chapter 31

"What was that?" Sylvester asked Adam as they looked around the place, Kelso was looking into the water, making sure to keep a safe distance. Sylvester had a keen eye on her as she walked in front of him, he wouldn't let her be too close to Adam. Even though the two had known each other for quite a while, Sylvester would always be between them.

"Hmm? Oh ti's nothing." Adam waved off Sylvester's suspicious stare. "This place has been described to me many times, I was just ...i feel as though i've been here. Despite never actually being here." That was something that Kelso could understand, she had read many books and then visited the places which are mentioned. It is a rather wonderful dn unique feeling. Though Sylvester could not, he still struggled to read and write. His lessons had been postponed due to more important things.

Sylvester just sighed and walked to a corner of the place, some animals gathered around him, the animals that he had grown close to over the past few weeks. Adam watched him with curious eyes, he had never seen animals get so close to a dark fae willingly. It was something magic to behold.Adam was curious how this man in front of him could be a dark fae, though he also didn't want to know. He feared the man's rage could be extremely destructful. He was very close to his friends and guardians save anyone who dared to come between them.

It wasn't long before they decided to make the portal to the fae dimension, they all wanted to get it over with. They just wanted the security that they once had, they all had the feeling that it wouldn't be simple and so if they did it now, it would give them more time to do what they had to do.

They stood in front of a purple portal which was meant to take them to the other dimension. Kelso was rather hesitant to go in but the sight of it was very intriguing, she didn't know how close she could get to it but no matter what she wanted to be closer, she wanted to see each sparkle of glitter which was inside the portal, she wanted to know what it felt like . She was the only one there who hasn't travelled through a portal before so her curiosity was not matched.

Sylvester was not happy with the arrangement, there would be one or two moments where one of them would be alone with Adam , though he managed to suck up his anxiety . "I'll go first." He muttered and stepped forward. "Kelso please come straight after me." He didn't even look to see her reaction, his stern yet somewhat dead tone was enough to let her know how serious he was.

As he stepped through the portal he seemed to almost be absorbed into it , the ripple of where his body went through increased Kelso's curiosity and therefore she followed him. Adam huffed at the distrust front he dark fae but after looking right and left he also followed them into the portal, which immediately closed behind them.

As soon as Sylvester was on the other side he huffed, he was back in the same familiar forest that he had spent his entire life in. He almost felt like passing out from being there again, all the memories hurdled towards him like a ton of bricks falling on his head.

He couldn't dwell on that feeling for long , which was probably for the best, as Kelso stumbled through the portal and landed flat on her face. She spat out the dead grass as she looked up. Her eyes widened in wonder. It felt real to her at that moment, her face had gone so pale that Sylvester feared that she would be the one who passed out.

"Woah..." Sylvester had to pull kelso out of the way as he could see the colours of the portal start to shift. If he hadn't done so then Adam would have probably stepped on her. Kelso had a frown on her face as she looked around, not looking at the other two who had came with her. "This is it?"

Adam was also rather surprised at his surroundings, the last time that he was there the trees were lush and green , the sky was a clear blue and birds sung happily. "It has changed a lot since my time." It made Sylvester's eyebrows furrow, he had only ever known the forest like this.

"Your time must have been a very very long while ago." he mumbled as he rolled a stone with his foot."from what I know the forest has always looked this way, cold and da=ead." The chuckle that came from his lips held no humour and his eyes held paina s he continued. "And I've lived in them since I can remember."

"How peculiar." Adam said as he held his chin. "The dark fae must have really took a tole on the nature that lives here." This only made himself and Kelso more interested in Sylvester, Adam had known many many ill intentioned dark fae and Kelso had heard stories from Lilian about what the dark fae are supposed to be. Sylvester didn't fit the type at all.

"Yeah the dark fae kind of took over this place when they were cast out of the kingdoms." Sylvester muttered as he walked over to a familiar tree. Kelso stood beside him, for both of their sakes. She was still looking around, both mesmerised and disgusted by the state of the forest. "Hello there."

"What are you talking to?" Kelso had seen sylvester communicate with many things such as the birds and the animals in the place. He had regular conversations with Ebony as well, something which was rather humorous to watch. She couldn't see any animals even close to them.

"The tree." He acted like the response was one which someone would hear every day, to him it wasn't unusual. He talked to trees a lot in his spare time . They weren't the nicest of company as they preferred to talk amongst themselves but the younger trees were more likely to talk to him.

"right..."Kelso elongated the word as she spoke and looked around. She turned to Adam with a strange look on her face, which he shrugged at. He was extremely interested in seeing what this boy could do and what effect he could have on nature. "Does the tree have a name?"

She received a scoff in return but that scoff didn't sound very genuine as Sylvester turned so that she would definitely not be able to see the blush which was appearing on his face."...maybe." Before he continued to chat with his childhood friend, the main topic of discussion being what direction Lilian had went in.
