fifty.

Betty's nerves ate away at her as she paced in front of her door, her eyes closed as she attempted to keep her sanity in tact. She was worried about Conrad but his disappearance wasn't the harbinger for her panic...it was the fact that Belly and Jeremiah were on their way to her dorm this very second. And she wasn't sure if she could face Belly after what she had said to her.

Upon hearing of their plans and his disappearance she had checked with his roommate, the boy confirming that Conrad had come back in an awful mood, had looked on the verge of tears, had been talking frantically on the phone and then had exclaimed that everything was fucked and had packed a bag and left. This was terrible news to hear, considering Betty knew she was some bit of the reason why he was so upset. She wasn't sure who he had been calling, but after calling his phone about 25 times she had given up...especially when it started to just go straight to voicemail.

The sound of a knock on her door made her jump and she swallowed hard, taking the few steps towards the door and pulling it open. Her heart stopped when she was that it wasn't Jeremiah or Belly...it was Jack. She gasped and he took this as some indication that she was terribly excited to see him, although that wasn't truly the case. She was actually terrified to see him, knowing that Belly and Jeremiah would be at her door at any second...she needed to get rid of him fast.

"Hi baby...how are you?" He was dressed is a Brown sweatshirt and a pair of jeans, his hair sitting perfectly styled on his head and for some reason this actually made her stomach stir, but she knew she had no time to react in such a way. Jacks whole thing was that he was stupidly hot, but now wasn't the time to express that as he moved to press a kiss to the side of her head, the boy attempting to pull her into a hug. Betty stood motionless as she tried to gather the strength to reject him and to get him to leave, the boy pulling back with a furrowed brow as he noticed how uncomfortable she looked. "Are you—are you okay?"

"No...not really. My uh—my friends from home are coming to visit because something happened and I just...I wasn't expecting you." She was shockingly honest, Jack face contorting into an apologetic look, the boy blinking a few times.

"Oh I'm sorry. I'll get out of here then. I got all that I wanted anyways—I just wanted to see my beautiful girlfriend before I went to class. It's the best way to start my day you know?" She stared back at him with her worried expression for a moment before it all melted away into something sweeter, the girl unable to resist his insanely intense charm. She smiled at that and he adored the crinkle of her eye as she looked back at him with the softest gaze she had given him in a long time. Of course he was understanding...he always had been. Betty took a step forwards and shocked him by pulling him down to kiss her, her lips press gently against his own. They hadn't kissed yet since they had gotten back together, but Jack thought now was as good a time as any, his arm wrapping around her waist as he pulled her stomach against his. Betty turned her head into the kiss, some insatiable need to kiss him harder washing over her. So she did, and of course he didn't argue, no instead he just somehow pulled her closer, her stomach in knots as they kissed. His hand lifted and he pushed it into her hair, the girl feeling a shudder go through her and she wondered just how much time they had before she took the initiate to pull away. When she pulled back he let out a whine and it took everything in her truthfully not to go back but she stepped out of his hold, pressing a hand to his shoulder before looking up at him. He let out a few heavy breaths before cracking a big smile, a contagious one, and then proceeding to speak. "Only thing better than seeing your beautiful girlfriend before class is making out with her too. Aren't I lucky?"

"Get out of here you idiot." She laughed, the boy beaming with joy at her gesture of affection. She reached for his hand and followed him to the door, her fingers knit in his as something made her feeler closer to him all of a sudden.

"Alright alright." He said, standing in her doorway but not leaving. He looked back at her and just took her in for a moment, his eyes filled with the softest look of love she had ever seen. He leaned down and pressed s kiss to her cheek and then to the side of her neck, Betty's smile unfalterable as he dreaded pulling his hand out of hers. "I'll see you baby."

"Bye." She said and she didn't want to let him go, the girl pressing a kiss to the back of his hand. Finally she unhooked her fingers from his, his eyes not leaving her for a good bit of the walk down the hallway until Betty's gaze shifted itself, her eyes going to two figures in the hall. Her stomach dropped when she saw who the figures were and they were just standing there, a puzzled look on their faces. Jeremiah Fisher and Belly Conklin had their eyes on Jack as he disappeared out of the hall, Betty feeling an existential dread at the fact that she was pretty sure they had seen that display in the doorway. The two of them looked back at Betty and she could see it in their eyes, the girl wanting to throw up as she looked back at them. However instead she just lifted her hand, waving for them to come inside as she escaped into her own dorm room.

"Friend of yours?" Jeremiah entered first,  Betty moving towards her bed to put her shoes on. They were only supposed to meet her at her room before she showed them where his dorm was. She hadn't looked at either of them yet, the energy in the room shifting as the three of them all held the same concern...Conrad.

"Yeah that's uh...Jack. My boyfriend." Lying would get her nowhere, she was trying to be a better person to Jeremiah,  plus she had nothing to hide. Her and Conrad weren't together...that's exactly what she had told him. Now she needed to stand by that. She finally turned around, her eyes falling on Belly who was standing in the doorway and Jeremiah who was  closer than she expected. Things were clearly tense between the two of them but they weren't tense between Betty and Jeremiah, the girl giving him a small smile as she gestured towards the room. He was shocked from the revelation that she had a boyfriend, and Belly seemed to be too, the girl rethinking all of the shit she had said the Betty at the funeral. Maybe she didn't know anything. "This is my room. Now let's leave it."

"Alright lead the way." Betty already was, the girl making her way towards Belly who was standing in the door. The younger girl backed away and Betty gave her a tight smile, Jeremiah wanting to groan as he saw how they even acted around each other. Betty walked down the hallway,  Jeremiah closing the door behind him as she led them to Conrad's dorm. Belly didn't want to think of why she knew this...she didn't want to know how much time Betty had spent in it and if anything had happened there. She just wanted to clear the thought of the two of them from her mind...but how could she when one half of them was missing and the other half was helping the search. She figured they would always be drawn to each other whether she liked it or not.

"So where'd you meet this Jack?" Jeremiah caught up with Betty, the girl rolling her eyes as he began to ask questions.  She kept her mouth shut, shaking her head at him before he lifted his hands in surrender and spoke again. "Fine...I'll find out anyways."

"Connie's roommate said that he was upset when he got back on Thursday...and then he got a phone call  and Trusky said it only got worse and he was fighting with whoever it was and then he said everything was fucked and left. I don't know if his story will be any different now but it's worth a shot to hear it for yourselves. Maybe you can make something more out of it than me." Betty stopped in front of a door, Conrad's name on the front of it. Jeremiah gave her a thankful nod before he lifted his hand to knock, the door creaking open when he made contact with it.

"Hello?" He asked, Betty looking inside with the other two as Jeremiah entered. Betty gestured towards the side of the room that was Conrad's, her feet taking her towards his desk at the end of the bed.

"Hey look his bed is made. I mean things can't be so dire if his bed is made, right?" Belly was clearly trying to lighten the mods a little bit but Jeremiah didn't budge on his irritation towards her.

"I think you're right." Betty said, Belly looking back at her although the older girl was still looking down at the desk. She couldn't pull her eyes away from a Polaroid that was taped to the top of his desk. It was the two of them from a long time ago. She felt guilt stir but it was interrupted by another voice, all of their head turning to the door as Trusky spoke.

"Whoa. Excuse me. This is my room that you guys are rifling through." He entered and that's when he saw Betty, his head turning to the girl he was familiar with. "Oh hey Betty."

"Hey Trusky." She waved back awkwardly, the boys attention going back to Jeremiah and Belly.

"Hey man  I'm Conrad brother. We talked on the phone earlier. It's nice to finally meet you." Jeremiah said, going for a handshake.

"Okay. Jeremiah, right? B, you didn't tell me you were gonna be here too." His head turned to Betty again and she just shrugged, Trusky shaking Jeremiah's hand and looking towards the empty bed.

"Connie's not back, is he?" Bellys eyes shifted to Betty who was staring down at something on the desktop, her attention not seeming to be on the topic at hand. She wanted to walk over  and see what she was staring at but she didn't, knowing she was here for Jeremiah's  assist and not for Betty's dilemma.

"Uh, I haven't seen him since Thursday afternoon."

"Did anything else happen before he left?" Belly asked, forcing herself to stop looking at Betty as she pulled whatever it was off of the desktop and shoved it into her pocket.

"Well he came back and was mumbling a bunch about something...uh Betty—I actually forgot to mention this  when you came down here but he kept mentioning you. He was super pissed about whatever you did and then he got into it with somebody on the phone. Like, he was yelling and shit." Betty's face paled as the other two looked to her, seeing clearly now that she might have known a bit more about the situation than she let on. She had thought she would get off scot free but it turned out she was a bit of the reason according to Trusky, or at least their fight didn't help.  Jeremiah gave her a look that told her she would have a bit of explaining to do, but really their fight had provided no help or hints for her to try and figure out where he had gone.

"And then he just took off?  Do you have any idea  who he was yelling at?" Jeremiah asked, and Betty ran a hand over her face as she leaned against the desk.

"I don't know, bro. The government who's sur veiling us through our devices as we speak." Betty scoffed at Truskys words, her head shaking as she spoke.

"Don't start this bullshit again dude. Any clues of who it could've been?"

"Well my head tells me it was you...considering that's what had him so heated in the first place. But you don't seem to know so I guess it wasn't." Trusky accused her, the girl giving him a not so impressed look at his detective skills. He was digging a bigger hole for her every time he spoke.

"Is that the last time you heard from him?"

"No. He texted me this morning and said he was gonna miss bio lab and asked if I could take notes. I'd be annoyed but I spent this whole year copying off of his shit so I can't really complain. Y'all feel?" Betty let out a loud sigh, Jeremiah and Belly seeming to be on the same page.

"Mm. Would you mind just uh trying to call him from your phone and seeing if he answers?" Belly asked.

"For sure." Trusky said, this being the most agreeable thing he had done.

"Trusky, did I leave my sweater in here?" Betty's head turned at the sound of the voice

"Uh, I don't—uh one sec. I don't know. Maybe...Nope. Straight to voicemail. But Sophie might know where Conrad went. They're tight." Trusky said, gesturing towards Sophie. Betty was surprised to see Sophie here, the only place she ever saw her was at Jacks apartment...considering she was dating Logan. The girl felt almost like she was going to puke as she witnessed another connection, and she shook her head to herself as Sophie looked to her.

"Hey Betty...I heard you and Jack got back together. It's gonna be fun seeing you back around the house again. And Conrad said something about hanging out with his cousin by the beach... " The three of them seemed to unanimously understand what that meant, Betty's lips tightening as she figured maybe it was as good a time as ever to visit home...two weeks before she was supposed to be back anyways.

"Alright Belly...Betty let's go."

"Oh right...you're Belly. When you guys broke up, my man's fell into a depression."

"Oh I don't—I don't think that was because of me."

"No it definitely was. Like he was always looking at your picture on his phone. Uh anyways when you guys find him tell him that he has to be back for this bio final on Thursday or he doesn't pass the class." Betty felt that familiar punch to the gut feeling, her eyes flickering to the floor as her shoes suddenly became super interesting.

"Wait seriously? Uh...I'll grab his computer you grab his books and stuff so he can study okay?" Belly said, Jeremiah moving to get the books as Betty moved towards the door.

"Good luck."
