Chapter 9
Me, Gist, and Coronal Monroe climb aboard my ship. Coronal Monroe looks at my ship again.
"Your ship is in fine form, Master Cormac. That fort should offer little resistance," Coronal Monroe tells me. Gist scoffs.
"I rather hope the frogs offer some or else this will be a dull day," Gist says. Coronal Monroe rolls his eyes.
"Never wish for battle, Master Gist. There are plenty around here for any of our lifetimes," Coronal Monroe tells Gist.
"Besides, if we find the fort's commander, the French will surrender, no?" I ask Coronal Monroe. Coronal Monroe nods his head.
"Indeed that is a sensible strategy, but we will have to wear down the fort's defenses first," Coronal Monroe tells me, "Otherwise they will just dig in like a wounded bear," not too long later, the fort comes into view.
"There's our target, Shay!" Gist tells me, "knock it down like a game of nine pins!" (A/N: By the way nine pins is basically the colonial version of what we would call bowling today)
At the fort I see three towers that I need to take down. I command for the crew to fire the cannons at the towers on the fort. Once they did, the cannons exposed weak spots on the towers. I command that one of the crew members fire the puckle gun at the weak spots on the towers.
The French soldiers at the fort starts to fire moters at my ship. I evade the moters. I order the crew to fire more cannons that the towers. I keep doing that and the towers fall one by one. The towers catch on fire and smoke rises from the towers.
I dock The Morrigan in the docks of the fort. I get off my ship and I run into the intravenous the fort. I see three French soldiers at the entrance, I kill them all with ease with my sword.
I get inside the fort and I kill any soldiers that get in my way. I look up and I see two watchtowers that had a lookout in each of them. I climb both of the towers and I kill the lookouts. I look down from a watchtower and I see the war room below me.
I climb down the tower and I run to the war room. But then a brute swings his axe at me. I dodge his attack. I un sheath my sword and I attack the brute. Once he dropped his axe I stab him in the stomach and chest with my sword.
I walk up to the door to the war room and I open it. Once I opened the door I saw someone very familiar, Le Chasseur. He had was looking right at me.
"Le Chasseur," I say his name. He smiles but in a very menacing way.
"Shay! It has been too long," Le Chasseur says, we start walking in circles around each other without breaking eye contact, "Were you on a special mission?" He asks me. I nod.
"Yes, from Achilles," I answer his question. He stops walk and stop walking as well. He smirks.
"How interesting!" Le Chasseur says, he reaches for his sword and he in sheaths it and he points it at me. His face turns dark, "so am I," I reach for my sword and I pull it out of its sheath. I point it at him.
"Don't make me do this, Le Chasseur!" I tell him, Le Chasseur chuckles.
"Do what? Assassinate me?! I thought that was your speciality," Le Chasseur says.
"We could both just leave," I really didn't want to have to kill him. I mean he did help me with my ship. Le Chasseur smirks.
"Ah, but then I will tell your brothers that you are alive," Le Chasseur tells me, "You have to kill me, Shay!" Le Chasseur attacks me. I dodge his attack. I try to attack him but he blocks it. I see some objects in the war room. Like a table, and some barrels. I could probably push him into those objects to make him drop his sword.
Again Le Chasseur tries to attack me, I counter his attack and I push him into a barrel and I kick into it, causing the barrel to break. Le Chasseur staggers a little, but then he attacks me again. I throw him up against a table causing the table to break. Le Chasseur drops his sword, and I attack him with my own until he was close to death.
Le Chasseur falls to the ground, close to death. Le Chasseur tries to reach for his sword, but I kick it just out of his reach. Le Chasseur sits up slightly and he looks at me.
"You were always good at your business, Shay," Le Chasseur says, and he winches in pain. I crouch down to his height, I look at him
"As were you," I tell him. I pick up his sword by the handle and I stick the tip of the blade of the sword in the wooden floor, while still holding it, "Tell me, what are you doing inland?" I glare at him.
"Special weapons...... poisonous gasses to use against colonial authorities," Le Chasseur tells me, "I am merely a delivery man," those were his last words. Le Chasseur slumps over and he dies.
"Then may your final delivery be swift," I say while putting Le Chasseur's sword down beside him.
I walk out of the war room and I walk out of the fort. I see that British soldiers are already taking down the French flag, and they are putting up the British flag. This fort is now controlled by the British. But I can't help but feel awful about killing Le Chasseur. But he was right, if I didn't kill him then he would have told the Assassins that I'm still alive.
Kathryn would be in more danger if I didn't kill Le Chasseur, I had no other choice.
