chapter 4

Chapter 4

Lunch time was rather pleasant for Kelso and Laylian. Though Sylvester couldn't shake the tense feeling he had, this was obvious to Tyrell and it was something that bugged them all through the hour. Tyrell didn't want to ask in front of the others just in case it was something including Eden, Devin , John or Lily.

So as soon as they had a moment together Tyrell looked over to Sylvester, who pretended to be interested in his book but was actually trying to make sure they weren't being followed or listened to. Tyrll placed a hand on Sylvester's leg, which cause dhim to jump and his head to snap up.

"You okay? Tyrell asked quietly. It was a rather rhetorical question ut Tyrell wanted to see if he could get the truth from Sylvester, it was clear he wasn't okay. Sylvester's past was something Tyrell wasn't too educated about Sylvester's past, he knew that Sylvester was a dark fae and he wasn't treated well by the others in the other dimension. That was all he knew.

"Y-yes . I suppose" Sylvester said , stuttering over being caught in his stressed and irritated habits of benign too aware of his surroundings. "Something is off and i dont' know what it is. We've either forgotten about something or there's something glaring me int he face and i don't know what it is."

Sylvester was more angered by the fact he couldn't' place his finger on what was bothering him. Everything seemed, not alright but close to it. He was aware the prophecy still existed and Nero was still out there . As he looked at Kelso and Laylian doing work he wondered how they could act so cheerful and concentrate on work whilst there was darkness out there.

This was something kelso was also wondering as she talked to Laylian about their homework. They were talking about ancient medicine whilst thinking about the potential death of billions of humans at the hands of a dark fae. This in itself scared Kelso, it shouldn't be on their shoulders, but there are no superheroes in this life who would be able to help them.

Each of them were worried in some way or another. This wouldn't be something that goes away overnight and they all knew that, which is why they had made plans to go back to the place that afternoon. This time they were going to take Eden and Devin. They would have asked Dawn to come too but none of them wanted to put pressure on the woman to make the trip out there. Dawn may be healthy but it wasn't somewhere that was easily accessible.

Laylian had made good friends with Devin, both having a very unique ability to talk at ten miles an hour. It was at lunch where they had exchanged phone numbers, which kelso had to help Laylian with, and this is how they knew the meeting was going to happen after school.

"You're not going to be one of those people who text in class are you?" Kelso asked teasingly. The fae hadn't had much reason to use their phones since they were staying at the Jewlson household. Kelso knew it was partly because she and Tyrell were the fae's only contacts in their phone and partly because they didn't really know how to use it.

"No." Laylian said sternly before seemingly thinking for a while "no...that's not allowed is it? " To the shaking of Kelso's head she then continued "then no. I shall not use my phone in class...maybe." This caused the two of them to laugh as mischief shined in Laylian's eyes.

Their afternoon classes went really quick, they were distracted from their classes worrying about what was going to happen that afternoon. There was no way that their anxieties would lessen until this was over and they were home safe and sound. The place was beautiful but now that they know the general nature of the darkness which plagued the landscape the last time they were there, the place seemed a lot less welcoming.

Therefore once they went back to the Jewlson household and had something to eat they met up with Devin and Eden at the top of the street. It wasn't far from the cafe they had visited after the campaign trip and so they got some drinks to go, something to distract tem from the fear they felt.

"Is this such a good idea? I mean i knwo we cna't just stay at home and do nothing whilst this is happening but...what can we do?" Devin asked the group with doubt lacing her words. It was true, though it was something they all tried not to think about. They didn't have immense powers , what good could they do if someone were to attack them? They got lucky last time that Laylian was able to create a portal. They may not be so lucky this time.

"That kind of thought is what causes those kind of events remember devin?" Eden scolded her cousin as they continued to walk through the woods. "That's what grams always said anyway..."Eden trailed off as the thoughts of what their grandmother had told them swirled in her head. It was some simple and basic advice on how to keep the shadows at bay, though at that moment it seemed very complicated.

The two couples were walking side by side in a peaceful silence. The silence was becoming a little bit too much for Kelso , usually she was rather upbeat but she wasn't feeling too positive at the moment. Not in the mood for an encouraging speech either Tyrell spoke up "Devin what's your favourite animal?"

This caught devin by surprise by the sudden question but replied nevertheless "uh fox!" It didn't' take long for her to figure out that he was attempting to break the awkward silence. "What's yours Tyrell?"

It didn't take Tyrell even a second before he replied with "foxes are my favourite too! " This caused Sylvester's cheeks to darken just a little bit much to Tyrell's amusement. "I think they're rather adorable, wouldn't you agree Laylian?"

Laylian was attempting to keep in her chuckles "yes i must agree! Foxes and squirrels are so adorable!" Which caused Kelso's own cheeks to redden as she playfully nudged Laylian in response.

"well...I think that doves and eagles are rather loyal , beautiful and amazing." Sylvester said rather confidently which caused Everyone's head to turn to him. This didn't make him falter as he felt his confidence rising. "Isn't that right Kelso?"

Kelso had a big grin on her face as she beamed "yes i must agree! Very majestic they are!" Much to the confusion of the cousins the four burst out laughing. This caused chuckles to escape from Eden and Devin's lips as they had assumed the inside joke was a good one considering their new friends' reactions.

Now they just need to go to a magical place where they could potentially meet their deaths...
