet, it was a little difficult to hide in a place where the walls were so white . The light reflected off every inch of wall which was showing , making hiding in the shadows near impossible. They were glad to see that there were hardly any nurses or doctors walking around the hallways.

From what they had been told the place was rather small, this meant there wasn't a lot of patients who needed to be supervised through the night. Unluckily for them Hazelw as one of the patients who needed to be supervised and checked on through the night.

It took them a few minutes to find the unit where Hazel was. They knew what all the signs meant and such after their years of reading. It was simply the layout of the hospital which was incredibly confusing. There were hallways which lead to nothing, lifts which went down to the car park instead of around the hospital and colour coded sections they didn't understand as there were no colours anywhere on the individual signs.

Once they found the correct hallway they all stood around the corner, keeping their eyes peeled for any signs of life. There was nobody in the corridor but they could hear a noise which sounded like a coffee machine being used. The five of them looked at each other and one by one walked down the hallway. Sylvester was in front because he could sense where to go. He was rather familiar with Hazel's energy and he could feel it better than Laylian could.

They entered the room where Hazel was staying as quiet as a mouse. Laylian and Sylvester thanked their lucky stars that the twins didn't go with them. Even they were tearing up at seeing Hazel int hesitate she was in. Though shock seemed to mask the sadness as their eyes trailed over her exposed skin.

Her blonde hair was thinner and so was her frame. Her skin was paler and they could see very dark circles under her eyes. It wasn't the only place that there was darkness though. All over her body was very dark spots , they looked like patches of just darkness. It was something which none of them had really seen before.

"What the-" Acheron started to whisper but was quickly shushed by Landso . It wasn't something that they could dwell upon at the moment, there was someone about twenty feet away or so so they had to keep as quiet as possible. Landso sent his brother a warning glare, receiving one as well. Laylian took out her phone and snapped a few pictures of the skin which was showing, it was unusual, therefore it might come in handy when figuring out what had poisoned her.

"Not human..." Sylvester sent the thought to the minds of the fae who surrounded him. They all jumped in surprise. "We should let them know we've found her..." Sylvester didn't want the mental image to be sent to anybody. He figured it would be much easier on the twins if they didn't see their nanna in this state. So he simply sent a message which read 'we found her'.

The message caused Kelso to jump in surprise, it spooked Ebony a little bit but she somehow knew who it was. Her breath caught in her throat and she coughed slightly a few times. "They've found her-" She told her twin who was looking at her strangely. "That was so strange..." It made Addamak raise an eyebrow. That boy was more talented then he let on. He thanked his lucky stars that Sylvester was on their side.

Back in the hospital room, they were looking around for more evidence. Vansilla had found a clipboard with the doctor's notes on it. None of the notes were anything interesting, though she made Laylian take a picture anyway. It was rather surprising to read that Hazel hadn't actually woken up at all since she had gotten to the hospital, it was something which scared even those who haven't met her.

They were getting ready to head back into the hallway, they had got what they came for and could figure out what it was. Though some sounds stopped them in their tracks. The sounds seemed to be coming from hazel though she didn't seem to have moved at all. The noise started to get louder and louder. It got so loud that they could hear running footsteps towards the room.

Sylvester panicked and held onto Laylian's hand, who in turn took the hand of her eldest brother and so on. They'd had a very quick and brief discussion about what would happen if they were caught. Though Sylvester led the entire thing. He didn't give them much of a choice, though even if he had they wouldn't know any different. He knew his own powers the best, from what they figured at least.

They were all still as someone entered the room, they went straight to Hazel And made sure she was alright. The noise sounded like choking and the fae would have done something to help but they didn't know what to do. Usually the fae were ahead of any illnesses or diseases which could cause anything majorly devastating to them. THey oculd create remedies or extra skin cells or whatever was needed in order to heal. Humans were not at all used to supernatural illnesses or toxins.

They felt like ghosts in the hospital as the nurse looked around Hazel, making sure always well. She lifted Hazel's bed up and talked to her a little bit, telling her what she was doing. Sylvester didn't appreciate that very much as it was rather distracting but he was sure it was to help Hazel in some way. The five of them were invisible to the nurse, they blended well into the shadows of the room. They watched as the nurse fretted around Hazel, the throaty noise halted as Hazel was sat up. She didn't make any movement of waking up.

The five of them were all coming up with different conclusions. Each and every one of them was unique and stranger than the next. Though they all agreed that it wasn't human and it was unlike anything the five of them had heard about. They just had to hope that one of the adults knew about it, or they could find a book on it. Or that their guardians were kind to them.
