Chapter 11- Feeling Giddy

Chapter 11- Feeling Giddy

My parents wanted to do the whole tourist thing while they're here so my sister, Sarah, was stuck babysitting them while I went for work. I'm still laughing at her expression when I called her to take our parents on a tourist bus ride as I hailed a cab to take me to work.

As soon as I got to my ward, I was greeted by three bouquets of flowers. Who needs these many flowers? One of the bouquets were all roses, red roses to be exact and there were three white ones in the middle. The second bouquet are daisies, all yellowy and there were three pink ones in the middle, are there even pink daisies? Moving on, the last one are pure lilacs and its simple yet elegant. All three of those bouquets are covered in what looks like abaca? And then the typical plastic wrap.

I greeted Rina and asked who the flowers are for, wow, the woman doesn't even know. I looked around and sure enough the two of us were the only nurses in this ward this afternoon, I took a tentative step towards the bundles of flowers, get a grip! They're just bouquets.

I looked at the card attached to one of them, yes them, I'm referring to a thing in a person sense, yes I am weird. 'Ms. Crest, I didn't know what flowers you like so I bought you different kinds -M'. My eyes scanned the card again and again but it still says the same thing, like I wished for something to just magically appear.

I sighed, who the heck is 'M'? Seth? Nope, he starts with an 'S', duh! I mentally face palmed myself and hid the flowers before our head saw them and get an earful. "You must be special if that guy bought you three different kinds of flowers" Rina said as I closed the closet below our table.

"Or he just doesn't know me that well" I pointed a finger at her and shrugged.

"Do not underestimate the powers of a bouquet of flowers" She grinned at me, her blue eyes glinting in amusement.

"Whatever Rina, it probably doesn't mean anything" I turned to face my paperwork and started signing stuff.

"What you do mean it doesn't mean anything? The guy bought you, not one, not two, but three bouquets of flowers" She proceeded to placing oral medicines in cups.

"Don't make a big deal out of this Rina, besides, they're just flowers, probably a thank you or something" I finished signing off papers and proceeded to the IV meds and started aspirating them.

"Right" she rolled her eyes at me and I can't help but giggle. She's a hopeless romantic and thinks that there's a happy ending for everyone even if her first marriage didn't work out.

The rest of my shift went by smoothly and successfully, meaning, nobody died so that's some sort of accomplishment. I then remembered I have no means of transportation, I'll be lucky if I get a cab in this side of town since people are out and partying about, hey that rhymes.

As soon as Rina left, I felt my body stiffen and almost dropped the three bouquets in my arms. Then I relaxed as my brain processed who the new being was beside me. Weird, my body has become accustomed to his presence that it doesn't see him as a threat. Or I'm weird for addressing my body as another being.

"Miss me?" His velvety voice was heard at the front of the St. Gabriel's, I turned to him and saw his eyes were still the same, but dark circles started to form under them. He was dressed in his suit and made me wonder if he came here from work.

"You do know that your actions are becoming more of a stalker's, Mr. Morgan" I smirked and I can see him smirk back, the tiredness of my shift was lifted off my shoulders instantly.

"Oh Ms. Crest, how I missed that smart mouth of yours" he grinned and I can't help but be speechless, what do you answer to that? Thankfully, he talked again. "I see you received the flowers I sent."

"You did send them, why would you do that?" I asked him, I would smack his shoulders but my hands are preoccupied at the moment.

"I just wanted to thank you for accompanying me to my parents' barbecue" he smiled and took the flowers off my arms, finally! I felt relieved when I didn't have to carry three ginormous bouquets.

"You couldn't do that by calling? There is an invention called a cellphone" I rolled my eyes at him, he's so old school sometimes.

"I wanted to do it in a proper way, besides I need you to accompany me tomorrow" he started to walk and I followed him, since I was in flats, it was easier for me to keep up with his long strides.

"So now you decide to ask my permission" I suppressed a smile but failed, its hard to keep a straight face when I'm with him, I'm smiling all the time, its annoying.

"Please, you ate what? Three steaks at my parents' house? So there's no need to apologize for dragging you along since you enjoyed it as much as I did" he said all that in his stern voice and then rolled his eyes, he's weird.

"I ate two" I showed two fingers as to prove my point, "I still need your apology for not telling me before I got in your car."

"I'm sorry, we even?" He was playing with me, sometimes I don't know what's going on in his head.

"Fine, what do you want me to do tomorrow?" I asked as I got in his car, yes, I'm back in his car.

He grinned at me while I narrowed my eyes at him, why do I have a feeling I'm going to hate it. His next words had me confirming my thoughts, "I'm going to introduce you to my next prospect." He said slowly as I processed them in my brain, wait, in my stomach, nope, in my brain.

"Who is she?" I regretted the question the moment it left my mouth.

"She's a friend of a friend" he started the car and started backing out of the parking lot.

"Name?" I asked in my clipped, business voice. Like I even have one.

"Ashley" Great, another barbie like name.

"Occupation?" I sound like I'm in a job interview and I'm the interviewer.

"Restaurant owner" that's a turn around, she sounds, successful and determined. Yes, I base people's personality on their occupation.

"What kind of restaurant?" I was generally curious as to what I'm up against. Who am I kidding, there is no competition if I'm involved, and I'm the loser.

"You know, the kind that turns into a bar at night." He was looking at me intently, waiting for me to react.

"Restaurant by day, bar by night, it sounds practical" I'm looking out the window as I say this. "Seth, what is she like" I turned to him and he looked clueless.

"I have no idea, tomorrow is the first time I'm going to meet her" he ran a hand through his dark hair and I can't help but notice he's stressed state.

"Seth, what's wrong?" I furrowed my eyebrows as I ask him, he looked like he hasn't had any decent sleep in a long time.

"I'm just having a problem at work, then there's the matter of finding a wife, I'm doing my best to balance both" he sighed and closed his eyes for a second.

"Let's go to your place" I blurted out, I'm not suggesting we hook up, I just want to make sure he has a decent night of sleep before I retire for the night.

"Why?" He looked amused and then he wiggled his eyebrows, I got the message in an instant.

"Seth! Oh my God, we're not doing 'it'." My eyes widened and I slapped his arm.

"I was just messing with you Ysa, but I am curious as to why you want to go to my place in the middle of the night" he looked at me all serious and business like.

"I want to make you dinner, since you look like you haven't eaten a decent meal since the barbecue and I want to make sure you have some decent sleep, you need it." I told him and he was studying my face, like I'm going to pull a prank any second.

"Okay then, fine, but we have to stop for groceries" He finally opened his mouth and it was my turn to look confused.

"Why?" I whined, it was almost one in the morning, what grocery store would be open at this hour.

"Because I have no food at my place and you said you'd cook" he sounded like a kid that was denied his candy and I can't help but giggle.

"Okay fine, but where are we going to buy groceries at this hour" I asked and looked out the window, everything was closed.

It was his turn to giggle. "You're so naive its cute."

"I am not cute" I said, emphasizing each word as I crossed my arms across my chest.

"You're not, but you are beautiful" and just like that I felt my stomach drop, what do you say to that? I feel butterflies wreaking havoc in my stomach at that simple statement but I tried to hide the giddiness I felt inside.

"Shut up" I muttered and he let out a laugh.

Soon, we pulled up in front of a quaint little house, it was hard to tell about the color since its night time but I can see that the house was loved, its a one story house with a porch and a front lawn. Little flowers lined the path lead in to the house and the lights were out, what, is he planning to steal groceries.

He pulled out his cellphone and called someone, sure enough the lights inside the house flicked on and the door was being opened. Seth then proceeded to the front of the house and the person inside gave him a bag of groceries. My mouth hung open as he walked back to the car. What just happened?

"Flies will nest in your mouth if you don't close it any minute" his statement had me put on my composure and ask him what happened.

"Who was that? Why did he/she give you groceries? Why is that person still awake? Why do you have people at you beck and call? And what were you thinking?" I looked at him, wide-eyed as he started the car once again.

"She's my housekeeper, she gave me groceries because I asked her to buy groceries all the time so when I need them, I wouldn't go to the grocery. She understood that I would call anytime so she has her phone on loud so she doesn't miss any of my calls." He said and I was shell shocked. I guess being CEO has its perks.

We stopped in front of great white gates and well, lets just say my jaw will lock any moment now due to the number of times my mouth hung open because of shock and surprise.

The gates opened and we drove to the front of the house, I noticed a garden as we passed by and did I just see a fountain? How rich is this guy?

The doors opened before we even got out of the car and a man in his pyjamas greeted us. "Good evening sir" the bald man spoke, his eyes were black, and his body was medium build, he looked like he worked out. He wore those pyjamas that had patterns in them.

"Good evening Don, this is Ysabel Crest, my friend" he gestured towards the girl who was dressed in white and her hair was messed up. I looked like I do not belong to this place.

"Ysabel, this is Don, my all around butler" he introduced us and I don't know what to do, are we supposed to shake hands? Or are we supposed to shake our heads? The man was looking at me, studying me if I'm worth his time.

"Nice to meet you Don" I gave a small smile and he nodded back. We went to kitchen and Seth put the bag of groceries on the counter.

"Don, you can go back to sleep, Ysabel and I can manage, thank you" the butler nodded his head and disappeared. "He likes you" I snapped my head to Seth, how can he tell, he barely said a word to me.

"How can you tell?" I asked and he was smiling at me from ear to ear. What is his problem?

"He usually gave the women I bring here a disgusted look, with you, he only looked like-"

"He wanted to murder me" I interrupted him which made him laugh.

"No, that's his way of determining whether you're here for money, power, $ex, or plainly want to be here"

"Okay" I said slowly, I placed the contents of the bag on the counter and looked at what I have to work with. Potatoes, carrots, bell peppers, beef, garlic, onion, some cream, and marinade, I only looked at them for a minute before my brain processed what to do.

"Need some help?" He offered but he looked lost so I told him to leave me while I make his dinner.

I washed my hands and chopped the potatoes and carrots into cubes, separated the beef into two, then minced half of an onion and sliced into circles the other half. I boiled half the beef while I chopped the other half into thin slices so its easier to cook.

An hour and a half later, I'm done, I made two different kinds. I settled them on the dining table at the other side of the room, I looked for plates and utensils and set the table. Now, its time to look for Seth.
