Suffers Lake

In order to truly achieve your desired objective, sacrifice is the ultimate mantra of a promised success.

It is inevitable, inescapable, ineluctable. As if predestined.

Since the ancient times, sacrifice has been regarded as the measure of pure devotion and determination. From orthodox rituals to the advancement of scientific fields. Ranging the deep philosophies to basic life functioning. It is only a prominent sacrifice in life that allows a person to grow, learn, adapt and eventually attain their goals.

Jimin learns this the hard way.

His painfully reluctant sacrifice, that to a certain extent was bound to dictate the fates of rest of his existence in this illusionistic world, happened in the form of 1000 yen - or to be precise 5 Taiyaki pieces because the little Shiba Inu was too greedy to settle for one.

Now for someone like Park Jimin, a multi-millionaire global megastar, member of the biggest boy band known till date, who moves around the town in nothing less than a Porsche Panamera GTS, even the dirt of his shoes would be worth much more than mere 1000 yen.

But when you've been taken on a wholesome vacation to a foreign land fully financially endorsed by your boyfriend, and you feel guilty for not being able to pay for anything so the one time you manage to convince the said boyfriend to let you take him on a date on your money once, you later realise how much of a dumbfuck you are to leave your wallet back at the hotel room and your embarrassing pockets contain only 1000 yen to spend for the day.

Hard feelings justified.

Even worse when you've drained all of the little money you had to be compelled to buy multiple treats as compensation for a thief of dog just to get a ring that belonged to you in the first place. And maybe the half eaten fortune cookie dripping with doggy saliva attached to it too.

Not only is Jimin dead broke at the moment, he's also close to seeing the stars after madly hastening literally everywhere around for over an hour or more.

To his blameworthy gratitude, he was not completely alone in this chaos. Jungkook helped him corner the dog to a large tree while Jimin kept buying and offering sacrifices from the shop next door until that bitch was content enough to drop the cookie bearing his precious little rock.

Jimin made sure that Jungkook doesn't get to notice the diamond ring. Not just yet.

Surprisingly, Jungkook didn't probe more about that either. For why Jimin is so keen for one cookie that he's willing to do anything. Just called him crazy and laughed at his over hot-headed-ness.

Jimin guesses that's because Jungkook is quite used to Jimin being an idiot and doing deranged shit every now and then. So much that he doesn't get fazed much now. And Jimin doesn't know if that is a good or bad thing for him.

"Each day you embarrass me more and more. Saw how everyone was staring at us? What do I do with you huh?"

Jungkook scolds Jimin in a playful tone. They are sitting on a bench in a park they came across to on the way. Panting and chugging down the cool liquid down their throats from a mineral water bottle each, paid by Jungkook of course.

"Wellllll too bad you love me to do anything." Jimin beams at him. "Stuck with me forever."

"Oh? What if I leave you here then? Fly back to Korea alone? How does that sound?"

A giggle escapes Jimin, he enjoys Jungkook's teasing. "Can you even survive without me for more than 12 hours? Hell no babe! Last time I was away to my family, who kept calling like in every fifteen minutes hm? Threatened me you'll stop showering if I don't return soon."

"...You're right. I can't. My room's gonna turn into a junkyard if there's no one to clean."

"Yaah! Am I only there to clean your room huh?"

"No no baby, you also do a great job in boosting my legend-complex. It rises like super fast like by speed of light every time you miserably lose any game we play. I'm grateful for such a pathetic noob."

Jimin slaps Jungkook's arm. His lips jut out into a pout, pretending to be angry. One of his cute habits when he is playing around. Jungkook intensely gazes at him grinning for a while as Jimin keeps avoiding eye contact, before he brings a hand up to gently pinch his hyung's adorable cheeks. They both can't help but erupt into a series of laughters.

The stay there for some time to take a well deserved small rest. Jimin likes moments like these. Casual hanging out in public places. Where they could relax, go on dates like a normal person without having cameras and paparazzi shoved in their faces. Or worse, Sasaengs following them everywhere.

Jimin takes a moment to admire the park they're in. It's just like any park he used to play in during his childhood but with more modern designs. There is greenery, sitting areas, flowers, fountains, swings for the kids, strolling paths, and a giant lake. When observed from a distance, the lake looks like the shape of a heart.

"...Lover's Lake..."

Despite being distracted by his racing thoughts, Jimin's ears are quick to pickup up on the phrase. That must be the name. He overhears a group of friends chattering amongst themselves.

"I heard this lake is here for over 200 years. The heart shape is totally natural like can you believe it? Then later it got renovated into the park premises."

"The heart shape was not constructed artificially?? No way damn!"

"Haha I know right. What a wonder."

"You see that swan like structure over there? People say lovers who pass under that bridge are tied together for eternity."

"Ah so that's where the name came from."

"Ouhh that is so romantic!"

"Awh wish I had someone to take with me too."

"Ew couples."

Interesting.

Jimin gets an idea. He glances at the lovely freshwater lake once again. It sure excels in attracting a number of visitors.

"Wanna go boating Kook-ah?"

"Boating?" Jungkook who seemed to be communicating to a little birdie sat on his shoulder, turns his attention to Jimin.

Jimin doesn't reply, instead grabs Jungkook's hand and drags him along the direction of the lake. Yes, he intends to propose. It's a beautiful lake, perfect for his beautiful ring, and beautiful Jungkookie.

Only when he is close enough to the edge does Jimin realise how big the lake actually is. Its water looks pleasantly fresh and even small aquatic life can be spotted in the deeper areas.

With heart's weight heavier than his own, Jimin had to ask Jungkook for yet more money in order to rent a boat for some limited time.

It is a rowing wooden boat. Simple and nostalgic. Jimin feels the least he can do for his maknae is row the boat himself. Jungkook argues that Jimin is tired and that he should just rest back when someone as strong and reliable as Jungkook is here.

To no one surprise, Jimin acts to be offended by Jungkook underestimating his power. Defeated, Jungkook lets Jimin have his way. Leaning back and enjoying the sway of the boat is a fun it itself too.

Jimin hops into the boat first, then offers his hand for Jungkook to step in. The younger jumps too hard that the boat jerks violently as if it's going to flip down. Poor Jimin had to hold on tight to Jungkook's figure in pure fear.

And all Jungkook does is chuckle like the sneaky little bastard he is. He finds great fun in jumping up and down more to infuriate Jimin, until they gets yelled at by the gruff voice of the boat owner. A deer caught in headlight. Then he rapidly sits on the seat and urges Jimin to hurry the fuck out of there.

"I swear to god I feel like an idiot for dating a literal child. Twenty-four seven I have to tolerate his wild mischief."

"Shouldn't you feel like a criminal for dating a 'literal child' ?" Jungkook smirks. "You're a born idiot anyways."

Jimin gives him an angry look. In his head, he appears scary and intimidating.

"Look who's the baby now? Making that face like you want me to kiss you in front of everyone."

"Fuck off!"

"How do I fuck off when I haven't fucked in?" Jungkook would expect another smack coming his way but lol Jimin got his hands occupied rowing the boat.

"I don't care I don't care fuck you."

"Babyyyyy tonight..."

Oh god this boy. Jimin can't even be mad at his puppy prince. Not today.

Rowing a wooden boat is not easy. Jimin knows that for a fact. And rowing a boat weighed with your 70 kgs boyfriend along with yourself is a self invitation to death by fatigue.

Even the smooth movements of fluid don't ease the resistance against motion. Or maybe Jimin is still tired from the morning marathon. Either way his breath starts getting laboured from the hard work as sweat trickles down all over his body. He kinda expects Jungkook to aid his rescue but instead that brat gives him a very cocky I-knew-it-already-lmao look and Jimin has to resist the temptation to spank him right there with the damn paddle.

Nevertheless Jungkook doesn't disappoint, "Hyung, let me do now. Don't overexhaust yourself", switches his position with Jimin, taking over the boat. Almost to show off, he rows at an intense velocity and exaggeratingly, Jimin feels he is riding a motor botor.

Soon, the movements turn steady, and sensual. Relishing every moment of them being carefree together. All they are left to do is stare into each other's eyes under the tender sunlight with so much love. Jimin finds himself blushing, smiling. Jungkook's face is too damn hypnotizing.

Being the first one to break the gaze, Jimin looks anywhere but at Jungkook. The water is is clear and rather still. They have quite wandered off the initial shore. There are people taking walks near the lake, kids playing on the swings. A large field on the opposite where some soccer match is going on. Flower bushes are blossomed along the side shores whose scent pleases Jimin. So does the ambience calm his mind. He can hear the chirping of birds from the trees.

On the left lawn next to a fountain two highschool students in uniform feed each other ice creams. Jimin's supervision eagle eyes notice both of them have matching bracelets worn. How cute.

Wait he yet has a whole ass ring in his shirt pocket that needs to be proposed. Right. That's what he came here for after all.

Jimin doesn't realise when the swan bridge is now so close in sight as he peers behind Jungkook. On closer inspection, Jimin discovers the two swan head figurines to be made of glass, or something like that. They're forming a heart together in the mid of this heart shaped Lover's Lake. The dazzling sun rays radiate a glow within the glass swan heads serving as the ornament of this distinctive bridge.

Jimin abruptly stands up.

"I want you to take us under this bridge." He answers Jungkook's questioning face before the younger male can utter a word.

As Jungkook rows the boat in that direction, Jimin can hear his heart beating faster. A giddy excited feeling washes all over him. He is going to make it final. Here. Right at this moment.

"My lovely baby Jungkookie..." He begins, placing a hand above his heart, as he holds Jungkook's doe-eyed gaze. "Will you-"

"WATCH OUT!!!"

One second Jimin is clutching at his pocket to take the ring box out, and the next moment he knows he is ah ah in the stars tonight knocked out cold into the lake.

A soccer ball now floats on the liquid surface. RIP Jimin's beautiful face.

"Oh my god Jimin hyung are you okay?!"

A thumbs up weakly rises up from under the water.
