chapter 39

Chapter 39

"So you're my uncle?" Laylian asked as they started to walk back towards Addamak's house. "As in you're my father's brother? Or were you just saying 'brother' like the humans used to? " The curiosity and happiness she was feeling at that moment managed to break the stony expressions he had held over the past few days. "Oh wait they don't do that anymore and you were in the human dimension. Father doesn't' seem the type to say 'brother' ."

Kelso smiled at the excited tone of her partner, she had missed the rambles which came from Laylian when she was interested in something or excited. Usually Kelso was more of a rambler. It was nice to see Laylian happy...it was nice so see Laylain in general.

They were all somewhat happy but the one who saw the change the most was Tyrell. He had known his sister well enough to know that she would have reacted much like he did. Though he could see the difference in Laylian, he had been with ehr for the past few days and it was such a pleasing change to see her happy and smile again. It wasn't a forced smile or forced happiness, it was genuine.

"Ah yes i'm your father's brother." Addamak chuckled at the excitement coming from the girl he had no time to get acquainted with. "As you heard there are many reasons why you hadn't heard of me sooner." He had no shame as he spoke. His voice was strong and bold , something his brother also had. "Though I do apologize for not introducing myself whilst i had the chance."

They had arrived back at Addamak's home. It looked much more welcoming yet much more rundown in the light . They could hear the water flowing nearby and it was such a relaxing sound. It had been a long while since Tyrell had heard the sound of rushing water. When he arrived in the fae dimensions there was no water nearby, this tells him that he was in another part of the woods. It left him to wonder how big it was.

"It's not much." Addamak said to them as he opened the door, inviting them all in. It was becoming a little crowded with two more people joining them. Though they would be able to make do with what they had. "But it's safe, and mostly private."Sylvester scoffed, this place isn't really private. Nothing in the woods was private. Dark fae could easily wrestle any information from the trees if they wanted to. "It's all we have for now, and I believe the trees are rather loyal to you." The comment was made directly to Sylvester.

"M-me?" Sylvester stuttered . He didn't expect to be addressed, nevermind be told that he has creatures loyal to him. "Why would they be loyal to me? All I've done is talk to them ..i even left them..." Sadness came to his tone as he realized who or what he left behind. The trees are like family to him and he just left them. "I didn't even say goodbye..."

He started to feel somewhat jumpy at the realization that he was back in the forest. Sylvester had accepted a few hours ago that he was in the fae dimension . It was a sudden realization that he was surrounded by creatures he used to talk to every day. Pangs of guilt hit his heart as he pondered on the fact that he had left them , without a proper goodbye.

"Ah you see my boy." Addamak patted Sylvester's shoulder. Sylvester hid the surprise of the words 'my boy' , it was something he wasn't addressed as ,ever. "The trees are loyal and understanding creatures. They are ...mostly unable to move themselves and so seeing people come and go isn't strange to them. You were a welcome visitor in the woods. They consider you family."

"I-okay what are we doing now?" Sylvester attempted to avoid the awkwardness and the red rushing to his cheeks. "I feel like we all...have the same amount of information?" The other teens nodded in agreement. They were all rather sick of hearing the story over and over again.

"Hang one one moment." Addamak said disapprovingly as they all sat in a circle , or a square with Addamak at one end. "I think it would be best if we all discuss this again. You do not know exactly what the others know surely!" He gave a rather big chuckle , once again reminiscent of Santa Claus. "Now let's start from the beginning-"

"I'm sorry Adam-" Kelso interrupted "-I mean, Addamak...I do not think that's necessary. We only need to discuss some things that we have found out recently." She rubbed the back of her neck , taking a mental note that she had to cut her hair soon. "We have only found a few new bits of information. It would be much more efficient."

"Very well..." Addamak seemed like a child who had been told something disappointing. "Well then let me sit here and listen to you. I am not sure what you all know...though i assume since you said you know most of what i told you, you were already rather well-informed." He thought it would be better to let the teens talk it out, he was slightly bitter that he couldn't give any new information . He liked to tell stories.

"Well..." Laylian started to say. The conversation was a rather short one. Most of what was discussed concerned how to activate the symbols in the place and what they mean. The origin story of the place and the splitting of the dimensions made some feel rather conflicted. It was true that the dark fae should not rule over the humans or the fae, but that shouldn't mean that the entire race suffered because of what Nero did.

"Well..." Tyrell trailed off after a while. "I feel like...our next step would be rather simple..." He heaved a sigh and rubbed his eyes . The atmosphere was one of the most peaceful it had been in a while with them all reunited . He knew it wouldn't' last long. "We should try and activate all the symbols in the human dimension."
