Chapter 23
After Shay and I help the British, whom I quite frankly still despised, we head back to the Morrigan and sail for Fort Frederick in Albany, New York. Once we get there we were all shocked to see debris, possibly from ships, litter the ocean's surface. I look uo and I see smoke coming up from Albany.
"Damn the Devil! What happened here?!" Gist exclaims.
"Kesegowaase!" Shay grits his teeth. I stand there with my mouth hung open.
"Kesegowaase...you unimaginable bastard," I say shocked, "my god,"
"Then we are to late," Gist says.
"No. Fort Frederick is near by. I'm sure the Colonel can hold it," Shay says with hope. I look up at him with a pained look on my face.
"You heared the Captain lads! Make haste," Gist yells at the crew.
"Are you sure, Shay?" I ask. He gives me a look.
"Yes, I am sure, Kathryn," Shay tells me.
"Forgive me, you are right," I say, "But it will be a tough fight, Shay. We both know how Kesegowaase is in a fight, hell, he was able to beat me!"
"Kesegowaase will fall," Shay tells me. I sigh.
"Don't be so cocky," I tell him. I wasn't too sure we could beat Kesegowaase. I have been on too many missions to count with him and I have seen how he fights.
Shay docks the ship and he looks at Gist, "Keep her safe while I'm gone, Gist," Shay tells him, refuring to the ship.
"Aye, Captain," Gist says. Shay and I leave the ship and we start fo make our way to Fort Frederick.
Once we were at the fort we saw Colonel Monroe and British solders fighting Kesegowaase's men. Shay jumps in and joins the fight. I run up to an enemy and I kill him with my hidden blade.
I grab a dagger and I throw it at a man coming after me. I kick another in the leg and he falls on to the ground. I walk up to the man I threw a dagger at and I pull it out of his head. I then impale the man I kicked down with his own sword.
Once the all of the enemy was killed both Shay and I walk up to the Colonel, "This is Kesegowaase's work, isn't it?" Shay asks.
"I belive it is, but I have not yet seen the devil," the Colonel tells us. He pulls out the Manuscript and he hands it to Shay, "The Manuscript. You..." Shay shakes his head.
"Keep it safe, bring it to the Morrigan," Shay tells him and then he smiles, "Thats an order," the Colonel raises an eyebrow and he frowns and puts the Manuscript away.
"Who are you to give me orders. I out rank you," Colonel Monroe points out. Shay smirks.
"I'm not part of your army, Colonel," Shay points out and the Colonel starts to walk away, "We'll take care of the defenses until you get back," Shay tells him. Then the Colonel leaves.
I smirk up at Shay and I put and hand on his chest, "Ohh, I like it when you take charge like that," I flirt with him a bit. Shay smirks back at me.
"Well, maybe later tonight....." Shay starts to says but then he looks at something else. I turn around and I see Kesegowaase throwing a dead British solder off a roof, "Kesegowaase!" Shay says bitterly. Then we start to chase after him.
"Do you truly belive you can best me, traitors?" Kesegowaase mocks us. I smirks and I catch up to him and I stand about five feet away from him.
"Do you really want to find out?" I ask as I pull out my bow and I ready it with an arrow. Kesegowaase points his tomahawk at me.
"Ahh, I see you still use the bow I made for you," Kesegowaase says. I shrug my shoulders.
"Well, it works well enough," I tell him. He circles around me and I always keep my arrow pointed at him.
"You! How could you betray us?!" Kesegowaase yells at me. I scoff. As if he didn't know.
"Well, for one, one of you shot my husband. So that maybe a reason," I grit my teeth.
"You were so devoted! You destroy your family's name by siding with the Templars! Or have you forgot that they killed your family!" Kesegowaase yells at me more.
"Um, well, the Templars that killed them are dead, Achilles killed them," I point out.
"Enough of this!" Kesegowaase yells and he comes at me. I release my arrow but it misses him. I take out my dagger and I counter his attack. Shay then joins me and he attacks Kesegowaase. We fight him more but the Shay eventually disarms him and pushes him to a wall and chokes him with his own tomahawk. Kesegowaase gasps for air.
"We trained you well...traitors," Kesegowaase gets out. I roll my eyes.
"Please! In the Assassin Brotherhood, I out ranked you," I tell him.
"Kesegowaase...it didn't have to be this way," Shay says and he was right. If only the Assassins listened to Shay and I.
"It did," Kesegowaase struggles to breath, "You both are an enemy. Achilles will see you both dead,"
I was getting a tad bit desturbed by seeing Shay choke this man to death.
"Shay stop," I tell him. But he didn't listen.
"What he's doing is wrong!" Shay yells at Kesegowaase.
"Who are you to judge? The Templars will fail. You will fail. Monroe is....already...dead," Kesegowaase tells us. My eyes widen.
"What do you mean?!" I ask him.
"Liam," Kesegowaase says and then he dies. Shay yells out in anger and he lets go of Kesegowaase.
"Monroe, Shay! Liam must be after the Manuscript! Liam must have somehow known he has it," I say.
"Come on, we have to get to the Colonel," Shay points out the obvious.
"Yeah, no shit," I say and he rolls his eyes. We then run in search for the Colonel. British solders see us.
"The Colonel was headed for the docks," one tells us.
"A huge man with an exe was chasing the Colonel," another tells us. As Shay and I run we come across a burning house.
"Pour out the flames, before the fire spreads!" A soldier yells out, "The Colonel! He's trapped inside!" without warning Shay runs in the burning house.
"Stay out here, Kathryn!" Shay tells me. A few moments later, Shay comes out with the Colonel. Shay lays the Colonel down on the ground and we kneel down beside him. The Colonel looked badly injured. Knowing he was not going to make it I let a tear or two fall down my face.
"The Manuscript!....An Assassin took it!" the Colonel tells us. He groans in pain.
"Liam.." Shay grits his teeth, "Kathryn and I will get it back! I swear it," The Colonel pull something off his finger and holds it up. It was a Templar ring. It was silver with a red cross on it.
"Shay!" the Colonel chokes out and he falls limp, dropping the ring. Shay picks it up. Some tears fall down my face.
Three days later
Arsenal Home
After I put the twins to bed in their room upstairs, Shay and I walk into a room with a long table that was surrounded by otber member of the Templar Order. Christopher Gist, William Johnson, Jack Weeks, Charles Lee, and the Grandmaster, Haytham Kenway.
Shay and I stand at the otherside of the table in opposite the Grandmaster. Shay and I set our weapons down on the table.
"Do you swear to uphold the principles of our order and all that for which we stand?" the Grandmaster asks.
"I do," Shay and I both say.
"And never share our secrets mor divulge the ture nature of our work?" the Grandmaster asks.
"I do," Shay and I both say.
"And to do so until death- whatever the cost?" the Grandmaster asks.
"I do," Shay and I both say.
"Then we welcome you into our fold, brother and sister," the Grandmaster tells us, "You are both now Templars, harbingers of a New World. May the Fathe of Understanding guide us,"
"May the Father of Understanding guide us," everyone else in the room, including Shay and I say. Haytham walks to Shay and I and he puts the Templar rings on your ring fingers.
"Welcome, Shay and Kathryn Cormac, into the Templar order,"
