22. Epilogue

"How's your first day at school, Lily?" Her mother asked as she dropped the bag and climbed onto the stool. The smell of fried chicken is so good and the 3 dishes set for lunch on the kitchen counter made her mouth drool. Pad Thai - yayy!!

"It's okay,"

"Yeah? Have you made any friends yet?"

She shook her head. "Not that many. They look at me all weird,"

Her mother turned away from the stove with a gasp. "Do they? Maybe because you're so pretty?"

Lisa smiles down shyly. "Noo...I don't think that's it,"

"Well, it could be! I don't see any other reasons -"

"That's cus you're my mom. You're being biased,"

"Ahh...have you been learning new words again?" The elder squinted a little.

Lisa nods in excitement. "Bias. To feel or show inclination or prejudice for or against someone or something,"

"My baby's too clever these days - I feel like I should join you in school!" Lisa giggled at the absurdity. "So tell me about your friends - what are their names?"

"I can only remember a few..." She looks up, trying to recall. "There's Minnie and Eunbi - they're in my class. They sit in front of me. Sunmi unnie helped me find the girls' room so she's my friend too. And Hanbin oppa showed me the teachers' office so yeah, I guess he's my friend too. Oh, and the boy - Jeon Jungkook. He talked to me the most - he said he lives next door,"

"Oh, he does? I didn't see any boys when I sent the cookies last week. Is he in your class too?"

Lisa nods. "He sits right behind me. And we got on the same bus and sat together. Mommy, can I ask something?"

Her mother switched off the burner and took a plate-full of fried chicken towards the counter. "What is it, baby?"

"Have you ever feel like you're someplace else? Like...you're here. But your heart feels weird, like it's not where you are,"

"Do you miss home?" Her mother's concerns are reflected in her eyes.

"No, no, not like that! That boy...Jungkook...it's weird - whenever I looked at him or when he talked to me, it's like I'm in a different place. Like I've seen him before but I don't know where,"

"Maybe you had a deja-vu,"

"What's a deja-vu?"

"Mmm...I'm not really sure. They said you'll feel it because it's happened before - probably in a dream or something like that,"

Lisa makes a mental note to search up the word in the dictionary later as she nods slowly.

"Do you like him?"

"No!!" The word flung out so quick and loud that her mother jumped a little.

"Okay...I'm just checking -"

"I mean...he's nice. He helped me read a few Korean words that I didn't understand - so I guess he's nice,"

Her mother nods and Lisa could see the caution on her face. "Daddy said no boyfriend until you're seventeen -"

"What - no! What boyfriend - eww - I don't want him as my boyfriend - I've only met him like, 7 hours ago!" She snorted and got down to pick up her bag. She heard her mother's small hums and laughter as she turned to go upstairs. "It's sixteen by the way - not seventeen,"

...

The sun is up and has now set its fresh rays in and onto her husband's face, lighting half of it with golden shades of yellow - her favourite color. Lisa smiled as he turned away and face her instead - his arms flailing unconsciously in reach of her waist as he snuggles his head on her shoulder.

He's just too adorable in the morning - she can't help but run her fingers through his soft hair, earning a soft groan from the man. God, I love him so much...please let us stay together for a long time and after.

Her gaze shifts to the sliding door, then the walls that are still somewhat unfamiliar to her. They had just painted the room misty green - and it looked so different than the dusty white they had when they first moved in. Finally, the house is fully done. Finally, they get to sleep in their house for the first time.

The days had felt nothing short of magical since she ran from the airport and showed up to his doorstep. The 5 months of being apart had felt more and more like a bad dream now, but she knew better than to wipe it away forever.

It was necessary. She understood that. She had walked the longest she's ever walked - from his car to his apartment. When she finally reached, the first place she went into was his studio. The slow steps she took as her life and love crumbled into pieces - lingering between the console, to his hanged guitars, the drums and his computer.

She was careful not to overstep all the cables - but all she wanted was to scream and trash the place down. She wanted to tear all the notes in there, as if it would somehow make the pain disappear. Those with her words written down...it was all for him. In between those bars were the words she had said only to him. How could she meant so little to him now?

Nevertheless, she walked out leaving the place untouched. It broke her to pack all her stuff - and she had so little time to do it - but she did it anyways without a single tear shed. She took only what she desired - leaving almost everything that had been bought for her by him. She checked into a hotel for a couple of days...only called her cousin once she's done crying her heart out.

And by the time she's done breaking down, she's somehow reminded of her love. Her love...he was the kindest. He was the most beautiful when he smiles, and most charming when he's focused. He was funny, and he was clumsy. He truly loved her, he really did. He was cocky and sometimes selfish, but he has his reasons.

He was impulsive too. It's shown in a number of times - his mumbling mess whenever he's nervous, his outrageous behaviour of walking out from his parents when they're worried about him moving to Seoul. And how could she forget - his blatant anger at his own best friend for trying to calm her down.

Yes...the Jungkook she knew were a lot of things...but he wasn't cruel and he wasn't inhuman. She learned that he would always get excited all too quickly - like when he came back and said he wanted a tattoo, just because his Yoongi hyung got them and showed it to him 2 hours before. He was like a child when he does that, but Lisa was never annoyed. If anything, it made her fell for him even more because he would always put her first once he realized it.

And this...what about this? Was this caused by his impulsiveness too? She wasn't sure, but she felt so much like running back to the time when everything made sense. Run back to where they first started - to the love she felt around them. Run back to the ones who had somehow and someway helped them keep their love in tact. Those who meant a lot, but had slowly been forgotten.

She didn't want to forget. And she didn't want him to forget. It scared her the most to think that one day, she'll be nothing more than just a shadow to him. He was her dream - her everything. And he made her the happiest throughout these years. Lisa knew that she'll probably won't matter much to Jungkook then, but the weight of the love she's carrying was just too heavy and she needed to pass them through.

So she ran back to where they first started. And she's glad she did. Because otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to sleep next to him now. She wouldn't be wearing this beautiful diamond ring gifted by her love with promises of a lifetime. She considered herself so lucky to have met him, to be able to feel this unconditional love for him.

It wasn't hard to love him. It wasn't something that was earned by choice - the love was just there and she couldn't switch it off! She knew she couldn't be as happy without him...but she just needed time to decide when they went to Busan. She already did her part - leaving trails in the hopes that he'll remember the good people and the good times they had. But for some reason...when he found her back...she felt a little overwhelmed.

So she decided to take some time - maybe think about it when she was back with her family. But that song...it reminded her of the first song he ever made. It was for her, and he did it without any help. She cried again that night. And when she got to the airport, her anxiety hits her like a giant wave in the middle of a storm. It's so ridiculous, she thought.

They both loved each other dearly, unselfishly even. He made a mistake and he regretted it - trying his best to fix it. Why would she need to run anymore? The future's uncertain, of course - but in that moment, she knew she'd choose him over and over again. There might be pain, but there's more love to overcome it -

"Good morning, baby," His voice interrupted her thoughts and Lisa looks down to Jungkook's sheepish smile.

"Morning," She smiled back, kissing his forehead. "Sleep well?"

He snuggled closer to her chest. "So well," He grinds his hips on hers, and she smirks - already knowing where this is going.

"Don't you have to go meet Lee Hi and her manager today?"

He started kissing the bare skin on her chest. "Not until noon. And you're coming with me,"

"Hmm? Why?"

"She wanted to meet you," He pushed himself up and hovers on top of her. "She wanted to meet my love -" He leans down and kissed her lips. His eyes are heady with lust, and she felt herself drowning in them. "The one I made that song for,"

His breathy voice brought her in a trance, filled with love and desire.

"I'm so happy I don't have to search for you on the bed anymore,"

Lisa smiled warmly, welcoming the magic of his words and the kisses on her body.
