Chapter Five: Progress
I'm only human,
And I bleed when I fall down.
I'm only human,
I crash and I break down.

"She'll be here in a few, do you want to go in?" The secretary asks and I nod, stepping into the therapist's office. It was weird because I've never been in here alone, without her.
Wanna know something else?
It's also Wednesday.
Asher and I's therapy session.
I walked over to the record player and looked through the shelf of many rustic records. There was music from all eras.
I could tell Dr. Primson restocked the place.
I picked a Beatles track called
'Here Comes The Sun' and tapped my fingers on the table, to the beat.
Oh, how I longed to hum along with the song!
But I couldn't.
"This music is shit."
I jump and nearly fall onto the floor but I grab onto the table to steady me.
"At least we know you're not deaf." Asher scoffs before changing my record. I frown and simply watch him.
He puts on an old record by Green Day, I recognize it as 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams'.
I take a seat on the couch and he pulls out his silver flask.
I really don't like this song, it's depressing.
"Now this is music." Asher takes a swig and I sigh.
"What's your deal, mute girl?" Asher chuckles taking another swig from his flask.
You, numbskull.
Mute girl? Haven't heard that one before.
Real original.
Instead I focused my attention on the window, watching the gust of wind pick up a dandelion, tossing it to the side.
"Hello?" Asher waves a hand in front of my face and I hit his hand.
"Ow! 'The fuck?" He holds his hand and drops his flask.
I scurry to the floor, grabbing the flask, and run towards the corner, near the trash can.
"Red? What're you doing?" Asher said cautiously and walked towards me slowly.
I shake my head.
"Listen, just give me the flask." He holds out his hand and I lean my back against the wall.
I shake my head, but I get an idea.
I point to the paper and marker.
He looks at where I'm pointing.
"You want some paper, Red?" Asher asks.
I make a writing gesture.
"And a marker?" He questions and I nod meekly.
Asher grabs a piece of paper and marker and I take it with shaky hands, still holding onto the flask.
I write my idea down and hand Asher the paper.
'You stop drinking and I'll help you get out of here'
"Ah, compromise. I like it. But what do you get out of it?" Asher raises his eyebrows.
I tilt my head in confusion.
"I walk out 'sober' and you get what?" Asher says sarcastically.
I shrug.
"I have an idea." Asher smirks and I clench and unclench my empty fist nervously.
"I'll stop drinking, if you talk." Asher crosses his arms, smirking smugly.
I shake my head vigorously.
"Then you, my little mime, can give me that flask." He winks and quickly tries to snatch the flask away from my grasp, but I stop him and flip the cover of the flask off and dump its contents into the trash.
"What the hell?!" Asher yells and I shrug and throw the flask at him.
He catches it skillfully, and downs the single little drop that was left.
"That was quality vodka." He glares and I cross my arms.
"You're really serious about this, aren't you?" Asher groans slightly.
I nod.
"Well, so am I." He says firmly and we just stare at each other intensely.
I grab another piece of paper.
'Fine. I'll try but I'm making no promises.'
I conclude and he smirks.
"Good."
I give him a thumbs up and shakes his head with a chuckle.
"Hey, guys! Times up! Was progress made?" Dr. Primson comes into the room.
"Definitely." Asher smirks and I sulk.
Good god.
Another chapter!
Ahhh I really love writing this story omg! This one and Wonderland High have been my favorite to write so far!
