Wynter's P.O.V.

"You're Nina's friend?" Nina's mother asks me, when I ask to see her.

Her eyes were blood shot and tired, and her voice was weak and shaky.

I nod and she smiles weakly.

"She needs friends, right now. Go right in." Nina's mother grabs another tissues as I nod confused, before entering the hospital room.

I almost run into the hospital, with the biggest grin on my face, when I see Nina laying on her side. I decide to surprise her.

I jump onto the bed, beside her and shake her gently.

"Hi-" She can't continue because she starts coughing hoarsely.

"Wynter." She finishes and wipes the corner of her mouth.

Red.

Blood.

I frown, staring at her sleeve.

"Oh that, it's nothing, I promise." Nina swallows and I purse my lips.

She had a beanie on, but none of her hair was sticking out.

I point to her head.

"Oh..trying a new style." She laughs forcefully and I feel a wave of concern wash over me.

I try to reach for it and she slaps my hands away.

"Wynter, what're you doing? Stop!" Nina lets out a cry and I take off her beanie.

I gasp and drop the hat on the floor.

She started breaking down crying, while I stood teary eyed, watching her.

"I lost my hair, aren't I ugly?" She bitterly laughs and I sit beside her.

I shake my head and rub her back gently.

"The- the treatment makes me lose my hair.. and I've just been so sick." Nina cries and I hug her.

"I have leukemia, Wynter." She lifts her head and tears stream down my face.

"You can't tell Spencer." She says seriously.

I grab a piece of paper and pencil on the bedside table.

'Why not? Nina, he cares about you.
You have to'

"I can't! Please, Wynter!" She starts to sob again.

I wrap my arms around her and she sighs jaggedly.

"You were my first best friend." She sniffles.

She was mine too.

"I love you, Wynter."

That was the first time in a long time I had heard someone say that to me.
