Chapter 28

~Dipper's POV~

I hugged my knees, rocking back and forth. You've gotta hold on to your sanity, man! It's the only thing you've got!

There was a lump in my throat that I couldn't swallow and tears constantly slipped down my cheeks.

The door to my room opened and Bill walked in with a smirk. "Time to test out your fire power."

"No," I said through gritted teeth.

Bill paused. "No?"

I glared at him. "You heard me. I said no. I'm got going to help you."

Bill was silent for a bit. Then, he slowly walked over to me. "If you were smart, you wouldn't disobey a direct order."

"Or what?" I snapped. "It's not like you're going to kill me."

Bill raised an eyebrow. "Killing you would be the cowardly thing to do."

I glared at him. "You can do anything you want to me. I don't care."

"You sound a lot like the Pine Tree from my dimention," Bill said. "And I don't like that attitude."

"So what? You gonna put me in time out or something?"

Bill shrugged with a smirk on his face. "Or something."

~

About an hour later, I was still sobbing on the floor. It felt like my back had been ripped entirely open and salt was rubbed in it. "I hope that will teach you a lesson in obedience, kid."

I tried to swallow the pain, but it didn't help. I heard Mabel yelling and crying the whole time, but I was too weak to even look up now.

For some reason, after about ten minutes or so laying there, it started to feel a little better. My breathing evened and I stopped crying. The pain was actually bearable. I put a hand tentatively to my back. The back of my shirt was pretty much soaked with blood. I grimaced. Then I stuck my hand under my shirt. All I could feel were scars, and even those were fading. I slowly stood up.

"D-dipper?"

I looked over at Mabel. She had tears slipping down her face. "I-I'm okay."

"Are you sure?" She asked.

I nodded, rubbing the part of my back just below the back of my neck. It hardly hurt now. "Yeah." I walked over to her. "I-I just wish that you didn't see that happen."

"Its okay," she said, as I sat down in front of her. She didn't meet my eyes. I looked around. Bill was nowhere to be seen. "I'm gonna get you out of here," I whispered to her."

"What? No!" Mabel said. "If you get caught-"

"I'll be fine," I said. "Get Stanley. Then you can come back for me." I moved to where Stan and Mabel's hands were tied together. Mabel's finger nails were chipped and there was dried blood on them. She'd tried to cut the ropes with them! I found the knot and untied it.

"Dipper," Stan said. "You can't-"

"Look out!" Mabel yelled.

I turned around just in time to see Bill grab me by the shirt. "I thought I made it clear that disobedience is not taken lightly with me."

I swallowed. "Y-you did."

"Then what's this?" He asked, his eye gleaming.

I tried to swallow my fear. "You never said anything about not letting them go."

Bill's eye grew red and he smacked me hard in the face. I let out a cry of pain and he threw me to the ground.

"Stop!" Mabel yelled.

Bill and I froze. "Mabel..."

"You leave my brother alone!"

"Oh, and what are you gonna do?" Bill sneered at her. "How about I teach you the same lesson I taught your brother."

"No," I sat up, just to be pushed back down by Bill's foot.

But as I looked up, I saw a fist suddenly hitting Bill in the face. It sent him backwards a few steps and gave him a bloody nose. I stood up, glancing at Stan, who was breathing hard. "You okay, kid?"

I nodded, rubbing the side of my face where Bill had hit me. Mabel jumped up and wrapped me in a hug that felt like he was crushing my bones, but I smiled anyway.

The hug didn't last very long. We had to get out of here Mabel grabbed my hand and we ran towards the door. I could here Stan following. Then, he wasn't. I froze and spun around. Mabel did the same.

Bill was holding Stan in a headlock. There was blood dripping down from his nose and he looked almost more insane than normal. "Give Pine Tree back, or I'll kill him!"

I bit my lip. Stan was shaking his head. "Go!" He gasped out.

I didn't move. Neither did Mabel. It felt like time had stopped. I sighed and dropped Mabel's hand. "Dipper, no," she said, grabbing my upper arm and tugging me back. I struggled to get free of her grip. "I have to, Mabel! Let go!"

"No! I'm not gonna lose you again!"

I looked into her eyes. Tears welled up in them, but she wouldn't let then fall. I felt tears in my own eyes. Then I trapped her in a hug. "I'm sorry," I whispered. "But, I have to."

"No-"

"I love you." (Before you get any ideas, ya Pinecest shippers, this is a sibling moment!) Tears slipped down my face.

"Just...come back," Mabel whispered back, hugging me back.

I didn't make any promises. I let go and turned to Bill. "Let him go. I'll stay."

Bill sneered and dropped Stan on the ground. He lay there, gasping for breath. Then Bill clamped his hand on my wrist so hard it started to lose circulation. I didn't struggle. What was the point? It was useless.

Then someone's urgent voice went on in my brain. Dipper! Help! They're gonna kill me!

~Demon Dipper's POV~

The demons had brought me to a lab in the back room. I was pretty sure I could contact Dipper now, but I wasn't sure it was a good idea.

They strapped my down to a table and started to take a bunch of tests on me. No matter how much they said it wouldn't hurt, it did. At my first cry of pain, they'd gagged me, like it was too much for their delicate ears, or something.

After about an hour or so, everything stopped. No one else was in the room. I tried to get free of the straps, but I couldn't. Perfect.

The door slid open and Bill floated in. He was still in his demon form. "Well, well. It must be my lucky day. They let me off the hook from being from another dimention and they figured out you're human enough to get rid of."

My eyes widened. No.

If Bill had a mouth, he'd be smirking. "I'll enjoy watching this."

"Why do you even want to kill me?" I tried to ask through the gag, but it probably came out more like "Mmm muph emn wn mo mll m?"

Bill laughed. "Nevermind that." He turned to leave, then paused. "Oh, and I can't wait to haunt you for eternity in the afterlife." Then he slammed the door shut after him, crackling.

I swallowed, well, the best I could with a gag in my mouth. I decided to try contacting Dipper. Dipper! Help! They're gonna kill me!

W-what?

The demons! They're gonna kill me!

Just...hang in there. Maybe-

He was cut off and I was sure that I heard a yelp of pain. I swallowed again. I didn't want him to get hurt because of me.

The door opened again, and this time a different demon walked in. He ungaged and unstrapped me from the chair. I followed him out of the room and into the same sort of courtroom I was in earlier. The demons were still there. I gulped. Then I noticed guards at the doors. Is this protection really because of me?

The demons went silent when I walked in. The head demon stood up. "Today, we rid the world of the boy-demon, Dipper Pines, also known as the Pine Tree. We have already gone over his crimes, and we will not do it again. Does anyone in this court object to the death of this dangerous villain?"

Silence.

I started to sweat. It felt like I was having a panic attack. I looked at the faces of all the demons, they all glared back at me. I hung my head, not sure what to do. My bangs hung over my eyes. I blinked, not sure if I was seeing them clearly. They looked...brown. No, your hair's blond, remember. But the longer I stared, the more brown it seemed.

One thought was in my mind. Human. I'm human!

Then, someone was forcing my head to the side. Then, something was plunged into the side of my neck. It hurt. Tears ran down my face before I could stop them and a cry escaped my lips.

Then, nothing.

Nothing happened. I opened my eyes, expecting to be somewhere else, but I was still in the same room. I blinked a couple times, still feeling the sting in my neck.

Then I noticed that the other demons were giving me looks. Some surprised, some sacred some, well, I couldn't even read their expression.

Bill floated over to me and grabbed my arm, forcing it up so it was straight out. "Use your powers!"

I tried, but nothing came. A smile spread across my face before I could stop it.

"Don't get smart with me, Pine Tree! Use your powers!"

I tried again. The smile didn't go away. Human. "I-I can't."

The pain in my neck didn't go away either. Even that made me smile. Human!

Bill grabbed me by the neck. I was struggling to breath. "What did you do!?"

"N-nothing!" I gasped out.

"Bill, put the boy down," the head demon said.

Bill ignored him. "If I can't get rid of you the proper way, then I guess I'll have to do my own dirty work."

Black spots danced in my vision. I couldn't get a breath in or out.

Then, I was dropped to the floor. Gasping for air and coughing. I blinked the spots out of my eyes and, still coughing, looked to see Bill pinned to the ground by a few demon guards. Someone put a hand on my shoulder and I jumped. "I'm sorry."

I looked up to see the head demon standing over me. "This should not have happened. We'll send Bill Cipher back to his own dimention to be punished for an act of such cowardice and mutiny. As for you..."

"Send me back to the Bill Cipher of this dimention."

"Are you sure?"

I nodded.

The head demon looked at me quizzically. "As you wish."

Then next thing I knew, I was sitting next to Dipper. He was crying on his bed, his shirt bloody and his hair almost completely blond. "D-Dipper?"

He shot up. His yellow eyes looked scared. Then he broke down and sobbed into my shirt. "H-help me," he said in a small voice. "Please."
