Chapter 20
They were missing something, they had spent practically all of Sunday looking through the pictures and figuring out exactly what the symbols are and possible objects which could be sacrificed to the water.
"Okay so there's eight symbols," Tyrell said more to himself than the others. "We know that there is an eye, a book, a heart, a tree, a key, a bird, a sword and a house..." The hope was leaving the room as the list went on. "We activated the eye by an eye fo the needle falling into the water, so it doesn't need to be the actual thing."
"Thank goodness." Sighed Laylian as she rolled over on Kelso's bed, her hair was a right mess. She had been running her hand through her hair allahabad ay and it showed rather well. "But is there a wrong way to go? We saw other things go into the water and touch it but nothing bad happened...could we just throw a whole bunch of assumptions in and just assume we're safe?"
"I doubt it." There was a mutter from the corner of Tyrell's bed as Sylvester hugged his knees. "What fell in the water came from the place, we don't know what will happen if an unusual object fell in. I'm not sure if the fae would have waited this long if it was so easy." There was a slight pout on his face as though the fae were the one to blame for this, but no one really knew who to blame for the place other than the reason for the splitting of dimensions.
"Yeah." Kelso entered the room, still drying her hair. "Do you think that after all this si over...if there is no reason for the dimensions..that the humans and fae would live together?" The room grew silent, it was something that none of them had considered. What would their lives look like if there was only one dimension? If magic didn't separate them from their home?
"I would say that's a bit of wishful thinking..." Though their minds were buzzing with the possibilities Sylvester tried not to get his hopes up. "Though the world will definitely be different. I'm not sure how different it would be."
"welp...Now i have that to think about..."Laylian stood up from Kelso's bed and started to gether her things. "I should probably head home," There was a sad noice that came from Kelso as she gave Laylian a hug.
"Wait one sec!" Tyrell scrambled to get up "can i come over for a few? I think i left my textbooks at your house and i need to read a chapter for tomorrow." There was a few nods of silent agreement as Tyrell rushed to get hsi jacket and shoes on. Laylian was off to get her uniform and to have a bath before school in the morning. She would use the bath at the Jewlson household but she didn't want to use up all the water. Part of living in the human dimension was using her powers as little as she could, save for the first few days.
Sylvester had all that he needed at the Jewlson household, he had a shower that morning and Laylian would bring over his uniform for him. Though he wanted an excuse to go with them , he didn't really have one. "You won't be long will you? It's getting dark." Kelso fiddled with the string off one of her hanging dreamcatchers.
"Uh, i'll wait for Laylian to be finished. I don't really want to...walk alone in the streets at night." Tyrell walked over to the pile of books at the end of his bed and picked up a random notebook . "i'll write the notes over there so i can have some free time before bed, don't worry little squirrel."
As Laylian and Tyrell started to walk downstairs they could hear some quiet music. They thought it would be a rather good thing to let Kelso and Sylvester get to know each other more. As well as themselves getting to know each other. However it wasn't a lie that Tyrell had left his text book over at the fae's house. He had forgotten that the reading had to be done for monday.
"Lets just pray that they don't just have music on the entire time." Tyrell told Laylian who chucked a little bit. There were some human customs that she still wasn't accustomed to and she was hoping to interrogate Tyrell about some of them. "So what do you want to talk about?"
"Well relationships of the human kind are high on the list ." Laylian moved to the other side of Tyrell so that she was no longer closest to the road. "Though I do not know you very well and you do not know me much at all. So i suppose...both of those things?" Tyrell gave a humm of acknowledgement as they reached the fae house.
They had stopped for a moment, they had heard a noise coming from the bushes but it was easy to brush off as Laylian's next door neighbour. Though they felt like they were being watched. It wasn't an uncommon feeling for the two of them since the event in the place.
"Relationships are complicated, it depends on what kinds of relationships and who with." The two of them walked upstairs and to Sylvester's bedroom. "If you're talking about family relationships i'm sure that it's the same as the fae, like mother and father, sister and brother." Laylian nodded as Tyrell had his back to her but Tyrell continued anyway whilst getting Sylvester's uniform out of his wardrobe. "Romantic relationships...are different depending on the people i guess. Usually it's meet, date , propose and get married. A little bit cookie cutter i guess."
"Oh so it's pretty similar to the fae society then." Laylian nodded as she started to head towards her room. "Though, it would have been a bit different for me...given my status." A grin started to creep on her face at the thought of being like other fae.
It took her about ten seconds to get from Sylvester's room to hers. The doors were about five steps away from each other. All seemed normal, nothing in her room had been moved but she could still feel eyes watching her. She walked to her curtains that she had left open and hastily closed them. She felt some peace at the action but as she walked towards her wardrobe to get her own clothes out, she didn't expect for Tyrell to be hastily pushed into her. Both of them falling into the wardrobe.
