As difficult as it had been yesterday, Chan found it somewhat easier with his penalty today. But that was only because he didn't have to break his head thinking of the possible ways to approach Jeongin and continue their 'friendship'. His scary 'Meet me every morning' from the previous day had Jeongin standing right before him as soon as he set foot into the building.
The hallways were vacant since first period already started, and Chan took his time to walk to his locker with a silent Jeongin obediently following him like a puppy. Chan hummed a random tune stuck in his head as he put his stuff into the locker.
Then it hit Chan. Being the carefree guy he is, Chan didn't care if he was late to school, especially since the entire staff had already given up on him. But here he was, the good kid that every teacher loved, waiting by Chan's side despite the first bell having gone many minutes ago. Chan stole a glance at the timid boy and observed him for a while. His silk black hair fell over his forehead neatly and his eyes were trained on the floor.
"You didn't go to class yet?" Chan asked, his sudden question making Jeongin jolt, then nod a quick 'no'.
"Go, I'll see you at lunch." said Chan, closing his locker door. "If the teacher scolds, you can tell them my name, okay?"
Jeongin opened his mouth, then pursed his lips, hesitant to speak what was on his mind.
Narrowing his eyes, Chan lifted Jeongin's face with his forefinger. "Say what you wanna say."
Jeongin gulped. ".. W-We're sitting together.. For lunch?"
Chan blinked, the barely audible words still processing in his head. He also only then noticed how sweet Jeongin's voice was. Chan, don't think about it.
"Yes. Any objections?" Chan attempted a glare, which worked on the younger who was quick to nod another 'no', then immediately avoid eye contact because he was that scared.
Chan thought for a while, then sighed. "Spend as much time.."
"What..?"
"Oh- what? Nothing. Why are you here, go to class Jeongin." Chan held a hand against his mouth after saying so as he watched Jeongin scurry away. Shit. Did I just say the rule out loud?
"RULE 2:
Spend as much time with Jeongin
as possible >:D Also! Don't sit
with us for lunch, sit with him.
Alone.
[Don't even look for us -Minho]
(Tuesday)"
Chan couldn't lie, he was starting to miss Felix's loud ass, along with Changbin and Minho. But he had to be mature and get through with the penalty, because Chan hated losing.
As lunch break rolled around, Chan walked into the cafeteria with none other than Jeongin right by his side. Usually, Chan alone was enough to attract attention thanks to his godly visuals, but this time, the entire school population present in the cafeteria had their eyes glued onto the unusual duo. 'The bully and the boy who's always bullied'.
The unnecessary attention followed Chan and Jeongin until they found a seat away from the crowd. Just then, Jeongin released the breath he had been unintentionally holding in.
"What are you so nervous for?" questioned Chan. He then pondered before continuing, "I know I have secret admirers and all but if someone touches you, tell me."
Finally mustering enough courage, Jeongin looked at Chan from across his seat. "Wh-Why are you being nice to me..?" He phrased, his voice soft and laced with fear.
Chan maintained his straight face, when in his head he cursed Felix over and over again. If only we hadn't made that bet.
"Well-" Chan leaned forward, "We're friends, that's why. Didn't I make it clear?"
The younger quickly nodded in agreement, visibly still afraid. After a moment, he looked at Chan again. "Should I sit with you for lunch everyday..?"
Chan furrowed. "Are you not happy with that?" Of course he's not, idiot. Who would be happy to sit with their bully?
Jeongin shrunk back. "I'm okay.. I.." He bit his lips. "I should tell Jinnie.."
"Jimmy? You have a pet dog?"
Jeongin blinked in confusion, then giggled, his eyes disappearing into crescents and his angelic dimples on display. "No- Jinnie, not Jimmy. I mean Hyunjin.."
But the words didn't reach Chan's ears because, oh my, did Jeongin just laugh? With me, Bang Chan? Although Jeongin had stopped and was back to averting his gaze, the sight didn't leave Chan's eyes. Neither did the sweet, sweet sound of his laughter.
"Maybe losing the bet wasn't so bad.."
Jeongin snapped his head up, genuinely confused. "... Wait what?"
Chan slapped a hand over his mouth, then laughed awkwardly. "Nothing! Eat. Just eat god dammit."
