Chapter 22

Later that night me and Shay meet Coronal Monroe and Jack Weeks at Onaquaga. Both Monroe and Weeks were outside looking at some charts on a table outside a rundown house.

Shay and Jack shake hands and Shay turns to Coronal Monroe, "So Coronal.... It seems our life is a open book to you," Shay says not very pleased that Coronal Monroe knew the fact that Shay and I were Assassins. Me, I wasn't in the greatest mood about it either. The Coronal sighs.

"Men from my regiment found you severely injured and your wife yelling for help. I didn't know who you both were, but what you both were was obvious," the Coronal tells us and he points to our hidden blades. I look down at my blade and I look back at Coronal Monroe, "I brought you to the Finnegans for care. There late son was one of our order,"

"Master Johnson was furious," we hear Weeks tell me and Shay. Yeah I bet Johnson wasn't so happy to find out that two Assassins have killed three Templars and not to mention we have stolen the Manuscript and Precursor Box.

"It was a risk, but I suspected you both might have left your brothers behind," The Coronal tells Shay and I. Monroe was about to return to looking back at the charts but Shay stops him.

"Coronal....the Manuscript, why return it to us?" Shay asks him.

"Because, Master Cormac, you both earned my trust. It could not be in better hands," Monroe tells us. I weakly smile. Personally, I don't ever want to be near that thing again. Then Shay pulls out something from his coat, the Manuscript.

"Respectably, sir, were more of a target than you now," Shay tells him. It was true, I was already a target before but now since the Assassins know that Shay is alive he would be their numer one target. Shay hands the Manuscript back to the Coronal and he takes it.

"Gentlemen?" Weeks gets our attention. Weeks then looks at me, "And of course let's not forget our lovely Lady," I raise my eyebrow at him and Shay wraps his arm around my waist.

"He's right about the Lovely part," Shay whispers to me. I blueh slightly. Weeks clears him throat.

"Kesegowaase is rallying to storm Albany. His allies threaten a friendly Oneida village, and French troops have already entered our territory," I sigh at the news.

"Kesegowaase, dè tha thu air a bhith? Tha thu ann an cunnart beatha neo-chiontach?! Chan eil sin an dòigh Assassin, (Kesegowaase, what have you become? You threatened innocent lives?! That is not the Assassin way)" I say to myself in Scottish Gaelic. Both Coronal Monroe and Weeks look at me very confused.

"Lady Cormac, what did you say?" Coronal Monroe asks me. I look at him.

"I said, 'Kesegowasse, what have you become? You threaten innocent lives?! That is not the Assassin way'," I tell him, "Or something along those lines. The literal translation is somewhat strange. Okay enough about ehat I said!" I look up at Shay, "So what's your plan?" I ask him.

"We might be able to delay the French and help the Oneida," Shay says referring to himself and I. Coronal Monroe looks at Shay.

"We will ready the defenses in Albany," Coronal Monroe tell me and Shay refering to him and Weeks. Coronal Monror and Weeks continue to look over the charts on the table.

Then Shay and I start to walk back to the Morrigan. Shay then glances at me, "If we are to defeat Kesegowaase and his allies, we need to help tye Oneida....and see what we can do about the French," I smirk.

"I agree....Master Cormac," I say with amusement in my voice. Shay laughs slightly. I reach up to kiss his cheek. But then Shay quickly moves his face and our lips connect.

That sneaky Irishman. I think to myself. I then smirk, "You're so lucky that I love you," I tell him. Shay then grins and he grips my waist.

"Kathryn, how many times do I got to tell you?" Shay asks me. His leans in, "I make my own luck," he whispers in my ear. I giggle and I take a step back.

"Don't we have a job to do?" I ask him with a smug grin on my face. Shay chuckles and we continue to walk back to the Morrigan.

We then walk onto the deck of the ship and Shay takes the wheel. I look at Gist.

"Haley and Nathan are sleeping soundly, right," I ask him. He smiles and nods.

"Of course, Kathryn," He tells me I smile and nod. I then stand beside Shay, "So, not to pry, but do you both happen to know if Kesegowaase has any weaknesses?" Gist asks us. Shay shakes his head.

"He hasn't any. He was a scout and mercenary long before he joined the Assassins," Shay explains to Gist. Gist looks at me to see if I might know something.

"None that I know of, Gist," I tell him. Gist nods.

"May Lady Luck be with you, then," Gist says to us.

"I make my own luck," Shay says bitterly.

"The Coronal exerts a certain amount of control over the army, or part of it, anyway. But we'll need both the soldiers and their native allied if we're to set up a proper defense against Kesegowaase," Gist explains to us. I look at Gist.

"Kesegowaase has allies in every tribe that sided with the French, as well as many others: trappers, hunters, scouts...We'll need all the help we can muster," I tell Gist.

Soon enough Shay docks the ship near the land that the Oneida occupy. We got off the ship and we climb up the cliff toget to tbe village.

The villiage was small and scattered across the village were Kesegowaase's men hold pistols to the native's heads.

"So we split up and meet near meet near the lake after we save tbe Oneida?" Shay asks me. I nod my head.

We then split up. I do a leap of faith into a bush. Through the bush I see two of Kesegowaase's men holding pistols to two Oneida. I sneak uo behind the men and I assassinate them both.
I untie the two Oneida. They thank me in English. Not too long I save about six Oneida. Some of the Oneida that I saved freed some of their own.

I then meet Shay by the lake. Then a older Oneida woman comes up to us.

"Venerable one," Shay greets her, "My name is Shay Patrick Cormac, and this is my wife Kathryn Jane Cormac. We...we are friends," Shaycsounded unsure if she could speak English or not.

"Friends indeed. You have the gratitude of my people, Shay Patrick Cormac and Kathryn Jane Cormac," she tells us, "For as long as you both shall walk this earth, you will have a place, among us,"

"My thanks," Shay says.

"It is I who thanks you both, young man," she tells him. Shay and I get back on the Morrigan and prepare for what the French would throw at us.

Hey. So sorry that I haven't updated this story in a while. I kind of lost some inspiration to write but I will try to update it a little more often.
