Epilogue {Finale} // A Thousand Years
I apologize if this chapter sucks :D
but i tried my best so that's that.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The chapter is obviously much longer than the song (which is in the media section above), so it would be best if you could find a way to pause it in between sections!
I would like to thank some of my most supportive fans briefly, since they are what has driven me to finish this book!

IF I MISSED YOUR NAME I'M SORRY I HONESTLY LOVE ALL OF Y'ALL
Also, small little warning, there might be some sentences that sound absolute wack because I wrote them at 3 a.m. when i was high on life
Loneliness is a remarkably indefinite feeling, including the methods it takes for the being to partake in the emotion. For instance, being locked away in solitude for years or feeling 'trapped' in a room full of unsought people are two ways that equivalently result in your mental health spiraling into disrepair.
The latter statement appeared to be Lux Bonteri's predicament for the hundredth time this evening.
Banquets were often a taboo subject for the senator. Gatherings, parties, and celebrations weren't something Lux willingly participated in recently, yet here he was, sitting at a crowded dinner table.
His emotions were far too confusing and complicated for even himself to comprehend. One moment, he could be panicking from claustrophobia and the close proximity between him and so many lifeforms, then the next he felt more abandoned than a sunken ship in the middle of an ocean. Bipolar was too light of a term to be used, quite frankly.
If it was up to him, the senator would be back on the balcony of his apartment, listening to a slow-paced song and allowing the brisk air to cleanse his distraught mind.
It hadn't been up to him, however. Newly-elected Chancellor Organa had insisted on the banquet being dubbed as mandatory, due to the fact that they would be discussing crucial matters and celebrating their most recent feats.
Saying that Lux was present was admittedly an overstatement. While his physical frame was sitting in an overly-cushioned chair, barely nibbling on a slice of bread, his mind and soul couldn't be farther from the hall.
"Inconceivable compromises have been arrived at recently, as many of you may know," Bail declared, his words hollowly echoing through Lux's ears before fading away. Similarly to a distracted teenager in school, the senator wouldn't be able to replicate the phrase if the teacher had requested him to. "The new information we possess proved to be just as persuasive as we have hoped. I am delighted to announce that the annexation of the Republic and the Separatists will soon begin to commence."
Loud cheers rang out through the dining hall. Multitudes of senators that had previously displayed worn and exhausted personalities had shifted into ones of pure excitement. This was precisely what they had been striving towards for years. Now, after staggering amounts of fighting and effort, they would be able to rest peacefully at night.
Lux wished that he could say he was one of those senators that rejoiced. Make no mistake, he was relieved that the war was finally over, but his lack of attentiveness made it difficult to comprehend what the chancellor was saying. Instead, he half-heartedly faked a couple of cheers and wore his most convincing fake smile.
"For the Republic!" Bail toasted, lifting his champagne glass to the sky with a pearly-white smile. Others echoed his words, their voices ranging from high-pitched feminine ones to gravelly tsking of an alien language.
Everything would have played out fine if this had been all that had been discussed. Despite Lux's dismay, Padmé spoke up, tentatively curling her fingers around the stem of her glass in anticipation. "May I add to the toast, Chancellor Organa?"
Bail politely nodded and flashed her a wink.
"To Ahsoka Tano..."
Yep. There it was. There was the breaking point for Lux. He had predicted his survival throughout the night, but those three words were already promising a different course of thoughts.
"...the bravest and most strong woman I've ever met. She sacrificed herself to not only obtain this information, but to save thousands of lives from the Jedi Order, and protect us from Palpatine. Without her, I can guarantee that more than half of the people currently sitting at the table would be dead," Padmé continued, pride sparkling in her eyes as she rattled off compliments about the Togruta.
"To Ahsoka Tano!"
Lux's gaze flickered down to his drink, ultimately deciding to keep it waist-level instead of raising it to a toast. Selfish... yes, that was a brilliant word to describe him. He was selfish for wishing she hadn't saved the galaxy. He was selfish for wishing that she was instead wrapped safely in his arms, miles away from the burial chambers.
That's all that it was though- wishing. Thoughts, prayers, and cries could only get their relationship so far. It would never be enough to resuscitate his beloved Togruta.
"T-to... Ah-Ahsoka," he stammered, his tongue tripping over the words that used to flow like honey from his mouth. To anyone who was paying close enough attention, visible shakes racked through his body as his breath grew ragged. A quivering hand brought the glass to his lips, which greedily parted to let a steady stream of the liquor trickle into his mouth.
The carbonated beverage was enough to glaze over his craving for intoxication, but the alcohol never came close to numbing his throbbing mental pain.
'I'll be with you 'till the end of the line'.
Those words, the very ones that had been viciously cycling through his head, were tearing him apart ligament by ligament. Ahsoka had held firm to her promise, just in a different way than intended.
Ahsoka had been with him until the end of her line. She was even there spiritually as she died, when she told him that she'd always love him before collapsing Exegol.
The end of Lux's line was near, as well. He could feel the tense electricity in the air that was sending his nerves skittering off the edge. Every day, a small shard of his broken soul withered and died. By now, there wasn't much for it left.
"-Lux? Are you feeling alright?" Riyo Chuchi questioned in concern, her trademark smile gracing her features. The Onderon senator nodded apologetically and mumbled a string of incoherent words. Upon the realization that his response wasn't assuring enough for the Pantoran, he cleared his throat and slid out of his chair.
"I'm going to get some fresh air," he murmured, shakily lowering his half-drank champagne down and excusing himself. A couple of familiar senators, pointedly Padmé, watched him shuffle away in curiosity, but nobody bothered to disturb the distraught senator.
Walking to the balcony of the banquet hall required him to exert much more strength than necessary. Lux staggered around for a moment, then slowly eased his frail frame against the cold stone of the building. Chills began to wave through his body, given that he didn't have the body mass to shield his systems from the frigid air.
A delicate breeze danced across his face, cooling the rebellious teardrop that trickled down his cheek. Nowadays, onlookers found it difficult to determine when Lux was actually crying or not. His eyes were always rimmed in red, and the dark, sunken circles around them surely didn't help.
Despite not having a strong connection to the Force, the back of his mind tingled with the warning of a nearing presence. Since this was an abnormal occurrence, his gaze nervously flitted about in attempts to identify the source.
Don't cry, my dear.
If he had the strength to, a frightened jump would've ensued from the scare. However, given that he would've collapsed upon landing, Lux settled for tensing his muscles. He knew that voice. It was one he hadn't heard in years.
"Mom...?" He cautiously called out, but nobody answered. The senator shook his head, writing the voice off as a figment of hallucination, but the eery presence never left him.
Your love for her is strong, hmm?
Lux didn't even want to question what was going on at this point. This was unmistakably his beloved, late mother's voice. "That obvious, huh?"
I don't want to see you in this state, dear. Think of the words I sang to you as a child. They got me through the heartbreak of losing your father. They can get you through your heartbreak, as. well.
He couldn't help but scoff in disgust. "You think that singing is going to make all of this pain go away? That it will cure my crippling emotions?"
Trust in me, Lux. It always had a way of picking up the scattered pieces.
"I can't do this," Lux half-mumbled and half-cried, eyeing the ledge of the balcony. "The song, Ahsoka..."
When he received no further response from the spirit of his mother, the conclusion that she wasn't changing was apparent. With a reluctant sigh, Lux allowed his eyelids to flutter shut and parted his lips.
"Heart beats fast,
colors and promises.
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?"
Visions of Ahsoka danced across the dark Coruscant sky, intermingling with the twinkling stars and artificial lights. She was so beautiful... so brave... she was so much more than he could ever hope to be.
"But watching you stand alone...
all of my doubt
suddenly goes away somehow.
One step closer..."
Lux staggered to the edge of the balcony. Each day was a living hell for him without her. He hadn't even realized it was possible to become attached to someone so fiercely, but then again, this was Ahsoka he was talking about. The Togruta left a trail of hopes and stardust everywhere she went. It would be so easy to join her right now, to end his endless misery...
"I have died everyday,
waiting for you.
Darling don't be afraid,
I have loved you
for a thousand years.
I'll love you for a thousand more."
In the end of the day, Lux knew that his existence in this timeline didn't affect their love. He would always find his way back to the light of his life, whether their story would be one of a senator and a Jedi or one of a beautiful queen and her farm boy. Not even death would be able to keep the dyad apart.
"Time stands still.
Beauty in all she is.
I will be brave.
I will not let anything, take away
what's standing in front of me.
Every breath,
every hour has come to this.
Lux was born to love Ahsoka. Without her, his life was lucidly desolate. There was just something about her that could bring color to a person's entire life, even if it was only for a few minutes. What was he without her shine? A soulless corpse?
"One step closer~
I have died everyday
waiting for you.
Darling don't be afraid,
I have loved you
for a thousand years.
I'll love you for a thousand more..."
~
Howls of laughter reverberated through Ahsoka's montrals. Even a large grin, displaying her elongated canine teeth, wore its way into her features. She hadn't felt so elated in such a long time, and evidently neither had the clones.
"What happened to our little Ankle Biter, eh?" Wolffe remarked, sizing up the Togruta keenly. "Tiny pup ain't so tiny anymore."
"Nah. She's still just a little kid," Jesse taunted. At this statement, silence rippled throughout the other clones and the atmosphere became tense. All eyes slowly traveled up from their drinks or conversation partner and shakily glanced at the Togruta, waiting for her to explode on the clone.
Ahsoka didn't even bat an eye. With a steady, gravelly voice, she snarled menacingly, "Bal gar're shi a verd ibac's about at ve'ganir his sheb'ika brokar." A snarky smirk toyed with the corners of her lips and her eyes widened maniacally as she turned to face the clone.
(Mando'a for "And you're just a soldier that's about to get his butt beat.")
Jesse's comrades weren't sure to be more petrified of the threat or the fact in itself that Ahsoka spoke perfect, and terrifying, Mando'a. Each were horrifying in their own element.
"I'm s-sorry," he sputtered. "It was just a joke, I swear."
The Force-sensitive rose a marking suspiciously, though after a few moments her muscles relaxed and her facial features grew softer. Her eyes twinkled in amusement as she teased, "Were you scared of a 'little kid', Jesse?"
"Absolutely not. I don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about," he nervously chuckled, redirecting all of his attention to his glass to avoid eye-contact with the Togruta. Several clones outright laughed straight in his face, while others managed to minimize their mocking to snickers and quiet remarks.
"So, boys, what do ya say we head on down to the training rooms and..." her voice cut off abruptly as pain tore through her mind and chest. With a soft groan, she doubled over in disconcertion, burying her head in her hands. Chills racked through her body alongside the pain, freezing her to the heart.
"No, no, no," she mumbled incoherently, shaking her head in disbelief. One of her closest bonds was being harshly severed, and it was taking a toll on both her mental state and her body.
"Anakin?" She questioned to no one in particular, keeping her voice lower than a whisper. The Togruta ventured to their Master-padawan bond and tested the connection, but it held fast. He wasn't the issue.
Oh no... Ahsoka came across the realization of what was occurring.
"LUX!" She yelled in horror, springing from her bar stool. After tossing a couple credits onto the counter, she was sprinting out of 79's and into the bustling streets of Coruscant. Speeders and taxis whipped by in the traffic lanes, but that didn't phase the Togruta in the slightest. In one snap, a smokey black cloak was encasing her body again and she was on the run. Her feet gracefully leaped from speeders' bumpers, advertisement billboards, and finally building rooftops. Finally, after deciding that she was on a straight-shot path, she settled into a dead sprint across the skyline of Coruscant.
Her mystic appearance and ominous cloak attracted the attention of occasional onlookers, but the Togruta disappeared from each setting just as quickly as she came. Her legs were churning at seemingly the speed of light as she darted across rooftops with only one target in mind: Lux.
The sound of beautiful, pain-riddled singing began to guide Ahsoka when she drew closer. The voice was deeper than she remembered it... somehow weaker, as well, but it unmistakably belonged to her senator. A chilly gust of the Coruscant air nipped at her heels and tugged on her cloak, but her attention never strayed from him.
Lux was about to do something reckless. She could sense it.
"And all along I believed
I would find you.
Time has brought your heart to me.
I have loved you
for a thousand years.
I'll love you for a thousand more."
With a final, graceful bound from the end of a rooftop onto a new one, Lux came into view. His frail, thin frame was staggering around a balcony in a fashion that shattered Ahsoka's heart into a million pieces. She wasn't sure if she had ever seen someone look so lifeless and devastated. In fact, it even killed her some.
The Togruta's feet gently made contact with the balcony's pavement and she shed her cloak.
"One step closer~"
Ahsoka fought valiantly to push back the tidal wave of emotions that were coursing through her veins. This was it. This was finally the moment she would be reunited with the love of her life, hopefully not only for now, but forever. Her feet tentatively shuffled forward, threatening to collapse from exhilaration and fright.
However, in her mental absence, Ahsoka hadn't taken notice of the senator slowly teetering to the railing of the balcony and leaning over it.
"One step closer~"
With these finals words, Lux summoned all of the remaining energy he possessed into pushing himself over the edge. A small smile of relief broke across his weary, tear-stained face as he felt the ground leave from beneath him, only to be replaced with the icy Coruscant air. It was finally over. The pain. The suffering. The endless nights of screaming, crying, and plaguing nightmares. The horrifyingly lonely days without Ahsoka.
(@VanillaChip101. I have spoken.)
"NO! LUX!!!" Ahsoka screeched, digging her heels into the ground and pushing off of them. Despite her efforts, her fingertips barely missed his, and her words were stolen from her mouth and carried away by the wind.
The way Lux's body limply sailed through the night air was enough to break Ahsoka's mental stability. This was all her fault...
Without giving herself time to rationalize or strategize, the Togruta swan-dived off the ledge and after Lux. If she didn't save him and he was to die, she was going down with him.
A sharp breeze tore across her body and roughly slamming against her lekku and montrals, deafening her senses. Even tears were streaming down her cheeks from the abrasion of air against her eyes. None of this mattered, however; Lux was on the brink of death and only she could save him.
"Well, this is quite a scene of irony, no?" Ahsoka grunted to herself. Just a few hours ago, Padmé had been insisting that the galaxy could survive without her for the night. That had been true from a certain perspective. Although, to Ahsoka, her entire galaxy was in dire need of her rescuing.
The Gray Jedi was rapidly gaining momentum. The distance between her and Lux was only a couple of meters now, but according to her calculations, the oncoming traffic would impact him moments before she could reach him. Then, of course, she would follow soon thereafter with the speeder a lane below them that would crash into her. Encountering death was seemingly occurring on the daily for the Togruta, and, being completely honest, it was getting on her last nerve.
In one lucky twist, Lux's body had been spun just right to where he caught sight of Ahsoka. The senator blinked rapidly, rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand, and even pinched his dehydrated skin, but everything pointed to him being alive and the Togruta being incredibly real.
His lips parted in shock, then began to jumble together a string of words that were carried away on the wind. Ahsoka felt even more miserable at his antics: Lux was painstakingly realizing that the person he loved was indeed alive, but his recklessness would result in them being torn apart again.
At their full extent, their fingertips were millimeters apart. Tears were cascading down Ahsoka's face as she strived harder, but she knew her fate was sealed. The speeder was mere seconds away from slamming into Lux and crushing his delicate figure.
She knew that these would be their last moments together. He would die, and she would either die and remain with the Ones or be revived in some way. She was truly beginning to hate this way of life with a passion. Why was she the only one that could never be with the ones that made her happy?
Her eyes slowly traveled up to meet his. They held the same lack of faith and returned her gaze weakly. He knew his time had come to an end. Hopefully having Ahsoka beside him for the last few moments would soften the harsh blow.
The Togruta forced a disheartened smile onto her lips and delivered a firm nod. If this is the hand that the Force was going to deal her, then so be it. It totally wasn't like her life was a train wreck that had caught on fire or something. Perhaps the scene needed an additional tornado or an intergalactic plague.
Every sense she had, Force-sensitive or not, was screaming at her to get out of harm's way. Even precursive pain was burning throughout her veins and ligaments, increasing her misery by tenfold.
Three...
two...
The headlights of the speeder were blindingly bright at this point, but it was still not enough to mask the brilliant glow that was swirling around the pair. The whirlwind ensnared the pair, effectively spinning the two out of control and removing any space between them. Ahsoka and Lux crashed into each other, their faces dangerously close and their arms wound around the other's waist. Though it took much effort, the Togruta forced herself to rip her attention away from the Senator and to the incredible opportunity she had been presented.
Within milliseconds, electricity crackled around and through the dyad, which was followed by their bodies fading into thin air.
Ahsoka shrieked in agony as insufferable pain shot up her right leg. A series of deafening cracks rang through the air, undoubtedly resulting from the splintering of every bone in the limb. In her oblivion, she hadn't noticed that she had been the one that was spun closest to the oncoming speeder, and her extended leg had taken the brunt of the impact right before she Force-teleported.
The two materialized on a plush, grassy mountainside easily recognizable as Alderaan. How they got there was beyond the senator, but at this point, seemingly anything was possible. Their bodies rolled across the turf in a single jumble of flailing limbs, finally skidding to a halt after several tumbles.
Lux instantly shot up from the ground and shuffled to Ahsoka's side. All the way up her right leg was battered, bloody, and beat in, as well as her knee being twisted at an unnatural angle. Her bone was even protruding at the joint, producing a heavy stream of blood gushing from the wound.
"Ahsoka! Can you hear me? Are you alright? Are you hurting? Well, that's a dumb question. Of course, you're hurting. Where all are you hur-" Lux was panicking. He moved to place a hand on her leg, but immediately snatched it away in case it would inflict further pain.
"Nothing I can't handle," Ahsoka shrugged nonchalantly, though the incredible paleness of her skin and the way her face was scrunched in discomfort was enough for Lux to see through her words.
"I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry Ahsoka... this is all my fault," he cried, leaning forward and cupping her face in his hand.
"Shh," she silenced him. "This isn't your fault, Lux. I'm responsible for my own actions. But what were you thinking?"
The senator let out a long, raspy sigh before settling beside Ahsoka. "I was thinking about how little value my life has without you. Ahsoka, I don't think you understand how important you are to me. Losing you made it even more painfully blatant." The beautiful landscape of Alderaan was progressively losing its defined features as Lux's eyes glossed over with tears.
"But you haven't lost me, Lux. See? I'm right here," she reached over and snaked an arm around his lanky hips and pulled him closer. Ahsoka could sense the senator relishing in her gentle touch and close proximity by how calm his Force signature was becoming.
Lux delicately rested his forehead against hers, allowing a tentative smile to etch onto his lips. Their noses playfully brushed up against each other, and chills ran down Ahsoka's spine when she felt Lux's breath tingle against her jaw.
"I don't understand how you're here though. You were standing on a planet that you demolished! If the explosion didn't kill you, then surely the lack of oxygen would. There's no way you should even be alive-" the senator's rambling was abruptly suppressed as Togrutan lips crashed into his.
"I have died everyday
waiting for you.
Darling, don't be afraid
I have loved you
for a thousand years.
I'll love you for a thousand more."
Pure electricity sparked from their impact, branching throughout their veins and igniting a fierce fire. Ahsoka was immediately the more dominant of the pair, resulting from her Togrutan instincts and Lux's concern for accidentally hurting her.
After minutes of passionate and strong kisses, the dyad parted for air. Their mouths hung agape, panting heavily and resting their foreheads against each other. Lux brought a hand up to gently caress her lekku, evoking a pleasured purr from the Togruta.
A smirk spread across her face as she trailed her lips down his sharp jawline, peppered kissed across his neck, then paused as she found the perfect tender spot. In a careful manner, she possessively sank her sharp Togruta teeth into his neck. (Due to her technique and the build of her teeth, this was a painless operation.) She could practically feel his muscles go limp at her command, sending shivers of thrill down her spine. "Mine," she half-mumbled, half-hissed.
"And all along I believed
I would find you.
Time had brought your heart to me,
I have loved you
for a thousand years.
I'll love you for a thousand more."
Her mind traveled back to his prior questioning about how she was still alive. With a grin, she sassily shot back:
"Because I'm Ahsoka Kriffing Tano. Get used to it."
and that's that, folks. i'm tired. party's over. go home.
JUST KIDDING Y'ALL
THIS PARTY JUST GETTING STARTED
AND I'M GOING MENTAL SO YEE
