Tragic Diner

City nights, high sights, dim lights, luxury delights.

At last when all of Jimin's efforts go into vain, he resorts to the most common cliche overused unexciting scenario of a proposal.

You could have guessed it by now.

The elevator door opens with a ting sound, allowing the couple to step in. They breathe and wait there in silence until the door opens again to the highest floor of that building.

Times like these, Jimin internally wishes he could freely interwine his fingers with Jungkook's, link their arms together like other couples, leave smooches all over each other without a worry in the world.

Being surrounded by people forces them to have a somewhat distance between themselves. Not what they aren't already super loud or suspicious enough, but when you're on a private vacation with your 'very close brother-like friend', little things become much more meaningful.

Jungkook steps out the elevator first, followed by Jimin. They are instantly greeted and accompanied by a waiter to escort them to their reserved table.

It was booked by Jimin - Magic Diner.

The name may be diner but it is one of the most prestigious luxury five star restaurants of Tokyo. Located on the topmost story of a multi purpose corporation skyscraper, the splendour interior is richly furnished with expensive decors and it caters wide varities of dishes ranging from traditional as well as international cuisines.

Soft jazz tunes of violin and saxophone enter Jungkook's ears as they make their way through the palatial halls. His nose tickles at the delicious aroma lingering in the air. A shade of red paints over his cheeks when realises his stomach let out an audible growl.

They are led to a secluded section on one of the large balconies of the building.

Jimin takes Jungkook's hands in his, guiding him to the grandeur table-for-two that rests in the middle of the area. He pulls a couch-chair for Jungkook before going to the opposite side to get seated himself. In his mind, Gentleman is playing on loop.

"What do you want to eat, Jungkook-ah?"

It is intimate. The way Jimin places a hand on top of Jungkook's. He doesn't even bother to spare a glance at the menu, having full focus on his lover's face that gleams gorgeously under the dim lightings.

A flowerpot of fresh roses is also kept in the centre of the table, quantitive enough to hide one's head behind them. The mood of the whole ambience may be platitudinous but doesn't fail its romantic aspects. Call it a classic!

Jungkook shrugs. "Anything is fine with me." He answers rather timidly. His large bunny eyes silently scan the place in a cautious manner. Jimin finds that adorable.

"Don't be shy baby, tell hyung what you want." Jimin speaks again and before Jungkook has the time to reply, something in Jimin twists, making him call for the waiter instead.

"Get the grandest meal you serve in Magic Diner."

The words leave Jimin's mouth in a smoky voice as he keeps his gaze firm on Jungkook with slightly hooded eyes. Whatever effect he wants to have by doing this is working because he can visibly see Jungkook tense at his spot. "Let this be a surprise hmm? Sounds exciting?"

Jimin is very proud of his idea. A mastermind indeed. Shakespeare should take romance lessons from him.

As they are left with privacy now, Jimin assumes it to be the right time to initiate what he intends. The diamond ring is practically begging to be worn on Jungkook's finger.

His mind tells him to take a rose out of the bouquet. And he does, holds it in his mouth from the stem while giving Jungkook a seductive wink. Poor Jungkook can only cringe as he gives his hyung a forced smile.

"Did you take your supplements?"

Jungkook knows well Jimin is gonna babble out some corny ass pick-up line again. Oh well. Nothing he is not used to.

"Cause I think you are suffering from a lack of Vitamin-"

"Hey you!! Get off my place!"

The Busan couple instantly turn their heads towards the source of the sudden unknown disturbance. They are met with the sight of two wealth-flauntingly dressed people bolting in their direction, evident scowls on their faces. What even.

Both look high as fuck if you ask Jimin.

Nonetheless he politely explains, "No sir, I reserved this table. Maybe yours is-"

The unshaved intruder man in suit, probably in his 30s doesn't even let Jimin finish. He barks out with an unreasonable unnecessary anger. "You mean I'm lying? I booked this damn place for my girlfriend and me."

What the hell.

Jimin tries to be rational even though it doesn't seem like it's going to work, "There must be some confusion sir."

"I won't repeat myself. Get your ass out of here."

The woman is giving Jimin nasty looks as if the overly done makeup isn't already horrible enough to scare away passengers travelling on lonely roads. Provocatively, she swings her pink bag matching to her dress around her shoulder.

Wow just wow. Some weird uncivilized truck size couple appear out of nowhere and now put claims on utter bullshit. Gonna be memorable.

"Please just..."

"Didn't you hear me YOU FUCKER??!"

It was then Jungkook had enough. He can't just watch on any longer. His fist clutched tight, he steps up from his chair to stand in front of Jimin defensively. Bambi eyes long gone and turned into something scarily dark, like an eagle.

"Don't you dare talk to him like that again."

There is an impact on each word in Jungkook's stern tone. When it comes to Jimin he always becomes so protective.

The man tilts his head to the side too much it might break off. "Huh!? You wanna pick up a fight with me kiddo??"

Jungkook glares at him. "I won't hesitate to."

"Jungkook...no..." Jimin tugs at Jungkook from behind. His expression worrisome. He loves his maknae for standing up for him but he surely doesn't want a fight to break out.

The next few moments happen so quick they pass in a blur.

The man is grabbing at Jungkook's collar with a raised fist... Jungkook ready to counterattack... and suddenly two security guards come running down... they push the male apart from him and apologize to Jimin and Jungkook for the trouble... now the violent couple is being taken out from sight by them.

Just then, enters the oblivious unbothered waiter ever so merrily carrying a big plate covered with a lid in his hand. He places it on the table, taking his leave after.

Jimin looks at Jungkook. Jungkook looks at Jimin. They both look at each other with a mutual look on their faces - What On Earth Just Happened?

With a sigh he didn't know he was holding in, Jimin thinks back to his plan for proposing to Jungkook again. Not gonna lie, whatever that was really ruined the whole mood for them. Is it even worth trying right now?

From the corner of his eye, Jimin catches Jungkook scoffing and grumbling something to himself as he sipped wine directly from the bottle.

Jimin reasons with himself. The whole day was nothing less of a disaster. And when he finally got a nice opportunity after countless efforts, he can't let some random drunk ass couple take it away from him.

He mindlessly shoves a piece of the Magic Diner Grand Dish down his throat. The taste is funny in his mouth, but he pays no mind to it. He eats another bite, chewing in annoyance.

His mind can only think of getting on his knee with the ring in his hand. All in full glory.

He imagines Jungkook's deeply touched, tear-striken blushing face nodding a thousand times yes as the reaction to his proposal. That image alone is enough to bring a smile to Jimin's face.

When he glances up to meet Jungkook's eyes, the younger seems extremely terrified as if he just saw a ghost. Jimin halts immediately.

"Hyung, aren't you allergic to prawns...?"

Uh-oh. That's worse than seeing a ghost.

It is then that Jimin spares a look down at his goddamned meal. Never did he ever wish Jungkook to be wrong this bad. To his sheer dismay it really is ; a prawn dish. All nightmares coming true as the realisation sank in.

Jimin gulps in horror, the leftover food in his mouth getting swallowed all the way. He feels bile rising up his throat. His head spins and guts are twisting painfully. He is getting nauseous. Shit. It's the allergy effects. Threatening to be spilled out.

A nervous chuckle leaves Jimin's mouth in self pity. "I'll have to excuse myself for a minute." And in seconds he is scurrying off the place as well.

In the end, Jimin did have to get on his knees. Not for proposing to Jungkook but to puke his dinner out in the toilets of Magic Diner. Truly magical.
